I long for the Lord’s return and spend my time in preparation to always be ready to give an answer to every man that asks of the hope that is within me with meekness and fear. I love to study the Word of God.  I particularly enjoy studying end time Bible prophecy as well as the Day of the Lord.  I enjoy sharing the Word of God with anyone who has an ear to hear. Remember: Acts 2:1-4, 36-39 1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. 3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. 36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ. 37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? 38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. 39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

So now it was not you that sent me hither, BUT GOD: and he hath made me a father to Pharaoh, and lord of all his house, and a ruler throughout all the land of Egypt. Haste ye, and go up to my father, and say unto him, Thus saith thy son Joseph, God hath made me lord of all Egypt: come down unto me, tarry not: (Gen 45:8-9)

And Abraham said of Sarah his wife, She is my sister: and Abimelech king of Gerar sent, and took Sarah. BUT GOD came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, Behold, thou art but a dead man, for the woman which thou hast taken; for she is a man’s wife. (Gen 20:2-3)

BUT GOD will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for he shall receive me. Selah. (Psa 49:15)

For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: BUT GOD hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; (1 Cor 1:26-27)

For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. BUT GOD commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (Rm 5:7-8)

BUT THE LORD thy God shall deliver them unto thee, and shall destroy them with a mighty destruction, until they be destroyed. (Deut 7:23)

And it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God led them not through the way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, Lest peradventure the people repent when they see war, and they return to Egypt: BUT GOD led the people about, through the way of the wilderness of the Red sea: and the children of Israel went up harnessed out of the land of Egypt. (Ex 13:17-18)

A people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims; BUT THE LORD destroyed them before them; and they succeeded them, and dwelt in their stead: As he did to the children of Esau, which dwelt in Seir, when he destroyed the Horims from before them; and they succeeded them, and dwelt in their stead even unto this day: (Deut 2:21-22)

For the arms of the wicked shall be broken: BUT THE LORD upholdeth the righteous. The LORD knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be for ever. (Psa 37:17-18)

BUT GOD is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another. For in the hand of the LORD there is a cup, and the wine is red; it is full of mixture; and he poureth out of the same: but the dregs thereof, all the wicked of the earth shall wring them out, and drink them. But I will declare for ever; I will sing praises to the God of Jacob. (Psa 75:7-9)

The nations shall rush like the rushing of many waters: BUT GOD shall rebuke them, and they shall flee far off, and shall be chased as the chaff of the mountains before the wind, and like a rolling thing before the whirlwind. (Isa 17:13)

But Jonah rose up to flee unto Tarshish from the presence of the LORD, and went down to Joppa; and he found a ship going to Tarshish: so he paid the fare thereof, and went down into it, to go with them unto Tarshish from the presence of the LORD. BUT THE LORD sent out a great wind into the sea, and there was a mighty tempest in the sea, so that the ship was like to be broken. (Jnh 1:3-4)

They gather themselves together against the soul of the righteous, and condemn the innocent blood. BUT THE LORD is my defence; and my God is the rock of my refuge. (Psa 94:21-22)

Thou hast thrust sore at me that I might fall: BUT THE LORD helped me. (Psa 118:13)

BUT GOD, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) (Eph 2:4-5)

Matthew 11_28-30

Let us begin with a comparison to the Sabbath observance God spoke of to the children of Israel…

It was a covenant between the children of Israel and God. Just as the New Testament Covenant is between the children of Israel and God.

It is important to realize that we are the children of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel. For we have partook of that seed Christ, of which was the promise.

Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ. (Gal 3:13-14, 16)

The purposes in the keeping of the Sabbath day of rest was to remind the children of Israel: 1) That in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed,

Just as we were told in Hebrews chapter 4:

For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works. And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest. Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief: For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day. There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. (Heb 4:3-6, 8-9)

This rest is found in the receiving of the Spirit of Christ!!

The second purpose in the keeping of the Sabbath day of rest was to remind the children of Israel:

2) To keep the Sabbath day of Rest holy or sanctified by not doing any work.

