Come let us Grow Together: Crucify your Flesh

Come let us Grow Together is a weekly series that deals with the many topical categories that exist within the Word of God. The purpose of this series is to grow in wisdom, knowledge, and understanding in things pertaining to God.

If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple. (Lk 14:26-27)

Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. (Mt 16:24)

We must pick up our cross, deny ourselves, and follow after Jesus Christ to be His disciple. We must stop catering to the flesh. We must love the Lord more than anything else and place Him first in our lives.

And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these. (Mk 12:29-31)

Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law. (Rm 13:10)

We must learn to discipline ourselves and apply the teachings of the Word of God if we are to abide in life.

He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked. (1 Jn 2:6)

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. (Jn 15:13-14)

If we care about others we need to sacrifice ourselves for them. We need to be there for them. We need to keep our repentance and follow after God!!

Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. (Gal 6:2) Let us seek after compassion and love!! Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous: (1 Peter 3:8)

According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: (2 Peter 1:3-10)

Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. (2 Tim 2:19)

Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? (Rm 6:16)

Come let us Grow Together: All Scripture is Inspired by God

Come let us Grow Together is a weekly series that deals with the many topical categories that exist within the Word of God. The purpose of this series is to grow in wisdom, knowledge, and understanding in things pertaining to God.

“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.” (2 Tim 3:16-17)

All scripture is inspired by God. Not some scriptures are and some are not. This is very important to understand. If everyone would follow after this verse of scripture, there would not be any divisions in Christianity. However, not everyone is applying this scripture.

When you apply this scripture there will never be a time that you will stack one scripture against another scripture to eliminate one or the other. Also when you apply this scripture there will never be a time when you ignore a scripture because you do not understand what it means.

All scripture is inspired by God and therefore all scripture must work together for one to gain doctrinal understanding. “Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts. For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:” (Isa 28:9-10)

“How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?” (Pro 1:22)

Many people do not understand that when they lack knowledge, desire, or time to seek the knowledge of the Word of God that they are rejecting knowledge. “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” (Hos 4:6)

“Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away. And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection. But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.” (Lk 8:11-15)

But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it!!! Keep the Word!!! Keep the Word and Live!!! Yea, I say unto you Live!!!

“For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel’s, the same shall save it.” (Mk 8:35)

Keep the Word of Life and Live!!!

“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.” (Pro 9:10)

Many people believe that they are fearing the Lord and seeking Him, but do not realize that their understanding of salvation is wrong. Many others when they do hear the plan of salvation and have it explained to them, receive it with understanding, but then they do not act upon it and over time they begin to forget what they were taught. And still there are others when they do hear the plan of salvation and have it explained to them, receive it with understanding, who then begin to consider the ramifications of what it will mean to them to start to apply these doctrinal changes in their life.

Hear the Word of the Lord!!!

“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee,” (Hos 4:6)

He that hath ears to hear, let him hear!!!

Baptismal Formula:

Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. (Acts 2:38)

(For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) (Acts 8:16)

Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days. (Acts 10:47-48)

The name of the Lord is Jesus.

And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him. (Acts 8:36-38)

Even though we are not told how the Eunuch was baptized in this verse we know from the other accounts how he was baptized… in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins.

And Crispus, the chief ruler of the synagogue, believed on the Lord with all his house; and many of the Corinthians hearing believed, and were baptized. (Acts 18:8)

Again the gospel of Jesus Christ was preached and the believers were baptized. How were they baptized? The same way the Bible tells us to… in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins.

And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John’s baptism. Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. (Acts 19:3-5)

The Apostle Paul was also baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins.

And he said, The God of our fathers hath chosen thee, that thou shouldest know his will, and see that Just One, and shouldest hear the voice of his mouth. For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard. And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord. (Acts 22:14-16)

The name of the Lord is Jesus.

Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? (Rom 6:3)

The believers were baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins.

Now this I say, that every one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ. Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Paul? I thank God that I baptized none of you, but Crispus and Gaius; Lest any should say that I had baptized in mine own name.

But the Apostle Paul did not baptize in his own name but in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins.

“And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.” (Col 2:10-12)

The name of Christ is Jesus and as many as have repented of their sins and have been baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins have had their sins remitted by the circumcision of Christ: Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God.

Not baptized repeating the titles of the Lord Jesus, but in the name of the titles. The name of the titles of the Lord is Jesus.

And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. (Mt 28:18-20)

Unto what then were ye baptized?

Luke 12:4-5
4  And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.
5  But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.

