As the children of God we should not be desirous of vain glory. Our reason or motivation for doing the work of the Lord through whatever good works we are involved or participating in should only be for the glory of God, not for vain glory of men. “Then spake Jesus to the multitude, and to his disciples, Saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat: All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not. For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men’s shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers. But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments, And love the uppermost rooms at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues, And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi. But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren. And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven. Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ. But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant. And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.” (Mt 23:1-12)

“And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ. But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons.” (Col 3:23-25) When you labor for the Lord it should be for the sole purpose of bringing glory to God and not unto yourselves. The disciples also had concern of who would be the greatest. “And James and John, the sons of Zebedee, come unto him, saying, Master, we would that thou shouldest do for us whatsoever we shall desire. And he said unto them, What would ye that I should do for you? They said unto him, Grant unto us that we may sit, one on thy right hand, and the other on thy left hand, in thy glory. But Jesus said unto them, Ye know not what ye ask: can ye drink of the cup that I drink of? and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? And they said unto him, We can. And Jesus said unto them, Ye shall indeed drink of the cup that I drink of; and with the baptism that I am baptized withal shall ye be baptized: But to sit on my right hand and on my left hand is not mine to give; but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared. And when the ten heard it, they began to be much displeased with James and John. But Jesus called them to him, and saith unto them, Ye know that they which are accounted to rule over the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and their great ones exercise authority upon them. But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister: And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all. For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.” (Mk 10:35-45)

Let us be as our Master Jesus Christ who “came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.” “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” (Jn 15:13) “Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.” (Gal 5:26)

“And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.” (Eph 2:1-3)

Take careful notice that “the prince of the power of the air” is the same “spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience”. You must understand that you are either on the Lord’s side or you are against him. This doesn’t come down to your judgment of how you see yourself as a good person nor does this come down to your judgment of how you see other people as good people and therefore they must be saved when they die. This is a lie. The only way into the kingdom of God is to be born again exactly how Jesus instructs us of which finds its fulfillment when the Apostle Peter with the other eleven Apostles present tells us what we must do in order to be saved. There is only one correct way to be born again to escape being the children of disobedience, by nature the children of wrath of which the spirit of “the prince of the power of the air” now works in. The person may be the kindest, most loveable person you know who would never do anyone any harm. However, if they aren’t born again the only correct way they are still “the children of disobedience” of which “the prince of the power of the air” “now worketh in”. “He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad.” (Mt 12:30)

“But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.” (2 Cor 4:3-4)

Take careful note again that “if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not”. This also applies to people who claim to be followers of Jesus Christ that refuse to be born again exactly how Jesus instructs us of which is the only correct way into the kingdom of God. This could simply be because they have never heard the correct way to be born again of which all hope is for them and they will receive of this message when they hear the only correct way to be born again so that they are no longer “the children of disobedience” and “by nature the children of wrath, even as others.” However, it could be because “the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not” “according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience” and they still are “by nature the children of wrath, even as others.” These people can be people that go to Church faithfully and do many good works for the community, the people around them, and even financially supporting many good works to spread the gospel message to other parts of the world. However, the gospel message they are funding and supporting, and following themselves is not the only correct way into the kingdom of God and they still will be lost.

Jesus said, “I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.” (Lk 13:3) “He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.” (Mk 16:16) “And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. And ye are witnesses of these things. And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.” (Lk 24:47-49) “Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;” (Jn 17:20)

This is their word and the only correct way to be born again as Jesus instructed after they obeyed him going to Jerusalem and being “endued with power from on high” which was the pouring out of God’s Spirit upon the believers where they received the Holy Ghost which is found in the book of Acts chapter 2:1-4. This is their word for the only correct way to be born again, “Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.” (Acts 2:38-39) The Apostle Paul later stressing to us “And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.” (Col 3:17) This would include the baptism even as you see the Apostle Peter giving to all of mankind the one and only way to be born again. “Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.”

Why seek after the hidden or the dead among the living? Is there not a God? When I was a child somewhere under the age of ten my brother and I were looking for something at our grandmother’s house and could not find it. I don’t recall what it was, but my brother who is 4 years older than me said to me, pray and ask God to reveal it to you. I asked him what does reveal mean? He told me and so I prayed that God would reveal to us what we were looking for. Little did I know that those words would become so important later in my life in a backslidden condition.

I had lost a set of keys on a key chain that were very important and had looked everywhere I could think of and I needed them immediately. At that time my brother had his own rented apartment and I had already checked his house and our house. I then thought call one of them psychics you hear about. I was well aware that this was wrong, but in the heat of the moment I ignored the clear danger that existed in doing this.