Just as we were told in Hebrews chapter 4:

There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief. For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. (Heb 4:9-12)

It is important to realize that when we allow God to move upon us and speak with other tongues as the Spirit gives the utterance that we have ceased from our own works as God did from His. For the tongue can no man tame!!

Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth! And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell. For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind: But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. (James 3:5-8)

Again, this Rest is found in the receiving of the Spirit of Christ where God then tames the untamable tongue and we cease from our own works as God did from His.

The third purpose in the keeping of the Sabbath day of rest was to remind the children of Israel:

3) That the children of Israel would remember that it was the Lord God who did sanctify them and brought them out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand and by a stretched out arm; therefore the LORD thy God commanded them to keep the Sabbath day of rest.

Just as we were told in Romans:

We are sanctified by the Holy Ghost.

That I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Ghost. (Rm 15:16)

For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. (Rm 8:3-4)

Just as the children of Israel were sanctified and brought out of the land of Egypt we too are sanctified by the Holy Ghost and set free from the bondage of sin which is a type of Egypt.

For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. (Rm 8:2)

Set free from Egypt… Set free from Sin…

The Sabbath rest of the Lord fulfilled!!!

1 Chronicles 28:9
9 And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the LORD searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever.

Mark 4:22-23
22 For there is nothing hid, which shall not be manifested; neither was any thing kept secret, but that it should come abroad.
23 If any man have ears to hear, let him hear.

Hebrews 4_15

The Lord searches all hearts! There are no exceptions! God understands all the imaginations of the thoughts. Every thought you have, God knows and understands the motive behind your thought to the fullest extent of where your thought came from. Your subconscious mind may block you from remembering or knowing why some of your thoughts come, but God knows and understands every thought you have! Whether good or bad.

Hebrews 4:12-16
12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.
14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.
15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

You can not deceive God with your thoughts!

You can not hide anything from God who “is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” ALL “things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.” God understands all of the temptations of man and all the sufferings of man through Jesus Christ who “was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.”

Job 26:6-14
6 Hell is naked before him, and destruction hath no covering.
7 He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing.
8 He bindeth up the waters in his thick clouds; and the cloud is not rent under them.
9 He holdeth back the face of his throne, and spreadeth his cloud upon it.
10 He hath compassed the waters with bounds, until the day and night come to an end.
11 The pillars of heaven tremble and are astonished at his reproof.
12 He divideth the sea with his power, and by his understanding he smiteth through the proud.
13 By his spirit he hath garnished the heavens; his hand hath formed the crooked serpent.
14 Lo, these are parts of his ways: but how little a portion is heard of him? but the thunder of his power who can understand?

Seeing our God “searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts” “and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do”, why try to hide your evil and wicked works? It’s all in vain. Why not rather “be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?” (Heb 12:9) “Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue: For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.” (Jn 12:42-43) “The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly.” (Pro 20:27)

Psalms 139:1-12
1 O LORD, thou hast searched me, and known me.
2 Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off.
3 Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.
4 For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O LORD, thou knowest it altogether.
5 Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me.
6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it.
7 Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?
8 If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.
9 If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;
10 Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.
11 If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me.
12 Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.

Let this be a comfort to you! You don’t have to pretend with God! You may deceive yourself, but you can never deceive God. It’s a comfort to know that God is not weak but strong!

Matthew 12:33-37
33 Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit.
34 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.
35 A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.
36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.
37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

Every “idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.” Careful what you are thinking and what you are speaking because you will give account of it in the day of judgment! “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;” (2 Cor 10:3-5)

Proverbs 21:30-31
30 There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD.
31 The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the LORD.

Why not dwell in safety? Satan and his Angels were foolish to think they could overthrow God. Understand “There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD.” He knew of their rebellion from the beginning and allowed it all to take place! He was never afraid nor would every thing the Lord created have any chance whatsoever even with all their power combined be able to overthrow or do anything unto the Lord our God! Nevertheless there will always be those who think they can fight and beat God. You only seal your own fate and destruction. “The LORD hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil. Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished. By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.” (Pro 16:4-6)

2 Chronicles 16:9a
9 For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him.

Psalms 94:8-11
8 Understand, ye brutish among the people: and ye fools, when will ye be wise?
9 He that planted the ear, shall he not hear? he that formed the eye, shall he not see?
10 He that chastiseth the heathen, shall not he correct? he that teacheth man knowledge, shall not he know?
11 The LORD knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are vanity.

