“Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell. And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.” (Mt 5:27-30)

It has been said that this is not to be taken literally. However, it is very clear that it is better to part with that which is offending you than to have your whole body cast into hell. Though these are extreme measures and I would highly suggest repenting of your sins and getting right with God, you can not deny what is written and spoken by the Master Jesus Christ. Again, “And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire: Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.” (Mark 9:43-48) The point is well taken. If a part of your body is causing you to fail, it would be better to not have it than to go to hell where the fire is not quenched!

However, God is a loving and caring God. “Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.” (Mt 18:21-22) “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 Jn 1:9) “But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many. And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification. For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)” (Rm 5:15-17) “Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” (Heb 4:14-16)

“Hell and destruction are never full; so the eyes of man are never satisfied.” (Prov 27:20) No matter how much you lust in the flesh “the eyes of man are never satisfied”. There is a difference between the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and neither of them are of God. Understand. “Hell and destruction are never full; so the eyes of man are never satisfied.” (Prov 27:20) You can never get enough!

“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.” (1 Jn 2:15-17)

“Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.” (Rm 12:21)

“Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.” (Rm 6:12-14)

“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.” (James 4:7-8)

“Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.” (2 Tim 2:22)

It’s never to late to find repentance.

All of us have fallen short of the glory of God. The scripture says, “Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.” (Psalms 51:5)

Though each one of us have sinned and are worthy of death, we do not have to continue after the life we once lived. Each one of us have the opportunity to repent of our sins. It’s never to late!!

True repentance is acknowledging that we are all worthy of death before God because of our inherited sins from Adam, then being sorry for the sins that we have committed in our lifetime, and the turning away from those sins to follow after God. This is true repentance.

We have a merciful and faithful high priest, Jesus Christ the righteous!! We can come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. It doesn’t matter what you have done in your life, it’s never to late to obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. But you must be willing to repent of your sins and turn away from them to follow after God.

It’s never to late to find hope. But you must believe that God is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek after him. You too can have this hope!! “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” (Hebrews 11:1)

We can freely obtain this hope by our faith in God’s Word, the Bible. Despite your circumstances that you find yourself in, we have all hope in Christ, and it’s never to late to obtain this hope. But for you to find this hope in Christ, you need to repent of your sins and obey the Gospel.

It’s never to late to find life in Christ Jesus!!

The Gospel is the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We partake of this gospel by repenting of our sins and being baptized in Jesus name for the remission of our sins. We are then promised the gift of the Holy Ghost. It’s never to late to find this life in Christ Jesus!!

Jesus Christ died for each one of us that we might have life and that more abundantly. This life is only found in Jesus Christ the Son of the living God. And you too can have this hope of eternal life in Christ Jesus.

It’s never to late for you to turn from your sinful lifestyle and to follow after righteousness in Christ Jesus. But you must surrender your will to his will. You must pick up your cross and follow after him if you are to inherit eternal life through him.

What is your soul worth to you? Your next bowl of soup as it was to Esau? Or maybe it’s Hollywood? Your next fix?

And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits? And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? (Luke 12:16-20)

There is hope in Christ for each one of you, but to whom will you choose to serve? Righteousness unto eternal life or sin unto eternal death? The choice is yours!!

It’s never to late to make the choice to serve God, but you are also not promised your next breath! Harden not your heart against God! But rather choose to repent of your sins and to become obedient unto the gospel of Jesus Christ that you might have eternal life through him.

1 Corinthians 15:1-4
1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

Are you Saved

The Gospel is the Death, Burial, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ!

Luke 13:1-5
1 There were present at that season some that told him of the Galilaeans, whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.
2 And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above all the Galilaeans, because they suffered such things?
3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
4 Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem?
5 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

According to Jesus we must repent or we will perish!

Mark 16:15-16
15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

According to Jesus we must believe, repent, and be baptized or we will be damned!

Matthew 28:18-20
18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

According to Jesus we must believe, repent, and be baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost!

What is the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost????????

Jesus gives us this answer!!!!

Luke 24:44-53
44 And he (Jesus) said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.
45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,
46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:
47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

According to Jesus repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name. His name is Jesus.

