Matthew 12:30
30 He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad.

Jesus makes it very clear here. You are either gathering in or you are scattering abroad!! You are one or you are the other! There isn’t any in between!!

2 Corinthians 6:14-18
14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?
16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,

Luke 16:13-15
13 No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

Titus 2:11-15

12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

Psalms 37:7-13
7 Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.
8 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.
9 For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth.
10 For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be.
11 But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.
12 The wicked plotteth against the just, and gnasheth upon him with his teeth.
13 The Lord shall laugh at him: for he seeth that his day is coming.

James 1:22-24

Proverbs 14:31
31 He that oppresseth the poor reproacheth his Maker: but he that honoureth him hath mercy on the poor.

Proverbs 17:5
5 Whoso mocketh the poor reproacheth his Maker: and he that is glad at calamities shall not be unpunished.

2 The rich and poor meet together: the LORD is the maker of them all.

16 He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep.
17 He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.

John 10:7-18
7 Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.
8 All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them.
9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.

Even Tares need Water to Grow, but their Poison Produces Death

Even as Wheat needs the Spirit to grow: the Tares need the flesh to grow!! Even as the Wheat produces fruit unto righteousness: the Tares produce fruit unto unrighteousness!! Nevertheless let both grow up together until the time of harvest!! Unless while you gather up the Tares you root up the Wheat with them!!

Where is the place of the Tare? Their eyes are in the ends of the earth but they feast in the congregation of the dead with you!! Their words and their actions are in the realm of hypocrisy, lies, and deceit. Their ways are poison producing death within themselves while they sup with you and try to seduce you into their poisonous ways!! Their place is the place of Hell and of death!! All who eat of their meat will likewise partake of the bottomless pit where their soul dies not reserved for the Lake of Fire burning with brimstone!!

Where is the place of the Wheat? Their eyes are steadfast looking for a city whose builder and maker is God!! Their words and their actions are in the realm of peace, love, and joy. Their ways are holiness producing life within themselves while they sup with you and try to provoke you unto good works!! Their place is the place of Heaven and the Millennial Reign of Christ!! All who eat of their meat will likewise partake of the tree of life where their soul lives on reserved for the New Earth where the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations!!

Even Tares need Water to Grow, but their Poison Produces Death!! Even Wheat needs Water to Grow, but their Antidote produces Life!! Even Tares need soil to grow but venom is in their hearts and upon their lips. Even Wheat need soil to grow but praise is in their hearts and upon their lips. Even Tares need sun to grow and there is no light within them!! Even Wheat need Son to grow and there is pure Light within them!!

Even Tares need Water to Grow, but their Poison Produces Death!! They love a proud look and their tongues speak guile, deceit, and lies. They love to gossip and are talebearers. Their hands love to shed innocent blood, while their heart devises wicked imaginations, and their feet are swift in running to mischief!! A false witness that speaks lies and they love to sow discord among brethren.

Even so let the Tares grow up among the Wheat for their end is nigh unto burning!! Offences will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come!! Even so let the Tares grow up among the Wheat!! Unless while you root up the Tares the Wheat come up with them and they all be lost!! A brother offended is harder to be won than a strong city: and their contentions are like the bars of a castle!!

Tares are bitter and their poison produces death!! Their ears are dull of hearing and their hearts are waxed gross whose end is nigh unto burning!! They carry millstones in their pockets looking for the precious grain!! They are on the prowl to find others like them though hand join in hand, the wicked shall not be unpunished: but the seed of the righteous shall be delivered. Even Tares need Water to Grow, but their Poison Produces Death!! Their father is the devil and the lusts of their father will they do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. They are murderers who hate the truth and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in them!!

Wheat pray for the Tares to be converted. That God would perhaps give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will. Feel compassion and sorrow for them!! If a man be overtaken in a fault, you which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering yourself, for fear that you also be tempted.

Even Tares need Water to Grow likewise Wheat needs Water to Grow. The water is different for the Tares than the Wheat. The water of the Tares is that of the flesh and the Water of the Wheat is that of the Spirit. The desire of the Tares is the world and the desires of the Wheat is Jesus. The Tares desire the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life!! The Wheat desires to abstain from the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life!!

Tares thrive on hatred, bitterness, jealousies, envyings, and strifes while Wheat thrive on love, faith, hope, righteousness, and peace. Tares find bad in the good while Wheat find good in the bad. Tares follow the folly of their heart while the Wheat follow the wisdom of the Word.

Even so let the Tares grow up among the Wheat for their end is nigh unto burning!! The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear. Even Tares need Water to Grow, but their Poison Produces Death!!

