Daily Devotional – Who is a Wise Man and Endued with Knowledge

“Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom. But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.” (James 3:13-18)

How do you measure up to the wisdom that is from above? Godly wisdom “is first pure”! Is holy producing righteousness, uprightness, and virtue within those who possess it. Then peaceable! Godly wisdom is peaceable! “Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.” (Rm 14:19) “Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:” (Heb 12:14) Godly wisdom is gentle, mild, moderate! Godly wisdom is easy to be intreated, persuaded, and compliant! As long as it fully aligns up with the scriptures! Godly wisdom is full of mercy! “And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.” (Eph 4:32) Godly wisdom is full of good fruits! “Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.” (Phil 1:11) Godly wisdom is without partiality! “But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.” (James 2:9) Godly wisdom is without hypocrisy! “And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?” (Lk 6:46) “And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.” (Jms 3:18)

For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding. He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly. He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints. Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path.

Daily Devotional – To be Spiritually Minded

“The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.” (Pro 14:27) “For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.” (Rms 8:6-8)

Are you a spiritually minded person? To be a spiritually minded person you must first have the Holy Spirit. Do you have the Holy Spirit evidenced with the speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives the utterance according to scripture? “But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.” (Rm 8:9) It is vitally important to know if you have the Holy Spirit. These believers in Jesus Christ who were baptized didn’t have the Holy Spirit until the Apostles laid hands on them and prayed that they would receive it. “Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John: Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost: (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)” (Acts 8:14-16) The sign that you have received the Holy Spirit is the evidence of speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives the utterance as was prophesied. “For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people. To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.” (Isa 28:11-12) “And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.” (Acts 2:3-4)

Daily Devotional – I will Teach you the Fear of the LORD

“Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will TEACH you the FEAR of the LORD. What MAN is he that DESIRETH life, and LOVETH many days, that he may SEE good? KEEP thy TONGUE from EVIL, and thy LIPS from SPEAKING GUILE. Depart from EVIL, and do GOOD; seek PEACE, and PURSUE it.” (Psa 34:11-14)

Were you aware that your tongue is an unruly evil? That life and death are in the power of the tongue? That the tongue is untamable? “But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.” (Jms 3:8) “A man’s belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled. Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.” (Pro18:20-21) Jesus said, “But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.” (Mt 12:36-37) As the Psalmist said, “What man is he that desireth life, and loveth many days, that he may see good? Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile.”

Daily Devotional – Fear God, and keep his commandments

“Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.” (Eccl 12:13) “For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.” (1 Jn 5:3) “He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.” (1 Jn 2:4)

Have you ever wondered what the purpose of life is? Or what the point of life is? This answer and every answer you have is found in the Bible which is God’s word given to mankind. The answer again is “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.” (Eccl 12:13-14) As you can see it is our whole duty to “Fear God, and keep his commandments”. This holds eternal consequences. You will either love God and obey him or you will not love God and it will be known because you didn’t obey him. It may only be known by you and God but it is still known. If you claim to love Jesus and do not keep his commandments then you are a liar and the truth is not in you.

Daily Devotional – The Law of the LORD is Perfect

“The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.” (Psa 19:7-9)

Did you know as Christians we are to go on unto perfection? “Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.” (Heb 6:1-2) To go on unto perfection you must first understand what the writer of the book of Hebrews meant concerning leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ. Be sure you have.  The Principles of the Doctrine of Christ

Daily Devotional – The Simplicity that is in Christ

“For I am JEALOUS over you with GODLY jealousy: for I have ESPOUSED you to ONE HUSBAND, that I may PRESENT you as a CHASTE VIRGIN to CHRIST. But I FEAR, lest by any means, as the SERPENT BEGUILED EVE through his subtilty, so your MINDS should be CORRUPTED from the SIMPLICITY that is in CHRIST.” (2 Cor 11:2-3)

Did you know that the Apostles, unlike philosophers etc., used great plainness of speech? “Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech:” (2 Cor 3:12) Did you know that the scriptures as spiritually discerned? “But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” (1 Cor 2:14) Have you correctly applied the plan of salvation given to all of mankind? This is the simplicity that is in Christ. “Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.” (Jn 3:5) “Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.” (Lk 24:45-47) The plan of salvation for all of mankind is “Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” (Acts 2:38) “Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;” (Jn 17:20) “And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.” (Col 3:17) This is the simplicity that is in Christ. “But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:” (2 Cor 4:3)

Daily Devotional – Their Minds were Blinded

And not as Moses, which put a VAIL over his FACE, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look TO THE END of that which is ABOLISHED: But their MINDS were BLINDED: for until this day REMAINETH the same VAIL untaken away in the READING of the OLD TESTAMENT; which VAIL is DONE AWAY IN CHRIST. But even unto THIS day, when Moses is READ, the VAIL is upon THEIR HEART. (2 Cor 3:13-15)

Did you know that God has a separate covenant with the children of Israel after the fulness of the gentiles come in? “For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in. And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob: For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins. As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the fathers’ sakes.” (Rm 11:25-28)

Daily Devotional – When Moses went in before the LORD

And till Moses had done speaking with them, he put a vail on his face. But when Moses went in before the LORD to speak with him, he took the vail off, until he came out. And he came out, and spake unto the children of Israel that which he was commanded. And the children of Israel saw the face of Moses, that the skin of Moses’ face shone: and Moses put the vail upon his face again, until he went in to speak with him. (Ex 34:33-35)

Moses, the man of God, received the two tables of stone containing that which was to be abolished in Christ. That stone the builders rejected! The same stone became the head of the corner! “Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands; That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;” (Eph 2:11-15)

Daily Devotional – When Moses came down from Mount Sinai

“And it came to pass, when Moses came down from mount Sinai with the two tables of testimony in Moses’ hand, when he came down from the mount, that Moses wist not that the skin of his face shone while he talked with him. And when Aaron and all the children of Israel saw Moses, behold, the skin of his face shone; and they were afraid to come nigh him.” (Ex 34:29-30)

When developing a closer relationship with Jesus Christ in examination of your walk with God, how close of a relationship do you have with God? Are you trustworthy like Moses or others in the Bible? Do you place God first in your life above all others and all else? Moses did. Abraham did. The patriarchs did. The prophets did. The apostles did. We are to be Christ like. “But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.” (1 Jn 2:5-6) “Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.” (Jms 4:8)

Daily Devotional – The Olive Tree

“For if the firstfruit be holy, the lump is also holy: and if the root be holy, so are the branches. And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert graffed in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree; Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee.” (Rm 11:16-18)

It is important that as Gentiles you don’t boast against Israel as your branches came from a wild olive tree and were ingrafted in among them. For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace; And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby: And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh. For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father. Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;” (Eph 2:11-19)
