Daily Devotional – A Body hast thou Prepared Me

Wherefore WHEN HE COMETH into the WORLD, HE SAITH, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a BODY hast thou PREPARED me: In burnt offerings and sacrifices for SIN thou hast had no pleasure. Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the BOOK it IS WRITTEN of me,) to do thy will, O God. (Heb 10:5-7)

Many people believe that there are conversations taking place in the Godhead because of scriptures like this. However, if you look at the beginning of this scripture it says “when he cometh into the world”. Who came into the world? God did. God is a Spirit. (Jn 4:24) When God came into the world he took on a body. In other words God had taken on humanity as well. The God-man. Fully God and Fully man at the same time. So when the Word that was God from John 1:1 became flesh John 1:14 then he was in the world. Furthermore we must remember that these are prophecies. When God prophesies through man this doesn’t mean a literal conversation was taking place in heaven. Just like the case with the Lord speaking to Cyrus. “Thus saith the LORD to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have holden, to subdue nations before him; and I will loose the loins of kings, to open before him the two leaved gates; and the gates shall not be shut;” (Isa 45:1) Was this a literal conversation between God and Cyrus? The answer is no. The Lord spoke it through the Prophet Isaiah two hundred years before Cyrus was born and it was recorded so that it might be an undeniable evidence of the exactness of God’s foreknowledge. It was recorded and fulfilled in it’s proper time just like the prophecies concerning the Messiah.
