Genesis 2:16-25
16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
18 And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.
19 And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.
20 And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him.
21 And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;
22 And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.
23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.
24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.
25 And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.

Before sin ever took place “the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.” A help meet is an aid. God chose to make man and then provide a help meet for Adam. Eve was not formed out of the dust of the ground like Adam. “And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” (Gen 2:7) Rather Eve was made by God by one of Adam’s ribs. Adam was a man and because Eve was a help meet and was not first formed before Adam, Adam named her. Adam chose to call her “Woman” because “Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh”. Adam also named his wife. Eve was not given the option to name herself because she was not formed first and “she was taken out of Man”. “And Adam called his wife’s name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.” (Gen 3:20) Since Eve “was the mother of all living” there can be no other humans that were created by God other than Adam and Eve because the qualifications for humans to be living was described by God when he made Adam when God “breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” So for Eve to be “the mother of all living” her and Adam had to “Be fruitful, and multiply” (Gen 1:28) to procreate the human race. So even before the fall of mankind into sin Adam was first formed and Eve was made to be his help meet.

In the process of time Eve was tempted by the serpent to disobey God which we know that satan was using.

Genesis 3:1-8
1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
8 And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.

Eve was tricked or beguiled by the serpent because she was told “ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil” thus to her it was “a tree to be desired to make one wise”. Adam was not deceived but rather “hearkened unto the voice of thy wife”. (Gen 3:17)

1 Timothy 2:14-15
14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.
15 Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.

This is not to say that Adam did not sin in obeying the voice of his wife.

Romans 5:14
14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam’s transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come.

So because of their sin God punished Adam, Eve, and the Serpent.

Genesis 3:9-19
9 And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?
10 And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.
11 And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?
12 And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.
13 And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.
14 And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:
15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.
17 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;
18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;
19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

Adam’s punishment being not deceived but because he “hearkened unto the voice of thy wife” was given this punishment by God, “cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field; In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground”. Eve’s punishment being deceived by the serpent was told by God, “I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.”

It is important to understand that when the Apostle Paul told Timothy “And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety”, (1 Tim 2:14-15) that he was speaking directly of the punishment given to Eve concerning her punishment given by God. This doesn’t mean a woman can’t be barren and saved as the scripture continues on to say “if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety”.

A major confusion that is taking place in the Church today is not understanding that just because we are living in the New Testament these punishments didn’t go away nor did the created order change or become irrelevant. It is spoken of continuously throughout the New Testament as well as the Old Testament.

We must understand the purpose of why the Law of Moses was given.

Romans 3:19-20
19 Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.
20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

The Law was given “that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God” “ for by the law is the knowledge of sin.” The Law was given to show you that you were guilty before God and living under condemnation and were thus in need of a Savior because “by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.”

Since the Law was given for these reasons it also reflects within it the different roles of man and woman and their punishments given to them by God! This is highly overlooked! The Law reflected the punishments given to Adam and Eve within it. Let me share a few examples.

Leviticus 12:1-8
1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
2 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If a woman have conceived seed, and born a man child: then she shall be unclean seven days; according to the days of the separation for her infirmity shall she be unclean.
3 And in the eighth day the flesh of his foreskin shall be circumcised.
4 And she shall then continue in the blood of her purifying three and thirty days; she shall touch no hallowed thing, nor come into the sanctuary, until the days of her purifying be fulfilled.
5 But if she bear a maid child, then she shall be unclean two weeks, as in her separation: and she shall continue in the blood of her purifying threescore and six days.
6 And when the days of her purifying are fulfilled, for a son, or for a daughter, she shall bring a lamb of the first year for a burnt offering, and a young pigeon, or a turtledove, for a sin offering, unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, unto the priest:
7 Who shall offer it before the LORD, and make an atonement for her; and she shall be cleansed from the issue of her blood. This is the law for her that hath born a male or a female.
8 And if she be not able to bring a lamb, then she shall bring two turtles, or two young pigeons; the one for the burnt offering, and the other for a sin offering: and the priest shall make an atonement for her, and she shall be clean.

We can see very clearly here an example of the purpose of the Law which was to make “every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God” “for by the law is the knowledge of sin” and how it reflected the punishment given by God to whether you were a man or whether you were a woman. Since the woman is “saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety” while part of her punishment was “I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children” it is reflected here in the Law. “If a woman have conceived seed, and born a man child: then she shall be unclean seven days; according to the days of the separation for her infirmity shall she be unclean” (Lev 12:2) “And she shall then continue in the blood of her purifying three and thirty days” (Lev 12:4) for a male child. “But if she bear a maid child, then she shall be unclean two weeks, as in her separation: and she shall continue in the blood of her purifying threescore and six days.” (Lev 12:5) The time for her purification is doubled if she has a female versus a male child. The reason why is because “by the law is the knowledge of sin” and “that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.” A constant reminder of the punishment given to Eve by God in the Garden of Eden.

Another example of the Law reflecting the different roles of man and woman and their punishments given to them by God is how the father and husband could stop a vow of the woman that she vowed to God. It didn’t say the father could stop the vow of his son or the wife could stop the vow of her husband. This is because another portion of the punishment of Eve given by God was “thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.” This being reflected in the Law and also showing the created order given by God in the Garden of Eden. “For Adam was first formed, then Eve” (1 Tim 2:13) and Eve was Adam’s help meet.