Matthew 15:8-9
8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

Come let us Grow Together: A Fresh Balm of Forgiveness

Come let us Grow Together is a weekly series that deals with the many topical categories that exist within the Word of God. The purpose of this series is to grow in wisdom, knowledge, and understanding in things pertaining to God.

Forgive

Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven. (Mt 18:21-22)

Not only are we commanded to forgive one another of our trespasses against one another, but more specifically when Peter asked the Lord how oft shall he forgive his brother, the Lord responded seventy times seven times. That’s a lot of forgiveness.

Forgiveness is a process that continues every time you find your mind wondering back upon the offense that offended you. Forgiveness is not a one time thing. You must apply A Fresh Balm of Forgiveness each and every time you find yourself offended once again over what someone has done to you.

A good place to start when trying to forgive your brother that has sinned against you, is to reflect upon yourself and the many offenses you have done to others and remember that we are by no means perfect and make many mistakes in our lives. But let us put that behind us and press on “toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” (Phil 3:14) Let us “Lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” (Heb 12:1-2)

Who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame. For who? Us sinners that committed offense against God! Remember Jesus died on the cross for everyone, including the one that has committed an offense against you. Let us remember to apply A Fresh Balm of Forgiveness to our wounds when we find that they are once again exposed. “Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;” (Heb 12:15)

But we are wise to the tricks of the enemy because we have “Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. (Eph 6:11-12)

You have put on the whole armour of God haven’t you? “But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.” (Mt 5:44-45 KJV)

Let us remember to apply A Fresh Balm of Forgiveness in our lives that we may too be the children of the Highest.

Heb 11_1

2 Corinthians 5:1-11
1 For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
2 For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven:
3 If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked.

“Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.“ (Rev 16:15)

4 For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life.

“For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labour: yet what I shall choose I wot not. For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better: Nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you.” (Phil 1:21-24)

5 Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit.
6 Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:
7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)
8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
9 Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.
10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.
11 Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.

Romans 8:18-21
18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
19 For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.
20 For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope,
21 Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.

1 Corintians 15:35-58
35 But some man will say, How are the dead raised up? and with what body do they come?
36 Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die:
37 And that which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shall be, but bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other grain:
38 But God giveth it a body as it hath pleased him, and to every seed his own body.
39 All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds.
40 There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another.
41 There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory.
42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption:
43 It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power:
44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.
45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.
46 Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual.
47 The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.
48 As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.
49 And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.
50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

The resurrection of life or what is more commonly known as the rapture.

51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.
57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

Romans 8:22-28
22 For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.
23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.
24 For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?
25 But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.
26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

This promise is “to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose“. If this is you, because this gospel is to every one the believes, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek” (Rm 1:16) then you must be born again of water and of the Spirit according to Acts 2:38-39, “Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.” So if you are called, then you must be obedient unto salvation. “Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began, But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith: To God only wise, be glory through Jesus Christ for ever. Amen.” (Rm 16:25-27)

Mark 13:33-37
33 Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.
34 For the Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch.
35 Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning:
36 Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping.
37 And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.

It’s not about the Facts, It’s about your Faith!!

Romans 3:3-4
3 For what if some did not believe? shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect?
4 God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.

Matthew 24:35-51
35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
37 But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,
39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
40 Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
42 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.
43 But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.
44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.
45 Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?
46 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.
47 Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.
48 But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming;
49 And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken;
50 The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of,
51 And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Are you watching and praying that you can escape that day and be clothed upon with your heavenly body?

