We are His Witnesses

Isaiah 43:10-11
10 Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.
11 I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour.

1 Peter 3:12-15
12 For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.
13 And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good?
14 But and if ye suffer for righteousness’ sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled;
15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:

It is of the utmost importance that we as the witnesses of Jesus Christ, are always ready to give a scriptural account of the hope we have within us. This hope not only pertaining to the plan of salvation, but to everything that witnesses of the hope that lies within us.

Some examples could be: how you overcome trials and tribulations, why you live a separated life from the world, I thought once you were saved, you were always saved, etc.

As you can see, to be an effective witness, one must have a knowledge of the Word of God, and then they need to be a humble servant of Christ and present this information with meekness (quiet, gentle, and submissive) and (in the) fear (of the Lord).

2 Timothy 2:24-26
24 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,
25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

As we learn here from the Apostle Paul, we must not strive or fight vigorously against those who oppose themselves. We must be gentle and patient. And again in meekness as we give instruction. And then perhaps, or maybe, God will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth.

Remember the parable of the sower……

Luke 8:11-15
11 Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.
12 Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.
13 They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.
14 And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection.
15 But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.

We need not strive or debate the Word of God with anyone. As you can see by the Word of God, the receiving of the Word is a heart condition. Those who hear the Word with an honest and a good heart, and keep the Word, will bring forth fruit with patience.

As a witness of Jesus Christ, one of the first and most important scripture verses for opening up someone’s eyes to the possibility of being misinformed with the knowledge of Christ that they have been taught, is….

2 Timothy 3:16
16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, Not some scripture is and others are not.
This verse clearly states that All scripture is profitable for doctrine. All scripture is profitable for reproof. All scripture is profitable for correction. All scripture is profitable for instruction in righteousness.

This teaches us that we can not stack one scripture against another to justify why we choose to only apply certain Bible verses in our walk with God. I would like to give 3 examples of how people commonly use one scripture to reject another.

Example 1

John 3:16 (accepted)
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Mark 16:16 (rejected)
16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

Yet we have learned that all scripture is inspired by God and profitable for doctrine.

Example 2

Romans 10:9 (accepted)
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Acts 2:38 (rejected)
38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Example 3

Ephesians 2:8 (accepted)
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Acts 22:16 (rejected)
16 And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.

When you are witnessing to someone, be sure to introduce 2 Timothy 3:16 into the conversation so that you can show the person that we should never use one scripture against another, but rather all scripture will work together.

After you have opened up their eyes to the acknowledging that all scripture is inspired by God and profitable for doctrine, reproof, correction, and instruction in righteousness, a great follow up is to explain to them, how the scriptures are set up.

Isaiah 28:9-13
9 Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts.
10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:
11 For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people.
12 To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.
13 But the word of the LORD was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.

The prophet Isaiah is telling us that knowledge and the understanding of doctrine, comes by studying the scriptures one line at a time. Which is line upon line. And also by one precept at a time. Which is a rule that governs one’s behavior or thought, which would be a commandment. So, he is saying we learn by one commandment at a time, and by studying the scriptures one line upon another line, one commandment upon another. Gaining knowledge here a little and there a little.

Meaning part of the information you need for a particular subject is found in one book of the Bible while more of the information you need is found in other books of the Bible.

God purposed this for man so that we would study the scriptures. God is looking for someone who truly loves Him and is seeking Him. These type of people, will search the scriptures, pray about them, learn from teachers, and will always consider all possible meanings of the verse at hand, because they want to make certain, they are obeying the Gospel correctly. It is to these people, that God will open the scriptures up to, because the scriptures are spiritually discerned.

1 Corinthians 2:12-15
12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.

Now I would like for you to take notice of Isaiah 28:13 again.

Isaiah 28:13
13 But the word of the LORD was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.

This verse here is speaking of the Jews. The Jews had been disobedient over and over to the LORD. In His Jealousy, He decided that He would go to another people who were not a people. This being (us) the Gentiles.

So Isaiah tells us that the word of the LORD to the Jews was one commandment upon another, one line upon another, until it caused them to be snared. It became a trap to them. The Word of God is written in a way, that God reveals to some, while concealing it from others. The answer for why, is because of seeing whether you have an honest or a dishonest heart. Do you truly love Him and will you obey what he says, or will you not truly love Him and decide to build your own plan of salvation from the scriptures. Listen to Jesus give the answer to His disciples.

Matthew 13:10-15
10 And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?
11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.
12 For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.
13 Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.
14 And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:
15 For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

You may have read this just now, and missed the answer to why this happens. The answer is verse 15. Jesus tells us, their hearts is waxed gross, their ears are dull of hearing, and here is the answer to why they don’t see, for their eyes they have closed. Least at any time they should open their eyes and see, which would allow them to open their ears, to hear, which would bring understanding to their heart, which would bring repentance and conversion, and then Jesus would heal them.

Jesus is looking for a bride that truly loves Him. Someone Obedient and Faithful to Him. Thus scriptures were deliberately set up to either ensnare you if you love not the truth, or if you do love the truth, the spirit will open your understanding. Let me show you who the gospel is hid from and who it is revealed to.

Matthew 11:25
25 At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.

2 Corinthians 4:1-4
1 Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not;
2 But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.
3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:
4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

This goes right along with what Jesus answered to His disciples concerning them that had shut their own eyes. Now we find out that because they believed not, the god of this world has blinded their minds. So the Gospel is only hidden to the Wise, Prudent, and to them that are lost. Yet it is revealed to babes.

2 Peter 3:13-18
13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.
15 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;
16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.
17 Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.
18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

As the witnesses of Jesus Christ it is important to understand how the scriptures are set up and that all scripture is inspired by God. This knowledge will allow you to quickly assess whether the person you are speaking with is hungry for truth. If they are, this will lead to many other questions from them. As the Lord’s witnesses we must be prepared to answer these questions by growing in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ as we have just been instructed.

Come let us Grow Together: No good thing will He Withhold from them that Walk Uprightly

Come let us Grow Together is a weekly series that deals with the many topical categories that exist within the Word of God. The purpose of this series is to grow in wisdom, knowledge, and understanding in things pertaining to God.

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. (Heb 11:6)

O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him. O fear the LORD, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him. The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing. (Psa 34:8-10)

Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all. (Psa 34:19) The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. (James 5:16b) Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: (1 Peter 5:6)

The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.
And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not
forsaken them that seek thee. (Psa 9:9-10)

Be ye not as the horse, or as the mule, which have no understanding: whose mouth must be held in with bit and bridle, lest they come near unto thee. Many sorrows shall be to the wicked: but he that trusteth in the LORD, mercy shall compass him about. (Psa 32:9-10)

Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience. Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy. (James 5:10-11)

Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. (James 5:13a)

In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came unto him, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Set thine house in order: for thou shalt die, and not live. Then Hezekiah turned his face toward the wall, and prayed unto the LORD, And said, Remember now, O LORD, I beseech thee, how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore. (Isa 38:1-3)

Then came the word of the LORD to Isaiah, saying, Go, and say to Hezekiah, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will add unto thy days fifteen years. And I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria: and I will defend this city. (Isa 38:4-6)

Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. (Psa 37:3-5)

The LORD is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth. He will fulfil the desire of them that fear him: he also will hear their cry, and will save them. The LORD preserveth all them that love him: but all the wicked will he destroy. (Psa 145:18-20)

Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost. (Rom 15:13)

And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. (1 Jn 3:22)

And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him. (1 Jn 5:14-15)

Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, (Eph 3:20) be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen. (1 Tim 1:17b)

Understanding Water Baptism

I would like to start with a short introduction of how we are saved by grace through faith. This includes understanding what the grace of God teaches us and how faith operates which leads us to how we are born again of water and of the Spirit as Jesus instructs us. This process of being born again can only be found by applying Acts 2:38 and there is no other way.

Ephesians 2:8
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

To be saved by grace you have to apply what grace teaches you. To be saved through faith you must apply how faith operates.

Grace teaches us:

Titus 2:11-12
11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

Faith operates by love.

Galatians 5:6
6 For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.

Grace teaches us: to deny ungodliness and worldly lusts, to live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world.

Jesus said,

John 14:15
15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.

So to fulfill what the Apostle Paul spoke in:

Ephesians 2:8
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

You must then apply the process of each into the verse.

Ephesians 2:8 Brackets inserted by me
8 For by grace [which teaches us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world] are ye saved through faith; [which worketh by love.] and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

So if faith works by love, and Jesus said, If ye love me, keep my commandments; then you are saved by grace through obedient faith which works by love, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of grace given by God.

1 John 5:3
3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

With this understanding of how grace works and how faith operates

You then must remember that….

2 Timothy 3:16
16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

Then we all follow after what Jesus tells us to do, which is….

Jesus told us we must repent.

Luke 13:3,5
3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
5 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

Jesus told us we must believe and be baptized.

Mark 16:16
16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

Matthew 28:19
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

Jesus told his disciples what to do and revealed the name to them.

Luke 24:47
47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

The disciples were obedient and fulfilled both Matthew 28:19 and Luke 24:47.

Acts 2:38-39
38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

Colossians 3:17
17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

This would include the baptism.

The foundation that the Gospel stands on….

Ephesians 2:20
20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;

Jesus was both an Apostle and Prophet.

Hebrews 3:1
1 Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;

Deuteronomy 18:15-19
15 The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken;
16 According to all that thou desiredst of the LORD thy God in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, Let me not hear again the voice of the LORD my God, neither let me see this great fire any more, that I die not.
17 And the LORD said unto me, They have well spoken that which they have spoken.
18 I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.
19 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.

