Predestination, Choice, and the God of the Universe

Let me begin this lesson by stating that this particular doctrine of predestination is a very difficult doctrine to understand. Two passages of scripture are very helpful for us to keep in mind as we study this lesson.

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.” (Isaiah 55:8-9)

“For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.” (1 Corinthians 13:12)

Jeremiah 1:5a
5 Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee;

We are predestinated according to the foreknowledge of God, but does this then mean that we do not have a choice?

Romans 8:29-31 Brackets inserted by me
29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. {the first begotten of the dead (Rev 1:5); the firstfruits of them that slept. (1 Cor 15:20)… in the likeness of his death, burial, and resurrection.}
30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified. {to be justified in the sight of God one needs to be born again of water and of the Spirit.}
31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

If you take notice, those who he did foreknow were predestinated to be conformed to the image of his son. Another words jointly formed or similar to by partaking of the Lord’s sufferings, being born again of God, and entering into the Body of Christ.

Romans 6:8
8 Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:

Ephesians 1:4-5 Brackets inserted by me
4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children {the born again process} by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,

Let me briefly mention that sonship was lost when Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden. There were not any more sons of God until the New Covenant (Testament) of God was in force (the born again process of God) and we were once again able to become the sons of God (Spiritual regeneration). The Sons of God you see throughout the Old Testament after the fall of Adam and Eve are referring to Angels.

Romans 8:14-19 Brackets inserted by me
14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. {Abba – This Syriac word, which intimates filial affection (the relation of a child to a parent) and respect, and parental tenderness,}
16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
19 For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.

Though we were predestinated unto God by Jesus Christ unto himself before the foundation of the world, this would in no way eliminate freedom of choice.

John 3:16
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

2 Peter 3:9 Brackets inserted by me
9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, {the promise of his coming} as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Though we were predestinated according to the foreknowledge of God the Lord has told us, “that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” We were also told that, the Lord is, “longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”

The choice is ours. Do we believe in Jesus Christ? Have we become obedient unto the faith of the gospel of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ? By repenting of our sins and being baptized in Jesus name? For the remission of our sins that were inherited from birth; where the body of sin is destroyed as we are buried with him by baptism into death? Have we received the promise of the receiving of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives the utterance? As is taught throughout scripture?

What about God hardening Pharaoh’s heart? And has not the Potter power over the clay?

Romans 9:16-24
16 So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that showeth mercy.
17 For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might show my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth.
18 Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth.
19 Thou wilt say then unto me, Why doth he yet find fault? For who hath resisted his will?
20 Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?
21 Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?
22 What if God, willing to show his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction:
23 And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory,
24 Even us, whom he hath called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?

How could one have a choice if God had afore prepared the vessels of mercy unto glory? Who has resisted his will?

What did we read above?

Though we were predestinated according to the foreknowledge of God the Lord has told us, “that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” We were also told that, the Lord is, “longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”

So how does this work together?

2 Timothy 2:19-21
19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.
21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.

If we want to be a vessel of honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, we must depart from iniquity and purge ourselves from vessels of dishonour. The choice is ours!!

John 6:37
37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.

For the Lord will in no wise cast out those that come to Him. The choice is ours. For the Lord is, “longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”

And who are those that the Father gives unto Jesus that he will in no wise cast out?

Answer is: whosoever will. Freedom of choice!!

Revelation 22:17
17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

For there is no respect of persons with God.

Colossians 3:25
25 But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons.

Remember: God knew the end before the beginning. He knew every choice that every person would make before he ever made them, yet he chose to make us anyway. Thus he predestinated those that he foreknew to be conformed to the image of His Son. For through the blood of Jesus Christ is the redemption and reconciliation for mankind.

Isaiah 46:9-10
9 Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me,
10 Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:

John 13:19
19 Now I tell you before it come, that, when it is come to pass, ye may believe that I am he.

Let us take a deeper look at the doctrine of predestination.