48 And ye are witnesses of these things.
49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.

The promise that Jesus is speaking of is the Holy Ghost or Holy Spirit!

John 14:16-18
16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

Here Jesus expressly tells His disciples that He is the Comforter or the Holy Spirit that will dwell inside of you!

John 14:26
26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

So the name of the Holy Ghost is Jesus!!!

Acts 2:37-39
37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

The name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost fulfilled!!!!!

Jesus told His disciples that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name. Jesus told His disciples that He is the Comforter or the Holy Spirit that will dwell inside of you!

The Apostles understood and fulfilled what the Lord Jesus Christ said.

Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

Ephesians 2:19-20
19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;
20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;

Jesus Christ was an Apostle!!!!

Hebrews 3:1
Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;

To fulfill what Jesus spoke, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

YOU MUST BE BAPTIZED IN HIS NAME!!!!

Acts 2:38-39
38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

Come let us Grow Together: The Circumcision of Christ

Come let us Grow Together is a weekly series that deals with the many topical categories that exist within the Word of God.  The purpose of this series is to grow in wisdom, knowledge, and understanding in things pertaining to God.

So what takes place in water baptism anyway??

In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; (Col  2:11-13)

This is crucial to understand.  Once you have repented and then you are baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, you must have faith in the operation of God.  The operation of the circumcision of Christ, or the cutting away of your sins!!!!

This takes place in the baptism as you are buried with Him and then believing that just as God raised Jesus from the dead in like manner you now are to walk in newness of life.

Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin. (Rom 6:3-7)

Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. (Gal 3:24-27)

Not only is it in the water that we are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, or the cutting away of our sins that takes place, it is also when we put on the name of Christ.  That is why it is so important that when you are baptized, that you are baptized in the name of Jesus Christ.  For that is when you take on His name.

And one Ananias, a devout man according to the law, having a good report of all the Jews which dwelt there, Came unto me, and stood, and said unto me, Brother Saul, receive thy sight. And the same hour I looked up upon him. And he said, The God of our fathers hath chosen thee, that thou shouldest know his will, and see that Just One, and shouldest hear the voice of his mouth. For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard. And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord. (Acts 22:12-16)

Here again, we see that it is in the water baptism, that your sins are cut away with the circumcision made without hands, and thus why we invoke the name of the Lord, for our sins are being washed away.  Not by magic of the water.  But because of the faith of the operation of God.

Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water. The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ: (1 Peter 3:20-21)

This particular passage many times is used to try to justify that baptism is not necessary and  nothing more than the answer of a good conscience toward God. But this is to ignore all the other scriptures as well as what was spoken, “The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us.”  Just as the water saved Noah and his family, even so does water baptism in Jesus name now save us from our inherited sins from birth.

The Apostle Peter is the very one that told us, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.  For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. (Acts 2:38-39)

Here, the Apostle Peter has again stressed, that just as Noah was saved by water, we also by like figure are saved by water through baptism.  Then stating, not the putting away of the filth of the flesh.  Meaning, we aren’t getting into the water to be baptized for the flesh but for our souls.  It is the answer of a good conscience toward God, because of our faith of the operation of God, which was the circumcision of Christ, the circumcision made without hands.  The cutting away or washing away of our sins!!!!

Matthew 3:1-2
1  In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea,
2  And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

The Greek word in use for repent is:
3340. metanoeo, met-an-o-eh’-o; from G3326 and G3539; to think differently or afterwards, i.e. reconsider (morally feel compunction):–repent.

Compunction:  a feeling of guilt or moral scruple that prevents or follows wrongdoing.

Repent:  feel or express sincere regret or remorse.

So repentance is not only a feeling of regret or remorse for doing something wrong, but is also the changing of one’s mind or purpose afterwards.  Repenting requires a change in one’s direction of thinking.  The change that is taking place when you repent for a sin you have committed before God is the changing of one’s mind or will to follow after the will of God.  A surrendering of your will to that of God’s will.  God’s will for us is to keep His commandments. (Jn 14:15)

Continuing from Matthew 3
5  Then went out to him Jerusalem, and all Judaea, and all the region round about Jordan,
6  And were baptized of him in Jordan, confessing their sins.