Numbers 30:3-8
3 If a woman also vow a vow unto the LORD, and bind herself by a bond, being in her father’s house in her youth;
4 And her father hear her vow, and her bond wherewith she hath bound her soul, and her father shall hold his peace at her: then all her vows shall stand, and every bond wherewith she hath bound her soul shall stand.
5 But if her father disallow her in the day that he heareth; not any of her vows, or of her bonds wherewith she hath bound her soul, shall stand: and the LORD shall forgive her, because her father disallowed her.
6 And if she had at all an husband, when she vowed, or uttered ought out of her lips, wherewith she bound her soul;
7 And her husband heard it, and held his peace at her in the day that he heard it: then her vows shall stand, and her bonds wherewith she bound her soul shall stand.
8 But if her husband disallowed her on the day that he heard it; then he shall make her vow which she vowed, and that which she uttered with her lips, wherewith she bound her soul, of none effect: and the LORD shall forgive her.

When God gave Moses the Law he also established a priesthood known as the Aaronic priesthood because Aaron, the brother of Moses, of the tribe of Levi, was to be the first high priest and to his sons after him. While God then gave the Levites unto Aaron and to his sons to do the service of the tabernacle. This is a very important point. Only the males of the tribe of Levi were to be used. This again reflecting the created order of Adam being first formed then Eve and also the punishments given by God to Adam and Eve.

1 Timothy 2:12-14
12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.
13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve.
14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.

Numbers 3:5-13
5 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
6 Bring the tribe of Levi near, and present them before Aaron the priest, that they may minister unto him.
7 And they shall keep his charge, and the charge of the whole congregation before the tabernacle of the congregation, to do the service of the tabernacle.
8 And they shall keep all the instruments of the tabernacle of the congregation, and the charge of the children of Israel, to do the service of the tabernacle.
9 And thou shalt give the Levites unto Aaron and to his sons: they are wholly given unto him out of the children of Israel.
10 And thou shalt appoint Aaron and his sons, and they shall wait on their priest’s office: and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death.
11 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
12 And I, behold, I have taken the Levites from among the children of Israel instead of all the firstborn that openeth the matrix among the children of Israel: therefore the Levites shall be mine;
13 Because all the firstborn are mine; for on the day that I smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt I hallowed unto me all the firstborn in Israel, both man and beast: mine shall they be: I am the LORD.

So what about Deborah a prophetess and a judge in Israel?

Judges of Israel did not have to belong to the Aaronic priesthood nor to the tribe of Levi, therefore Deborah a prophetess and Judge in Israel can not be used to establish that women in the New Testament can be in ministry other than the calling of a prophet. What has become known as the 5 fold ministry does include prophets. However, this does not include the role of being an apostle, evangelist, pastor, or teacher as well as a preacher as this goes against the clear teaching of the scripture in both the Old Testament and the New Testament.

So even though the Law was given by God, and the Aaronic priesthood set up by God, and the tribe of Levi given to the Aaronic priesthood to do the service of the tabernacle the Judges of Israel did not have to be of the tribe of Levi. Thus Deborah a prophetess and a judge in Israel can not be used to establish that women in the New Testament can be in ministry other than the calling of a prophet, because the judges did not have to be of the tribe of Levi.

The judge Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb’s younger brother was of the tribe of Judah.

Numbers 13:6
6 Of the tribe of Judah, Caleb the son of Jephunneh.

Judges 3:8-11
8 Therefore the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel, and he sold them into the hand of Chushanrishathaim king of Mesopotamia: and the children of Israel served Chushanrishathaim eight years.
9 And when the children of Israel cried unto the LORD, the LORD raised up a deliverer to the children of Israel, who delivered them, even Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb’s younger brother.
10 And the Spirit of the LORD came upon him, and he judged Israel, and went out to war: and the LORD delivered Chushanrishathaim king of Mesopotamia into his hand; and his hand prevailed against Chushanrishathaim.
11 And the land had rest forty years. And Othniel the son of Kenaz died.

Judges 10:1-3
1 And after Abimelech there arose to defend Israel Tola the son of Puah, the son of Dodo, a man of Issachar; and he dwelt in Shamir in mount Ephraim.
2 And he judged Israel twenty and three years, and died, and was buried in Shamir.
3 And after him arose Jair, a Gileadite, and judged Israel twenty and two years.

So we must remember that the punishments given by God to Adam and Eve were not only reflected in the Law but still remain in the New Testament as well as seen throughout the New Testament.

1 Timothy 2:11-14
11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.
12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.
13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve.
14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.

If the woman is to learn in silence with all subjection how then can she be the pastor of the Church seeing the Apostle Paul went on to say “But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression”?

This is the Apostle Paul bringing our attention back to the created order of God and the punishments given by God to Adam and to Eve. What is to be misunderstood in this passage of scripture above? It was very clearly stated. In case there still be any confusion let’s hear it again.

1 Corinthians 14:34-37
34 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law.
35 And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.
36 What? came the word of God out from you? or came it unto you only?
37 If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord.

If the woman is to “learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church”, then how can she be the Pastor of the Church? The word shame that is being used here in the Greek is the same Greek word used for shame concerning women praying or prophesying with their head uncovered.

1 Corinthians 11:5-6
5 But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.
6 For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered.

You can not try to answer this question by saying “there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus”, (Gal 3:28) because you are not only undoing what was written by the Apostle Paul in 1 Timothy 2:11-14 and 1 Corinthians 14:34-37, but you are also doing away with the headship that was also taught by the Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 11:3 “But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.”

You can not nullify these scriptures concerning the instruction given by the Apostle Paul concerning women by using the Apostle Paul’s words against himself saying “there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus”.