Acts 3:22-24
22 For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you.
23 And it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people.
24 Yea, and all the prophets from Samuel and those that follow after, as many as have spoken, have likewise foretold of these days.

The Misunderstanding of the Roman’s Road

According to the teaching of the Romans road, which is the supposed road of salvation found throughout the book of Romans, a believer is brought to the knowledge that every one of us are in need of salvation because “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.” (Romans 3:10-11) “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God”. (Romans 3:23) And since there is none righteous and all have sinned and come short of the glory of God, we are under the penalty of sin. “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23)

However we can escape death! Because of the great love and mercy of God! “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8) Since Christ took our place we can now find salvation through him! And how do we partake of such great salvation as this?

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” (Romans 9:9-10) “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13)

Who can argue with that! Sounds fantastic!! Looks like a great breakdown and summary of all anyone needs to do to find the great plan of salvation that God has outlined for us to follow! Just follow the Roman’s Road!

However, there is GRAVE ERRORS IN THIS TEACHING!!! AND GREAT FOLLY!!!

This summary teaches a person that all they need to do is acknowledge that they are a sinner. Acknowledge that God gave his Son Jesus to die for our sins. And then to confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, believing that God raised him from the dead, and YOU WILL BE SAVED!!! For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. WRONG!!!!

This condensed summary known as the Roman’s Road is a road to HELLFIRE!!!! It is laced with the POISON OF ASPS!!!!

Matthew 7:21-24
21 NOT EVERY ONE THAT SAITH UNTO ME, LORD, LORD, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that DOETH THE WILL of my Father which is in heaven.
22 MANY WILL SAY TO ME IN THAT DAY, LORD, LORD, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I NEVER KNEW YOU: depart from me, YE THAT WORK INIQUITY.
24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and DOETH THEM, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:

Very clearly Jesus tells us that not every one the cries Lord, Lord to him will be saved as the false teaching of the Roman’s Road declares! You may say, is this not a contradiction of scriptures? The answer is no. It is scripture TAKEN OUT OF CONTEXT!!!!

According to the Roman’s Road theology, one does not even have to repent of their sins in order to obtain salvation. Though there are slight variations where some will teach that you must repent of your sins, it is lacking in the scripture teaching that is being used and thus there are people who will tell you all you need to do is acknowledge that you are a sinner, while also acknowledging that God gave his Son Jesus to die for our sins, and then just believe in your heart unto righteousness; and with your mouth confess that Jesus is Lord and you will be saved!

Jeremiah 17:9
9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

Proverbs 28:26
26 He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.

Proverbs 18:2
2 A fool hath no delight in understanding, but that his heart may discover itself.

So what is the folly of the Roman’s Road theology? It is scripture TAKEN OUT OF CONTEXT!!!! It is scripture that is not following after Isaiah 28:9-12 “Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts. For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little: For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people. To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.”

For with what? Stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people? To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear?

This is referring to the receiving of the Holy Ghost when the day of Pentecost was fully come after the ascension of Jesus Christ! This outpouring of the Holy Ghost of which the believers were receiving, was being poured out by Jesus Christ! “This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses. Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.” (Acts 2:32-33) This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing!! “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30) “In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.) Many of the people therefore, when they heard this saying, said, Of a truth this is the Prophet.” (John 7:37-40) YET THEY WOULD NOT HEAR!!!! “How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?” (Romans 10:14-16)

These scriptures are mysteriously lacking from the Roman’s Road, even though it is THE NEXT VERSES OF SCRIPTURE AFTER SAYING, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13)

The Roman’s Road takes a leap frog over the book of Acts where we learn of the birth of the New Testament Church as the believers were gathered together at Jerusalem waiting upon the promise of the Holy Ghost to be poured out upon them as was covered in the book of Acts chapter 2. The same chapter where the Comforter, the refreshing, and the rest was given to the believers evidenced with the speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gave them the utterance! (Acts 2:4) Where the plan of Salvation was given to the people in the same chapter after explaining to them that they, the Jews, had crucified their Messiah!

Acts 2:29-41
29 Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day.
30 Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;
31 He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.
32 This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.
33 Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.
34 For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself, The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand,
35 Until I make thy foes thy footstool.
36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.
37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?

There it is!!! The people were cut to the heart and pricked!!! And knowing that they had crucified their Messiah and that what they were witnessing was the outpouring of the Holy Ghost upon the believers of which the Prophet Joel had prophesied to them that would come, they asked the apostles, “MEN AND BRETHREN, WHAT SHALL WE DO?”

38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

EVERY ONE OF YOU!!!

39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

THE PROMISE WAS TO ALL FUTURE GENERATIONS!!!

40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, SAVE YOURSELVES from this untoward generation.
41 Then they that gladly received his word WERE BAPTIZED: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.

As Jesus said, “He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.” (Mark 16:16) Even as the Apostle Peter spoke elsewhere saying, “The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us” (1 Peter 3:21)

Let’s take a closer look at Romans chapter 6.

Romans 6:1-2
1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

Romans 6:16-18
16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.
18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.

Very important to hear and understand! Verse 18 just told us that the form of doctrine that they obeyed from the heart is what allowed them to be made free from sin.

So if we go back to the beginning of this chapter again we will discover the topic of baptism and that of the promise of the Holy Ghost.

Romans 6:1-9
1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

Notice carefully the question asked here, “How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?” The Apostle Paul goes on to explain how we become dead to sin.

3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:

Notice the if clause in verse 5. If we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection. Also in verse 3 the Apostle Paul speaks of the baptism in Jesus name as the way that we are planted together in the likeness of his death. This is that form of doctrine that they obeyed from the heart which was delivered to them.

6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
7 For he that is dead is freed from sin.
8 Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:
9 Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.

If you are not planted together in the likeness of his death, the body of sin will not be destroyed and you will perish in your sins because your old man was not crucified with him and therefore you will not be dead with Christ nor will you be freed from sin that you inherited from Adam.

Colossians 2:10-14
10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:
11 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:
12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.
13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;
14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

This is how you are made free from sin. You are baptized in Jesus name that the body of sin may be destroyed by the circumcision of Christ.

When a person repents of their sins they must also be baptized in Jesus name for the remission of their sins. Because as we just read in Colossians this is where “ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses”.

{Hear both passages of scripture from Colossians and Romans when put together.}
We must die out to sin in repentance and then be baptized into Jesus Christ by invoking his name as we are being baptized that the “circumcision made without hands” might take place “in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ” “that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin.” “And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses” “For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection” “Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him”

Therefore we are baptized for the dead that the circumcision of Christ might take place which destroys the body of sin which we inherited from birth. This takes place in water baptism whereby our sins are remitted or washed away upon the invoking of the name of Jesus Christ through the faith of the operation of God. “For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection”. But you must be planted together in the likeness of his death by being “baptized into Jesus Christ” where we are “baptized into his death”. Or we will not be in the likeness of his resurrection because the body of sin was not destroyed.

This is why Jesus said in…

Mark 16:16
16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

The Apostle Peter tells us that it is by water baptism that we are saved. This is because the body of sin was destroyed by the circumcision made without hands in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised Jesus from the dead.

1 Peter 3:18-21
18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:
19 By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;
20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.
21 The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:

Not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but where the body of sin is destroyed. Your Adamic sins being cut away or washed away by the circumcision made without hands!!

This is why Jesus also told us,

Matthew 28:19
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

And the Apostle’s who were given full understanding of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ understood the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost was the name of Jesus.

And thus the baptismal commission was given by Jesus to baptize them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. And the baptismal formula was given when the day of Pentecost was fully come and the Holy Ghost was poured out upon the believers. The formula being found in Acts 2:38 which reads, “Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.”

In summary, we are to repent of our sins and to be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins. This is where the body of sin is destroyed that the Apostle Paul was referring to when he said, “Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death”. It is then a promise of God that if you repent of your sins and are baptized in Jesus name for the remission of your sins that you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. “For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the LORD our God shall call.”

This is that form of doctrine that was delivered to them that they obeyed from the heart. Thus to these as well as to those of us who have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine that was delivered to us know “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” This being because we were obedient to the gospel of Jesus Christ, which is the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Therefore another GREAT FOLLY OF THE ROMAN’S ROAD OF SALVATION IS THAT THE SAME PEOPLE WHO, “…confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation”, (Romans 10:9-10) (which is the finale of the Roman’s Road false doctrinal teaching) is the same people who just 4 chapters earlier we were told that “…ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.” (Romans 6:17-19)

So now you see how it was that these people were really saved. They obeyed that form of doctrine which was delivered to them and these same people were then given further instruction letting them know that since they had obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered to them as found in the book of Acts 2:38-39 which says, “Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call”; that these same people were then instructed “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation”, (Romans 10:9-10) because they had already partook of the plan of Salvation being obedient unto the faith as fully expounded upon in Romans chapter 6.

Therefore the Roman’s Road of Salvation is really fulfilled in the book of Acts chapter 2:38!!! And the Roman’s Road of Salvation is therefore A FALSE DOCTRINE LACED WITH THE POISON OF ASPS!!!! AND IS IN GRAVE ERROR!!!! FILLED WITH GREAT FOLLY!!!!

If Remission of Sins came by Repentance Alone

Isaiah 28:9-10
9 Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts.
10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:

At this time I would like to demonstrate to you how the many different denominations and diverse doctrines of the Christian world do not apply what the Prophet Isaiah has told us concerning gaining doctrinal knowledge and understanding and how they also do not apply what the Apostle Paul told us concerning all scripture which reads, “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:” (2 Timothy 3:16)

Many people believe that when you believe on Jesus Christ, repent of your sins, and accept Jesus Christ as your personal savior that you are saved. But if this be the case then why are there scriptures that appear to contradict this teaching?