Matthew 25:1-46
1 Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
2 And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
3 They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:
4 But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
5 While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.
6 And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.
7 Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
8 And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.
9 But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.
10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.
11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.
14 For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.
15 And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey.
16 Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents.
17 And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two.
18 But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord’s money.
19 After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them.
20 And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.
21 His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
22 He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them.
23 His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
24 Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed:
25 And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.
26 His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:
27 Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.
28 Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.

Jesus was not a Marxist!! Hear it!!

29 For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.
30 And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
31 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:
32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:
33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.
34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?
39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
42 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:
43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.
44 Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?
45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.
46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

It’s not about the Facts, It’s about your Faith!!

Are you watching and praying that you can escape that day and be clothed upon with your heavenly body?

Matthew 13:36-50
36 Then Jesus sent the multitude away, and went into the house: and his disciples came unto him, saying, Declare unto us the parable of the tares of the field.
37 He answered and said unto them, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man;
38 The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one;
39 The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels.
40 As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world.
41 The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity;
42 And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
43 Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.
44 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.
45 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls:
46 Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.
47 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a net, that was cast into the sea, and gathered of every kind:
48 Which, when it was full, they drew to shore, and sat down, and gathered the good into vessels, but cast the bad away.
49 So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just,
50 And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

The words dabar, logos, and rhema are three words in the Bible that were translated into our English language as “word“.  In this lesson we will be taking a closer look at the Oneness of God.

00 Jesus

The Spirit of God is eternal as God. “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” (John 4:24) God is not three separate persons or individuals of one substance. Just God is a Spirit and He is eternal. That which God has created as beings are His sons and thus making our one God Father by title. Not three separate persons or individuals of one substance. God is a Spirit. God has been known as several names throughout scriptures. However, He is still one God. When we call God our Father it is because we are his offspring or children because He created mankind. Thus our God that is a Spirit became a Father to us, His creation. As we study the Old Testament we find that God spoke this world, as well as the universe, into existence. This was done by His own desire for His own purpose. “Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:” (Isaiah 46:9-10)

The Old Testament word for this was dabar. “[By the word – Dabar] of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.” (Psalms 33:6) Any time you see the word LORD in caps in the Old Testament it is because the translation of the Bible into English is following after Jewish tradition and is meant for the reader to substitute the name of God here. The name Jehovah and other variations are used for this because our God’s name is YHWH or YHVH. This term is known as the tetragrammaton. Since the Jewish alphabet didn’t have any vowels in it and the Jews were afraid to speak God’s name because the commandment says not to take the LORD’S name in vain the pronunciation was lost. (See Exodus 20:7, Deuteronmy 5:11) So it has been long forgotten. The tetragrammaton without having vowels and no longer being spoken by the children of Israel caused a loss of the correct pronunciation because no one knows how it was spoken at that time. The Jewish scribes through tradition began to substitute the word Adonai, which means lord, instead of speaking the name of God in the scriptures. In Hebrew vowel sounds were used but not written so people began to try to preserve the Hebrew language after Jesus was crucified because the children of Israel began to be scattered from their promised land and knew their language would be lost forever. So they made vowel points to try to preserve the language. This they successfully accomplished. But the name of God only being letters and not pronounced was lost and since they did not ever want to take God’s name in vain they instead used the vowel points from Adonai as the vowel points we use in our English YHWH or YHVH. This then gives basically infinite ways to pronounce our God’s name with Jehovah being the most common for us using the King James Version of the Bible. Also you will notice our name for God starts with the letter J. This in itself is another complication but suffice to say that during translations to our Old English the letter I eventually was replaced in many words with the letter J of which was a new letter in our alphabet.

