If thou, LORD, shouldest MARK iniquities, O Lord, WHO shall stand? But there is FORGIVENESS with thee, that THOU mayest be FEARED. I wait for the LORD, my SOUL doth WAIT, and in his WORD do I HOPE. (Psa 130:3-5)

Do you wait for the Lord? Is your hope in his Word? “Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works, Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.” (Rm 4:6-8) “Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.” (Acts 2:38-39) “For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more. In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.” (Heb 8:12-13)

Come let us Grow Together: Worshippers of Self

Come let us Grow Together is a weekly series that deals with the many topical categories that exist within the Word of God. The purpose of this series is to grow in wisdom, knowledge, and understanding in things pertaining to God.

Worshipers of self are those that are worshipers of human reasoning. Those who worship their own opinions over what the Word of God teaches us. Generally using phrases that start with, “I don’t believe” or “I don’ feel” versus being obedient to the Word of God.

These people are lovers of self more than lovers of God. They depend upon human ability. Resting on their own fruitfulness of their own labors. They shove God out of the way and let their human reasoning or their own opinions take over. Thus they eliminate the need to trust in God because they “believe” or “feel” they can trust in their own self. They put their trust into their own hands, their own opinions, and their own abilities.

These worshipers of self will try to justify their actions by human reasoning. I still have money in my pocket. I still have a car to drive. I still feel God in my life. And thus they have made an idol out of their own opinions and have become worshipers of self. Then they will set themselves in the congregation of God and expect him to share with them His devotion while they cling to the idol of self.

The idol of who cares what God thinks about the affairs of my life. I’ll just use my own human reasoning to decide where I can survive spiritually and how I can survive spiritually. I’m talking about that human mentality, that human ability that says why should I pray and seek God? I’m making a good living and I trust in the works of my hands more than I trust in the hands of God. I’m talking about that attitude that says I must be alright with God or I wouldn’t have all of these good things in my life. I’m alright even though I am living in fornication. I’m alright even though I’m still living in sin. I think I’m alright because I still have a good job in spite of my sinful habit. I still have my family in spite of the sin that I let into the doors of my home. I still have fun and I’m not convicted about my carnality. I’m talking about WORSHIPERS OF SELF! I’m talking about the worship of human reasoning! I’m talking about the worship of your own opinion! I’m talking about the mentality that says I still feel God when I come to Church despite my compromised life!

I’m here to tell you that you are lovers of self more than lovers of God! You are lovers of what others have more than lovers of God!! You are lovers of what you believe more than lovers of God!! You are lovers of vanity more than lovers of God!! You are lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God!!

I’m telling you that you are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved for ever!! I’m telling you that you are without fear of God!! Carried about of winds. What the latest fashion is. What the latest fad is. What the latest tradition of men is. Never concerning yourself with What thus saith the Word of God. Trees whose fruit withers away, sitting in the congregation of God! Claiming to be followers of God, and yet your dwelling place is in the congregation of the dead whose nigh end is burning!!

I say to you repent of this your wickedness!! I say to you repent of your idolatrous practices of worshiping your own self! Worshiping your own ideals! Worshiping what you discern to be truth versus what the Word of God teaches us! Except you repent you will die in your sins!!

What are you bowing your knee to? For they that are of such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own fleshly desires!! They are serving their own fleshly wants!! They are serving their own fleshly cravings!! And they are serving their own carnal devices!!

Serving whatever my flesh wants and serving whatever my flesh desires while finding ways in the worship of self to justify it!! It’s time to place this idol of self on the altar of sacrifice!! It’s time for a spiritual cleansing and a spiritual awakening to the acknowledging of the truth!! It’s a time of refreshing and renewing in the Holy Ghost!! For our God will abundantly pardon!! Only you must put away the idol of self!! It’s time to cast self into the Fire of the Holy Ghost!! Purge yourself therefore of CARNALITY and LUST FILLED THOUGHTS and PRACTICES and LIVE!! It’s time to DIE OUT TO THE WORSHIP OF SELF!

Laying on the altar of sacrifice!! Let me die for you Lord!! Paul said, I die daily!! WE MUST MORTIFY THE DEEDS of the FLESH and NOT fulfill the LUSTS thereof!!