Did God predestinate Adam and Eve to sin? No, he gave them a choice of whether to obey or not to obey. Man fell. Did God predestinate man to sin and die to fulfill his plan? No, God created man to have fellowship with him and obey him by freedom of choice. Was God’s will for mankind to sin and fall short of the glory of God? No, his will was for man to fellowship with him in obedience by freedom of choice.

So man was not predestinated to sin, but God in his foreknowledge knew that man would fall because he is omniscient (all knowing). So he knew the choices that each individual would make in their lifetime and ultimately where they would spend their eternity.

For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son.

Those of whom he did not foreknow were prepared for destruction. The reason he did not foreknow them (in the sense of being his children) was because they were none of his. The reason they were none of his was because God in his foreknowledge knew that they would not choose to serve him and therefore he shows mercy on whom he will and he hardenth who he will.
But what about those who never had a chance to know God like those in the far reaches of the jungle? Or those that died without anyone to share the gospel with them? How could they choose to serve him because they did not know him? Choice. The very Creation witnesses of the God of the universe.

Romans 1:20-25
20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

The very creation of God speaks of his existence as the God of the universe, not as a plurality of deities but as One God. Meaning the very creation itself demands an intelligent creator. Design demands a designer. God’s eternal power and Godhead is made manifest within the very creation and the rules of which govern this creation.

21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

So he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world…. Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children… according to the good pleasure of his will.

In God’s foreknowledge he knew who would choose him and therefore he chose those who he foreknew would choose him. He knew the end from the beginning and predestinated us around this foreknowledge of which the Almighty Supreme Sovereign God of the universe, who is omniscient, chose us by election before the foundation of the world because he knew every choice that you would make in your life. Thus he knew who were his before the foundation of the world.

Again, if one starts to ask but doesn’t that mean that God made this person this way because God is the creator and this person then had no choice? The answer is still no, because God did not predestinate mankind to sin, but rather foreknew that mankind would fall. Did God predestinate mankind to fall? The answer again is no, God made man to have fellowship with him and obey him by freedom of choice. Otherwise you are actually accusing God of deliberately designing the Angels and mankind to fall. This is not true! He allowed them to exercise freedom of choice. Understand the will of God was freedom of choice to obey him because you so chose to. Not because you were forced to. God’s will was for man to fellowship with him in obedience by freedom of choice. Just like it was his will for all the Angels to fellowship with him in obedience by freedom of choice.

This is where you begin to recognize the love that God had for his creation of man. He gave man a way to once again become the sons of God and to be reconciled unto himself by Christ Jesus our Lord, even though we were in a fallen state. “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8) He did not give this same choice to the Angels that fell. This I believe is because they knew so much more than man and yet still chose to rebel against him.

So all of mankind was predestinated around what God already foreknew.

Matthew 11:21
21 Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.

God in his foreknowledge knew how people would have responded to events that did not take place. Here you see two cities that would have repented if the works that Jesus did in Chorazin and Bethsaida were done in them. What one begins to take notice of here is that people under different situations and circumstances would have chosen repentance versus not repenting. In essence they would have chose God rather than not choosing God. But those situations and circumstances did not take place. This is a great illustration of choice. These two towns, Chorazin and Bethsaida, did not repent by their own choice after seeing the mighty works of God within them, yet God in his omniscience knew that two other cities, Tyre and Sidon, would have repented under those same circumstances. But that is not what took place. What matters to us is what is, not what might have been.

God knew Pharoah’s heart. Therefore God in his foreknowledge predestinated Pharoah to be a vessel of wrath fitted for destruction because God knew what was going to take place with his children in Egypt… and this is what was… not what might have been.

To say that Pharoah had no choice of serving God is to say God predestinated sin. God did not predestinate sin but God allowed freedom of choice, of which if exercised against God is sin. God did not create Pharoah to sin, but rather Pharoah inherited sin from birth. It was Pharoah’s choice to afflict the children of Israel with the bondage of slavery. God then chose to redeem the children of Israel by the hand of Moses and Pharoah was given over to a reprobate mind and his heart was hardened. This is God showing mercy on whom he will and upon whom he will he hardenth.