I went online and found a website that I had seen advertised on a TV commercial ad and all through this I felt the Spirit of God bringing conviction and letting me know that this was not to be done especially since I knew I was going to call someone who would most likely be possessed of the devil and since I had a close walk with God that I was currently struggling with, though God is only a repentance away, I went against God and my better judgment and wrote the number down and went straight to the telephone and dialed the number. All the while knowing that being filled with the Holy Ghost, which is the Holy Spirit, it was almost assuredly going to be directed to someone possessed of the devil and for some reason I was hoping that I could just get the answer for where those keys were and that be the end of it, but knowing I might end up in an absolute spiritual attack much greater than the spiritual attack I was currently fighting or I would never have been tempted to call the psychic to begin with and take it seriously and not immediately reject the idea even though temptations come. The sin if you are not aware, is not being tempted, but when you are tempted how do you respond to the temptation.

“Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him. Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. Do not err, my beloved brethren.” (James 1:12-16)

So the question is why didn’t I just ask God to help me? The answer was I didn’t have enough faith to believe that God would help me find something as trivial as a set of keys and I was struggling with many short comings in my life as all people can relate to at some point in their life.

I’m sure you are wondering what took place when I dialed that number. As I was dialing the number I was feeling anxiety because God was convicting me and I was fearful of what might take place and what this psychic, who would likely be possessed with the devil, would begin to tell me about my life. While my plan was to cut them off and just say if you know the answer to where this set of keys is that is all I need. Otherwise I’m hanging up.

The phone rang one time and before anyone could answer God impressed into my mind what my brother had told me all those many years ago and I hung the phone up as quick as possible before anyone answered. God had reminded me of that day so long ago concerning asking him to reveal to me what my brother and I were looking for. See the mercy, grace, and the love of God?

I then repented of my sins to God and I asked God to reveal to me where I had left that set of keys. God immediately revealed it to me. Even after all of that worry, ignoring conviction by God, and dialing a number calling someone most likely to be possessed of the devil for an answer to my question, God still intervened in an instant.

As soon as God revealed to me where that set of keys was located the only way for me to truly know if it were so was to drive to my brother’s house again and this time look behind some objects on a bookshelf where I had placed them the night before, so that no one would find them and possibly steal them as we had company at his apartment house the night before.

I was confident that they would be there because the Lord had intervened and brought it back to my remembrance and when I arrived at his house I went straight to the bookshelf and looked behind the objects that were there and sure enough the set of keys were sitting right there.

So why go to the devil for help when there is a God who will not deceive you nor lure you in with some truth and then lies and before you know it end up calling psychics for all your unanswered questions and for advice while opening yourself up to demonic attacks that those not filled with the Spirit of the Lord could become themselves possessed of the devil? Those who are filled with the Spirit of the Lord could still open up themselves to demonic oppression and great spiritual battles that you may not even be aware of that is taking place.

Why seek after the hidden or the dead among the living when there is a God who will help you with every situation in your life? Repent of your sins and go to God for help. However, instead of getting upset if God doesn’t answer your prayer immediately like he did for me, knowing that
“there is no respect of persons” with God, follow these scriptures instead.

“Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.” (Mt 6:31-34) “Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.” (Mt 5:6) “But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons.” (Col 3:25)

Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.” (Jn 3:16-21) Jesus Christ came to seek and to save that which was lost. “For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.” (Lk 19:10) Which would be the entire human race. “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.” (Rm 3:23-26) We were all born in sin because of the sin of Adam and Eve and therefore were/are in need of a savior of which is Jesus the Christ the Son of the living God. “Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.” “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:” (Rm 5:12) “But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many. And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification. For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.) Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.” (Rm 5:15-19) Jesus said, “I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.” (Jn 8:24) Who is Jesus the Christ? “And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.” (1 Jn 5:20) There is no other name under heaven whereby men can be saved but by Jesus Christ. “Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” (Acts 4:10-12) Jesus Christ said we all must be born again to see or enter into the kingdom of God. “Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born? Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.” (Jn 3:3-5) To be born again of water and of the Spirit as Jesus instructed Nicodemus that we all must do you must partake of Jesus Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection. “Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:” (1 Cor 15:1-4) We are told in scripture exactly how we are to partake of this wonderful plan of Salvation given to us by God. “Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ. Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.” (Acts 2:36-39) This promise is to “even as many as the Lord our God shall call.” You may wonder if you are called? “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9) “I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star. And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.” (Rev 22:16-17)

“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.” (Heb 12:1-3)

Seeing we have such a great cloud of witnesses and the God of all things who came in the flesh to redeem us from the law of sin and death that we might be partakers of his divine nature, “let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.”

It isn’t enough to just lay down your sins, but we must also keep our own bodies under subjection to the Father of spirits, and live. “For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.” (Mt 16:26-27) “But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.” (Mt 12:36-37)

Is it to much time reading clean books that is keeping you from producing fruit? Is it to many movies and yard work that is keeping you from the Word of God and soul winning for the kingdom of God? Has clean entertainment replaced your passion and desire to labor in the kingdom of God for lost souls destined for the Lake of Fire burning with brimstone that will never be quenched where the worm dies not?