Mercy

Psalms 68:19
19 Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah.

6 The heavens declare his righteousness, and all the people see his glory.
7 Confounded be all they that serve graven images, that boast themselves of idols: worship him, all ye gods.

Love the fulfilling of the Law

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. (Jn 15:13-14)

A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. (Jn 13:34-35)

Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. (Mt 22:37-40)

But whoso hath this world’s good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him? My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him. (1 Jn 3:15-19)

Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. (Gal 6:2) We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves. Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification. For even Christ pleased not himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on me. (Rm 15:1-3)

Come let us Grow Together: Be not Drunk with Wine

And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; (Eph 5:18 KJV) Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise. (Prov 20:1 KJV)

Notice carefully that wine is a mocker. You may not realize this, but wine mocks the Spirit of the Lord and we are to be of a sober mind.

But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words: For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day. But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: (Acts 2:14-17 KJV)

Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night. But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him. (1 Thess 5:6-10 KJV)

We as the children of God are not to keep company with winebibbers which is from an unused root meaning to effervesce; wine (as fermented); by implication intoxication—Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary.

Hear thou, my son, and be wise, and guide thine heart in the way. Be not among winebibbers; among riotous eaters of flesh: For the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty: and drowsiness shall clothe a man with rags. (Prov 23:19-21 KJV)

Take careful note of what the wisest man who ever lived says about them that tarry long at the wine; them that go to seek mixed wine.

Who hath woe? who hath sorrow? who hath contentions? who hath babbling? who hath wounds without cause? who hath redness of eyes? They that tarry long at the wine; they that go to seek mixed wine. (Prov 23:29-30 KJV)

So what does he advise for us to do?

Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth his colour in the cup, when it moveth itself aright. At the last it biteth like a serpent, and stingeth like an adder. Thine eyes shall behold strange women, and thine heart shall utter perverse things. Yea, thou shalt be as he that lieth down in the midst of the sea, or as he that lieth upon the top of a mast. They have stricken me, shalt thou say, and I was not sick; they have beaten me, and I felt it not: when shall I awake? I will seek it yet again. (Prov 23:31-35 KJV)

Woe unto him that giveth his neighbour drink, that puttest thy bottle to him, and makest him drunken also, that thou mayest look on their nakedness! Thou art filled with shame for glory: drink thou also, and let thy foreskin be uncovered: the cup of the LORD’S right hand shall be turned unto thee, and shameful spewing shall be on thy glory. (Hab 2:15-16 KJV)

Let us not be as the fleshly seed of Israel were.

But they also have erred through wine, and through strong drink are out of the way; the priest and the prophet have erred through strong drink, they are swallowed up of wine, they are out of the way through strong drink; they err in vision, they stumble in judgment. For all tables are full of vomit and filthiness, so that there is no place clean. (Isa 28:7-8 KJV)

Let us who are of the spiritual seed of Israel, “… be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;” (Eph 5:18 KJV)

Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents. For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath. And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. (Matt 25:14-30 KJV)

Don't Bury Your Talent

Don’t be as the one that buried his talent that the Lord had given to him. Don’t be as one that doesn’t even know that he has squandered away the talent his Lord has given to him. The Lord has given to each of us according to our individual ability. But what are you doing with the talent the Lord has given to you? Are you as one that has digged down into the earth and has hidden his talent?

There are those that have wasted and squandered their talents pursuing careers with them. Seeking to make gain in the natural world with the talent that their Lord gave unto them. Are you one of these unprofitable servants of whom when his Lord comes will catch him unawares?

There are also those claiming and believing that they are using their talent that their Lord gave to them for the kingdom of heaven and yet instead are exploiting the gospel for gain. Are you one of these unprofitable servants who when your Lord comes will find you asleep and with no oil in your lamp?

What are you doing with the talent your Lord has given to you? Are you using it for the kingdom of God and for his righteousness? What is your motives behind what you are doing with the talent your Lord has given to you? Are you seeking to reach the multitudes for personal gain? Or are you seeking to edify the Body of Christ and to bring glory and honor unto our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ? Are you reaching and stretching yourself for the benefit of others and for a testimony of Jesus Christ? Or are you seeking to please yourself in your own pursuit of happiness?

Don’t be as the wicked and unprofitable servant who has either buried his talent or squandered it away pursuing earthly possessions that blow away with the wind.