Proverbs 16:4
4 The LORD hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.

Let us take a closer look at God’s eternal purpose. God had an eternal purpose in Christ Jesus. Just as God is eternal, his purpose in Christ was also eternal.

Ephesians 3:9-11
9 And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ:
10 To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God,
11 According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord:

To accomplish this purpose Jesus chose to pick Judas Iscariot to be one of his twelve Apostles to fulfill the scripture “Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me.” (Psalms 41:9) Judas had freedom of choice to follow after Jesus Christ but chose rather to betray him. God according to his foreknowledge knew that Judas would betray the Christ and so Jesus chose Judas to be one of the twelve Apostles.

John 6:67-71
67 Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away?
68 Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.
69 And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.
70 Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil?
71 He spake of Judas Iscariot the son of Simon: for he it was that should betray him, being one of the twelve.

John 13:10-11, 18-19
10 Jesus saith to him, He that is washed needeth not save to wash his feet, but is clean every whit: and ye are clean, but not all.
11 For he knew who should betray him; therefore said he, Ye are not all clean.
18 I speak not of you all: I know whom I have chosen: but that the scripture may be fulfilled, He that eateth bread with me hath lifted up his heel against me.
19 Now I tell you before it come, that, when it is come to pass, ye may believe that I am he.

Acts 2:22-24
22 Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know:
23 Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:
24 Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it.

Revelation 13:8
8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

In the eternal purpose which God purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord we find that in the mind of God, Jesus the Lamb of God, was slain from the foundation of the world.

Revelation17:8
8 The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.

Revelation 3:5
5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

“He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life” is choice and the removing of the name out of the book of life according to the scripture can take place, however calling those things that be not as though they were and knowing the end from the beginning God knows who will ultimately be written in the book of life from the foundation of the world whose names were not blotted out. Still being omniscient and still giving us choice yet still being predestined and still knowing the end from the beginning.

Romans 4:16-17
16 Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all,
17 (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.

Isaiah 46:9-10
9 Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me,
10 Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:

Christ was foreordained before the foundation of the world.

1 Peter 1:19-20
19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
20 Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,

The eternal purpose in Christ Jesus was to save his people that he foreknew from their sins!!

Psalms 51:5
5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me.

Every one of us were born in sin and shapen in iniquity. This is why we must be born again.

Romans 3:23
23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Ephesians 2:3
3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

Every one of us were worthy of death…

Romans 5:6-8
6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.
7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.
8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

John 3:19-21
19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

Those who hate the Light are blinded.

2 Corinthians 4:3-4
3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:
4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

Is there any hope for those who are blinded by satan?

2 Timothy 2:24-26 Brackets inserted by me
24 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt {prepared; ready; willing} to teach, patient,
25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

The Lord takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked.

Ezekiel 33:11
11 Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?

The choice is ours. Never the less…

Proverbs 16:4
4 The LORD hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.

Though the Lord does not take pleasure in the death of the wicked, he never the less chooses to make them anyway.

Acts 13:47-48
47 For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth.
48 And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed.

Exodus 20:11
11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

This scripture verifies that all that the Lord made, the heavens, the Earth, the sea and all things that were within the heavens, the Earth, and the sea were made in six literal days and the Lord rested on the seventh day! This would include dinosaurs! Everything was created in six literal days. Not periods of time. The gap theory is a lie as is any teaching that speaks of the six day creation of God as periods of time. The phrase “and all that in them is” is an all inclusive statement taking in everything that was created!! There is no way around this!! But there remains the scoffers, the ever learning and never able to come to the acknowledging of the truth, and those that are just full of rebellion against God, and sadly enough some good preachers and teachers of God who have some how lost sight and their faith have become entangled in sciences falsely so called and have tried to find a way to teach both the truth of God’s Word while also trying to manipulate God’s Word to fit their new found knowledge of how this world can exceed 6,000 years of which directly contradicts the teaching of God’s Word.