“For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.” (Lk 19:10) “He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.” (1 Jn 2:6) “I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples. As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love. If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love. These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you. Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. These things I command you, that ye love one another. If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also. But all these things will they do unto you for my name’s sake, because they know not him that sent me. If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloke for their sin. He that hateth me hateth my Father also. If I had not done among them the works which none other man did, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen and hated both me and my Father. But this cometh to pass, that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause. But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me: And ye also shall bear witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning.” (Jn 15:1-27)

It’s never to late to find repentance.

All of us have fallen short of the glory of God. The scripture says, “Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.” (Psalms 51:5)

Though each one of us have sinned and are worthy of death, we do not have to continue after the life we once lived. Each one of us have the opportunity to repent of our sins. It’s never to late!!

True repentance is acknowledging that we are all worthy of death before God because of our inherited sins from Adam, then being sorry for the sins that we have committed in our lifetime, and the turning away from those sins to follow after God. This is true repentance.

We have a merciful and faithful high priest, Jesus Christ the righteous!! We can come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. It doesn’t matter what you have done in your life, it’s never to late to obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. But you must be willing to repent of your sins and turn away from them to follow after God.

It’s never to late to find hope. But you must believe that God is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek after him. You too can have this hope!! “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” (Hebrews 11:1)

We can freely obtain this hope by our faith in God’s Word, the Bible. Despite your circumstances that you find yourself in, we have all hope in Christ, and it’s never to late to obtain this hope. But for you to find this hope in Christ, you need to repent of your sins and obey the Gospel.

It’s never to late to find life in Christ Jesus!!

The Gospel is the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We partake of this gospel by repenting of our sins and being baptized in Jesus name for the remission of our sins. We are then promised the gift of the Holy Ghost. It’s never to late to find this life in Christ Jesus!!

Jesus Christ died for each one of us that we might have life and that more abundantly. This life is only found in Jesus Christ the Son of the living God. And you too can have this hope of eternal life in Christ Jesus.

It’s never to late for you to turn from your sinful lifestyle and to follow after righteousness in Christ Jesus. But you must surrender your will to his will. You must pick up your cross and follow after him if you are to inherit eternal life through him.

What is your soul worth to you? Your next bowl of soup as it was to Esau? Or maybe it’s Hollywood? Your next fix?

And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits? And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? (Luke 12:16-20)

There is hope in Christ for each one of you, but to whom will you choose to serve? Righteousness unto eternal life or sin unto eternal death? The choice is yours!!

It’s never to late to make the choice to serve God, but you are also not promised your next breath! Harden not your heart against God! But rather choose to repent of your sins and to become obedient unto the gospel of Jesus Christ that you might have eternal life through him.

As we know there are many scriptures in the Bible. Many of which if applied would bring forth drastic changes in one’s behavior. Yet we as every day people find them difficult to remember at times and our focus is often distracted by something else. So why do we continue to struggle with keeping the scriptures alive in our life as we continue our daily lives as followers of Christ?

There is tremendous discipline that needs to be exercised to follow after the path of life that was laid out for us by Jesus Christ and his Apostles as well as his disciples. The good news in this is as followers of Jesus Christ we can fail to apply the scriptures and continue to fall over and over and over again and the Lord Jesus grants us grace to ask for forgiveness and we try again.

How many of us can truly say that we have select scriptures in our life that control our behavior and we are consciously working on applying them continuously in our lives so that we can perfect them? Martial artists train with great discipline and fervor. Another words great passion and pain goes into becoming the best or just even rising to newer heights. But consider with me for a moment how much different your life would be and of those around you if you just applied these five examples I now share with you.

Example 1

And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these. (Mark 12:29-31)

Example 2

But in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. (Philippians 2:3) And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise. (Luke 6:31)

Example 3

Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding; If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God. (Prov 2:2-5)

When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul; Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee: To deliver thee from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaketh froward things; Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness; (Prov 2:10-13)

Example 4

Now therefore hearken unto me, O ye children: for blessed are they that keep my ways. Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not. Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors. For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD. But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love death. (Prov 8:32-36)

Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding. For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold. She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her. Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour. Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth her. (Prov 3:13-18)

Example 5

Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart: So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man. Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. (Prov 3:3-6 )

The LORD knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be for ever. They shall not be ashamed in the evil time: and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied. But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the LORD shall be as the fat of lambs: they shall consume; into smoke shall they consume away. The wicked borroweth, and payeth not again: but the righteous sheweth mercy, and giveth. For such as be blessed of him shall inherit the earth; and they that be cursed of him shall be cut off. The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand. I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread. He is ever merciful, and lendeth; and his seed is blessed. Depart from evil, and do good; and dwell for evermore. For the LORD loveth judgment, and forsaketh not his saints; they are preserved for ever: but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off. The righteous shall inherit the land, and dwell therein for ever. The mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom, and his tongue talketh of judgment. The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide.

Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.” (James 1:12-15)

Temptations will always come forth. The question is how will you respond when they come? Will you give into the temptation? Will you deny yourself the desires that you are craving? The Apostle James let’s us know “Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.”

The answer. “Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?” (Mt 16:24-26) How do you overcome temptations? The Apostle James says, “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.” (James 4:7-8) “Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.” (Rm 12:21) “Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able. When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are: Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets. But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out. And they shall come from the east, and from the west, and from the north, and from the south, and shall sit down in the kingdom of God. And, behold, there are last which shall be first, and there are first which shall be last.” (Lk 13:24-30)

“My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.” (James 1:2-8)

It is not a sin to be tempted! The sin is when you give into the temptation. “Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.” (James 1:15) “O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.” (Rm 7:24-25) “For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.” (Rm 8:5-18)

“And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.” (Mt 9:35-38)

The harvest truly is plenteous!! However the laborers are few!! We were told to pray therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth laborers into his harvest!! Pray that he will send you!! It is the Lord’s harvest and we need Laborers in the Harvest!!

“For the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which went out early in the morning to hire labourers into his vineyard. And when he had agreed with the labourers for a penny a day, he sent them into his vineyard. And he went out about the third hour, and saw others standing idle in the marketplace, And said unto them; Go ye also into the vineyard, and whatsoever is right I will give you. And they went their way. Again he went out about the sixth and ninth hour, and did likewise. And about the eleventh hour he went out, and found others standing idle, and saith unto them, Why stand ye here all the day idle? They say unto him, Because no man hath hired us. He saith unto them, Go ye also into the vineyard; and whatsoever is right, that shall ye receive. So when even was come, the lord of the vineyard saith unto his steward, Call the labourers, and give them their hire, beginning from the last unto the first. And when they came that were hired about the eleventh hour, they received every man a penny. But when the first came, they supposed that they should have received more; and they likewise received every man a penny. And when they had received it, they murmured against the goodman of the house, Saying, These last have wrought but one hour, and thou hast made them equal unto us, which have borne the burden and heat of the day. But he answered one of them, and said, Friend, I do thee no wrong: didst not thou agree with me for a penny? Take that thine is, and go thy way: I will give unto this last, even as unto thee. Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine own? Is thine eye evil, because I am good? So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen.” (Mt 20:1-16)

For we are laborers together!! Notice that there were those that were hired even at the eleventh hour!! Even so the Lord in this late hour is still looking for Laborers in the Harvest!! Are you a willing vessel? Pray therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth laborers into his harvest for there is much work to be done in these last days!! “Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law. And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.” (Rm 13:10-12)

Soul winning is the heartbeat of God!! We desperately need Laborers in the Harvest!! Those who labor in the harvest are working for the kingdom of God!! We need Laborers in the Harvest all over the world!! There can never be enough Laborers in the Harvest!! Will you be a Laborer in the Lord’s harvest? Will you work for the kingdom of God? Will you cultivate the ground you are entrusted with? Will you plant seeds of righteousness, truth and mercy? Will you water the ground with your tears? Will you nurture the precious fruit of the Earth?

The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.” (Mt 9:37-38) Pray he will send you!!

“And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.” (Col 3:14-17)

“Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord: Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;” (Heb 12:14-15)

Peace is a process whereby you let the peace of God rule in your hearts. This takes an understanding of the Word of God and how you are to conduct your behavior so that you can truly let the peace of God rule in your hearts. “A wise man feareth, and departeth from evil: but the fool rageth, and is confident.” (Pro 14:16) You must understand the Word of God and follow after it’s teachings so that you can fear God and depart from evil. “And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.” (Job 28:28)

In the time period that we live in we hear of peace talks and negotiations continuously in the news. Peace doesn’t just happen it is something you must work on. For Christians this involves having faith and trust in God. Working on disciplining yourself to applying the verses of scriptures that you need to help you to experience the peace of God in any given situation.

How do you respond in your various circumstances. Do you allow the peace of God to rule in your hearts? Are you thankful? Being thankful is a very important part of the process of having the peace of God in your life. Are you singing spiritual songs in your heart to the Lord? Are you controlling your anger? Are you showing mercy and forgiveness to those around you?

Pray and ask God to help you to let the peace of God rule in your hearts recognizing that for the peace of God to rule in your hearts that you will have to change the way you are thinking and responding to circumstances in your life or something other than the peace of God will be ruling in your heart!