When you repent for your sins, you are both acknowledging and admitting your guilt of these sins before God.

Continuing from Matthew 3
7  But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?
8  Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance:

Notice that in order for you to repent you must bring forth fruits meet for repentance.  This again, is stressing the importance for us to not only acknowledge our wrongdoing and our guilt for our sins, but to be sorry for our sins and deciding to turn away from these sins to follow after God.

Remember a person is known by the fruit they produce.

Matthew 7:21
16  Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
17  Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
18  A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
19  Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
20  Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
21  Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

Notice that not all that say Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but those that do the will of God.  Again the will of God is to keep His commandments.  (Jn 14:15)

Mark 1:14-15
14  Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,
15  And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.

Notice the instructions given were to repent and to believe the Gospel.  If you believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ and desire to obtain salvation of the Lord, then you must repent.   For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God. (Rom 3:23)

Luke 13:2-5
2  And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above all the Galilaeans, because they suffered such things?
3  I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
4  Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem?
5  I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

Repenting is not a choice but a commandment.  You must repent of your sins or you will perish.

2 Corinthians 7:10
10  For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.

Repentance is only the beginning of living your life after Christ.  Repentance is the changing of your mind from following after your ways, and following after God’s ways.  Meaning, you must surrender your will to the will of God.  You must deny your flesh and follow after Christ.

This is not being saved by your own works.  This is being saved by grace through faith.  The Lord knew that it was impossible for mankind to live above sin by his own power.  So He made a way for us to be pardoned of our sins.  The Lord died in our place to redeem us from sin, for the soul that sins, it shall die. (Ezek 18:20)

In order for us to escape this Law of Sin and Death, the Lord died on the cross for our sins as our substitute.  So that we could now partake of being born again.  Not a natural birthing process of being born again of the flesh.  But a spiritual birth that is fulfilled by taking part of the Lord’s death, burial, and resurrection.  For we were all born in sin and shapen in iniquity. (Psa 51:5)

Repentance is only the first step in the new birth or the born again process.  The fulfillment of the born again process or the new birth is found in:

Acts 2:37-39
37  Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
38  Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
39  For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

Repenting or repentance is not a one time occurrence.  The Lord knew that it was impossible for mankind to not fall short and find that they have sinned before the Lord.  So He made a way for us to overcome sin by asking for forgivingness of our sins.  The Lord set us free from the condemnation of the Mosaic Law and brought forth justification of life.  But in order for you to obtain this justification of life, you must have partaken of the born again process and then repent when you make a mistake!!!!!

Romans 3:19-20
19  Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.
20  Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

Galatians 4:4-5
4  But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,
5  To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.

In order for you to receive this adoption of being a son of God, you must partake of the new birth process of believing, repenting of your sins, and being born of water (baptism in Jesus name) and of the Spirit (receiving the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in another tongue as the Spirit gives the utterance), or you cannot enter into the kingdom of God.  (See Mk 1:14-15; Jn 3:1-7, Mk 16:16; Acts 2:1-4, Acts 2:36-39)

That is the Word of God!!!!  Such a simple thing to do.

Romans 8:1-2
1  There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
2  For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

Again, this only applies to those that have the Spirit of life, which is the Spirit of Christ, which is the Spirit of God, which is the Holy Spirit, which will come into you with the evidence of speaking in another tongue as the Spirit gives the utterance.

You Must be born again!!!!!!  Or you will not receive justification of life.

Also notice that the Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the Law of Sin and Death.  For the soul that sins, it shall die.  It is a PROMISE!!!  (Ezek 18:20)

Also remember that what this is saying is that we are not living under condemnation (referring to the Mosaic Law, not the Law of Sin and Death) but we are living unto justification of life. Meaning, you don’t beat yourself up when you make a mistake and sin, (which is condemnation) but you instead repent of your sins, by telling God you are sorry for them, and ask Him to forgive you.

Knowing this………..