This question also can not be answered by saying that we are a royal priesthood so whether we are male or female doesn’t apply because the Apostle Peter is referring back to Old Testament scripture stating almost the identical thing and we know that only the Aaronic priesthood and the Levites, all male, were permitted to the service of the sanctuary.

1 Peter 2:9
9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:

Deuteronomy 7:6-7
6 For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God: the LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth.
7 The LORD did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people:

Exodus 19:5-6
5 Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine:
6 And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel.

God is not going to break his Word and call a woman to pastor his church when we “are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets” (Eph 2:20) and the Apostle Paul is laying the foundation saying “Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.” The Apostle also stating, “Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law. And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church. What? came the word of God out from you? or came it unto you only? If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord.”

There isn’t anything to debate within these scriptures in regards to a woman being called to pastor a church as it is clearly written and can not be done away with.

Just four verses after the Apostle Paul makes the statement “Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence, (1 Tim 2:11-12) he immediately begins to speak of the office of a bishop stating “This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.” (1 Tim 3:1) But he then qualifies who can be a bishop at verse two which reads, “A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach”. Notice very carefully that a bishop must be “the husband of one wife”. This again establishes that a woman can not be called to be a pastor of the Church. Furthermore the Apostle Paul explains that a bishop must also be “One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity; (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)” (1 Tim 3:4-5)

Many churches use the word bishop as an overseer of many churches, but notice here the Apostle Paul speaks of the church of God singularly. If the Apostle Paul had intended this reference to be referring to many churches he would have used the word churches just as he did continuously throughout his epistles. So the use of the word bishop here is being used interchangeably with being a pastor of the Church.

So again we see a woman can not be the pastor or bishop of the Church. The Apostle Paul goes on to teach who can be a deacon within the Church stating “Likewise must the deacons be grave, not doubletongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre;” (1 Tim 3:8) “Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things. Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well.” (1 Tim 3:11-12) Here we also learn that a deacon can not be a woman.

Many people have tried desperately to find a way to allow women to be pastors, teachers, and deacons within the church but as anyone can plainly see from the wording of the Apostle Paul this is not the case. God does not call women to be pastors and teachers. The Apostle Paul spoke this very plainly in the preceding chapter stating “Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.” (1 Tim 2:11-14) He follows this up by explicitly excluding women from the roles of bishop and deacon by saying that a bishop or deacon must be “the husband of one wife” (1 Tim 3:2, 12) Within these verses of scripture we also see that the husband is “to rule his own house” (1 Tim 3:5) “ruling their children and their own houses well.” (1 Tim 3:12)

Many people have contended that Phebe (Rm 16:1-2) was a deacon. However as the Word of God has clearly stated through his servant the Apostle Paul a deacon must “be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well.” (1 Tim 3:12)

The scriptures are very clear that a woman can not be the pastor or bishop of a Church. Neither can they be in the office of a deacon. The Apostle Paul explained why this is “For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.” (1 Tim 2:13-14) This is all about the divine order of God. Since Eve was in the transgression God’s punishment to her was: “Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.” (Gen 3:16) So the divine order of God is directly tied in with the created order and the punishment given by God to the woman. “But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.” (1 Cor 11:3) “For the man is not of the woman; but the woman of the man. Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man.” (1 Cor 11:8-9)

1 Peter 3:1-7
1 Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;
2 While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear.
3 Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;
4 But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.
5 For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:
6 Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement.
7 Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.

Even the Apostle Paul who believed he was following after God in haling Christians, consenting to put them to death, and compelling them to blaspheme God immediately changed when he was given the correct understanding. Even so should everyone that comes to the correct understanding of what the Word of God teaches us. The Apostle Paul thought as a Pharisee that God had called him to do the things he was doing contrary to Jesus of Nazareth until Jesus of Nazareth appeared to him and revealed the truth to him.

Ephesians 5:22-33
22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.
23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.
24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.
25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.
29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:
30 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.
31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. [Pointing back to the Law and Adam Prophesying of his wife Gen 2:21-25]
32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.
33 Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.

The Apostle Paul is speaking here of the husband and wife, which is Christ and the Church that we are married. Speaking of this mystery once we have taken on Christ as our husband as the Church we are now members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones! And we are to behave ourselves accordingly! This passage of scriptures is also explaining how the husband and wife are to treat each other and again we see the reflection of the punishments given to us by God in the Law in the Garden of Eden that the woman is to be under subjection to her husband which is her head in everything whereas the husband is to love his wife nourishing and cherishing her while also being ready to die for her! The Apostle Paul has also explained to us our marriage as the Church to Christ while also explaining to us our roles according to our punishments given to us by God in the Law in the Garden of Eden and then we see the Apostle Paul again speaking of the Law with the Prophecy of Adam concerning his wife as found in Genesis 2:21-25 here stated as “For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.”

Genesis 2:21-25
21 And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;

21 And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;

17 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;
18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;

3 If a woman also vow a vow unto the LORD, and bind herself by a bond, being in her father’s house in her youth;
6 And if she had at all an husband, when she vowed, or uttered ought out of her lips, wherewith she bound her soul;

11 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
12 And I, behold, I have taken the Levites from among the children of Israel instead of all the firstborn that openeth the matrix among the children of Israel: therefore the Levites shall be mine;

1 Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;
2 While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear.
3 Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;

25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

21 And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;

Your Reasonable Service

Matthew 25:14-19, 24-30
14 For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.
15 And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey.
16 Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents.
17 And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two.
18 But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord’s money.
19 After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them.
24 Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed:
25 And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.
26 His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:
27 Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.
28 Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.
29 For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.
30 And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Question. Are you the profitable servant doing the will of our Father in heaven? Or are you the unprofitable servant who went and hid the truth in unrighteousness? “For many are called, but few are chosen.” (Matthew 22:14)

You must be born again to inherit the kingdom of God it is your reasonable service!