And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of meat in due season? Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. Of a truth I say unto you, that he will make him ruler over all that he hath. But and if that servant say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken; The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers. And that servant, which knew his lord’s will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. (Lk 12:42-47 KJV)

Come let us Grow Together is a weekly series that deals with the many topical categories that exist within the Word of God. The purpose of this series is to grow in wisdom, knowledge, and understanding in things pertaining to God.

Discouragement is not being Thankful for the Here & Now.

In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. (1 Thess 5:18)

In the process of your giving of thanks you will find yourself entering into the praise and worship of God! This will relieve your discouragement. Choose to Worship & Praise God through your circumstances.

Discouragement is a Distrust for the Future.

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. (Heb 11:6)

Discouragement is an Indifference for Opportunity.

Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. (Matt 5:14-16)

Rebuke Discouragement!!

But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. (1 Tim 6:6-8)

Discouragement is an Insecurity for Tomorrow.

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. (Prov 3:5-6)

Find Hope!!
Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life. (Prov 13:12)

Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God. (Psa 42:11)

Discouragement is an impatience with time. Have patience with God’s time.

To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: (Eccl 3:1)

Be full of faith!! Faith says I can!! Remember this too will pass!!

This lesson will be using the Seven Core Army Values and the Soldier’s Creed of the U.S. Army with Biblical principles and scriptures used in it’s place.

Loyalty

Bear true faith and allegiance to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the Body of Jesus Christ, your local Church assembly and your fellow Brothers and Sisters in Christ. Bearing true faith and allegiance is a matter of believing in and devoting yourself to something or someone. A loyal Soldier is one who supports the leadership and stands up for fellow Soldiers. By wearing the whole armour of God you are expressing your loyalty. And by doing your share, you show your loyalty to the household of God.

To bear true faith and allegiance to the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to be part of the Body of Jesus Christ, you must first understand what the Gospel of Jesus Christ is, how you become part of the Body of Jesus Christ, and how you continue in the Body of Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 15:1-4
1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

So the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. To become part of the Body of Jesus Christ you must be born again of water and of the Spirit.

John 3:1-7
1 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:
2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.
3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born?
5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

This is accomplished by obedience to the faith of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ and by partaking of it. Jesus said to his Apostles.

John 17:20-21
20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;
21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.

Matthew 28:19-20
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Luke 24:45-49
45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,
46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:
47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
48 And ye are witnesses of these things.
49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.

This was fulfilled when the day of Pentecost was fully come and the disciples received the promise of the Father which was the Holy Ghost.

Acts 2:1-4
1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Then the Apostle Peter fulfilled what Jesus Christ had taught them with his understanding opened to the scriptures concerning Jesus Christ and proclaimed how we are to become born again of water and of the Spirit.

Acts 2:38-39
38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

This is the fulfilment of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and how we enter into the Body of Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 3:11
11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 2:18-22
18 For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.
19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;
20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;
21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:
22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

To continue in the Body of Jesus Christ you must be zealous of good works, rooted and grounded in the faith that was once delivered to us, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, while following after peace and holiness without which no man shall see the Lord.

Titus 2:13-15
13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
15 These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.

Titus 3:8
8 This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.

Colossians 2:6-10
6 As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:
7 Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.
8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:

Ephesians 3:14-19
14 For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
15 Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,
16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;
17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,
18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;
19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.

Jude 1:20-23
20 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,
21 Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
22 And of some have compassion, making a difference:
23 And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.

Hebrews 12:14
14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:

2 Corinthians 7:1
1 Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

Romans 14:19
19 Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.

As a loyal soldier of Jesus Christ you must obey them that have the rule over you, forsake not the assembling of yourselves together as the manner of some is, while preferring your brother and sister above yourself.

Hebrews 13:17
17 Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.

1 Peter 5:5-11
5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.
6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

Hebrews 10:24-25
24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:
25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

Romans 12:10
10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;

Philippians 2:3-4
3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.
4 Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.

Ephesians 6:10-18
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

Duty

Fulfill your obligations. Doing your duty means presenting your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. Duty means being able to accomplish tasks as part of the Body of Jesus Christ. The work of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is a complex combination of missions, tasks and responsibilities — all in constant motion. Our work entails studying and understanding how the Bible is set up, the keeping of those commandments of God, and spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ. You fulfill your obligations as a part of the Body of Christ every time you resist the temptation to sin which undermines the integrity of the final product which is the bond of perfectness.

Romans 12:1-5
1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
4 For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office:
5 So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.

John 14:15
15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.

1 John 5:3-4
3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

1 Peter 2:5
5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

Philippians 2:2
2 Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.

Ephesians 5:30
30 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.