But I think this is ok… But I think that is alright… That’s not the way I see it… That’s not the way I interpret it… Lovers of Self you are!! Worshipers of Self you be!! It’s time to lay yourself on the altar of repentance why it is still called today!! For you are not promised your next breath!! It is appointed unto man once to die then comes the judgment!!

Even as Wheat needs the Spirit to grow: the Tares need the flesh to grow!! Even as the Wheat produces fruit unto righteousness: the Tares produce fruit unto unrighteousness!! Nevertheless let both grow up together until the time of harvest!! Unless while you gather up the Tares you root up the Wheat with them!!

Where is the place of the Tare? Their eyes are in the ends of the earth but they feast in the congregation of the dead with you!! Their words and their actions are in the realm of hypocrisy, lies, and deceit. Their ways are poison producing death within themselves while they sup with you and try to seduce you into their poisonous ways!! Their place is the place of Hell and of death!! All who eat of their meat will likewise partake of the bottomless pit where their soul dies not reserved for the Lake of Fire burning with brimstone!!

Where is the place of the Wheat? Their eyes are steadfast looking for a city whose builder and maker is God!! Their words and their actions are in the realm of peace, love, and joy. Their ways are holiness producing life within themselves while they sup with you and try to provoke you unto good works!! Their place is the place of Heaven and the Millennial Reign of Christ!! All who eat of their meat will likewise partake of the tree of life where their soul lives on reserved for the New Earth where the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations!!

Even Tares need Water to Grow, but their Poison Produces Death!! Even Wheat needs Water to Grow, but their Antidote produces Life!! Even Tares need soil to grow but venom is in their hearts and upon their lips. Even Wheat need soil to grow but praise is in their hearts and upon their lips. Even Tares need sun to grow and there is no light within them!! Even Wheat need Son to grow and there is pure Light within them!!

Even Tares need Water to Grow, but their Poison Produces Death!! They love a proud look and their tongues speak guile, deceit, and lies. They love to gossip and are talebearers. Their hands love to shed innocent blood, while their heart devises wicked imaginations, and their feet are swift in running to mischief!! A false witness that speaks lies and they love to sow discord among brethren.

Even so let the Tares grow up among the Wheat for their end is nigh unto burning!! Offences will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come!! Even so let the Tares grow up among the Wheat!! Unless while you root up the Tares the Wheat come up with them and they all be lost!! A brother offended is harder to be won than a strong city: and their contentions are like the bars of a castle!!

Tares are bitter and their poison produces death!! Their ears are dull of hearing and their hearts are waxed gross whose end is nigh unto burning!! They carry millstones in their pockets looking for the precious grain!! They are on the prowl to find others like them though hand join in hand, the wicked shall not be unpunished: but the seed of the righteous shall be delivered. Even Tares need Water to Grow, but their Poison Produces Death!! Their father is the devil and the lusts of their father will they do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. They are murderers who hate the truth and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in them!!

Wheat pray for the Tares to be converted. That God would perhaps give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will. Feel compassion and sorrow for them!! If a man be overtaken in a fault, you which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering yourself, for fear that you also be tempted.

Even Tares need Water to Grow likewise Wheat needs Water to Grow. The water is different for the Tares than the Wheat. The water of the Tares is that of the flesh and the Water of the Wheat is that of the Spirit. The desire of the Tares is the world and the desires of the Wheat is Jesus. The Tares desire the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life!! The Wheat desires to abstain from the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life!!

Tares thrive on hatred, bitterness, jealousies, envyings, and strifes while Wheat thrive on love, faith, hope, righteousness, and peace. Tares find bad in the good while Wheat find good in the bad. Tares follow the folly of their heart while the Wheat follow the wisdom of the Word.

Even so let the Tares grow up among the Wheat for their end is nigh unto burning!! The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear. Even Tares need Water to Grow, but their Poison Produces Death!!

Becoming a Vessel unto Honour

The Apostle Paul is instructing Timothy.

2 Timothy 2:19-26
19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

This is the key to being part of the Body of Christ. You must Depart from iniquity.

20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.

Vessel of Honor

Paul is letting Timothy know that even in a great house there are different types of vessels. He is speaking of people by using the example of vessels. Then he states some are to honor and some to dishonor. Remember first though, he said “Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.” This is very much like the parable of the tares and the wheat that Jesus taught. “Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field: But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares? He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up? But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.” (Mt 13:24-30)

So after letting Timothy know that even in a great house there are different types of vessels and some to honor, which would be the wheat, and some to dishonor, which would be the tares, he then continues and gives us instruction of how to be a vessel unto honor.