And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord. (Acts 22:16)

If remission of sins came by repentance alone then why did Ananias tell Paul to be baptized calling on the name of the Lord to wash away his sins?

Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. (Acts 2:38)

If remission of sins came by repentance alone then why did the Apostle Peter tell us to repent and be baptized for the remission of sins?

In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; (Col 2:11-14)

If remission of sins came by repentance alone then why did the Apostle Paul tell us that the circumcision of Christ took place when you are buried with him in baptism wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God?

Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. (Jn 3:5-7)

If remission of sins came by repentance alone then why did Jesus tell us we must be born again of water and of the Spirit?

And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one. (1 Jn 5:8)

They agree in being born again. Blood, water, and Spirit = Death (repentance), burial (water baptism in Jesus name), and resurrection (being filled with the Holy Ghost.)

If remission of sins came by repentance alone then why did Apostle John tell us that the blood, water, and Spirit agree in one?

He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. (Mk 16:16)

If remission of sins came by repentance alone then why did Jesus tell us He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved?

ANSWER: Your sins are not remitted when you repent of your sins. They are remitted when you repent and are baptized in Jesus name as says the scriptures. This is why Jesus said he that believes and is baptized shall be saved.

What you are seeing is examples of people not applying how the word of God is set up precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:

Acts 8:14-17
14 Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:
15 Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:
16 (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)
17 Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.

Acts 10:44-48
44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.
45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.
46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,
47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?
48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.

The first thing the Apostle Peter commands them to do is to be baptized in the name of the Lord. It was not an option! He commanded it!! For he knew that in order for you to receive remission of sins that was inherited from your birth, you had to not only repent of your sins, but also be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. For he knew that this was the fulfilling of being born of water as Jesus instructed Nicodemus. Whereas the receiving of the Holy Ghost was the fulfilling of being born of the Spirit as Jesus told Nicodemus.

Acts 19:1-6
1 And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples,
2 He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost.
3 And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John’s baptism.
4 Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.
5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.

Water baptism by submersion is absolutely essential to the new birth experience, or the process of being born again!!!!! Not only is it in the water that we are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, or the cutting away of our sins that takes place, it is also when we put on the name of Christ. That is why it is so important that when you are baptized, that you are baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. For that is when you take on His name.

Listen to this account of what took place when Apostle Paul (Saul of Tarsus) received the Holy Ghost:

Acts 9:17-18
17 And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, that appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost.
18 And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been scales: and he received sight forthwith, and arose, and was baptized.

Many Christian people will try to tell you that when you see many scriptures we refer to as water baptism is actually speaking of Spirit baptism, but here we see very clearly that the Apostle Paul received the Holy Ghost (Spirit baptism) and then he “arose, and was baptized.” Again this showing clearly that the Apostle Paul was born again of water and of the Spirit as Jesus spoke to Nicodemus. Also another strong point here is the Apostle Paul tells us in Ephesians that there is “One Lord, one faith, one baptism,” (Eph 4:5) This is why so many people try to say that many of the scriptures we refer to are actually speaking of Spirit baptism. However, we see that when the Apostle Paul was born again of water and of the Spirit it was clearly shown that he received the Holy Ghost and then “arose, and was baptized.” Thus fulfilling being born again of water and of the Spirit as Jesus instructed Nicodemus.

Now Listen to Apostle Paul retelling this account:

Acts 22:12-16
12 And one Ananias, a devout man according to the law, having a good report of all the Jews which dwelt there,
13 Came unto me, and stood, and said unto me, Brother Saul, receive thy sight. And the same hour I looked up upon him.
14 And he said, The God of our fathers hath chosen thee, that thou shouldest know his will, and see that Just One, and shouldest hear the voice of his mouth.
15 For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard.
16 And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.

Here again, we see that it is in the water baptism, that your sins are cut away with the circumcision made without hands, and thus why we invoke the name of the Lord, for our sins are being washed away. Not by magic of the water. But because of the faith of the operation of God.

It is also important for you to realize that infant baptism or the sprinkling of water being used in baptism is not scriptural. In a nutshell this was instituted by the Catholic Church. A baby can not understand the Gospel and therefore cannot believe the gospel and is unable to confess Jesus as the Lord of their life.

A child should not be baptized until the child has been taught about Jesus and desires then to go to Heaven. At that time you can tell your child that all of mankind was born in sin, and we must repent for those sins. And that means that we are sorry for them and don’t want to do them anymore. If the child confesses that they love Jesus and want to go to Heaven and they tell Jesus they are sorry for all of their sins, it is time to let them know that we also need to be baptized into His name so our sins can be washed away. (Note: of course I am not meaning the water magically makes sin disappear)

If the child then says I want to be baptized. Then they have confessed Jesus, understood that they needed to repent for their inherited sin from Adam, and they have faith that when they are baptized that their sins will be washed away or remitted.

Unfortunately, many people try to refute that being baptized is essential to salvation. In order for them to say this, they directly go against what Jesus spoke when he said, He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved. They also go against the commandment given by Jesus saying, Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.

They also ignore the first message taught by the Apostle Peter when the Holy Ghost was poured out, when he told everyone that they must repent, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and that ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

They ignore that it is in the baptism that the Lord performs the circumcision made without hands. They ignore the words of the Apostle Paul when he tells us what Ananias said concerning the water baptism, which was, “why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.”

They also miss the types and shadows given to us from the Old Testament concerning blood, water, and Spirit.

The children of Israel upon their Exodus was told by God to prepare a lamb without blemish, a male of the first year and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening. And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it. And ye shall eat it in haste: it is the LORD’S passover. For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD. And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt. (Exodus 12:1-28)

1 Corinthians 10:1-2
1 Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;
2 And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;

Here we have a shadow of the New Testament Covenant of salvation of the killing of a lamb without blemish, the shedding of blood, the parting of the water of the Red Sea, and being under the cloud of which was the Spirit of the Lord. This we are told that we should not be ignorant of that they were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea! Again we see that water baptism and Spiritual baptism took place!! Just like Jesus told Nicodemus that we must be born of water and of the Spirit to enter into the kingdom of heaven and just like the Apostle Paul received the Holy Ghost (Spirit baptism) and then he “arose, and was baptized.” (Water Baptism)

1 Peter 3:20-21
20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.
21 The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:

This particular passage many times is used to try to justify that baptism is nothing more than the answer of a good conscience toward God. Again, ignoring all the other scriptures and missing the point of what was spoken.

The Apostle Peter is the very one that told us, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

Here, the Apostle Peter has again stressed, that just as Noah was saved by water, we also by like figure are saved by water through baptism in Jesus name. Then stating, not the putting away of the filth of the flesh. Meaning, we aren’t getting into the water to be baptized for the flesh but for our souls. It is the answer of a good conscience toward God, because of our faith of the operation of God, which was the circumcision of Christ, the circumcision made without hands. The cutting away or washing away of our sins!!!! This is “precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:” and to whom the Lord shall teach knowledge and to whom he shall make to understand doctrine. (Isa 28:9-10)

1 John 5: 6
This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.

John 19:34-35
34 But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.
35 And he that saw it bare record, and his record is true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye might believe.

It was the Spirit that bare this record as we just read in 1 John 5:6 “And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.”

1 John 5: 8
8 And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.

Now we are told that there are three that bear witness in Earth. The Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one. These three agree in how we are born again of water and of the Spirit. We know that the Spirit is the Spirit of Truth, the Holy Ghost; and that when the soldier pierced Jesus’ side, there came out blood and water and the blood of Jesus is applied to us when we are baptized in Jesus name with full water submersion.

So when we Repent, and are baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, it is a promise that you will receive the gift of the Holy Ghost, which will be evidenced with the speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives the utterance.

The Blood of Jesus Christ is applied to us in Water Baptism!! This is something you will hear preached periodically. I have heard our Pastor also say the blood is applied to our sins in water baptism in Jesus name and have heard many Pastors, Evangelists, and Preachers says this.

So how do we know that the blood is applied to our sins in water baptism in Jesus name after we first have repented of our sins?

The answer lies in understanding the Old Testament Covenant and the Earthly Tabernacle which was a type of the Heavenly Tabernacle.

Hebrews 8:1-2
1 Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens;
2 A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man.

Hebrews 9:19-24
19 For when Moses had spoken every precept to all the people according to the law, he took the blood of calves and of goats, with water, and scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book, and all the people,
20 Saying, This is the blood of the testament which God hath enjoined unto you.
21 Moreover he sprinkled with blood both the tabernacle, and all the vessels of the ministry.
22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.
23 It was therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.
24 For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:

Matthew 26:28
28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;
17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more. {Acts 2:38}
18 Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.
19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,
20 By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;
21 And having an high priest over the house of God;
22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. {Acts 2:38}
23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)
Just as the Old Testament the blood and water were mingled and Moses sprinkled the blood of calves and of goats, with water, and scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book, and all the people, Saying, This is the blood of the testament which God hath enjoined unto you and this was only a type of the true tabernacle in the heavens which the Lord pitched, and not man.

In the New Testament Covenant we are to come in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water which takes place in water baptism in Jesus name.