In order to fulfill the keeping of God’s commandments you need to study to show yourself approved unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, correctly interpreting the Word of God. You also need to understand to whom God will teach knowledge and to whom God shall make to understand doctrine, as well as allowing your speech to minister grace to the hearers.

2 Timothy 2:15
15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

2 Timothy 3:16-17
16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

Isaiah 28:9-10
9 Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts.
10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:

Ephesians 4:29
29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

1 Peter 3:15-16
15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:
16 Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.

Colossians 3:14
14 And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.

Respect

Treat people as you would desire to be treated. As a Soldier of Jesus Christ, we must follow the teachings of Jesus Christ. Love is what allows us to appreciate the best in other people. Respect is trusting that all people have done their jobs and fulfilled their duty. And self-respect is a vital ingredient with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, which results from knowing you have put forth your best effort without condemning yourself. The Body of Jesus Christ is one team and each of us has something to contribute.

Matthew 7:12
12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

Luke 6:31-38
31 And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.
32 For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also love those that love them.
33 And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same.
34 And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again.
35 But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.
36 Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.
37 Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:
38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

Romans 13:10
10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

John 13:34-35
34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

Ephesians 5:29-30
29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:
30 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.

1 Corinthians 4:3-4
3 But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged of you, or of man’s judgment: yea, I judge not mine own self.
4 For I know nothing by myself; yet am I not hereby justified: but he that judgeth me is the Lord.

Philippians 3:13-15
13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
15 Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.

1 Corinthians 12:12-26
12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.
13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
14 For the body is not one member, but many.
15 If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?

26 And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.

Selfless Service

Put the welfare of the kingdom of God, the Gospel of Jesus Christ and your brothers and sisters before yourself. Selfless service is larger than just one person. In serving the kingdom of God, you are doing your duty loyally without thought of recognition or gain. The basic building block of selfless service is the commitment of each team member to go a little further, endure a little longer, and look a little closer to see how he or she can add to the effort.

Mark 10:42-45
42 But Jesus called them to him, and saith unto them, Ye know that they which are accounted to rule over the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and their great ones exercise authority upon them.
43 But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister:
44 And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all.
45 For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

Galatians 5:13-16
13 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.
14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
15 But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another.
16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

Galatians 5:24-26
24 And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
26 Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

1 Corinthians 3:13-14
13 Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.
14 If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.

Honour

Live up to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Render therefore to all their dues. Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. As Soldiers of Jesus Christ we are commanded to be both honorable and to show honour with every choice we make. Honour is a matter of carrying out, acting, and living the values of love, respect, duty, loyalty, selfless service, integrity and personal courage in everything you do.

Philippians 1:27
27 Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;

Romans 8:1-2
1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

2 Timothy 2:19
19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

Romans 13:7
7 Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.

1 Peter 1:5-7
5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
6 Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:
7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

1 Peter 2:17
17 Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.

Integrity

Do what’s right, legally and morally. Integrity is a quality you develop by adhering to moral principles. It requires that you do and say nothing that deceives others. As your integrity grows, so does the trust others place in you. The more choices you make based on integrity, the more this highly prized value will affect your relationships with family and friends, and, finally, the fundamental acceptance of yourself.

Romans 13:1-6
1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
2 Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.
3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:
4 For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.
5 Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake.
6 For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God’s ministers, attending continually upon this very thing.

Acts 4:15-19
15 But when they had commanded them to go aside out of the council, they conferred among themselves,
16 Saying, What shall we do to these men? for that indeed a notable miracle hath been done by them is manifest to all them that dwell in Jerusalem; and we cannot deny it.
17 But that it spread no further among the people, let us straitly threaten them, that they speak henceforth to no man in this name.
18 And they called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus.
19 But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye.

Colossians 3:9-11
9 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;
10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:
11 Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.

1 Thessalonians 4:3-8
3 For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:
4 That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;
5 Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God:
6 That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified.
7 For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.
8 He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who hath also given unto us his holy Spirit.

1 Corinthians 3:16-17
16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

Personal Courage

Face fear, danger or adversity. Personal courage comes from faith in knowing that if God is for you who can be against you, knowing that you can do all things through Jesus Christ which strengthens you, and knowing that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. With personal courage, it is a matter of he that endures to the end the same shall be saved, enduring physical duress and at times risking personal safety.

Luke 12:32
32 Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

Matthew 10:28
28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Romans 8:31-39
31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?
33 Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth.

Philippians 4:11-13
11 Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.
12 I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.
13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Romans 8:28-30
28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

22 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.

Soldier’s Creed

I am a Christian Soldier.

I am a warrior and a member of the Body of Christ.