21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.
22 Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

The key was that anyone that names the name of Christ is supposed to depart from iniquity. But Paul also lets Timothy know that not everyone will. That is why some are to honor, which are the wheat, and why some are to dishonor, which are the tares. If you want to be a vessel of honor, purge yourself from iniquity and false brethren. Pray for those who are tares but don’t keep company with them. “Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.” (1 Cor 15:33) “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?” (2 Cor 6:14)

The Apostle Paul continues teaching Timothy what he should do as a teacher.

23 But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes.
24 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,
25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

It is crucial to note that many people oppose themselves. And those that do, the devil can take them captive at his will. The reason why, is because they are not vessels unto honor, because they have not purged themselves from iniquity, and thus begin to oppose themselves when instruction is given because they have not a love of the truth.

The Apostle Paul instructed Timothy to “Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.” That is what we as followers of Jesus Christ should be pursuing. The Apostle Peter gives us instructions to follow as well.

2 Peter 1:3-12
3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

Again you see that you must depart from iniquity if you name the name of Jesus Christ. Otherwise you are not going to be a vessel of honor, the wheat, but rather a vessel unto dishonor, the tares. The choice is yours. Obedience or disobedience. To love Jesus Christ and keep his commandments or in this case to stay in the Church and sow discord among the people subverting the hearers as you try to sway them to your way of thinking of whom the wheat should avoid as you are part of the congregation of the dead. “The man that wandereth out of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead.” (Pro 21:16)

5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;

Giving all diligence to make your calling and election sure! Striving to enter in at the strait gate! Pressing into the kingdom of God! Add to your faith in Jesus Christ and the gospel message of hope, and what allowed you to be born again of which was also given by the Apostle Peter, “Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” (Acts 2:38) Add to your faith virtue. Live upright with moral excellence! A “vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.” Adding to this virtue knowledge. The knowledge of the Word of God. “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (2 Tim 2:15) “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.” (2 Tim 3:16-17) “Bow down thine ear, and hear the words of the wise, and apply thine heart unto my knowledge. For it is a pleasant thing if thou keep them within thee; they shall withal be fitted in thy lips. That thy trust may be in the LORD, I have made known to thee this day, even to thee. Have not I written to thee excellent things in counsels and knowledge, That I might make thee know the certainty of the words of truth; that thou mightest answer the words of truth to them that send unto thee?” (Pro 22:17-21) “But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.” (1 Peter 3:15-16)

6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;

Add to your knowledge self control! Keep yourself in the will of God! “For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication: That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour; Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God: That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified. For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness. He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who hath also given unto us his holy Spirit.” (1 Thess 4:3-8) Add to your self control or temperance patience. “Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:” (Heb 12:14) “My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.” (James 1:2-4) Add to your patience godliness! The collective whole of the gospel teaching. “If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself. But godliness with contentment is great gain.” (1 Tim 6:3-6)

7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.

Add to godliness brotherly kindness! “For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.” (Rm 12:4-5) “For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. For the body is not one member, but many. If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling? But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him. And if they were all one member, where were the body? But now are they many members, yet but one body. And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.” (1 Cor 12:12-21) “For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.” (Eph 5:30) Add to brotherly kindness charity! “Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.” (Rm 13:10) “Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;” (Rm 12:9-10) “Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.” (Gal 6:1-2) “And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.” (1 Peter 4:8)

8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Therefore purge yourself from iniquity and follow after the instructions that you have received and you will not “be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

9 But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.
10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:
11 For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
12 Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth.

I hope this blesses everyone to the understanding that if you name the name of Christ, then depart from iniquity by purging yourself from sin, by applying the Word of God. Otherwise you will become a vessel unto dishonor and a tare among the wheat.

Exodus 10:7
7 And Pharaoh’s servants said unto him, How long shall this man be a snare unto us? let the men go, that they may serve the LORD their God: knowest thou not yet that Egypt is destroyed?

7 But against any of the children of Israel shall not a dog move his tongue, against man or beast: that ye may know how that the LORD doth put a difference between the Egyptians and Israel.