But back to the main topic. The Old Testament word for God speaking the world, as well as the universe, into existence was Dabar in Hebrew but Logos in the New Testament because the New Testament was written in Greek. (Side note: not every translated English “word” out of the Bible will be Dabar or Logos. It depends on the subject. In some cases in the New Testament you will see the word translated as Rhema because it is speaking in the past tense. Example: “Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed [by the word of God – Rhema], so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. (Hebrews 11:3) And for Logos “In the beginning was [the Word – Logos], and [the Word – Logos] was with God, and [the Word – Logos] was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.” (John 1:1-3)

So what does the Word or Logos of God mean in the original Greek language? According to the Strong’s Concordance it means:

G3056. logos, log’-os; from G3004; something said (including the thought); by implication, a topic (subject of discourse), also reasoning (the mental faculty) or motive; by extension, a computation; specially, (with the article in John) the Divine Expression (i.e. Christ)

So we learn that God referred to his thoughts, plan, and reasoning in His mind as the Word of whom He is. Not three separate persons or individuals of one substance. God is a Spirit.

The importance of this explanation is to show you that God and the Word are not three separate persons or individuals of one substance. God is a Spirit. The Word was with God as the mind of God, the reasoning of God, and the plan or purpose of God. This is found in the very definition of the word Logos which is translated in our language as Word.

So when the Word became flesh we had the only begotten of the Father (John 1:14) “To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.” (2 Corinthians 5:19) “Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.” (Matthew 1:23) The one and only God-man. Fully God and Fully man in a perfect union. This body of the God-man was to be called Jesus we are told for a reason. “And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.” (Matthew 1:21)

Since Jesus was both fully man and fully God when he spoke to the Eternal Spirit of God he was speaking as a man to God, for he himself was fully man and fully God. “Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared; Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;” (Hebrews 5:7-8) Jesus was leaving for us by example how we are to communicate with the Father of Creation. The problem people are running into is not understanding why Jesus would pray or speak to God if God wasn’t a separate person or individual of God. The reason is because he was also fully man. He hurt just like you and he suffered as we suffer and partook of our nature yet he was still God in the flesh or the Son of God. Not three separate persons or individuals of one substance. God is a Spirit. “For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham. Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people. For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour [to aid or relieve] them that are tempted.” (Hebrews 2:16-18) “Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.” (Hebrews 4:14-15)

Jesus at one point even tells the people they only heard a voice from Heaven for their own sake, meaning so that they would believe. “Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again. The people therefore, that stood by, and heard it, said that it thundered: others said, An angel spake to him. Jesus answered and said, This voice came not because of me, but for your sakes.” (John 12:28-30)

The main reason there is so much trouble with understanding of why Jesus spoke or prayed to God his Father is because people fail to comprehend or grasp that Jesus was also a man just like you and I. So being fully man you are going to speak to God even though Jesus himself was God in the flesh. You must always take into account the dual nature of Christ.

Since Jesus was God in the flesh to say Jesus wasn’t human or was just a shell that the Spirit of God dwelt in is false because you take away the humanity of Christ of which come to die for our sins. “The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.” (John 1:29) On the other hand even though we know Jesus is God to only say Jesus is God confuses people because they then try to figure out why then did He pray or talk to God and why was their a separate voice. The answer is because Jesus was both fully man and fully God.

This is why I believe that it is a misrepresentation that leads to confusion when Christians try to explain the Godhead as Father in Creation, Son in redemption, and Spirit in sanctification. This illustration shows a God of three in one to most people if not all. The wording should be more along the lines of our God is a Spirit and He is one. In regards to that which is created the Spirit is known as our Father by title. In regards to the Son of God the Spirit of God became incarnate to redeem mankind back unto Himself and He is still one and the selfsame Spirit. This terminology clearly states that God is one and how without giving the illusion of three in one.

Our God is not three parts either: one part Father, one part Word, one part Holy Spirit. Our God is a Spirit and He is one. However, since God became flesh to redeem mankind back unto Himself we will see the body of God as Jesus Christ because Jesus is the expressed visible image of the invisible God. “For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.” (Colossians 2:9) Is Jesus in the Godhead or is the Godhead in Jesus? We just seen that answer in Colossians. The Godhead is in Jesus because Jesus is the true God as spoken in 1 John chapter 5 verse 20 “And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.” This is also why in 1 John chapter 1 verse 3 we find that our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ and there is no mention of the Holy Spirit. “That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.” We are supposed to have understood by the scriptures that our God is one and He is a Spirit. The only way that we can be “in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ” this being the true God, and eternal life is by becoming born again of water and of the Spirit (John 3:1-7) where “through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.” (Ephesians 2:18) “For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.” (Ephesians 5:30) This is why “truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ“, because to gain access into this Body of Christ you must first receive the Spirit of Christ and thus we are restored to our Father who is a Spirit and “God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them”. (2 Corithians 5:19) “Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one.” (Galatians 3:20) “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.” (1 Timothy 2:5-6)