John 3:1-6
1 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:
2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.
3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born?
5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

John 3:14-17
14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:
15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

“God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” However, this did not negate the fact that you were told in the beginning of the chapter “Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.”

It is your reasonable service to find out what this means!

2 Timothy 2:15
15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Are you the profitable servant or are you the unprofitable servant who went and hid the truth in unrighteousness?

Luke 13:1-5
1 There were present at that season some that told him of the Galilaeans, whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.
2 And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above all the Galilaeans, because they suffered such things?
3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
4 Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem?
5 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

It is your reasonable service to repent of your sins!

Luke 9:23-25
23 And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.
24 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.
25 For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away?

It is your reasonable service to take up your cross daily and follow after Jesus the Christ!

Mark 16:15-18
15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

It is your reasonable service to go and share the gospel with everybody! It is your reasonable service to baptized as a believer in Jesus the Christ!

Matthew 28:18-20
18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Are you the profitable servant or are you the unprofitable servant who went and hid the truth in unrighteousness? It is your reasonable service to be baptized correctly and to teach everybody else to do the same!

Luke 24:45-49
45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,
46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:
47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
48 And ye are witnesses of these things.
49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.

It is your reasonable service to understand what the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost is! Jesus just said that “that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem”.

Acts 2:1-4
1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

It is your reasonable service to understand that the Holy Ghost was the promise of the Father that the disciples were waiting for in the city of Jerusalem!

Acts 2:36-39
36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.
37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

It is your reasonable service to understand that the correct way to be baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost was revealed both by Jesus saying, that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalemand the Apostle Peter and the rest of the Apostles being present understood the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost is Jesus the Christ! It is your reasonable service to “Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost“!

Are you the profitable servant who will keep the commandments of his Lord or the unprofitable servant who went and hid the truth in unrighteousness?

John 17:19-20
19 And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.
20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;

It is your reasonable service to follow after the teaching of Jesus the Christ and that of those “which shall believe on me through their word”!

Ephesians 2:18-22
18 For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.
19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;
20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;
21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:
22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

It is your reasonable service to understand that the Holy Spirit is not automatically received just because you believe in Jesus, have faith in Jesus, repented of your sins, and even were baptized in Jesus name for the remission of your sins!

Acts 8:12-17
12 But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.
13 Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done.
14 Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:
15 Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:
16 (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)
17 Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.

Are you the profitable servant or are you the unprofitable servant who went and hid the truth in unrighteousness? It is your reasonable service to understand the Holy Ghost was not yet given even after the believers with faith in Jesus Christ who “were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus” had not yet received the Holy Spirit “For as yet he was fallen upon none of them”! What makes you any different than these believers in Jesus Christ that you are convinced you have received the Holy Spirit some other way? “And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”

Acts 19:1-6
1 And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples,
2 He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost.
3 And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John’s baptism.
4 Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.
5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.

It is your reasonable service to understand that the receiving of the Holy Spirit came after the Apostle Paul laid his hands upon them just like the receiving of the Holy Spirit came after the Apostle Peter and Apostle John laid hands upon the believers “and they received the Holy Ghost”!

Romans 8:9
9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

It is your reasonable service to understand that “if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his”! Are you the profitable servant doing the will of our Father in heaven? Or are you the unprofitable servant who went and hid the truth in unrighteousness? For many are called, but few are chosen.” (Matthew 22:14)

Psalms 77:9-13
9 Hath God forgotten to be gracious? hath he in anger shut up his tender mercies? Selah.
10 And I said, This is my infirmity: but I will remember the years of the right hand of the most High.
11 I will remember the works of the Lord: surely I will remember thy wonders of old.
12 I will meditate also of all thy work, and talk of thy doings.
13 Thy way, O God, is in the sanctuary: who is so great a God as our God?

“Thy way, O God, is in the sanctuary: who is so great a God as our God?” If you are not in the sanctuary attending Church how can you find your way?

“But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased. Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.” (Hebrews 13:16-17)

YOU MUST HAVE A PASTOR OVER YOU THAT YOU ARE ACCOUNTABLE TO!!

The Pastor is the shepherd of the flock and MUST GIVE AN ACCOUNT for those of whom he shepherds!! “Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.” (Acts 20:28)

THE PASTOR MUST HAVE THE SPIRITUAL MEAT PREPARED FOR YOU!! But how can you eat of it IF YOU ARE NOT THERE? You can not use the excuse well the church is the body and I’m the church so I don’t have to attend church. THIS IS FALLACY AND FOLLY!!!!

“And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins”. (Hebrew 10:24-26)

YOU ARE SINNING when you do not come to church where the body of believers gather together to LEARN of God and to be NOURISHED by God!!! Thy way, O God, is IN THE SANCTUARY!! YOU MUST BE A PART OF A CHURCH AND HAVE A PASTOR OVER YOU!! Thy way, O God, is IN THE SANCTUARY!! GET INTO THE CHURCH where the body is gathered together “But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.” (Ephesians 4:15-16)

For our comely parts have no need: but GOD HATH TEMPERED THE BODY TOGETHER, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked: That there should be NO SCHISM in the body; but that the members should have the SAME CARE one for another. And whether one member suffer, ALL THE MEMBERS SUFFER with it; or one member be honoured, ALL THE MEMBERS REJOICE with it. Now YE ARE THE BODY of Christ, and MEMBERS IN PARTICULAR. (1 Corinthians 12:24-27)

IT IS FOOLISHNESS to believe that you are going to heaven while WILLFULLY SINNING BY NOT GATHERING TOGETHER with the believers where the body of God has NO SCHISM and is being NOURISHED by God and being INCREASED by the edifying of it’s OWN SELF IN LOVE!!! If you are not there, YOU CAN NOT FIND the nourishment you need TO SUSTAIN YOU because you are a sheep that REFUSES THE SPIRITUAL MEAT AND DRINK!!!