Even though God destroyed Egypt, which is representative of sin in scripture, the children of Israel who escaped Egypt by the hand of God with ten wondrous plagues and the drowning of Pharaoh and his army in the Red Sea, they continually wanted to go back to Egypt.

Exodus 14:26-31
26 And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand over the sea, that the waters may come again upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their horsemen.
27 And Moses stretched forth his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to his strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it; and the LORD overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea.
28 And the waters returned, and covered the chariots, and the horsemen, and all the host of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them; there remained not so much as one of them.
29 But the children of Israel walked upon dry land in the midst of the sea; and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.
30 Thus the LORD saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians; and Israel saw the Egyptians dead upon the sea shore.
31 And Israel saw that great work which the LORD did upon the Egyptians: and the people feared the LORD, and believed the LORD, and his servant Moses.

What is left for you in Egypt? Knowest Thou Not Yet That Egypt Is Destroyed? Jesus Christ condemned sin in the flesh!

Romans 8:1-4
1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

2 Corinthians 5:17-21
17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.
21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Don’t be like the children of Israel who continually wanted to return to Egypt!

Exodus 13:3-10
3 And Moses said unto the people, Remember this day, in which ye came out from Egypt, out of the house of bondage; for by strength of hand the LORD brought you out from this place: there shall no leavened bread be eaten.
4 This day came ye out in the month Abib.
5 And it shall be when the LORD shall bring thee into the land of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, which he sware unto thy fathers to give thee, a land flowing with milk and honey, that thou shalt keep this service in this month.
6 Seven days thou shalt eat unleavened bread, and in the seventh day shall be a feast to the LORD.
7 Unleavened bread shall be eaten seven days; and there shall no leavened bread be seen with thee, neither shall there be leaven seen with thee in all thy quarters.
8 And thou shalt shew thy son in that day, saying, This is done because of that which the LORD did unto me when I came forth out of Egypt.
9 And it shall be for a sign unto thee upon thine hand, and for a memorial between thine eyes, that the LORD’S law may be in thy mouth: for with a strong hand hath the LORD brought thee out of Egypt.
10 Thou shalt therefore keep this ordinance in his season from year to year.

The children of Israel were commanded by God to “Remember this day, in which ye came out from Egypt, out of the house of bondage; for by strength of hand the LORD brought you out from this place: there shall no leavened bread be eaten.” Leaven in scripture is also representative of sin even as Egypt also is representative of sin. That is why they were commanded on this feast to eat unleavened bread and to put leaven away from among them.

Knowest Thou Not Yet That Egypt Is Destroyed? Jesus Christ condemned sin in the flesh!

Exodus 14:5-12
5 And it was told the king of Egypt that the people fled: and the heart of Pharaoh and of his servants was turned against the people, and they said, Why have we done this, that we have let Israel go from serving us?
6 And he made ready his chariot, and took his people with him:
7 And he took six hundred chosen chariots, and all the chariots of Egypt, and captains over every one of them.
8 And the LORD hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursued after the children of Israel: and the children of Israel went out with an high hand.
9 But the Egyptians pursued after them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, and his horsemen, and his army, and overtook them encamping by the sea, beside Pihahiroth, before Baalzephon.
10 And when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they were sore afraid: and the children of Israel cried out unto the LORD.
11 And they said unto Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt?
12 Is not this the word that we did tell thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians? For it had been better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness.

Even after seeing the power and strength of the Lord and even after Egypt had been destroyed the children of Israel provoked God saying, “Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians? For it had been better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness.“

Exodus 16:1-8
1 And they took their journey from Elim, and all the congregation of the children of Israel came unto the wilderness of Sin, which is between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month after their departing out of the land of Egypt.
2 And the whole congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness:
3 And the children of Israel said unto them, Would to God we had died by the hand of the LORD in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the flesh pots, and when we did eat bread to the full; for ye have brought us forth into this wilderness, to kill this whole assembly with hunger.
4 Then said the LORD unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or no.
5 And it shall come to pass, that on the sixth day they shall prepare that which they bring in; and it shall be twice as much as they gather daily.
6 And Moses and Aaron said unto all the children of Israel, At even, then ye shall know that the LORD hath brought you out from the land of Egypt:
7 And in the morning, then ye shall see the glory of the LORD; for that he heareth your murmurings against the LORD: and what are we, that ye murmur against us?
8 And Moses said, This shall be, when the LORD shall give you in the evening flesh to eat, and in the morning bread to the full; for that the LORD heareth your murmurings which ye murmur against him: and what are we? your murmurings are not against us, but against the LORD.