Ephesians 5:24-27
24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.
25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

The washing of water being Acts 2:38 where the blood is applied in the water as we have now been circumcised by the circumcision of Christ, the circumcision made without hands. The cutting away or washing away of our sins!!! And sanctified by the truth as it is written “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.” (John 17:17)

We also see the washing away of blood in the Old Testament Tabernacle when the Levitical priesthood performed animal sacrifices on the Brazen Altar which blood was then washed in the Brazen Laver. Thus the water and blood mingled together.

The Brazen Altar, where the sacrifices were done, was a shadow of Jesus Christ, the sacrificial lamb of God, which was sacrificed as our atonement, to reconcile, which is to restore friendly relations, between us and God. “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;” (1 Tim 2:5)

The Brazen Laver, was a shadow of the water baptism in Jesus name, where our old man is buried with Christ, and His blood remits or washes away our sins.

The Mercy seat, where the Spirit of God met with the high priest once yearly now we have full access by a new and living way. “Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;” (Heb 10:19-20) “The Holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle was yet standing:” (Heb 9:8)

Titus 3:5-6
5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
6 Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;

Again you see water and the Spirit in the washing of regeneration and the continual renewing of the Holy ghost.

The Greek word in use for washing:

loo-tron’ from <G3068> (louo); a bath, i.e. (figurative) baptism :- washing.—Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary

The Greek word in use for regeneration:

pal-ing-ghen-es-ee’-ah from <G3825> (palin) and <G1078> (genesis); (spiritual) rebirth (the state or the act), i.e. (figurative) spiritual renovation; specially Messianic restoration :- regeneration.—Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary

As you can see, if one applies how the word of God is set up precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little while remembering that all scripture is given by inspiration of God, “and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:” (2 Timothy 3:16) the many false doctrines that abound today would cease to be.

So just because you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, does not mean you are saved. Nor are you saved because you repented of your sins. You must fulfill all of what the Lord tells us to do in order to obtain the born again experience.

The lack of understanding is this:

The Gospels told us of the life of Jesus Christ, His teachings, the miracles He performed, His death and His resurrection. And before His ascension into Heaven, He told His followers that they needed to go to Jerusalem and wait upon the promise of the Holy Ghost.

The book of Acts was the establishment of the Church. It contains the fulfillment of the receiving of the Holy Ghost, the message of salvation, the persecution of the Church, the miracles that took place after the death of Jesus, and the fulfilling of what the Lord commanded them to do, which was, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

The Epistles were letters written to the already established Churches and in some cases individuals. The instructions contained in them, were given to instruct the followers of Christ on how they should now live. They already partook and understood that they needed to be born again, by repenting, and being baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of their sins, and they already understood the promise of the receiving of the gift of the Holy Ghost, evidenced by speaking in another tongue as the Spirit gives the utterance.

So the mistakes being made are these: looking into the epistles for the plan of salvation instead of in the book of Acts where the completion of the New Testament Church began. As well as ignoring any scripture that appears to go against the teaching of what they hold to be true.

This ultimately leads to ignoring that all scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness. It also ignores that doctrinal understanding will come precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little.

With this understanding, let’s look again at the subject of water baptism.

Jesus told us, he that believeth and is baptized shall be saved and Jesus also told us except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

John 3:1-7
1 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:
2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.
3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born?
5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

Several things to discuss here. First off this born again process is not a fleshly birth but a spiritual birth as stated in verse 6. Also it is very important to remember that these instructions that were given here are instructions that were given just 7 verses prior to this scripture. 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Yet people will cling to verse 16 and claim to be born again while ignoring everything else Jesus spoke. For instance: Did Jesus not just tell Nicodemus, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God? Did Jesus not also tell us except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. Did Jesus not also tell us He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved.

God did so love the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. That is why we need to follow after the instructions that Jesus gave to us. Not just some of it. All scripture is given by inspiration of God.

So we must be born again of water and of the Spirit. To fulfill being born of water you must be baptized as Jesus said, he that believeth and is baptized shall be saved.

Matthew 28:18-20
18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Notice Jesus said, teach all nations, baptizing them, and teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you. Not just some things. But all things. For all scripture is given by inspiration of God.

So here Jesus tells us to baptize them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. So what is the name?

Jesus tells us the name!

John 5:43a
43 I am come in my Father’s name, and ye receive me not:

John 17:6, 26
6 I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word.
26 And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.

John 14:16-18, 26
16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Luke 24:45-49
45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,
46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:
47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
48 And ye are witnesses of these things.
49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.

Jesus opened their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, and told them what to speak. He told them to preach repentance and remission of sins in His name. And they did!!! He also told them to go to Jerusalem and wait for the promise of the Holy Ghost. They did!!!!

So when the Holy Ghost was poured out as the Lord had promised, the Apostles told everyone, including you and me, what they needed to do in order to obtain salvation.

Notice that the Apostle Peter, preached to them exactly what the Lord told them.

38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

(Lk 24:47 repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.)

(Jn 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.)

The Apostle Peter continues……

39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

The Plan of Salvation for every generation! Remember: The Holy Ghost will come into you with the evidence of speaking in another tongue as the Spirit gives the utterance. (Acts 2:4)

That is enough to tell you that the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost was Jesus. The Apostles did exactly what the Lord told them to do. They preached repentance and remission of sins in His name, with the understanding that the Lord had just given to them, thus fulfilling baptizing everyone in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.

There is not one occurrence given in the Bible of anyone being baptized in the titles of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.

Colossians 3:17
17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

This includes Baptism!!

Jude 1:14-15

15 To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.

Hebrews 3:15-19
15 While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.
16 For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses.
17 But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness?

If you want to ride with Jesus Christ harden not your hearts and believe the gospel so that you can enter into his rest!

Matthew 11:28-30
28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

The rest Jesus is speaking of is the rest and the refreshing which is the Holy Ghost!

The Prophet Isaiah speaks of the rest and the refreshing and prophesies of the Holy Ghost! “For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people. To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.”

The Apostle Paul confirms that the Prophet Isaiah was prophesying of the Holy Ghost which is the rest and the refreshing that Jesus was also speaking of when he said, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

1 Corinthians 14:21-22
21 In the law it is written, With men of other tongues and other lips will I speak unto this people; and yet for all that will they not hear me, saith the Lord.
22 Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not: but prophesying serveth not for them that believe not, but for them which believe.

The Apostle Peter warns us that many people will wrestle with the Apostle Paul’s words unto their own destruction!

2 Peter 3:13-16
13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.
15 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;
16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.

Will you Ride with me? If you want to ride with Jesus Christ you must enter his rest!

Hebrews 4:1-11
1 Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.
2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
3 For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
4 For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.
5 And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest.
6 Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:
7 Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.
8 For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.
9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.
10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.
11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

This rest and refreshing that Jesus Christ will give unto you and the rest that we must “labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief” is speaking of the Holy Ghost that will come into you with the evidence of speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives the utterance, otherwise you do not have the Holy Ghost yet!

Acts 2:1-4
1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Isaiah 28:11-132
11 For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people.
12 To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.

Are you one that will not hear? God forbid! Will you Ride with me?

Acts 2:7-21
7 And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans?
8 And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?
9 Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia,

Joel 2:28-32
28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:
29 And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit.
30 And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke.
31 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come.
32 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call.

Will you Ride with me? When the Prophet Joel prophesied of the Holy Ghost being poured out he also said “And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call.” The time that the Prophet Joel is referencing at this point of his prophecy is when Jesus will return to the Mount of Olives with his saints and the covenant promise of Israel will be fulfilled that their sins will be taken away!

Zechariah 14:1-5
1 Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee.
2 For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city.
3 Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle.
4 And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.
5 And ye shall flee to the valley of the mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azal: yea, ye shall flee, like as ye fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah: and the LORD my God shall come, and all the saints with thee.

Will you Ride with me?

Romans 11:26-29
26 And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:
27 For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.
28 As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the fathers’ sakes.
29 For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.

If you want to ride with Jesus Christ then you must be obedient to the gospel of Jesus Christ and be obedient to how we are to be born again as the Apostle Peter instructs us!

Acts 2:36-47
36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.
37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.
41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.
42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.
43 And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles.
44 And all that believed were together, and had all things common;
45 And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.
46 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,
47 Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

This plan of Salvation was to “even as many as the Lord our God shall call” even though the Apostles did not yet know that God was going to pour out his Spirit upon the Gentiles also!

Acts 8:5-24
5 Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them.
6 And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did.
7 For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed with them: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed.
8 And there was great joy in that city.
9 But there was a certain man, called Simon, which beforetime in the same city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one:
10 To whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is the great power of God.
11 And to him they had regard, because that of long time he had bewitched them with sorceries.
12 But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.
13 Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done.
14 Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:
15 Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:
16 (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)
17 Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.
18 And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles’ hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money,
19 Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost.
20 But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.
21 Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God.
22 Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee.
23 For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity.
24 Then answered Simon, and said, Pray ye to the Lord for me, that none of these things which ye have spoken come upon me.

When the Samaritans received the gospel teaching of Jesus Christ they too repented and were baptized yet the Holy Ghost was not yet given to them. The Holy Ghost is not an automatic experience when you believe upon Jesus Christ, nor when you believe upon Jesus Christ and accept him as your Lord and Savior, nor when you believe upon Jesus Christ, accept him as your Lord and Savior, and repent of your sins, nor when you believe upon Jesus Christ, accept him as your Lord and Savior, and repent of your sins, and our baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus as we see written at verse 16 where we see that after the people had done all these things they still did not have the Holy Ghost and it was needed for salvation or the rest that was spoken of by Jesus and the Prophet Isaiah. So they called for the Apostle Peter and the Apostle John who prayed for them, then laid hands upon the believers, and then they received the Holy Ghost! We know that Simon the sorcerer saw something take place that he desired to purchase with money when the miracles that he had already saw he had not offered money so that he could perform them. We know that he saw them speak with tongues because we were told in prophecy of the coming of the Holy Ghost “For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people. To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.” (Isa 28:11-12) We also saw that this is how all the believers received the Holy Ghost when the day of Pentecost was fully come!