The So Called: Pre-Adamic world, The Luciferian Flood, and the Gap theory

The gap theory postulates that an indefinite span of time exists between Genesis 1:1 which reads, “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth” and Genesis 1:2 which reads, “And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.”

This time span is usually considered to be quite large (millions of years) and is also regarded to encompass the so-called “geologic ages.” Many proponents of the gap theory also postulate that a cataclysmic judgment was pronounced upon the Earth during this period as the result of the fall of Lucifer (Satan) and that the ensuing verses of Genesis chapter 1 describe a re-creation or reforming of the Earth from a chaotic state and not an initial creative effort on the part of God.

The reason for such an invention as this is to try to account for what man can not understand. Thus man in his own wisdom tries to give an account of what he can not accept by faith. That being that “in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day”. This being literally 24 hour days.

To believe that God created everything in six literally days is to accept that man and dinosaur walked the Earth together at the same time, that the geologic column is a false teaching, as well as the teaching of evolution.

The geological column is the theoretical classification system for the layers of rocks and fossils that make up the Earth’s crust such as the Mesozoic era. The geological age being within the geological era of time such as the Jurassic age.

The notion that the earth’s crust has on “onion skin” structure with successive layers containing all strata systems distributed on a global scale is not according to the facts. Data from continents and ocean basins show that the ten systems are poorly represented on a global scale: approximately 77% of the earth’s surface area on land and under the sea has seven or more (70% or more) of the strata systems missing beneath; 94% of the earth’s surface has three or more systems missing beneath; and an estimated 99.6% has at least one missing system.2 Only a few locations on earth (about 0.4% of its area) have been described with the succession of the ten systems beneath (west Nepal, west Bolivia, and central Poland). Even where the ten systems may be present, geologists recognize individual systems to be incomplete. The entire geologic column, composed of complete strata systems, exists only in the diagrams drawn by geologists!

The teaching of evolution and the teaching of the geological column and the geological ages are science falsely so called. Those who have erred concerning the faith to follow after these false teachings of science have compromised the truth of the Word of God by trying to insert an indefinite period of time between Genesis verse 1 and verse 2 as well as proclaiming that Genesis chapter 1 is actually describing a re-creation or reforming of the Earth from a chaotic state.

1 Corinthians 3:19-20
19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.
20 And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain.

1 Timothy 6:20-21
20 O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:
21 Which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen.

2 Peter 3:5-7
5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:
7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

This very passage of scripture from 2 Peter chapter 3 that states that these people are willingly ignorant of the flood of Noah’s time is actually used to support the teaching of the gap theory. However, they claim this flood is not referring to the flood of Noah, but rather to the luciferian flood. Even though scripture clearly states it was the flood of Noah’s time in the previous chapter. “And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;” (2 Peter 2:5) So let me quickly make clear that there is no such thing as a luciferian flood. This is part of the gap theory teaching because they can not accept the clear teaching of scripture that “in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day”.

Let’s take a closer look at:

Genesis 1:1-2
1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

These two verses of scripture give us a general introduction of the creation of the heaven and the Earth. We then read the account of what took place on each of the six days of creation from Genesis 1:3 – Genesis 2:3.

The idea of a pre-Adamic race is a false teaching that supposes that God created a race of humans who lived before God created Adam and Eve. There are several variations of this teaching but the reason for this teaching is the same as the reasons for the gap theory and that of the luciferian flood. That is they have chosen to doubt God’s Word and to look at our Earth and that of science to find that this Earth must be more than 6,000 years old. It is a love of worldly knowledge and worldly sciences falsely so called, who are continuously changing what they consider the facts to be to try to find a way to fit this so called scientific information into the Word of God.