Knowest Thou Not Yet That Egypt Is Destroyed? Jesus Christ condemned sin in the flesh!

Galatians 4:4-7
4 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,
5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.
6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.
7 Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.

John 3:16-21
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

Don’t be like the children of Israel who continually wanted to return to Egypt!

Exodus 17:1-4
1 And all the congregation of the children of Israel journeyed from the wilderness of Sin, after their journeys, according to the commandment of the LORD, and pitched in Rephidim: and there was no water for the people to drink.
2 Wherefore the people did chide with Moses, and said, Give us water that we may drink. And Moses said unto them, Why chide ye with me? wherefore do ye tempt the LORD?
3 And the people thirsted there for water; and the people murmured against Moses, and said, Wherefore is this that thou hast brought us up out of Egypt, to kill us and our children and our cattle with thirst?
4 And Moses cried unto the LORD, saying, What shall I do unto this people? they be almost ready to stone me.

Exodus 32:1-9
1 And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron, and said unto him, Up, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.
2 And Aaron said unto them, Break off the golden earrings, which are in the ears of your wives, of your sons, and of your daughters, and bring them unto me.
3 And all the people brake off the golden earrings which were in their ears, and brought them unto Aaron.
4 And he received them at their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool, after he had made it a molten calf: and they said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.
5 And when Aaron saw it, he built an altar before it; and Aaron made proclamation, and said, To morrow is a feast to the LORD.
6 And they rose up early on the morrow, and offered burnt offerings, and brought peace offerings; and the people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play.
7 And the LORD said unto Moses, Go, get thee down; for thy people, which thou broughtest out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves:
8 They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them: they have made them a molten calf, and have worshipped it, and have sacrificed thereunto, and said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which have brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.
9 And the LORD said unto Moses, I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiffnecked people:

Leviticus 23:33-44
33 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
34 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, The fifteenth day of this seventh month shall be the feast of tabernacles for seven days unto the LORD.
35 On the first day shall be an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein.
36 Seven days ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD: on the eighth day shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD: it is a solemn assembly; and ye shall do no servile work therein.
37 These are the feasts of the LORD, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, to offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD, a burnt offering, and a meat offering, a sacrifice, and drink offerings, every thing upon his day:
38 Beside the sabbaths of the LORD, and beside your gifts, and beside all your vows, and beside all your freewill offerings, which ye give unto the LORD.
39 Also in the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when ye have gathered in the fruit of the land, ye shall keep a feast unto the LORD seven days: on the first day shall be a sabbath, and on the eighth day shall be a sabbath.
40 And ye shall take you on the first day the boughs of goodly trees, branches of palm trees, and the boughs of thick trees, and willows of the brook; and ye shall rejoice before the LORD your God seven days.
41 And ye shall keep it a feast unto the LORD seven days in the year. It shall be a statute for ever in your generations: ye shall celebrate it in the seventh month.
42 Ye shall dwell in booths seven days; all that are Israelites born shall dwell in booths:
43 That your generations may know that I made the children of Israel to dwell in booths, when I brought them out of the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.
44 And Moses declared unto the children of Israel the feasts of the LORD.

Luke 2:25-35
25 And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him.
26 And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord’s Christ.
27 And he came by the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law,
28 Then took he him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said,
29 Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word:
30 For mine eyes have seen thy salvation,
31 Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people;
32 A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel.
33 And Joseph and his mother marvelled at those things which were spoken of him.
34 And Simeon blessed them, and said unto Mary his mother, Behold, this child is set for the fall and rising again of many in Israel; and for a sign which shall be spoken against;
35 (Yea, a sword shall pierce through thy own soul also,) that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.

John 19:25-27
25 Now there stood by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene.
26 When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son!
27 Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home.

Don’t be as the children of Israel who had their hearts set continually upon Egypt.