Acts 10:1-8
1 There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band,
2 A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway.
3 He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius.
4 And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.
5 And now send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon, whose surname is Peter:
6 He lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea side: he shall tell thee what thou oughtest to do.
7 And when the angel which spake unto Cornelius was departed, he called two of his household servants, and a devout soldier of them that waited on him continually;
8 And when he had declared all these things unto them, he sent them to Joppa.

The Apostle Peter also has a vision.

Acts 10:9-16
9 On the morrow, as they went on their journey, and drew nigh unto the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray about the sixth hour:
10 And he became very hungry, and would have eaten: but while they made ready, he fell into a trance,
11 And saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending unto him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners, and let down to the earth:
12 Wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air.
13 And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat.
14 But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean.
15 And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.
16 This was done thrice: and the vessel was received up again into heaven.

Acts 10:17-22
17 Now while Peter doubted in himself what this vision which he had seen should mean, behold, the men which were sent from Cornelius had made inquiry for Simon’s house, and stood before the gate,
18 And called, and asked whether Simon, which was surnamed Peter, were lodged there.
19 While Peter thought on the vision, the Spirit said unto him, Behold, three men seek thee.
20 Arise therefore, and get thee down, and go with them, doubting nothing: for I have sent them.

The Lord sent these men on behalf of Cornelius and the Lord told Peter to go with them doubting nothing. Peter was going to tell them all things commanded of him by God.

21 Then Peter went down to the men which were sent unto him from Cornelius; and said, Behold, I am he whom ye seek: what is the cause wherefore ye are come?
22 And they said, Cornelius the centurion, a just man, and one that feareth God, and of good report among all the nation of the Jews, was warned from God by an holy angel to send for thee into his house, and to hear words of thee.

Acts 10:25-28
25 And as Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshipped him.
26 But Peter took him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man.
27 And as he talked with him, he went in, and found many that were come together.
28 And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath showed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.

The understanding of the vision was revealed to the Apostle Peter. But God hath showed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.

Acts 10:29-48
29 Therefore came I unto you without gainsaying, as soon as I was sent for: I ask therefore for what intent ye have sent for me?
30 And Cornelius said, Four days ago I was fasting until this hour; and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house, and, behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing,
31 And said, Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thine alms are had in remembrance in the sight of God.
32 Send therefore to Joppa, and call hither Simon, whose surname is Peter; he is lodged in the house of one Simon a tanner by the sea side: who, when he cometh, shall speak unto thee.
33 Immediately therefore I sent to thee; and thou hast well done that thou art come. Now therefore are we all here present before God, to hear all things that are commanded thee of God.

All things THAT ARE COMMANDED thee of God.

34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:

So what he done for the Jews He will do for the Gentiles.

35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.
36 The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:)
37 That word, I say, ye know, which was published throughout all Judaea, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached;
38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.
39 And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree:
40 Him God raised up the third day, and showed him openly;
41 Not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before of God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead.

The Apostle Peter preached the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ to Cornelius and to his company.

42 And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead.
43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.

The Apostle Peter preached that they were commanded to preach and to testify that Jesus was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead, and Jesus was He whom the prophets gave witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.

Cornelius and his company were believers.

44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.
45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.
46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,
47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?
48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.

This is so very important to understand.

Remember, an Angel of the Lord appeared before Cornelius and told him, “And now send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon, whose surname is Peter: He lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea side: he shall tell thee what thou oughtest to do.” Then God showed the Apostle Peter a vision. “While Peter thought on the vision, the Spirit said unto him, Behold, three men seek thee. Arise therefore, and get thee down, and go with them, doubting nothing: for I have sent them.”

Cornelius then tells Peter what the Angel told him and then says to the Apostle Peter, “Now therefore are we all here present before God, to hear all things that are commanded thee of God.” When Peter heard these words he said, “Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:”

So the Apostle Peter was telling Cornelius and all present what they must do as commanded by God. While they heard the Word of God from the Apostle Peter the Holy Ghost fell upon all of them, “For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God.”

“Then answered Peter, Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?”

Baptism was not an option but clearly a commandment. Even as it was for the Jews when the day of Pentecost had fully come. The people present asked Peter and the rest of the Apostles what they must do, even as Cornelius has asked the Apostle Peter what they must do.

And what they MUST DO WAS THE SAME THING:

This included the Gentiles, though it was not yet known. For God is no respecter of persons.

Acts 10:34-35
34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:
35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.

“For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.”

Remember God gave to Peter the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven!!

Matthew 16:18-19
18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

Acts 19:1-7
1 And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples,
2 He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost.
3 And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John’s baptism.
4 Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.
5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.
7 And all the men were about twelve.

Here the Apostle Paul preaches Jesus to about twelve men who were disciples of John the Baptist and when they heard “they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus” yet the Holy Ghost had not yet fallen upon them. Only after the Apostle Paul lays his hands on them do they receive the Holy Ghost which was evidenced was again with speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives the utterance which is the same experience which took place as with the Apostle Peter preaching Jesus Christ. These men also prophesied. We can also see that the receiving of the Holy Ghost was not meant to be for an interpretation because when a person receives the Holy Ghost they will always speak with other tongues as the Spirit gives the utterance.

Is Baptism Essential to Salvation?

According to the Apostle Peter, who had the keys of the kingdom of heaven, who spoke all that was commanded of God to Cornelius and to his household, which was the same message that was preached to the Jews on the day of Pentecost, for God is no respecter of persons!!

And Jesus also told us, “He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.” (Mk 16:16)

What Method do we use When we get Baptized?

Several things to discuss here. First off this born again process is not a fleshly birth but a spiritual birth as stated in verse 6. Also it is very important to remember that these instructions that were given here are instructions that were given just 7 verses prior to this scripture: 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Yet people will cling to verse 16 and claim to be born again while ignoring everything else Jesus spoke on. For instance: Did Jesus not just tell Nicodemus, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God? Did Jesus not also tell us except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. Did Jesus not also tell us He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved.

To fulfill being born of water you must be baptized as Jesus said, he that believeth and is baptized shall be saved.

So here Jesus tells us to baptize them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. So what is the name?

Jesus tells us the name.

John 5:43a
43 I am come in my Father’s name, and ye receive me not:

So when the Holy Ghost was poured out as the Lord had promised, the Apostles told everyone, including you and me, what they needed to do in order to obtain salvation.

Notice that the Apostle Peter, preached to them exactly what the Lord told them.

38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

(Lk 24:47 repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.)

(Jn 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.)

The Apostle Peter continues……

39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

The Plan of Salvation for every generation! Remember: The Holy Ghost will come into you with the evidence of speaking in another tongue as the Spirit gives the utterance. (Acts 2:4)

1 Corinthians 1:10-12
10 Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.
11 For it hath been declared unto me of you, my brethren, by them which are of the house of Chloe, that there are contentions among you.
12 Now this I say, that every one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ.

The topic identified here is contentions of which are causing division. The Apostle Paul states, “that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment”. The Apostle Paul continues and says, “Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Paul?” (1 Cor 1:13)

You can see from this line of reasoning that the name of Jesus was what was inferred when asking the question of is Christ divided? And asking was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul? Obviously Paul was not asking if Christ was divided or if Paul was crucified for you if the name he was trying to reveal here was the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Even if Father, Son, and Holy Ghost was really the singular name of God revealed to us in the New Testament as claimed by the Trinitarian doctrine from Matthew 28:19 this would not fit the Apostle Paul’s line of questions. Is Christ divided would not render from the people the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost because the Father and the Holy Ghost are not the Christ. The Christ is the anointed one of God and this is the man Christ Jesus. The next question he asked was Paul crucified for you? Again, even if the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost was really the singular name as claimed by the Trinitarian from Matthew 28:19 this would not fit the Apostle Paul’s question here either because this would not render from the people the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost because the Father and the Holy Ghost are not who was crucified for you, but rather it was the Christ of whom we know is the name of Jesus that was crucified for you and Christ is not divided (referring to the Spiritual body of which there are many members) which is why the Apostle Paul then asks them or were ye baptized in the name of Paul? The questions were designed only to show that Christ is not divided and it was he who was crucified for you and this is the name of which you were baptized in. So he then continues on in the next couple of verses saying:

1 Corinthians 1:14-16
14 I thank God that I baptized none of you, but Crispus and Gaius;
15 Lest any should say that I had baptized in mine own name.
16 And I baptized also the household of Stephanas: besides, I know not whether I baptized any other.

So does it matter to God in what name your were baptized in or are both methods of baptism accepted by God? According to all the examples given to us it does. If you receive the wrong baptism then your inherited sins from birth will not be remitted.

Romans 6:3-7
3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
7 For he that is dead is freed from sin.