Proverbs 1:1-8
1  The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel;
2  To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding;
3  To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity;
4  To give subtlety to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion.
5  A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:
6  To understand a proverb, and the interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings.
7  The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
8  My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother:

Proverbs 1:20-33
20  Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets:
21  She crieth in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates: in the city she uttereth her words, saying,
22  How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?
23  Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.
24  Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;
25  But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof:
26  I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;
27  When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.
28  Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:
29  For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD:
30  They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof.
31  Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.
32  For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.
33  But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.

Proverbs 2:1-11
1  My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;
2  So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;
3  Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;
4  If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;
5  Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.
6  For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.
7  He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.
8  He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints.
9  Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path.
10  When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul;
11  Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:

Proverbs 3:9-26
9  Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:
10  So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.
11  My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of his correction:
12  For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.
13  Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.
14  For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold.
15  She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her.
16  Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour.
17  Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.
18  She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth her.
19  The LORD by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens.
20  By his knowledge the depths are broken up, and the clouds drop down the dew.
21  My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion:
22  So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace to thy neck.
23  Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble.
24  When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet.
25  Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh.
26  For the LORD shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken.

Proverbs 4:5-27
5  Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.
6  Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee.
7  Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.
8  Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her.
9  She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee.
10  Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of thy life shall be many.
11  I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths.
12  When thou goest, thy steps shall not be straitened; and when thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble.
13  Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is thy life.
14  Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men.
15  Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away.
16  For they sleep not, except they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall.
17  For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence.
18  But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.
19  The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.
20  My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.
21  Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.
22  For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.
23  Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
24  Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee.
25  Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.
26  Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.
27  Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.

Proverbs 8:12-36
12  I wisdom dwell with prudence, and find out knowledge of witty inventions.
13  The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.
14  Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom: I am understanding; I have strength.
15  By me kings reign, and princes decree justice.
16  By me princes rule, and nobles, even all the judges of the earth.
17  I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.
18  Riches and honour are with me; yea, durable riches and righteousness.
19  My fruit is better than gold, yea, than fine gold; and my revenue than choice silver.
20  I lead in the way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of judgment:
21  That I may cause those that love me to inherit substance; and I will fill their treasures.
22  The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old.
23  I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was.
24  When there were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no fountains abounding with water.
25  Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth:
26  While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the highest part of the dust of the world.
27  When he prepared the heavens, I was there: when he set a compass upon the face of the depth:
28  When he established the clouds above: when he strengthened the fountains of the deep:
29  When he gave to the sea his decree, that the waters should not pass his commandment: when he appointed the foundations of the earth:
30  Then I was by him, as one brought up with him: and I was daily his delight, rejoicing always before him;
31  Rejoicing in the habitable part of his earth; and my delights were with the sons of men.
32  Now therefore hearken unto me, O ye children: for blessed are they that keep my ways.
33  Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not.
34  Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors.
35  For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD.
36  But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love death.

James 1:5-8
5  If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
6  But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
7  For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.
8  A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

Psalms 34:11-16
11  Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the LORD.
12  What man is he that desireth life, and loveth many days, that he may see good?
13  Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile.
14  Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.
15  The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry.
16  The face of the LORD is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.

Job 27:4-23
4  My lips shall not speak wickedness, nor my tongue utter deceit.
5  God forbid that I should justify you: till I die I will not remove mine integrity from me.
6  My righteousness I hold fast, and will not let it go: my heart shall not reproach me so long as I live.
7  Let mine enemy be as the wicked, and he that riseth up against me as the unrighteous.
8  For what is the hope of the hypocrite, though he hath gained, when God taketh away his soul?
9  Will God hear his cry when trouble cometh upon him?
10  Will he delight himself in the Almighty? will he always call upon God?
11  I will teach you by the hand of God: that which is with the Almighty will I not conceal.
12  Behold, all ye yourselves have seen it; why then are ye thus altogether vain?
13  This is the portion of a wicked man with God, and the heritage of oppressors, which they shall receive of the Almighty.
14  If his children be multiplied, it is for the sword: and his offspring shall not be satisfied with bread.
15  Those that remain of him shall be buried in death: and his widows shall not weep.
16  Though he heap up silver as the dust, and prepare raiment as the clay;
17  He may prepare it, but the just shall put it on, and the innocent shall divide the silver.
18  He buildeth his house as a moth, and as a booth that the keeper maketh.
19  The rich man shall lie down, but he shall not be gathered: he openeth his eyes, and he is not.
20  Terrors take hold on him as waters, a tempest stealeth him away in the night.
21  The east wind carrieth him away, and he departeth: and as a storm hurleth him out of his place.
22  For God shall cast upon him, and not spare: he would fain flee out of his hand.
23  Men shall clap their hands at him, and shall hiss him out of his place.