There are several variations of the pre-Adamic world that exist. We will look at two. There are those that believe that God created people in Genesis chapter 1 and then Adam and Eve in Genesis chapter 2. This theory is trying to do away with the account of how the world’s population came from only one man and one woman, while also trying to do away with the fact that there were close family marriage relationships between brothers and sisters, uncles and nieces, aunts and nephews, cousins, and such that had taken place.

So this form of a pre-Adamic world places an entire human race outside of the Garden of Eden before the fall of Adam and Eve. The biblical claim for this doctrine is to separate the creating of mankind in Genesis chapter 1 with the creation of Adam and Eve in chapter 2. “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so. And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.” (Genesis 1:26-31) “Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.” (Genesis 2:1-3) “And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.” (Genesis 2:7-8 )

This is a failure to understand that Genesis chapter 1 is the explaining of the entire creation account of the heavens, the Earth, the sea; and all that in them is. This including the creation of man and woman on the sixth day. Genesis Chapter 2 takes a closer look at the creation of the man and the woman that took place on the sixth day of creation.

The word replenish also becomes a snare to many people because they immediately believe that it means to fill again.

The Hebrew word in use for replenish:

or mala’, maw-law’; (Esth. 7:5), a primitive root, to fill or (intransitive) be full of, in a wide application (literal and figurative) :- accomplish, confirm, + consecrate, be at an end, be expired, be fenced, fill, fulfil, (be, become, × draw, give in, go) full (-ly, -ly set, tale), [over-] flow, fulness, furnish, gather (selves, together), presume, replenish, satisfy, set, space, take a [hand-] full, + have wholly.—Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary

The Vine’s Complete Expository Dictionary of Old and New Testament Words also agrees.

To Fill
A. Verb
male (4390) “to fill, fulfill, overflow, ordain, endow.” This verb occurs in all Semitic languages (including biblical Aramaic) and in all periods. Biblical Hebrew attests it about 250 times.
Basically, male means “to be full” in the sense of having something done to one. In 2 Kings 4:6, the word implies “to fill up”: “And it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said….” The verb is sometimes used figuratively as in Gen. 6:13, when God noted that “the earth is filled with violence.” – The Vine’s Complete Expository Dictionary of Old and New Testament Words

The first appearance of this word is found in the same chapter of Genesis just six verses prior.

With Strong’s Concordance reference numbers inserted:

Genesis 1:22
22 And God <H430> blessed <H1288> them, saying <H559>, Be fruitful <H6509>, and multiply <H7235>, and fill <H4390> the waters <H4325> in the seas <H3220>, and let fowl <H5775> multiply <H7235> in the earth <H776>.

Genesis 1:28
28 And God <H430> blessed <H1288> them, and God <H430> said <H559> unto them, Be fruitful <H6509>, and multiply <H7235>, and replenish <H4390> the earth <H776>, and subdue it <H3533>: and have dominion <H7287> over the fish <H1710> of the sea <H3220>, and over the fowl <H5775> of the air <H8064>, and over every living thing <H2416> that moveth <H7430> upon the earth <H776>.

Notice that the same Hebrew words are used in both verses in the same order! <H6509> <H7235> <H4390>

“the earth was without form, and void” (Genesis 1:2) and needed to be filled! Filled, not refilled from a chaotic state, but filled with the six day creation of God!

This particular teaching of a pre-Adamic world uses the separation of the creating of mankind in Genesis chapter 1 with the creation of Adam and Eve in chapter 2 as an explanation of how the earth was populated and how it was that Cain could have knew his wife at Nod. However, this also goes against the scriptures. “And Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden. And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch.” (Genesis 4:16-17)

There are several points of consideration here. Such as how long was Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden? Genesis 5:5 tells us, “And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years: and he died.” We also know that God began keeping track of time in the creation account when he used the phrase “And the evening and the morning were the first day” etc. We were also told that Adam was 130 years old when Seth was born. “And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth:” (Genesis 5:3) This lets us know without any uncertainty that Adam and Eve could not have been in the Garden of Eden for any longer than 130 years. Since Adam was 130 years old when he had Seth, and Cain and Able were born before this time, it only stands to reason that Adam and Eve must also have had daughters. We are not given the ages of Cain and Able but only told “Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground”, (Genesis 4:2) that both had enough understanding to make “an offering unto the LORD”, (Genesis 4:3) and that Cain was old enough to murder his brother with malice. (Genesis 4:6-10)