“I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto THE SEVEN CHURCHES which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.” (Revelation 1:11)

How would you know what fault you or the church of God is having WHEN YOU DO NOT COME TO A CHURCH!!!! The televangelist IS NOT your shepherd!!!! YOU HAVE LEFT YOUR FIRST LOVE AND DON’T EVEN KNOW IT!!!!! Because you think you are ok SITTING AT HOME!!!!

“Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. Remember therefore from whence THOU ART FALLEN, and REPENT, and DO THE FIRST WORKS; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, EXCEPT THOU REPENT.” (Revelation 2:4-5)

THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS TO YOU WHO HAVE LEFT YOUR FIRST LOVE!!!!

“Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. And this will we do, if God permit. For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.” (Hebrews 6:1-6)

YOU ARE NOT GOING ON UNTO PERFECTION BUT ARE OF THOSE WHO WILLINGLY SIN AGAINST GOD AND ARE IN NEED OF REPENTANCE ONCE AGAIN!!!!

“And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.” (Mark 12:29-31)

Those who LOVE THE LORD with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength GATHER THEMSELVES TOGETHER UNDER THEIR SHEPHERD AT CHURCH WHERE GOD HAS HIS WAY IN THE SANCTUARY!!!!

It’s time to REPENT AND DO THE FIRST WORKS AGAIN!!!!

THERE IS UNITY IN THE BODY AND POWER IN UNITY!!!!

I’m sure everyone has heard the phrase, UNITED WE STAND AND Divided WE FALL. This phrase has been used in mottos from nations, states, and songs. The concept is that unless the people are UNITED AS ONE, then it is EASY to destroy them.

THIS SAME CONCEPT IS TRUE OF THE BODY!!!!

This is in direct contrast to the phrase, DIVIDE AND CONQUER, which is a combination of military, political, and economic strategy of gaining and maintaining power BY BREAKING UP larger concentrations of power into smaller concentrations of power that is LESS powerful than the one trying to be conquered. In the end “WHERE THERE IS NO VISION, THE PEOPLE PERISH” (Proverbs 29:18) AND THIS VISION IS COMING FROM YOUR PASTOR OF WHOM THE HOLY GHOST HAS MADE HIM OVERSEER OF THE FLOCK OF GOD!!!!

The idea of being a UNITED PEOPLE AND STANDING or being a DIVIDED PEOPLE AND FALLING can be seen in the words of Jesus Christ!!!!

“And the scribes which came down from Jerusalem said, He hath Beelzebub, and by the prince of the devils casteth he out devils. And he called them unto him, and said unto them in parables, How can Satan cast out Satan? And IF A KINGDOM BE DIVIDED AGAINST ITSELF, THAT KINGDOM CANNOT STAND. And IF A HOUSE BE DIVIDED AGAINST ITSELF, THAT HOUSE CANNOT STAND. And if Satan rise up against himself, AND BE DIVIDED, HE CANNOT STAND, but hath an end.” (Mark 3:22-26)

As you can see from Jesus’ own words THERE IS POWER IN UNITY!!!!

“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron’s beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments; As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.” (Psalms 133:1-3)

David has told us HOW PRECIOUS IT IS FOR BRETHREN TO DWELL TOGETHER IN UNITY!!!! He compared brotherly unity, TO THE HOLY ANOINTING OIL that was poured upon the first priest Aaron, and which anointed the tabernacle.

BROTHERLY UNITY IS PRICELESS!!!!

We find that BROTHERLY UNITY, was an ABSOLUTE NECESSITY OF THE APOSTLES and their work FOR THE LORD!!!!

“Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is from Jerusalem a sabbath day’s journey. And when they were come in, they went up into an upper room, where abode both Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew, Philip, and Thomas, Bartholomew, and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon Zelotes, and Judas the brother of James. THESE ALL CONTINUED WITH ONE ACCORD IN PRAYER AND SUPPLICATION, WITH THE WOMEN, and Mary the mother of Jesus, AND WITH HIS BRETHREN.” (Acts 1:12-14)

THERE IS POWER IN UNITY!!!!

“Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Again I say unto you, THAT IF TWO OF YOU SHALL AGREE on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, IT SHALL BE DONE for them of my Father which is in heaven. FOR WHERE TWO OR THREE ARE GATHERED TOGETHER IN MY NAME, THERE AM I IN THE MIDST OF THEM.” (Matthew 18:18-20)

“And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, THEY WERE ALL WITH ONE ACCORD IN ONE PLACE. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. AND THEY WERE ALL FILLED WITH THE HOLY GHOST, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.” (Acts 2:1-4)

THERE IS HOLY GHOST POWER IN UNITY!!!!

“And they, CONTINUING DAILY WITH ONE ACCORD IN THE TEMPLE, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and SINGLENESS OF HEART, Praising God, and having FAVOUR with all the people. AND THE LORD ADDED TO THE CHURCH DAILY SUCH AS SHOULD BE SAVED. (Acts 2:46-47)

THERE IS REVIVAL IN UNITY!!!!