1 John 1:8-10
8  If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9  If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (Freed from condemnation to live unto justification of life)
10  If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

Hebrews 4:14-16
14  Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.
15  For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
16  Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.  (Freed from condemnation to live unto justification of life)

Unless you REPENT you will die in your sins!!!!!!

Ezekiel 18:23-29
23  Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord GOD: and not that he should return from his ways, and live?
24  But when the righteous turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and doeth according to all the abominations that the wicked man doeth, shall he live? All his righteousness that he hath done shall not be mentioned: in his trespass that he hath trespassed, and in his sin that he hath sinned, in them shall he die.
25  Yet ye say, The way of the Lord is not equal. Hear now, O house of Israel; Is not my way equal? are not your ways unequal?
26  When a righteous man turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and dieth in them; for his iniquity that he hath done shall he die.
27  Again, when the wicked man turneth away from his wickedness that he hath committed, and doeth that which is lawful and right, he shall save his soul alive.
28  Because he considereth, and turneth away from all his transgressions that he hath committed, he shall surely live, he shall not die.
29  Yet saith the house of Israel, The way of the Lord is not equal. O house of Israel, are not my ways equal? are not your ways unequal?

In conclusion, repentance is more than just saying I am sorry, but repentance is a feeling of regret or remorse for doing something wrong as well as the changing of one’s direction.  This directional change is the changing of one’s mind or will to follow after the will of God.  Repentance is not an option but a commandment.

Repenting is the first step taken toward the new birth experience of being born again, as well as an on going act every time you come short of the glory of God and find that you have sinned.  For the Law of Sin and Death is not the same as the Mosaic Law.

The Mosaic Law given to Moses at Mount Sinai, was given that all mouths may be stopped and that all may become guilty before God.  Thus proving that no man’s works could save him from sin and thus the need of a Savior, Jesus Christ the Righteous.

Jesus Christ never destroyed the Mosaic Law, but rather He fulfilled the Law.  In order for you to receive this fulfillment of the Law you must partake of the Lord’s death, burial, and resurrection.

To partake of the Lord’s death, burial, and resurrection, you must repent and be baptized (immersed in water) in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and receive the gift of the Holy Ghost, which comes into you with the evidence of speaking in another tongue as the Spirit gives the utterance.

This Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus sets us free from the Law of Sin and Death while at the same time fulfills the Mosaic Law.  This fulfilling of the Mosaic Law frees us from the guilt and condemnation of not being able to be saved by our own works, but rather we are saved by the Law of Faith which allows us, by God’s grace, to have access to the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus, which now dwells inside of us because we have been born of His Spirit.

Thus through the Law of Faith we have access to the Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus, which fulfilled the Mosaic Law of works, wherein no man is justified, and now we are justified freely by Jesus Christ without the works of the Mosaic Law.

However, if we sin we fall back under the Law of Sin and Death, which is why the Lord, our High Priest who is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins, tells us to come boldly before the throne of grace in time of need.  Because no man can be justified by their own works.  But instead we are justified by Jesus Christ, without the works of the Mosaic Law, through the Law of Faith.

Come let us Grow Together: Instruction

Come let us Grow Together is a weekly series that deals with the many topical categories that exist within the Word of God.  The purpose of this series is to grow in wisdom, knowledge, and understanding in things pertaining to God.

Receive my instruction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than choice gold. (Pro 8:10)  For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?  Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? (Mk 8:36-37)  Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is thy life. (Pro 4:13)

Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. (Jn 3:5-7)

And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above all the Galilaeans, because they suffered such things? I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. (Lk 13:2-3)

Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not. Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors. For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD. But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love death. (Pro 8:33-36)

And he (Jesus) said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; (Mk 16:15-17)

The ear that heareth the reproof of life abideth among the wise. He that refuseth instruction despiseth his own soul: but he that heareth reproof getteth understanding. (Pro 15:32)

Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. And ye are witnesses of these things. And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high. (Lk 24:45-49)

And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. (Acts 2:1-4)

For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people. To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear. (Isa 28:11-12)

Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. (Acts 2:38-39)

And as many as were ordained to eternal life believed. (Acts 13:48b)