Come let us Grow Together: We are the Body of Christ, and Members in particular

Come let us Grow Together is a weekly series that deals with the many topical categories that exist within the Word of God. The purpose of this series is to grow in wisdom, knowledge, and understanding in things pertaining to God.

For our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked: That there should be NO SCHISM in the body; but that the members should have the SAME CARE one for another. And whether one member suffer, all the members SUFFER with it; or one member be honoured, all the members REJOICE with it. Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular. (1 Cor 12:24-27)

This is what we are striving for concerning Charity in the Body of Christ. Charity being Love.

Charity suffereth LONG, and is KIND; charity envieth NOT; charity vaunteth NOT itself, IS NOT puffed up, DOTH NOT behave itself unseemly, SEEKETH NOT her own, IS NOT easily provoked, thinketh NO EVIL; Rejoiceth NOT in iniquity, but REJOICETH in the truth; BEARETH all things, BELIEVETH all things, HOPETH all things, ENDURETH all things. CHARITY NEVER FAILETH: (1 Cor 13:4-8)

This is what we are striving for concerning Unity in the Body of Christ.

And when they were come in, they went up into an upper room, where abode both Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew, Philip, and Thomas, Bartholomew, and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon Zelotes, and Judas the brother of James. These all continued with ONE ACCORD in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren. (Acts 1:13-14)

And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with ONE ACCORD in one place. (Acts 2:1)

And they, continuing DAILY with ONE ACCORD in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with GLADNESS and SINGLENESS of heart, Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord ADDED to the church DAILY such as should be saved. (Acts 2:46-47)

This is what we are striving to put away from us as the Body of Christ.

For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you ENVYING, and STRIFE, and DIVISIONS, are ye not carnal, and walk as men? (1 Cor 3:3)

Let all BITTERNESS, and WRATH, and ANGER, and CLAMOUR, and EVIL SPEAKING, be put away from you, with all MALICE: (Eph 4:31)

This is what we are striving for concerning the members of the Body of Christ!

And be ye KIND one to another, TENDERHEARTED, FORGIVING one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you. (Eph 4:32)

Be of the SAME MIND one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. BE NOT wise in your own conceits. RECOMPENSE to no man evil for evil. Provide things HONEST in the sight of all men. If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live PEACEABLY with all men. Dearly beloved, AVENGE NOT yourselves, but rather GIVE PLACE unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is MINE; I will repay, saith the Lord. (Rm 12:16-19)

We then that are strong ought to BEAR THE INFIRMITIES of the weak, and NOT TO PLEASE ourselves. Let every one of us PLEASE his neighbour FOR HIS GOOD TO EDIFICATION. For even Christ PLEASED NOT himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached thee FELL ON ME. For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for OUR LEARNING, that we through PATIENCE and COMFORT of the scriptures might have HOPE. Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be LIKEMINDED one toward another according to Christ Jesus: That ye may with ONE MIND and ONE MOUTH glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Wherefore RECEIVE ye one another, as Christ also RECEIVED US to the glory of God. (Rm 15:1-7)

Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all SPEAK THE SAME THING, and that there be NO DIVISIONS among you; but that ye be PERFECTLY JOINED together in the SAME MIND and in the same judgment. For it hath been declared unto me of you, my brethren, by them which are of the house of Chloe, that there are contentions among you. (1 Cor 1:10-11)

Finally, brethren, farewell. Be PERFECT, be of GOOD COMFORT, be of ONE MIND, live in PEACE; and the God of love and peace shall be with you. (2 Cor 13:11)

Only let your CONVERSATION BE as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in ONE SPIRIT, with ONE MIND STRIVING together for the FAITH OF THE GOSPEL; (Phil 1:27)

IF there be therefore any consolation in Christ, IF any comfort of love, IF any fellowship of the Spirit, IF any bowels and mercies, Fulfil ye my joy, that ye BE LIKEMINDED, having the SAME LOVE, being of ONE ACCORD, of ONE MIND. Let nothing be done through STRIFE or VAINGLORY; but in lowliness of mind let each ESTEEM OTHER BETTER than themselves. (Phil 2:1-3)

Finally, be ye all of ONE MIND, having COMPASSION one of another, LOVE as brethren, be PITIFUL, be COURTEOUS: Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but CONTRARIWISE BLESSING; knowing that ye are thereunto CALLED, that ye should INHERIT a blessing. For he that will love life, and see good days, let him REFRAIN HIS TONGUE from evil, and HIS LIPS that they speak NO GUILE: Let him ESCHEW evil, and do GOOD; let him SEEK PEACE, and ENSUE IT. (1 Peter 3:8-11)