Sounds very much like the name that you receive in the baptism matters as we learn here that when we are baptized into Jesus Christ we are baptized into his death. And the Apostle Paul goes on to tell us “For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection”. It was the Christ who died for our sins and his name is Jesus. It only makes sense then that when we are being baptized that we are baptized into the only saving name given among men whereby we must be saved. (Acts 4:12)

So is the baptism really that important anyway? “Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin.” Again, “Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?” How are you taking on the name of Jesus Christ at baptism, being crucified with him, so that the body of sin might be destroyed, if you are being baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost? Again the Father and the Holy Ghost were not crucified for you, seeing how God is a Spirit, it was Jesus Christ who died for you and thus the reason you invoke his name in the baptism. (Acts 22:16)

What does the Apostle Paul mean when he says, “that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed”? Answer:

Colossians 2:9-14
9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:
11 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:
12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.
13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;
14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

We learn here that it is in the baptism that we are putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ being buried with him in baptism. No mentioning of being buried with the Father and the Holy Ghost here, just Jesus Christ of whom was crucified for you.

5 By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name:
6 Among whom are ye also the called of Jesus Christ:

Romans 16:25-27
25 Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began,
26 But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith:
27 To God only wise, be glory through Jesus Christ for ever. Amen.

But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and THINGS THAT ACCOMPANY SALVATION, though we thus speak. For God is not unrighteous to forget your WORK and LABOUR of LOVE, which ye have showed toward his name, in that ye have MINISTERED to the saints, and do MINISTER. And we desire that every one of you do show THE SAME DILIGENCE to the full assurance of hope unto the end: That ye BE NOT SLOTHFUL, but FOLLOWERS of them who through faith and patience INHERIT the promises. (Heb 6:9-12)

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus UNTO GOOD WORKS, which God hath BEFORE ORDAINED that we should WALK IN THEM. (Eph 2:10)

Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded. In all things showing thyself a pattern of GOOD WORKS: in doctrine showing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity, Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ASHAMED, having NO EVIL THING to say of you. (Titus 2:6-8)

Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, ZEALOUS OF GOOD WORKS. (Titus 2:13-14)

This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be CAREFUL TO MAINTAIN GOOD WORKS. These things are GOOD and PROFITABLE unto men. (Titus 3:8)

And let us consider one another to PROVOKE UNTO LOVE and TO GOOD WORKS: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of SOME IS; but exhorting one another: and SO MUCH THE MORE, as ye see the day approaching. (Heb 10:24-25)

Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your GOOD WORKS, which they SHALL BEHOLD, glorify God in the day of visitation. (1 Pet 2:12)

And let ours also LEARN TO MAINTAIN GOOD WORKS for necessary uses, that they BE NOT UNFRUITFUL. (Titus 3:14)

Not Saved by Works but before Ordained unto Good Works!!

EVERY MAN’S WORK shall be made MANIFEST: for the day shall DECLARE IT, because it shall be REVEALED BY FIRE; and THE FIRE SHALL TRY every man’s WORK of what sort it is. If any man’s WORK ABIDE which he hath BUILT thereupon, he shall RECEIVE A REWARD. If any man’s WORK shall be BURNED, he shall SUFFER LOSS: but he himself SHALL BE SAVED; yet so as BY FIRE. (1 Cor 3:13-15)

Romans 13:11-14
11 And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.
12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.
13 Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.
14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

Do you know the time? No matter your answer it is high time to awake out of sleep!

Matthew 25:1-13
1 Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
2 And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
3 They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:
4 But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
5 While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.

All ten virgins slumbered and slept! This does not mean that all ten virgins were not watching for the bridegroom! Five of the ten virgins were wise! They were prepared to meet the bridegroom having took oil in their vessels with their lamps! We are commanded “Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.” (Mt 24:42) Therefore these five wise virgins were watching, praying, prepared, and ready to meet the bridegroom their Lord.

6 And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.
7 Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
8 And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.
9 But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.
10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.

The five wise virgins though sleeping the natural sleep that all mankind is partaker of was still watching, praying, prepared, and ready to meet the bridegroom their Lord! And they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut!

11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

The Lord Jesus knows that all of us must sleep the natural sleep of man. Jesus himself as man also slept.

Matthew 8:23-27
23 And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him.
24 And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep.
25 And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish.
26 And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.
27 But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!

The sleep Jesus is speaking of concerning his coming to catch away his bride is that of spiritual sleep. Otherwise anytime a person fell asleep according to that which all mankind are partakers of, that being natural sleep, would be in danger of hellfire because only those that are saved and awake can meet the bridegroom of which we know is not the case since we read concerning the ten virgins that “While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.” Yet, the five wise virgins “that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.”

Mark 13:28-37
28 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When her branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is near:
29 So ye in like manner, when ye shall see these things come to pass, know that it is nigh, even at the doors.

“And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.” (Rm 13:11-14)

34 For the Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch.
35 Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning:
36 Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping.
37 And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.

Again, the ten virgins “all slumbered and slept” the natural sleep of mankind but five of the ten virgins were spiritually awake!! Having “took oil in their vessels with their lamps” they were watching and prepared for the coming of the bridegroom their Lord!! They were prepared for whether “at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning” for the coming of the bridegroom their Lord!! And they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut!!

Cut the Weights and Produce some Fruit!! For the Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work!! Those that are spiritually awake are producing fruit even as Jesus gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work!! Those that are naturally asleep do not have oil in their lamps nor are they busy about the work that the master of the house left for them to do!!

Luke 21:29-36
29 And he spake to them a parable; Behold the fig tree, and all the trees;
30 When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand.
31 So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand.
32 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled.
33 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.
34 And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.
35 For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.
36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

Heed the warning!! “lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.” However, for those that are watching and praying, represented by the five wise virgins awaiting their bridegroom, that day will not take you unaware because we are the children of the light and have been watching, praying, and we are prepared and ready to meet the bridegroom our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ!!

1 Thessalonians 5:1-9
1 But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.
2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
7 For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.
8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.
9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,

The five wise virgins are the children of light, and the children of the day!! We are not spiritually asleep as the rest of the whole Earth. For we know the times and the seasons and are producing fruit as the master of the house has gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work!! For we know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night!! But we are not in darkness, that that day should overtake us as a thief!!

We are busy producing fruit, watching, praying, and we are prepared and ready to meet the bridegroom our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ!! To the rest of the Earth it’s high time to awake out of sleep!! Cut the Weights and Produce some Fruit!!

Matthew 24:42-51
42 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.
43 But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.
44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.
45 Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?
46 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.
47 Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.

The five wise virgins are busy producing fruit!! For the Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work!! Those that are spiritually awake are producing fruit even as Jesus gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work!! We have watched and our house will not be broken up as the rest of the whole Earth!! Cut the Weights and Produce some Fruit!!

48 But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming;
49 And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken;
50 The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of,
51 And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Hebrews 12:1-3
1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

12 Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is from Jerusalem a sabbath day’s journey.
13 And when they were come in, they went up into an upper room, where abode both Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew, Philip, and Thomas, Bartholomew, and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon Zelotes, and Judas the brother of James.
14 These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.

In this lesson we are going to be speaking on the precious gift of the Holy Ghost, the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Christ, the Comforter. This first lesson of this five part series on the Holy Ghost is going to be showing the Old Testament prophecies concerning the Holy Ghost and how these prophecies were fulfilled in the New Testament Covenant.

In the transition of the Old Testament Covenant to the New Testament Covenant Jesus speaks of the Comforter, which is the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of truth that will dwell within us…….

John 14:16-18
16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

We are told by the Apostle Paul that if we do not have this Spirit of Christ, the Spirit of God, which is the Holy Spirit, that we are none of His.

Romans 8:9
9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

So you can see that it is of the utmost importance that you have the Holy Ghost dwelling inside of you!!

Let us move into the Old Testament prophecies concerning the coming of the Holy Ghost.

Isaiah 28:9-12
9 Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts.
10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:
11 For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people.
12 To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.

Here in verses 11-12 the Prophet Isaiah has prophesied of the coming of the Holy Ghost.

Now listen to the Prophet Jeremiah as he prophesies of the New Covenant that will be established. This Covenant is referring to the New Testament Covenant that we are living under today.

Jeremiah 31:31-34
31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:
32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD:
33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.

The Prophet Joel also prophesies of the coming of the Holy Ghost……..

Joel 2:28-29
28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:
29 And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit.

Now that we understand from the Old Testament that the prophets of old prophesied of the gift of the Holy Ghost that was to come, we will continue our study into the time of Jesus who was still living under the Old Testament, and then to the New Testament fulfillment where these prophecies find their fulfilment when the day of Pentecost had fully come.

Here John the Baptist prophecies of the Holy Ghost that was soon to come…..

Luke 3:16
16 John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire:

A quick reminder: To partake of the New Testament Covenant, Jesus tells us in (Lk 13:3, 5) I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. And in (Mk 16:16) He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And in (Jn 3:5) Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

So in quick summary, you must repent of your sins, be baptized, and then receive the Holy Ghost to fulfill the New Testament Covenant of salvation.

Jesus speaking to a woman of Samaria concerning the Holy Ghost that was soon to come…..

John 4:10-14
10 Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.
11 The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?
12 Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?
13 Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:
14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

Jesus speaking again of the Holy Ghost that was soon to come……

John 7:37-39
37 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.
38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

Here Jesus explains to His disciples of the Holy Ghost, or the Comforter, even the Spirit of Truth, that was soon to come…..

John 14:26; 15:26; 16:7
14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
15:26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:
16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

Here Jesus explains to his disciples the message they should preach after the Holy Ghost comes upon them…..

Luke 24:46-49
46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:
47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
48 And ye are witnesses of these things.
49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.

Just prior to Jesus ascending into Heaven, He explains that after the receiving of the Holy Ghost, that they (and us) will receive power to become His witnesses to the uttermost part of the earth………….

Acts 1:3-8
3 To whom also he showed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:
4 And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.
5 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.
6 When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?
7 And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.
8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Just 10 days later the disciples of Christ were all gathered together…….

