Daily Devotional – Who is he that is a son of God

Who is he that is a son of God but he that is born of God. Who is he that is born of God but he that is born of water and of the Spirit. Who is he that is born of water but he that is baptized into his death. Who is he that is baptized into his death but he that is to walk in newness of life. Who is he that my Spirit will dwell in but he that is born of the Word. Who is he that is born of the Word but he who hears and obeys.

Do you understand how to be born again? Are you one that hears and obeys? “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” (Jn 1:12-13) “Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.” (Jn 3:5) “Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.” (Rm 6:3-4) “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.” (1 Peter 1:23) “Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” (Acts 2:38) This is the only way to be born again; by applying Acts 2:38 in your life.

Daily Devotional – Despise not thou the Chastening of the Lord

And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him: For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons. (Heb 12:5-8)

Are you a son of God or do you resist chastisement? “If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons”. “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.” (Rm 8:14-18)

Daily Devotional – For Consider Him that Endured such Contradiction of Sinners against Himself

Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross (Heb 12:1-2a) For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself…. (Heb 12:3a)

What is stealing your time away that is causing you not to produce fruit for the kingdom of God? What is the weight(s) or the sin(s)? It’s time to examine yourself and do some pruning. “And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.” (Mt 3:10) As we run this race with patience we should be producing fruit continually. “But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.” (Lk 8:15) “Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.” (Jn 15:4) Jesus looked ahead at “the joy that was set before him” and “endured the cross”. If we are to bear fruit we need to remember Jesus. “For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.” (Heb 12:3) “Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.” (Jn 15:8)

Daily Devotional – You are the Temple of the Living God

YE are the TEMPLE of the LIVING God; as God hath said, I will DWELL in them, and WALK in them; and I will be THEIR God, and THEY shall be MY people. Wherefore COME OUT from among them, and be ye SEPARATE, saith the Lord, and TOUCH NOT the UNCLEAN thing; and I will RECEIVE you. (Cor 6:16-17)

Did you know that when you are born again you are no longer your own? “For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.” (1 Cor 6:20) God demands that we keep ourselves from the world. “Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.” (Jms 1:27) “For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication: That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;” (1 Thess 4:3-4) “Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.” (2 Tim 2:19)

Daily Devotional – His Servants ye are to Whom ye Obey

KNOW ye not, that to WHOM ye YIELD yourselves servants to OBEY, his SERVANTS ye are to WHOM ye OBEY; whether of SIN unto DEATH, or of OBEDIENCE unto RIGHTEOUSNESS? But God be THANKED, that ye WERE the SERVANTS of SIN, but ye HAVE OBEYED from the HEART that form of DOCTRINE [Acts 2:38 & 2 Cor 7:1] WHICH was DELIVERED YOU. (Rm 6:16-17)

Do you know what form of doctrine that was delivered to them? It is the same doctrine that the Apostle Peter delivered when the day of Pentecost had fully come. “Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” (Acts 2:38) The same doctrine the Apostle Paul delivered, “When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.” (Acts 19:5-6) After partaking of the plan of salvation for all of mankind we are to go on living a life of holiness. “Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.” (2 Cor 7:1)

Daily Devotional – The Perfect Law of Liberty

“But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.” (Jms 1:22) “But whoso looketh into THE PERFECT LAW OF LIBERTY, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.” (Jms 1:25)

Do you know what the Perfect Law of Liberty is? This Perfect Law of Liberty that the Apostle James is referring to is the Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus. For where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. We gain access to this Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus by the Law of Faith. “Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.” (2 Cor 3:17) “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.” (Rm 8:1-2) “Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.” (Rm 3:27)

Daily Devotional – Faith without Works is Dead being Alone

Faith without works is dead being alone. (text from James 2:17) If I say that I have faith that a smoke detector will save me if my home were to catch fire, and I purchase a smoke detector that instructs me that I must install a battery, and I did not. If my home were to catch fire, would the smoke detector save me? Was I obedient to my faith in the smoke detector?