Numbers 14:1-11
1 And all the congregation lifted up their voice, and cried; and the people wept that night.
2 And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron: and the whole congregation said unto them, Would God that we had died in the land of Egypt! or would God we had died in this wilderness!
3 And wherefore hath the LORD brought us unto this land, to fall by the sword, that our wives and our children should be a prey? were it not better for us to return into Egypt?
4 And they said one to another, Let us make a captain, and let us return into Egypt.
5 Then Moses and Aaron fell on their faces before all the assembly of the congregation of the children of Israel.
6 And Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, which were of them that searched the land, rent their clothes:
7 And they spake unto all the company of the children of Israel, saying, The land, which we passed through to search it, is an exceeding good land.
8 If the LORD delight in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it us; a land which floweth with milk and honey.
9 Only rebel not ye against the LORD, neither fear ye the people of the land; for they are bread for us: their defence is departed from them, and the LORD is with us: fear them not.
10 But all the congregation bade stone them with stones. And the glory of the LORD appeared in the tabernacle of the congregation before all the children of Israel.
11 And the LORD said unto Moses, How long will this people provoke me? and how long will it be ere they believe me, for all the signs which I have shewed among them?

Numbers 14:19-35
19 Pardon, I beseech thee, the iniquity of this people according unto the greatness of thy mercy, and as thou hast forgiven this people, from Egypt even until now.
20 And the Lord said, I have pardoned according to thy word:
21 But as truly as I live, all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the Lord.
22 Because all those men which have seen my glory, and my miracles, which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have tempted me now these ten times, and have not hearkened to my voice;
23 Surely they shall not see the land which I sware unto their fathers, neither shall any of them that provoked me see it:
24 But my servant Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and hath followed me fully, him will I bring into the land whereinto he went; and his seed shall possess it.
25 (Now the Amalekites and the Canaanites dwelt in the valley.) To morrow turn you, and get you into the wilderness by the way of the Red sea.
26 And the Lord spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,
27 How long shall I bear with this evil congregation, which murmur against me? I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel, which they murmur against me.
28 Say unto them, As truly as I live, saith the Lord, as ye have spoken in mine ears, so will I do to you:
29 Your carcases shall fall in this wilderness; and all that were numbered of you, according to your whole number, from twenty years old and upward, which have murmured against me,
30 Doubtless ye shall not come into the land, concerning which I sware to make you dwell therein, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.
31 But your little ones, which ye said should be a prey, them will I bring in, and they shall know the land which ye have despised.
32 But as for you, your carcases, they shall fall in this wilderness.
33 And your children shall wander in the wilderness forty years, and bear your whoredoms, until your carcases be wasted in the wilderness.
34 After the number of the days in which ye searched the land, even forty days, each day for a year, shall ye bear your iniquities, even forty years, and ye shall know my breach of promise.
35 I the Lord have said, I will surely do it unto all this evil congregation, that are gathered together against me: in this wilderness they shall be consumed, and there they shall die.

Ephesians 2:10-22
10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
11 Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;
12 That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:
13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.
14 For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;
15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;
16 And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:
17 And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.
18 For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.
19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;
20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;
21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:
22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

Colossians 2:13-14
13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;
14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

Don’t be like Achan who coveted the things of the world and be accursed from God!

Joshua 6:17-18
17 And the city shall be accursed, even it, and all that are therein, to the LORD: only Rahab the harlot shall live, she and all that are with her in the house, because she hid the messengers that we sent.
18 And ye, in any wise keep yourselves from the accursed thing, lest ye make yourselves accursed, when ye take of the accursed thing, and make the camp of Israel a curse, and trouble it.

Joshua 7:1
1 But the children of Israel committed a trespass in the accursed thing: for Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took of the accursed thing: and the anger of the LORD was kindled against the children of Israel.