Come let us Grow Together: Get familiar with the Letter not a Verse of the Letter

Come let us Grow Together is a weekly series that deals with the many topical categories that exist within the Word of God. The purpose of this series is to grow in wisdom, knowledge, and understanding in things pertaining to God.

View or Download as a .pdf file

When I speak of the Letter, I am speaking of Epistles written to the Churches or to the various people they were written to. I am not referring to the Mosaic Law.

Romans 6_14

The many mistakes made by people concerning the Word of God is directly tied to not applying how the Word of God is set up for one to learn doctrine.

Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts. For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little: (Isa 28:9-10 KJV)

For one to gain doctrinal understanding and knowledge, one must do so by looking from book to book, epistle to epistle, and from verse to verse. Gaining this understanding line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little.

Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way. Thou hast commanded us to keep thy precepts diligently. I will meditate in thy precepts, and have respect unto thy ways. (Psa 119:104, 4, 15 KJV)

Many doctrines and personal belief systems that people cling to are based upon selecting certain verses of scriptures and applying only those scriptures. And not only so, many times these scriptures ignore what was spoken elsewhere in the same letter (epistle). For example:

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. (Rm 10:9, 13 KJV)

But what about what the Apostle Paul wrote just four chapters earlier concerning baptism? Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: (Rm 6:3-5 KJV)

Does this mean we can disregard what the Apostle wrote earlier in his letter? Not to mention what is written elsewhere in other books concerning these topics.

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: (2 Tim 3:16 KJV)

It’s time to Get familiar with the Letter not a Verse of the Letter!!

But what about, “work out your own salvation with fear and trembling?” (Phil 2:12c KJV) Again, It’s time to Get familiar with the Letter not a Verse of the Letter!! What did it say elsewhere in this letter?

I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy, For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now; Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ: Even as it is meet for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart; inasmuch as both in my bonds, and in the defence and confirmation of the gospel, ye all are partakers of my grace. (Phil 1:3-7 KJV)

Here we learn about the people he is speaking to when he said, “work out your own salvation with fear and trembling”. He commends them for their “fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now.” He even speaks that he has them, “in the defence and confirmation of the gospel”. So these people were keeping the Word that he taught to them.

“And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment; That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ; Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God. (Phil 1:9-11 KJV)

So when the Apostle Paul spoke to the Philippians to “work out your own salvation with fear and trembling” he was speaking to people that had already proved that they were following his precepts. Furthermore only part of the scripture is quoted when we here people say “work out your own salvation with fear and trembling”. What does the whole verse say?

Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. (Phil 2:12 (KJV)

You can tell obedient people to work out their own salvation with fear and trembling because they have already proven themselves obedient.

Let us therefore Get familiar with the Letter not a Verse of the Letter and learn sound doctrine.

Honor

Ephesians 6:2-3
2 Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;)
3 That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.

Proverbs 3:9-10
9 Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:
10 So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.

Proverbs 15:32-33
32 He that refuseth instruction despiseth his own soul: but he that heareth reproof getteth understanding.
33 The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom; and before honour is humility.

Proverbs 21:21
21 He that followeth after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness, and honour.

Romans 12:10
10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;

1 Timothy 5:17-19
17 Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.
18 For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward.
19 Against an elder receive not an accusation, but before two or three witnesses.

Valor

2 Timothy 2:3-5
3 Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.
4 No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.
5 And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully.

2 Timothy 2:10-13
10 Therefore I endure all things for the elect’s sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.
11 It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him:
12 If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:
13 If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.

Matthew 10:22
22 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.