Many people confuse the works of faith with the works of the Law of Moses. “Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.” (Jms 2:17) Faith takes action to make it complete otherwise it is dead faith. If you have faith in something and place your trust in it, then you will have corresponding actions that will make your faith complete. “Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?” (Jms 2:21) Abraham’s faith was made complete when he obeyed God and placed his son on the altar to slay him the scriptures saying, “By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son, Of whom it was said, That in Isaac shall thy seed be called: Accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead; from whence also he received him in a figure.” (Heb 11:17-19) “Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.” (Jms 2:22-23) “For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.” (Jms 2:26)

Daily Devotional – Obedience of Faith

Now to HIM that is of POWER to STABLISH you according to my GOSPEL, and the PREACHING of JESUS CHRIST, according to the REVELATION of the MYSTERY, which was kept SECRET since the WORLD began, But now is made MANIFEST, and by the SCRIPTURES of the PROPHETS, according to the COMMANDMENT of the EVERLASTING God, made KNOWN to ALL NATIONS for the OBEDIENCE OF FAITH: To God only WISE, be GLORY through JESUS CHRIST for EVER. Amen.” (Rm 16:25-27)

Did you know that obedience is and has always been what the Lord requires of us. From Adam and Eve, Noah and the ark, Abram offering up Isaac his only son to God, Moses and the Law, or the obedience of today to the Lord’s death, burial, and resurrection; by partaking of the Lord’s death (repentance), burial (water baptism in Jesus name), and resurrection (being filled with the Holy Ghost) which is Acts 2:38, “Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” If you love me, keep my commandments.

Daily Devotional – A Body hast thou Prepared Me

Wherefore WHEN HE COMETH into the WORLD, HE SAITH, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a BODY hast thou PREPARED me: In burnt offerings and sacrifices for SIN thou hast had no pleasure. Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the BOOK it IS WRITTEN of me,) to do thy will, O God. (Heb 10:5-7)

Many people believe that there are conversations taking place in the Godhead because of scriptures like this. However, if you look at the beginning of this scripture it says “when he cometh into the world”. Who came into the world? God did. God is a Spirit. (Jn 4:24) When God came into the world he took on a body. In other words God had taken on humanity as well. The God-man. Fully God and Fully man at the same time. So when the Word that was God from John 1:1 became flesh John 1:14 then he was in the world. Furthermore we must remember that these are prophecies. When God prophesies through man this doesn’t mean a literal conversation was taking place in heaven. Just like the case with the Lord speaking to Cyrus. “Thus saith the LORD to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have holden, to subdue nations before him; and I will loose the loins of kings, to open before him the two leaved gates; and the gates shall not be shut;” (Isa 45:1) Was this a literal conversation between God and Cyrus? The answer is no. The Lord spoke it through the Prophet Isaiah two hundred years before Cyrus was born and it was recorded so that it might be an undeniable evidence of the exactness of God’s foreknowledge. It was recorded and fulfilled in it’s proper time just like the prophecies concerning the Messiah.

Daily Devotional – If Thou Canst Tell?

Who hath ASCENDED up into HEAVEN, or DESCENDED? who hath GATHERED the wind in his fists? who hath BOUND the waters in a garment? who hath ESTABLISHED ALL the ENDS of the EARTH? what IS HIS NAME, and WHAT IS HIS SON’S NAME, if thou CANST TELL? (Pro 30:4) I have DECLARED unto THEM thy NAME, and WILL DECLARE it: that the LOVE wherewith thou hast LOVED ME may be IN them, and I in them. (Jn 17:26) ANYBODY KNOW THAT NAME?

Did you know that Agur made this prophecy concerning the name of our God? Look carefully at this prophecy and you will find that the name of the Father and the name of his Son is one and the same name. It is Jesus that ascended up into heaven and it was Jesus who descended to Earth. “And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.” (Jn 3:13) It is of great importance to take notice that Jesus said Son of man which refers to the flesh of God of which Jesus did not take on until his birth of the virgin Mary. Yet at this time Jesus was now saying that he was both on Earth and in Heaven as the Son of man at the same time. This because Jesus was Emmanuel which being interpreted is, God with us. “What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before?” (Jn 6:62) “Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.” (Mt 1:23) “As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me. This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.” (Jn 6:57-58) It was Jesus that established all the ends of the earth. “And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ:” (Eph 3:9) Jesus said, “I and my Father are one.” (Jn 10:30) Jesus received his name by inheritance. “Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.” “I am come in my Father’s name, and ye receive me not. (Jn 5:43a) “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things” (Jn 14:26a) “And I have declared unto them thy name.” (Jn 17:26a) “For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named.” (Eph 3:14-15) The prophecy of Agur concerning the name of our God revealed and fulfilled in the name of Jesus Christ. “And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.” (1 Jn 5:20)