“But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye. For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard. So when they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding nothing how they might punish them, because of the people: for all men glorified God for that which was done. For the man was above forty years old, on whom this miracle of healing was showed. And being let go, they went to their own company, and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said unto them. And when they heard that, THEY LIFTED UP THEIR VOICE TO GOD WITH ONE ACCORD, and said, Lord, thou art God, which hast made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is: Who by the mouth of thy servant David hast said, Why did the heathen rage, and the people imagine vain things? The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and against his Christ. For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together, For to do whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel determined before to be done. And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all BOLDNESS they may speak thy word, By stretching forth thine hand TO HEAL; and that SIGNS AND WONDERS may be done BY THE NAME of thy holy child Jesus. And when THEY had prayed, the place was shaken where THEY were assembled together; and THEY were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and THEY spake the word of God with boldness. AND THE MULTITUDE OF THEM THAT BELIEVED WERE OF ONE HEART AND OF ONE SOUL: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; BUT THEY HAD ALL THINGS COMMON. And with GREAT POWER GAVE THE APOSTLES WITNESS OF THE RESURRECTION OF THE LORD JESUS: and great grace was upon them all.” (Acts 4:19-33)

THERE IS HOLY GHOST POWER IN UNITY!!!!!

“TWO are better than one; because they have a GOOD REWARD for their labour. For if they fall, THE ONE WILL LIFT UP HIS FELLOW: but woe to him THAT IS ALONE when he falleth; for HE HATH NOT ANOTHER to help him up. Again, if TWO lie together, then they have heat: BUT HOW CAN ONE be warm alone? And if one prevail against him, TWO shall withstand him; AND A THREEFOLD CORD IS NOT QUICKLY BROKEN.” (Ecclesiastes 4:9-12)

THERE IS STRENGTH IN UNITY!!!!

“And by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders wrought among the people; (AND THEY WERE ALL WITH ONE ACCORD in Solomon’s porch.” (Acts 5:12) “(Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment: It seemed good unto us, BEING ASSEMBLED WITH ONE ACCORD, to send chosen men unto you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul, Men that have HAZARDED THEIR LIVES for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. We have sent therefore Judas and Silas, who shall also tell you the same things BY MOUTH.” (Acts 15:24-27)

AS THE APOSTLES LIVED IN UNITY, THEY ALSO INSTRUCT US TO DO THE SAME!!!!!

“BE OF THE SAME MIND ONE TOWARD ANOTHER. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your OWN CONCEITS. Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things HONEST in the sight of all men. If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, LIVE PEACEABLY WITH ALL MEn. Dearly beloved, AVENGE NOT yourselves, but rather GIVE PLACE unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.” (Romans 12:16-19)

WE MUST BE OF THE SAME MIND TO BE IN UNITY!!!!

“We then that ARE STRONG ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and NOT TO please ourselves. LET EVERY ONE OF US please his neighbour for his good to EDIFICATION. For even Christ pleased not himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on me. For whatsoever things were written aforetime WERE WRITTEN FOR OUR LEARNING, that we through PATIENCE and COMFORT of the scriptures MIGHT HAVE HOPE. Now the God of patience and consolation GRANT YOU TO BE LIKEMINDED ONE TOWARD ANOTHER according to Christ Jesus: That ye may with ONE MIND AND ONE MOUTH GLORIFY GOD, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. WHEREFORE RECEIVE YE ONE ANOTHER, as Christ also RECEIVED US to the glory of God. ” (Romans 15:1-7)

“Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, THAT YE ALL SPEAK THE SAME THING, AND THAT THERE BE NO DIVISIONS AMONG YOU; BUT THAT YE BE PERFECTLY JOINED TOGETHER IN THE SAME MIND AND IN THE SAME JUDGMENT.” (1 Corinthians 1:10)

THERE IS NO DIVISION IN UNITY!!!!

“Finally, brethren, farewell. BE PERFECT, be of good comfort, BE OF ONE MIND, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.” (2 Corinthians 13:11)

UNITY COMES FROM THE 5-FOLD MINISTRY!!!!

“And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; FOR THE PERFECTING of the saints, FOR THE WORK of the ministry, FOR THE EDIFYING of the body of Christ: TILL WE ALL COME IN THE UNITY OF THE FAITH, AND OF THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE SON OF GOD, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: FROM WHOM THE WHOLE BODY FITLY JOINED TOGETHER AND COMPACTED by that which EVERY JOINT SUPPLIETH, according to the EFFECTUAL WORKING IN THE MEASURE OF EVERY PART, maketh INCREASE OF THE BODY UNTO THE EDIFYING OF ITSELF IN LOVE.” (Ephesians 4:11-16)

WE MUST BE LIKEMINDED TO HAVE UNITY!!!!

“ONLY let your conversation be as it BECOMETH the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that YE STAND FAST IN ONE SPIRIT, WITH ONE MIND STRIVING TOGETHER FOR THE FAITH OF THE GOSPEL”. (Philippians 1:27) “IF there be therefore any consolation in Christ, IF any comfort of love, IF any fellowship of the Spirit, IF any bowels and mercies, FULFIL YE MY JOY, THAT YE BE LIKEMINDED, HAVING THE SAME LOVE, BEING OF ONE ACCORD, OF ONE MIND. Let nothing be done THROUGH strife or vainglory; but in LOWLINESS OF MIND LET EACH ESTEEM OTHER BETTER THAN THEMSELVES.” (Phillippians 2:1-3)

UNITY SEEKETH NOT HER OWN!!!!!