Joshua 7:19-26
19 And Joshua said unto Achan, My son, give, I pray thee, glory to the LORD God of Israel, and make confession unto him; and tell me now what thou hast done; hide it not from me.
20 And Achan answered Joshua, and said, Indeed I have sinned against the LORD God of Israel, and thus and thus have I done:
21 When I saw among the spoils a goodly Babylonish garment, and two hundred shekels of silver, and a wedge of gold of fifty shekels weight, then I coveted them, and took them; and, behold, they are hid in the earth in the midst of my tent, and the silver under it.
22 So Joshua sent messengers, and they ran unto the tent; and, behold, it was hid in his tent, and the silver under it.
23 And they took them out of the midst of the tent, and brought them unto Joshua, and unto all the children of Israel, and laid them out before the LORD.
24 And Joshua, and all Israel with him, took Achan the son of Zerah, and the silver, and the garment, and the wedge of gold, and his sons, and his daughters, and his oxen, and his asses, and his sheep, and his tent, and all that he had: and they brought them unto the valley of Achor.
25 And Joshua said, Why hast thou troubled us? the LORD shall trouble thee this day. And all Israel stoned him with stones, and burned them with fire, after they had stoned them with stones.
26 And they raised over him a great heap of stones unto this day. So the LORD turned from the fierceness of his anger. Wherefore the name of that place was called, The valley of Achor, unto this day.

Hebrews 12:1-3
1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
3 For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.

Hebrews 10:28-29
28 He that despised Moses’ law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:
29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

The story of Potiphar’s house is very important! It begins with some of the twelve sons of Jacob whose name had been changed to Israel. These twelve sons of Israel are also known as the twelve tribes of Israel. Joseph was one of the twelve tribes of Israel.

Genesis 37:3-4
3 Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age: and he made him a coat of many colours.
4 And when his brethren saw that their father loved him more than all his brethren, they hated him, and could not speak peaceably unto him.

It came to pass that Israel sent Joseph to his brethren where they feed their flocks to see if it was well with them, his flocks, and to come back and bring him word again. However, as the children of Israel seen him coming they conspired against him to slay him. However, one of the twelve tribes of Israel, Reuben, heard of It and he delivered him out of their hands with the intention that he might rid him out of their hands, to deliver him to his father again. In the meantime a company of Ishmeelites with their camels bearing spicery and balm and myrrh, were on there way to carry it down to Egypt and Judah, one of the sons of Israel said to his brethren, “What profit is it if we slay our brother, and conceal his blood? Come, and let us sell him to the Ishmeelites, and let not our hand be upon him; for he is our brother and our flesh. And his brethren were content. Then there passed by Midianites merchantmen; and they drew and lifted up Joseph out of the pit, and sold Joseph to the Ishmeelites for twenty pieces of silver: and they brought Joseph into Egypt.” (Gen 37:26-28) “And the Midianites sold him into Egypt unto Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh’s, and captain of the guard.” (Gen 37:36)

Genesis 39:1-9
1 And Joseph was brought down to Egypt; and Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh, captain of the guard, an Egyptian, bought him of the hands of the Ishmeelites, which had brought him down thither.
2 And the LORD was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian.
3 And his master saw that the LORD was with him, and that the LORD made all that he did to prosper in his hand.
4 And Joseph found grace in his sight, and he served him: and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he had he put into his hand.
5 And it came to pass from the time that he had made him overseer in his house, and over all that he had, that the LORD blessed the Egyptian’s house for Joseph’s sake; and the blessing of the LORD was upon all that he had in the house, and in the field.
6 And he left all that he had in Joseph’s hand; and he knew not ought he had, save the bread which he did eat. And Joseph was a goodly person, and well favoured.
7 And it came to pass after these things, that his master’s wife cast her eyes upon Joseph; and she said, Lie with me.
8 But he refused, and said unto his master’s wife, Behold, my master wotteth not what is with me in the house, and he hath committed all that he hath to my hand;
9 There is none greater in this house than I; neither hath he kept back any thing from me but thee, because thou art his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?

Stay Out of Potiphar’s House and Stay away from Potiphar’s Wife!!

Genesis 39:10-12
10 And it came to pass, as she spake to Joseph day by day, that he hearkened not unto her, to lie by her, or to be with her.
11 And it came to pass about this time, that Joseph went into the house to do his business; and there was none of the men of the house there within.
12 And she caught him by his garment, saying, Lie with me: and he left his garment in her hand, and fled, and got him out.

Stay Out of Potiphar’s House and Stay away from Potiphar’s Wife!! You do have a choice!! You can say NO!! Even if there are consequences for saying NO!!

Two of the commandments given by God under the Law was:

Exodus 20:14
14 Thou shalt not commit adultery.

Exodus 20:17
17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour’s.

The penalty for laying with another man’s wife under the Law was death!!

Leviticus 20:10
10 And the man that committeth adultery with another man’s wife, even he that committeth adultery with his neighbour’s wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death.