Philippians 4:11-13
11 Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.
12 I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.
13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

2 Corinthians 12:10
10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.

Virtue

1 Corinthians 9:26-27
26 I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:
27 But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

1 Corinthians 15:31
31 I protest by your rejoicing which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily.

Romans 8:12-14
12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.
13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

Colossians 3:1-4
1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.

Galatians 2:20
20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Galatians 6:14-16
14 But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.
15 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature.
16 And as many as walk according to this rule, peace be on them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of God.

Wisdom

Ecclesiastes 10:1
1 Dead flies cause the ointment of the apothecary to send forth a stinking savour: so doth a little folly him that is in reputation for wisdom and honour.

Psalms 111:10
10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.

Psalms 34:11-16
11 Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the LORD.
12 What man is he that desireth life, and loveth many days, that he may see good?
13 Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile.
14 Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.
15 The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry.
16 The face of the LORD is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.

Ephesians 1:15-23
15 Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints,
16 Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;
17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,
21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:
22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,
23 Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.

James 1:5-8
5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.
8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods. And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey. Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents. And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two. But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord’s money. After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them. And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more. His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord. He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them. His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord. Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed: And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine. His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed: Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury. Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents. For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath. And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. (Matt 25:14-30 KJV)

Don't Bury Your Talent

Don’t be as the one that buried his talent that the Lord had given to him. Don’t be as one that doesn’t even know that he has squandered away the talent his Lord has given to him. The Lord has given to each of us according to our individual ability. But what are you doing with the talent the Lord has given to you? Are you as one that has digged down into the earth and has hidden his talent?

There are those that have wasted and squandered their talents pursuing careers with them. Seeking to make gain in the natural world with the talent that their Lord gave unto them. Are you one of these unprofitable servants of whom when his Lord comes will catch him unawares?

There are also those claiming and believing that they are using their talent that their Lord gave to them for the kingdom of heaven and yet instead are exploiting the gospel for gain. Are you one of these unprofitable servants who when your Lord comes will find you asleep and with no oil in your lamp?

What are you doing with the talent your Lord has given to you? Are you using it for the kingdom of God and for his righteousness? What is your motives behind what you are doing with the talent your Lord has given to you? Are you seeking to reach the multitudes for personal gain? Or are you seeking to edify the Body of Christ and to bring glory and honor unto our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ? Are you reaching and stretching yourself for the benefit of others and for a testimony of Jesus Christ? Or are you seeking to please yourself in your own pursuit of happiness?

Don’t be as the wicked and unprofitable servant who has either buried his talent or squandered it away pursuing earthly possessions that blow away with the wind.

And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of meat in due season? Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. Of a truth I say unto you, that he will make him ruler over all that he hath. But and if that servant say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken; The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers. And that servant, which knew his lord’s will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. (Lk 12:42-47 KJV)

Don’t Bury your Talent!

Luke 6:35-37
35 But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.
36 Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.
37 Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:

As Christians we want to make absolutely certain that we fully understand the differences between inspecting, judging, and condemning. Many people read this verse of scripture and hold fast to it alone not reading elsewhere what is written concerning judging. It is essential to understand that as Christians we are told to judge all things and this is not a contradiction to what Jesus has said. You must learn the differences.

Romans 14:1-13
1 Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations.
2 For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs.
3 Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him.

The Apostle Paul is directly speaking to Christians here. He is not speaking of those that are in the world who have not yet come out of the world.

4 Who art thou that judgest another man’s servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.
5 One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.

If the Sabbath day rest was to be observed in the New Testament as it was in the Old Testament then the Apostle Paul would not say “One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.” We learn else where in Romans as well as in Colossians that after Christ came we were delivered from the Old Testament Law. “For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.” (Rm 10:4) “Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.” (Col 2:16-17) The Law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ and only a shadow of what was to come. “Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.” (Gal 3:24-25) “For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.” (Heb 10:1)

6 He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.
7 For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself.
8 For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord’s.
9 For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.
10 But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.
11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.
12 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.
13 Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother’s way.