Do you see the prophecies of the Old Testament being fulfilled? Let’s look and see…..

The Prophet Jeremiah is speaking of the New Covenant that was to be established. This Covenant is referring to the New Testament Covenant that we are living under today. That Covenant…

Hebrews 8:6-13
6 But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.
7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.
8 For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:
9 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.
10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:
11 And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.
12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.
13 In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.

The prophecy of Jeremiah of the New Covenant fulfilled!!

After the Holy Ghost was poured out and the Apostle Peter explained to all the people present that this was the fulfilling of what the Prophet Joel had prophesied, he went on to tell all the people that was present how they could now partake of the New Testament Covenant that was just fulfilled.

Acts 2:36-39
36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.
37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

Now that we understand the New Testament fulfillment of these Old Testament prophecies in full detail, as well as how the New Covenant was established by God, we will bring our study to a close and will further expound on the Gift of the Holy Ghost in our next study entitled, “Forbid not to Speak with Tongues”.

The Cup of Death For the Cup of Life – Part 2

We are told explicitly in verse three that a person must be born again to see the kingdom of God. To be born again, one must have first been born, or they would not be born again, but rather just birthed or just born.

4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born?
5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

In verse five we are told that unless a person is born of water and of the Spirit, they can not enter the kingdom of God. Many people teach that when you are born of your mother, that this is being born of the water that was spoken of by Jesus. This teaching goes against the fact that verse three and verse seven both tell us we must be born again. It is impossible to be born again, if you were never born the first time. And when you are born the first time, that would not be being born again, but that would again be as stated above, just birthed or just born.

The very word again means, “to do once more; another time; anew; in addition.” So the very word again lets us know, that it has to be in addition to the first time that it has taken place.

Verse six also goes completely against the teaching that when you are born of your mother, that this is being born of the water that was spoken of by Jesus. We are told in verse six that which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. So to be born of your mother would be of the flesh. But we were just told that which is born of the flesh is of the flesh. We want to be born again of the Spirit and as Jesus told us, this will also involve water. Listen carefully again to what Jesus tells Nicodemus, “Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.”

If you have not partaken of being born again of water and of the Spirit, you will not be able to enter into the kingdom of God. This is not something you just want to shrug off or worry about at another time. Death can happen at any time. And when it does, the opportunity for forgiveness is gone.

Now that we understand that the Cup of Life, the kingdom of God involves being born again of water and of the Spirit, let’s find out where the kingdom of God is.

Luke 17:20-21
20 And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation:
21 Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.

Now that we know where the kingdom of God is, let’s continue in the book of Acts chapter one, where the author Luke is writing a second time to a man named Theophilus of the teachings of Jesus Christ.

Acts 1:1-14
1 The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach,
2 Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen:
3 To whom also he showed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:
4 And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.
5 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.
6 When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?

10 And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;
11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.
12 Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is from Jerusalem a sabbath day’s journey.
13 And when they were come in, they went up into an upper room, where abode both Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew, Philip, and Thomas, Bartholomew, and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon Zelotes, and Judas the brother of James.
14 These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.

The teaching continues on what took place in the upper room, and the fulfillment of the instructions of how to be born again of water and of the Spirit, in chapter two of the book of Acts.

Acts 2:1-39
1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
5 And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.
6 Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language.
7 And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans?
8 And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?
9 Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia,
10 Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes,
11 Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God.
12 And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this?
13 Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine.
14 But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words:
15 For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day.
16 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;
17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:
18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:

At this point we are told that this outpouring of the Holy Ghost was a fulfillment of the prophet Joel. Remember, Jesus Christ has risen from the dead, and is establishing a New Covenant or a New Testament.

For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest. For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.

O the Cup of Life, wherein righteousness is found, from the Cup of Blood that was poured out on the ground! The Cup of blood that will never run dry! The Cup of Love wherein grace doth abound! The Cup of Death wherein my King shall be crowned! The Cup of the Spirit, wherein are redemption is nigh!

Continuing from Acts chapter 2 verse19……..

19 And I will show wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:
20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come:
21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

These three verses that we have just read, have not yet taken place. This is a prophecy concerning the Sixth Seal and the time just prior to the Battle of Armageddon.

Revelation 6:12-17
12 And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;
13 And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.
14 And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.
15 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;
16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:
17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?

Also it is important to understand that Verse 21 of Acts which read, “And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved” is speaking of the Nation of Israel. During the Battle of Armageddon, Jerusalem will be invaded. This is when God will fulfill his Covenant with them, as we were told in Romans chapter 11 There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer.

Zechariah 14:2-4
2 For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city.
3 Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle.
4 And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.

In the breaking of the Sixth Seal recall there was a Great Earthquake and every mountain and island were moved out of their places. When Jesus’ feet stand upon the mount of Olives, this will be the Great Earthquake. We are told that the mountain shall cleave in the midst thereof and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.

When the people of Israel that remain run to their Messiah, we are told in……

Zechariah 13:6
6 And one shall say unto him, What are these wounds in thine hands? Then he shall answer, Those with which I was wounded in the house of my friends.

And then…..

Zechariah 12:10
10 And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.

Continuing from Acts chapter 2 verse22……..

22 Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know:
23 Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:
24 Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it.
25 For David speaketh concerning him, I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved:
26 Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope:
27 Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
28 Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance.
29 Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day.
30 Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;
31 He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.
32 This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.
33 Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.
34 For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself, The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand,
35 Until I make thy foes thy footstool.
36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.

Now that Apostle Peter has explained unto the men that were gathered together from every nation at Jerusalem what was taking place that they were both seeing and hearing; that being the Holy Ghost that was poured out as the Prophet Joel had prophesied of and that God had made Jesus, whom they had crucified both Lord and Christ, he will now continue and tell everyone what they must do, to partake of the Cup of Life from the Cup of Death.

37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

Apostle Peter has just given us the instructions for eternal life. Notice in verse 39 he tells us the promise is unto all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. I would say, he made certain that he expressed that this promise was for everyone not only that was present there at the time, but to every generation that was to come.

So to partake of the Cup of Life, Jesus told Nicodemus we must be born again of water and of the Spirit. And now Apostle Peter has told us to, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, (being born of water) and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. (being born of the Spirit.) This is the promise we have from God of eternal life.

If you have not followed the instructions for what Apostle Peter has told us to do, to partake of eternal life, then this should become your number one priority. Don’t be one of those people who never follow instructions correctly.

Now that you can understand the fulfillment of Jesus’ words concerning being born again of water and of the Spirit, we will focus are attention on the importance of obedience.

Romans 16:25-27 [Apostle Paul speaking]
25 Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began,
26 But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith:
27 To God only wise, be glory through Jesus Christ for ever. Amen.

Here Apostle Paul has revealed something of great importance to us. He starts out by speaking of God who has the power to establish us. But notice how we are established. Apostle Paul words it as, “according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ.” This would be the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He then tells us the mystery has been kept secret since the world began but now is made manifest by the scriptures. The ending of verse 26 is what Apostle Paul reveals to us that is of great importance. This was made known to all nations for the obedience of faith.

Obedience is and has always been what the Lord requires from us. Whether it was Adam and Eve when told not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, or when Noah was told to build an arc and preach that it was going to rain and kill everyone not in the arc, or when Abram was told to sacrifice his only son, the son of promise, or when Moses gave the Law unto the people of Israel, or when the children of Israel were told to take and possess the Promise Land but instead were of the spirit of doubt. Just as they were required to be obedient, we too are required to be obedient. We are to be obedient to our faith in Christ.

Let’s first clarify the Gospel of Christ as Apostle Paul tells us what it is in……..

1 Corinthians 15:1-8
1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
5 And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve:
6 After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep.
7 After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles.
8 And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time.

Now we know what the Gospel of Christ is. That Jesus Christ died, was buried, and on the third day, he rose again. So we must be obedient to our faith in the Gospel of Christ, which would be that we are born again, by partaking of the Lord’s death (repentance), burial (water baptism in Jesus name), and resurrection (being filled with the Holy Ghost).

To exercise one’s faith in something, one must produce some type of action. To better understand this concept of obedience of faith, let’s read what Apostle James tells us……..

James 2:20-26
20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?
22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?
23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.
24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.
25 Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way?
26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

So we find that faith is an action word. If there is no action attached to your faith, then your faith is dead. We also are told that we must be obedient to faith. So not only must you put forth an action, it must obey your faith. For example.

If I say that I have faith that a smoke detector will save me if my home were to catch fire, and I purchase a smoke detector that instructs me that I must install a battery, and I did not. If my home were to catch fire, would the smoke detector save me? Was I obedient to my faith in the smoke detector?

So if I say that I have faith that Jesus Christ will save me, and I was instructed that I must be born of water and of the Spirit the way that Apostle Peter has told us to do, and I have not. When Jesus Christ returns to catch away his Saints will He save me? Was I obedient to my faith in Jesus Christ?

James 1:22-25
22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.
25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

Romans 6:16-17
16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.

What doctrine that was delivered unto you? The doctrine of the Gospel of Christ. Which was the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ that fulfills being born again of water and of the Spirit, which leads us unto a life of separation, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

So not only must we be obedient unto our Faith in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, we now will learn that this obedience unto faith will lead us to a life of separation, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

2 Corinthians 6:14-18; 7:1
14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?
16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,
18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
7:1 Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

So once we become a New Creature in Christ Jesus, we then move into a life of separation, perfecting holiness in the FEAR of God.