Job 28:1-28
1  Surely there is a vein for the silver, and a place for gold where they fine it.
2  Iron is taken out of the earth, and brass is molten out of the stone.
3  He setteth an end to darkness, and searcheth out all perfection: the stones of darkness, and the shadow of death.
4  The flood breaketh out from the inhabitant; even the waters forgotten of the foot: they are dried up, they are gone away from men.
5  As for the earth, out of it cometh bread: and under it is turned up as it were fire.
6  The stones of it are the place of sapphires: and it hath dust of gold.
7  There is a path which no fowl knoweth, and which the vulture’s eye hath not seen:
8  The lion’s whelps have not trodden it, nor the fierce lion passed by it.
9  He putteth forth his hand upon the rock; he overturneth the mountains by the roots.
10  He cutteth out rivers among the rocks; and his eye seeth every precious thing.
11  He bindeth the floods from overflowing; and the thing that is hid bringeth he forth to light.
12  But where shall wisdom be found? and where is the place of understanding?
13  Man knoweth not the price thereof; neither is it found in the land of the living.
14  The depth saith, It is not in me: and the sea saith, It is not with me.
15  It cannot be gotten for gold, neither shall silver be weighed for the price thereof.
16  It cannot be valued with the gold of Ophir, with the precious onyx, or the sapphire.
17  The gold and the crystal cannot equal it: and the exchange of it shall not be for jewels of fine gold.
18  No mention shall be made of coral, or of pearls: for the price of wisdom is above rubies.
19  The topaz of Ethiopia shall not equal it, neither shall it be valued with pure gold.
20  Whence then cometh wisdom? and where is the place of understanding?
21  Seeing it is hid from the eyes of all living, and kept close from the fowls of the air.
22  Destruction and death say, We have heard the fame thereof with our ears.
23  God understandeth the way thereof, and he knoweth the place thereof.
24  For he looketh to the ends of the earth, and seeth under the whole heaven;
25  To make the weight for the winds; and he weigheth the waters by measure.
26  When he made a decree for the rain, and a way for the lightning of the thunder:
27  Then did he see it, and declare it; he prepared it, yea, and searched it out.
28  And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.

James 1:5-6
5  If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
6  But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.

James 3:13-18
13  Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him show out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.
14  But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.
15  This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.
16  For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.
17  But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
18  And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.

3  Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;
4  If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;
5  Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.

Proverbs 2:10-12
10  When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul;
11  Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:
12  To deliver thee from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaketh froward things;

Proverbs 3:13-18
13  Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.

15  She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her.
16  Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour.

18  She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth her.

Proverbs 4:7-9
7  Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.

Proverbs 5:1-13
1  My son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my understanding:
2  That thou mayest regard discretion, and that thy lips may keep knowledge.
3  For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil:
4  But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a twoedged sword.
5  Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell.
6  Lest thou shouldest ponder the path of life, her ways are moveable, that thou canst not know them.
7  Hear me now therefore, O ye children, and depart not from the words of my mouth.
8  Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house:
9  Lest thou give thine honour unto others, and thy years unto the cruel:
10  Lest strangers be filled with thy wealth; and thy labours be in the house of a stranger;
11  And thou mourn at the last, when thy flesh and thy body are consumed,
12  And say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof;
13  And have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine ear to them that instructed me!

13  A foolish woman is clamorous: she is simple, and knoweth nothing.
14  For she sitteth at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the city,
15  To call passengers who go right on their ways:
16  Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: and as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,

4  A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit.
5  A fool despiseth his father’s instruction: but he that regardeth reproof is prudent.
6  In the house of the righteous is much treasure: but in the revenues of the wicked is trouble.
7  The lips of the wise disperse knowledge: but the heart of the foolish doeth not so.
8  The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD: but the prayer of the upright is his delight.
9  The way of the wicked is an abomination unto the LORD: but he loveth him that followeth after righteousness.
10  Correction is grievous unto him that forsaketh the way: and he that hateth reproof shall die.
11  Hell and destruction are before the LORD: how much more then the hearts of the children of men?
12  A scorner loveth not one that reproveth him: neither will he go unto the wise.
13  A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.
14  The heart of him that hath understanding seeketh knowledge: but the mouth of fools feedeth on foolishness.
15  All the days of the afflicted are evil: but he that is of a merry heart hath a continual feast.
16  Better is little with the fear of the LORD than great treasure and trouble therewith.

Proverbs 17:27-28
27  He that hath knowledge spareth his words: and a man of understanding is of an excellent spirit.
28  Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding.

Proverbs 6:23-29
23  For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:
24  To keep thee from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman.
25  Lust not after her beauty in thine heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids.
26  For by means of a whorish woman a man is brought to a piece of bread: and the adulteress will hunt for the precious life.
27  Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned?