It is very important to understand “that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother’s way.” It is also important to recognize that we do not sit in the judgment seat and therefore we are not judges to judge and to condemn after the flesh. However a person’s actions will reveal whether they are a good tree or whether or not they are a corrupt tree. For us to properly discern this we must know the Word of God and have the Spirit of God. So we must inspect a person to see what they are producing and this must be done after the Spirit of which we are to judge all things including matters in the Church instead of taking it before the unbelievers and to judges and magistrates.

John 3_16

Luke 6:43-46
43 For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
44 For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes.
45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.
46 And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?

The answer to Inspecting, Judging, Condemning, and the Fine Lines is to know whether you are judging after the flesh or after the Spirit. We are told that we are to judge all things! This is to be done after the Spirit!

1 Corinthians 2:10-16
10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.
12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.
16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.

We have the mind of Christ because we have the Spirit of Christ dwelling inside of us. Therefore “he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man” “for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.”

1 Corinthians 4:3-5
3 But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged of you, or of man’s judgment: yea, I judge not mine own self.
4 For I know nothing by myself; yet am I not hereby justified: but he that judgeth me is the Lord.
5 Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God.

Though the Apostle Paul says, “I judge not mine own self” and “Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come” he just previously said, “he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man” “for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.” He then continues and questions are we unworthy to judge and is there not any that can judge between brethren?

1 Corinthians 6:1-8
1 Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unjust, and not before the saints?
2 Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters?
3 Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?
4 If then ye have judgments of things pertaining to this life, set them to judge who are least esteemed in the church.
5 I speak to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you? no, not one that shall be able to judge between his brethren?
6 But brother goeth to law with brother, and that before the unbelievers.
7 Now therefore there is utterly a fault among you, because ye go to law one with another. Why do ye not rather take wrong? why do ye not rather suffer yourselves to be defrauded?
8 Nay, ye do wrong, and defraud, and that your brethren.

The Apostle Paul then goes on to exercise judgment against a brother, however it is for the saving of the person’s soul not for them to be damned.

1 Corinthians 5:1-13
1 It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father’s wife.
2 And ye are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he that hath done this deed might be taken away from among you.
3 For I verily, as absent in body, but present in spirit, have judged already, as though I were present, concerning him that hath so done this deed,
4 In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ,
5 To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.
6 Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?
7 Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:
8 Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
9 I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators:
10 Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world.
11 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.
12 For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within?
13 But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.

However, after a punishment is rendered by the Church if the person is repentive, we being not ignorant of satan’s devices, are to forgive and comfort such a one confirming your love toward them unless they “should be swallowed up with overmuch sorrow.”

2 Corintians 2:5-11
5 But if any have caused grief, he hath not grieved me, but in part: that I may not overcharge you all.
6 Sufficient to such a man is this punishment, which was inflicted of many.
7 So that contrariwise ye ought rather to forgive him, and comfort him, lest perhaps such a one should be swallowed up with overmuch sorrow.
8 Wherefore I beseech you that ye would confirm your love toward him.
9 For to this end also did I write, that I might know the proof of you, whether ye be obedient in all things.
10 To whom ye forgive any thing, I forgive also: for if I forgave any thing, to whom I forgave it, for your sakes forgave I it in the person of Christ;
11 Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

We also are to inspect ourselves whether we be in the faith. We are to prove ourselves and this is to be done by examining the scriptures whether we are in the faith or not.

2 Corinthians 13:5-6
5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?
6 But I trust that ye shall know that we are not reprobates.

We are not to speak evil one of another. “If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well: But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.” (James 2:8-9)

James 4:11-12
11 Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaketh evil of his brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge.
12 There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another?

James 5:9
9 Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned: behold, the judge standeth before the door.

As Christians we want to make absolutely certain that we fully understand the differences between Inspecting, Judging, Condemning, and the Fine Lines. The answer to Inspecting, Judging, Condemning, and the Fine Lines is to know whether you are judging after the flesh or after the Spirit. As Christians we are told that we are to judge all things, but this is to be done after the Spirit and not after the flesh. “But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.” (1 Cor 2:15-16)