“FINALLY, BE YE ALL OF ONE MIND, having compassion one of another, LOVE AS BRETHREN, be pitiful, be courteous: Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but CONTRARIWISE BLESSING; knowing that ye are thereunto CALLED, that ye should inherit a blessing. For he that will love life, and see good days, LET HIM REFRAIN HIS TONGUE FROM EVIL, AND HIS LIPS THAT THEY SPEAK NO GUILE: LET HIM ESCHEW EVIL, AND DO GOOD; LET HIM SEEK PEACE, AND ENSUE IT.” (1 Peter 3:8-11)

“Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, ARM YOURSELVES LIKEWISE WITH THE SAME MIND: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin; That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, BUT TO THE WILL OF GOD.” (1 Peter 4:1-2)

WHEN THERE IS UNITY, THERE WILL BE REVIVAL!!!!!!!

THE TIME TO ACT IS NOW!!!!

You can not look at the past and what could have been!!! “Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, FORGETTING THOSE THINGS WHICH ARE BEHIND, and REACHING FORTH unto those things WHICH ARE BEFORE, I press toward the mark FOR THE PRIZE of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 3:13-14)

“And that, KNOWING THE TIME, that now it is HIGH TIME TO AWAKE OUT OF SLEEP: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, THE DAY IS AT HAND: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us PUT ON THE ARMOUR OF LIGHT. Let us walk HONESTLY, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. BUT PUT YE ON the Lord Jesus Christ, and MAKE NOT PROVISION FOR THE FLESH, to fulfil the lusts thereof.” (Romans 13:11-14)

“Wherefore he saith, AWAKE THOU THAT SLEEPEST, AND ARISE FROM THE DEAD, and Christ shall give thee light. See then that ye walk CIRCUMSPECTLY, not as fools, but as wise, REDEEMING THE TIME, because the days are evil. Wherefore be ye not unwise, BUT UNDERSTANDING WHAT THE WILL OF THE LORD IS. And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; BUT BE FILLED WITH THE SPIRIT”. (Ephesians 5:14-18)

The Greek word translated for “redeeming” means:

from <G1537> (ek) and <G59> (agorazo); to buy up, i.e. ransom; figurative to rescue from loss (improve opportunity) :- redeem.—Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary

So it is HIGH TIME TO REDEEM THE TIME!!! It’s time to BUY UP TIME by remaining STEADFAST in the faith!! Being UNMOVEABLE and ROOTED in GOOD SOUND DOCTRINE!! LABOURING in the things that are good!! LABOURING in the harvest field!!

“For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have MINISTERED to the saints, and DO MINISTER. And we desire that every one of you DO SHEW THE SAME DILIGENCE TO THE FULL ASSURANCE OF HOPE UNTO THE END: That ye BE NOT SLOTHFUL, but followers of them WHO THROUGH FAITH AND PATIENCE INHERIT THE PROMISES. (Hebrews 6:10-12)

IT IS HIGH TIME TO REDEEM TIME BY SPENDING YOUR TIME IN PRAYER, FASTINGS, STUDYING THE WORD OF GOD, WITNESSING THE GOSPEL, AND BEING ZEALOUS OF GOOD WORKS WHEREUNTO YOU WERE CALLED!!!!

WHEN THE BODY COMES TOGETHER!!!!

This is what we are STRIVING FOR CONCERNING CHARITY in the Body of Christ! Charity being Love!

“Charity suffereth LONG, and is KIND; charity envieth NOT; charity vaunteth NOT itself, IS NOT puffed up, DOTH NOT behave itself unseemly, SEEKETH NOT her own, IS NOT easily provoked, thinketh NO EVIL; Rejoiceth NOT in iniquity, but REJOICETH in the truth; BEARETH all things, BELIEVETH all things, HOPETH all things, ENDURETH all things. CHARITY NEVER FAILETH”. (1 Corinthians 13:4-8) “And above all these things PUT ON CHARITY, WHICH IS THE BOND OF PERFECTNESS. And LET THE PEACE OF GOD RULE IN YOUR HEARTS, to the which also YE ARE CALLED IN ONE BODY; and BE YE THANKFUL. Let the word of Christ DWELL IN YOU RICHLY IN ALL WISDOM; TEACHING AND ADMONISHING ONE ANOTHER in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing WITH GRACE IN YOUR HEARTS TO THE LORD. And whatsoever ye do IN WORD OR DEED, DO ALL IN THE NAME OF THE LORD JESUS, GIVING THANKS TO GOD AND THE FATHER BY HIM.” (Colossians 3:14-17)

This is what we are striving to put away from us as the Body of Christ!

“For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you ENVYING, and STRIFE, and DIVISIONS, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?” (1 Corinthians 3:3) “Let all BITTERNESS, and WRATH, and ANGER, and CLAMOUR, and EVIL SPEAKING, be put away from you, with all MALICE”. (Ephesians 4:31) “But ye are A CHOSEN GENERATION, A ROYAL PRIESTHOOD, AN HOLY NATION, A PECULIAR PEOPLE; THAT YE SHOULD SHEW FORTH THE PRAISES OF HIM WHO HATH CALLED YOU OUT OF DARKNESS INTO HIS MARVELLOUS LIGHT: Which in time past were NOT a people, BUT ARE NOW THE PEOPLE OF GOD: which had NOT obtained mercy, BUT NOW HAVE OBTAINED MERCY. Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, ABSTAIN FROM FLESHLY LUSTS, WHICH WAR AGAINST THE SOUL”. (1 Peter 2:9-11)

This is what we are striving for concerning the members of the Body of Christ!