1 John 2:15-17
15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

In Closing of the Cup of Death for the Cup of Life,

Hebrews 12:1-14
1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
3 For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.
4 Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.
5 And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him:
6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.
7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?
8 But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.
9 Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?
10 For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness.
11 Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.
12 Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees;
13 And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed.
14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:

The Cup of Life, being born again! The body of sin put to Death!! A New Creature the Lord has made! For obedience in His name!! The Cup of Wisdom poured out from above! Foreordained from the only Just One. Predestinated according to His Will! Purge yourself for you are part of Him! Until Time be taken out of the way! So that all things can be fulfilled! Behold, the Ancient of Days!!! World without end!!!

The Cup of Death For the Cup of Life – Part 1

Let’s begin with the prophesied birth of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.

Isaiah 9:6-7
6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

We will continue our reading with the prophecy of the “Cup of Death” that Jesus must partake of so that we may partake of the “Cup of Life”.

Isaiah 53:1-12
1 Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed?
2 For he {Jesus} shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.
3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.
8 He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken.
9 And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.
10 Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.
11 He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.
12 Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

We were bought, bought with a price! The price?, was the “Cup of Death”! Bought with the Precious Blood of Jesus Christ. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Luke 22:14-20
14 And when the hour was come, he sat down, and the twelve apostles with him.
15 And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer:
16 For I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God.
17 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves:
18 For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come.
19 And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.
20 Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.

O the Precious “Cup of Death!” The Cup of the New Testament Paid in Full by the Blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the Worthy Lamb of God.

Hear the Price!! Hear the Price!!, of the Cup of Death.

Matthew 26:38-44
38 Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.
39 And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.
40 And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?
41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
42 He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done.
43 And he came and found them asleep again: for their eyes were heavy.
44 And he left them, and went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words.

We learn in ……

Luke 22:43-45
43 And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him.
44 And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.
45 And when he rose up from prayer, and was come to his disciples, he found them sleeping for sorrow,

Hear the Price?? Hear the Price??, of the Cup of Death!! The Cup of Death for the Cup of Life!! Everlasting Life!! If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

Let’s continue and read about “The Collection of the Payment.”

Matthew 26:63-68
63 But Jesus held his peace. And the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the Son of God.
64 Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.
65 Then the high priest rent his clothes, saying, He hath spoken blasphemy; what further need have we of witnesses? behold, now ye have heard his blasphemy.
66 What think ye? They answered and said, He is guilty of death.
67 Then did they spit in his face, and buffeted him; and others smote him with the palms of their hands,
68 Saying, Prophesy unto us, thou Christ, Who is he that smote thee?

This was only the beginning of the Suffering that Christ would come to know, so that you and I could partake of the “Cup of Life.” And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

Due to Jewish Law, Caiaphas the high priest did not have the authority to sentence Jesus Christ to death. So they delivered Jesus to Pontius Pilate the governor of Judea, in hopes that Pilate would crucify Him for claiming to be a King, when there was only one King of Rome, that being Caesar.

Matthew 27:22-31
22 Pilate saith unto them, What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ? They all say unto him, Let him be crucified.
23 And the governor said, Why, what evil hath he done? But they cried out the more, saying, Let him be crucified.
24 When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it.
25 Then answered all the people, and said, His blood be on us, and on our children.
26 Then released he Barabbas unto them: and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified.
27 Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the common hall, and gathered unto him the whole band of soldiers.
28 And they stripped him, and put on him a scarlet robe.
29 And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand: and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews!
30 And they spit upon him, and took the reed, and smote him on the head.
31 And after that they had mocked him, they took the robe off from him, and put his own raiment on him, and led him away to crucify him.

Listen to the Prophet Isaiah as he speaks of Jesus……

Isaiah 50:6
6 I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid not my face from shame and spitting.

Hear the Price!! Hear the Price!!, of the “Cup of Death for the Cup of Life”??

The Time has come!! The Hour is at Hand!! The Lord Jesus Christ was nailed to a Tree! Their to Drink the Cup of Sin!! Why, Why, you may ask, would He die on a Tree for Me?? Why, Why, would my savior die on that Cross for me?? He Drank the Cup of Death, the Cup of Death He Drank it for me, for in the Cup of Death, the curse of the Law we were redeemed.

Psalms 109:25
25 I became also a reproach unto them: when they looked upon me they shaked their heads.

Deliver Me my Darling!!

Psalms 22:1-31
1 My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring?
2 O my God, I cry in the daytime, but thou hearest not; and in the night season, and am not silent.
3 But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.
4 Our fathers trusted in thee: they trusted, and thou didst deliver them.
5 They cried unto thee, and were delivered: they trusted in thee, and were not confounded.
6 But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people.
7 All they that see me laugh me to scorn: they shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying,
8 He trusted on the LORD that he would deliver him: let him deliver him, seeing he delighted in him.
9 But thou art he that took me out of the womb: thou didst make me hope when I was upon my mother’s breasts.
10 I was cast upon thee from the womb: thou art my God from my mother’s belly.
11 Be not far from me; for trouble is near; for there is none to help.
12 Many bulls have compassed me: strong bulls of Bashan have beset me round.
13 They gaped upon me with their mouths, as a ravening and a roaring lion.
14 I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint: my heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels.
15 My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue cleaveth to my jaws; and thou hast brought me into the dust of death.
16 For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have enclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet.
17 I may tell all my bones: they look and stare upon me.
18 They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture.
19 But be not thou far from me, O LORD: O my strength, haste thee to help me.
20 Deliver my soul from the sword; my darling from the power of the dog.
21 Save me from the lion’s mouth: for thou hast heard me from the horns of the unicorns.
22 I will declare thy name unto my brethren: in the midst of the congregation will I praise thee.
23 Ye that fear the LORD, praise him; all ye the seed of Jacob, glorify him; and fear him, all ye the seed of Israel.
24 For he hath not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; neither hath he hid his face from him; but when he cried unto him, he heard.
25 My praise shall be of thee in the great congregation: I will pay my vows before them that fear him.
26 The meek shall eat and be satisfied: they shall praise the LORD that seek him: your heart shall live for ever.
27 All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the LORD: and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee.
28 For the kingdom is the LORD’S: and he is the governor among the nations.
29 All they that be fat upon earth shall eat and worship: all they that go down to the dust shall bow before him: and none can keep alive his own soul.
30 A seed shall serve him; it shall be accounted to the Lord for a generation.
31 They shall come, and shall declare his righteousness unto a people that shall be born, that he hath done this.

Matthew 27:46-54
46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
47 Some of them that stood there, when they heard that, said, This man calleth for Elias.
48 And straightway one of them ran, and took a sponge, and filled it with vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink.
49 The rest said, Let be, let us see whether Elias will come to save him.
50 Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.
51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;
52 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,
53 And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.
54 Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God.

The Price?? Now “Paid in Full”. And the Judgment of the Jewish people for what they have done?? Then answered all the people, and said, His blood be on us, and on our children.

Psalms 69:19-28
19 Thou hast known my reproach, and my shame, and my dishonour: mine adversaries are all before thee.
20 Reproach hath broken my heart; and I am full of heaviness: and I looked for some to take pity, but there was none; and for comforters, but I found none.
21 They gave me also gall for my meat; and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.
22 Let their table become a snare before them: and that which should have been for their welfare, let it become a trap.
23 Let their eyes be darkened, that they see not; and make their loins continually to shake.
24 Pour out thine indignation upon them, and let thy wrathful anger take hold of them.
25 Let their habitation be desolate; and let none dwell in their tents.
26 For they persecute him whom thou hast smitten; and they talk to the grief of those whom thou hast wounded.
27 Add iniquity unto their iniquity: and let them not come into thy righteousness.
28 Let them be blotted out of the book of the living, and not be written with the righteous.

Now we can understand why the Jewish people as a whole are blinded to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. For as concerning the gospel, they are enemies for the sake of the Gentiles: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the fathers’ sakes.

However, there are some Jewish people whose hearts and eyes have been opened to the Glorious Gospel of Jesus Christ. In the Book of Romans chapter 11 we are told that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in. And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob: For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins. This will take place at the Battle of Armageddon.

Now we will turn our focus to Jesus Christ being in the bowels of the Earth for three days preaching unto the spirits in prison; Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water. The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us.

Matthew 12:40
40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

I Peter 3:18-19
18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:
19 By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;

Psalms 16:5-11
5 The LORD is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot.
6 The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage.
7 I will bless the LORD, who hath given me counsel: my reins also instruct me in the night seasons.
8 I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.
9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope.
10 For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
11 Thou wilt show me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

The Risen Christ, who has drank of the Cup of Death!! There be none like Him!! For He drank the Cup of Sin, the Cup of Death, for the Cup of Life He poured out His love for you and for me.

Luke 24:33-49
33 And they rose up the same hour, and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven gathered together, and them that were with them,
34 Saying, The Lord is risen indeed, and hath appeared to Simon.
35 And they told what things were done in the way, and how he was known of them in breaking of bread.
36 And as they thus spake, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.
37 But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit.
38 And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts?
39 Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.
40 And when he had thus spoken, he showed them his hands and his feet.
41 And while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, he said unto them, Have ye here any meat?
42 And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and of an honeycomb.
43 And he took it, and did eat before them.
44 And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.
45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,
46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:
47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
48 And ye are witnesses of these things.
49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.

O Give me of this Cup of Life to Drink!! Pour out your Spirit upon me! This Cup of Life that sets me free from the bondage of Death that satan had over me. The Cup of Life where grace is free, to all of them that have an ear and obey. For I am athirst and the Water of Life is free, to every man whosoever he be, that calls upon the name of the Lord and will serve Him not only in word but in deed.