“And be ye KIND one to another, TENDERHEARTED, FORGIVING one another, EVEN AS GOD for Christ’s sake HATH FORGIVEN YOU.” (Ephesians 4:32)

“HOW LONG WILT THOU SLEEP, O SLUGGARD? WHEN WILT THOU ARISE OUT OF THY SLEEP?” (Proverbs 6:9)

C & C: How Can I, Except Some Man should Guide Me?

Connections and Comparisons is an ongoing weekly series that deals with many scriptures in the Bible, some of which are not commonly addressed.  The purpose of this series is to examine the scriptures at hand comparing what is said and looking at the connections within.

Acts 8:25-39
25 And they, when they had testified and preached the word of the Lord, returned to Jerusalem, and preached the gospel in many villages of the Samaritans.
26 And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert.
27 And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship,
28  Was returning, and sitting in his chariot read Esaias the prophet.
29 Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot.
30 And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest?
31 And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.
32  The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth:
33 In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth.
34 And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man?
35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.
36 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?
37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
38 And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.
39 And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.

It is of the utmost importance that you have a Pastor and a preacher in your life!!  Otherwise how can you hear and understand except some man should guide you?

Romans 10:13-17
13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?
17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

You need a Pastor and a preacher in your life to hear and understand the Word of God!!  You need help from the called man of God!! “how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent?”

Hebrews 13:17
17 Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.

It is vitally important that you understand what you read and what you hear!!  It is vitally important that scripture is interpreted correctly!!  It is vitally important to understand the context of the scriptures you are reading!!  How can I, except some man should guide me?

Even the passages we just read have eternal consequences to your soul concerning salvation!!  You can look at these scriptures and immediately say “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” not keeping the verse at hand in context with the epistle to the Roman Church and not in the correct understanding with other scriptures to the destruction of your own soul!! Did the scripture not also say “But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?” Have you believed the report?  Have you obeyed the gospel?

2 Timothy 2:15
15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Are you studying the scriptures to see if what you are being taught is correct?

2 Timothy 3:16-17
16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

What about what Jesus said?

Matthew 7:21-23
21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

What about what the Apostle Paul just said in Romans chapter 10 verse 13?  “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”  Did he make a mistake?  Or have a greater revelation than Jesus Christ of whom he received the gospel?  Or is there something that you do not understand?  How can I, except some man should guide me?

What is the context of the scripture at hand?  How does this work together with the other scriptures in the Word of God?  We just read that when Philip preached Jesus to the eunuch that the eunuch upon seeing “a certain water” “said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him. And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.”

So after hearing and believing the preaching of Jesus the eunuch knew he must be baptized.  So did the Apostle Paul not know this?  Or is there something that you do not understand?  How can I, except some man should guide me?

Does the Apostle Paul in Romans chapter 10 forget what he said in chapter 6 concerning baptism in Jesus name that the people obeyed?  Does that make void what Jesus spoke?  “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.”  Or is there something that you do not understand?  How can I, except some man should guide me?

Romans 6:16-18
16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.
18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness

So the people that the Apostle Paul was speaking to had “obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered” them before he later tells these same people “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13)

In Romans 6:17 we find that the Apostle Paul says, “but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.”  In Romans 10:9 above it read, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”  Does this make void the doctrine that they obeyed from the heart that was delivered to them?  The answer is no.  It is written that they had obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered to them.

As you can see from this example you can not just go to a certain scripture in a certain book of the Word of God and decide that you understand it’s meaning without studying the rest of the scriptures contained elsewhere.  What you see here is the people obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine that was delivered to them and then later on those people were told that “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”  This is because these people had “obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered” to them.  What is this form of doctrine which was delivered to them?  It is the baptism in Jesus name.   Hear it!

Romans 6:3
3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

This form of doctrine that they obeyed from the heart is found in the book of Acts 2:36-39.

Acts 2:36-39
36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made the same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.

Acts 8:34-39

The preaching of the gospel of Jesus Christ to someone who is not saved will always bring forth what you must do in order to be saved!!  “Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the LORD our God shall call. And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation. Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.” (Acts 2:38-41)

Salvation is the gift of God but if you do not obey the gospel and “Save yourselves from this untoward generation” by applying what was spoken to “even as many as the LORD our God shall call” (Acts 2:39) then you will be lost in your sins because you did not obey the gospel of Jesus Christ!!

Let’s take a closer look at Romans chapter 6 where we learn that those to whom this epistle to the Church at Rome had already obeyed from their heart and you will discover the topic of baptism in Jesus name and that of the promise of the Holy Ghost.  It was this form of doctrine that they had obeyed that had set them free from the law of sin and death!!

18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.

Let’s take a closer look at Romans chapter 6.

Romans 6:1-9
1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

Notice carefully the question asked here, “How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?”  The Apostle Paul goes on to explain how we become dead to sin.

3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:

Notice the if clause in verse 5.  If we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection.  Also in verse 3 the Apostle Paul speaks of the baptism in Jesus name as the way that we are planted together in the likeness of his death.  This is that form of doctrine that they obeyed from the heart which was delivered to them.

6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
7 For he that is dead is freed from sin.
8 Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:
9 Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.

If you are not planted together in the likeness of his death, the body of sin will not be destroyed and you will perish in your sins because your old man was not crucified with him and therefore you will not be dead with Christ nor will you be freed from sin that you inherited from Adam.

How can I, except some man should guide me?