So when we read “And Cain went out from the presence of the Lord, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden. And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch (Genesis 4:16-17) we must first take notice that it only says here that Cain went to the land of Nod and knew his wife. It doesn’t say that Cain found his wife there, just that he knew her there. So there is no evidence that Cain found this woman in Nod but rather most likely took her with him to the land of Nod. Who was this woman he took to the land of Nod? One of his sisters.

Another teaching of the pre-Adamic people are those that are found within the Gap theory and this generally takes into account the luciferian flood that destroyed this world via the judgment of God, of which God then recreates the world starting at Genesis 1:3. In this pre-Adamic world is where the dinosaurs would fit in and the result of the luciferien flood would give an account of the geologic column. Gap theorists place a gap of an unspecified time in between Genesis verse 1 and verse 2. ” In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.” (Genesis 1:1-2)

Remember, the gap theory teaches that we have an old Earth that is possibly millions of millions of years old. One of the major reasons they believe this teaching is because of the so called geologic column, of which they claim is a direct result of the so called luciferian flood that left the world without form and void. Even though they teach from Genesis 1:2 that the earth was without form and void this doesn’t stop them from keeping the geologic column which houses the fossil records intact. Hmm. Without form and void… yet with the fossil record intact.

These people are lovers of false sciences and that of man’s wisdom!!!

These sciences falsely so called are a way for mankind in their folly to try to account for the things that they can not accept by faith of God’s word. They are willingly ignorant of Noah’s flood because it contradicts what they already believe to be true, which is the teaching of evolution, the Gap theory, and the luciferian flood. Therefore those who still hold to the Bible, yet believing the false science of evolution, try to find a way to include an indefinite period of time so that they can account for the amount of time needed for the teaching of evolution to take place. So they have created the gap theory as a means to try to account for this indefinite period of time as well as using this indefinite period of time to account for another false science known as the geologic column which contains the fossil records. Many proponents of the gap theory pose that this geologic column was produced by the luciferian flood that destroyed the Earth leaving it without form and void.

To try to blend these false sciences and teachings with scripture, they speak of a Gap between Genesis 1:1 and 1:2. They claim that verse two of Genesis chapter 1 is the destruction of the original creation that God created perfectly and that it was destroyed by water. The reason they have chosen water as the means for this destruction of what they claim to be the original creation is because they must give an account of “the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished” and this they do by claiming that Noah’s flood did not destroy the world that then was because Noah and his family lived. So they have created another false teaching of claiming that when Lucifer (Satan) fell God destroyed that world with a flood and this calamity is responsible for the geologic column and the fossil record.

Again, they are willingly ignorant that the flood of Noah’s day is responsible for the fossil record that we have today. But to believe this is to believe that dinosaurs walked the earth together with mankind and that is to deny the teaching of evolution and the so-called geologic column. By removing the false teaching of evolution one is left with only the Biblical account of creation. For those that hate and deny God this is not an option. And for those who claim to believe the teaching of evolution as well as the Bible deny the teaching of the Bible to keep their belief in the teaching of evolution.

Don’t believe it?

What the Bible teaches versus what evolution teaches.

Everything multiplies after its own kind!

39 All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds.
40 There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another.

16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.
17 And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,
18 And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.
19 And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.

The sun & stars were created after the earth!

Genesis 1:14-15
14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:
15 And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.

Birds & fish were created on the same day!

Genesis 1:20-21
20 And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.
21 And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

Birds were created before reptiles!

Genesis 1:20-23
20 And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.

31 And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

Man was made from the dust of the earth!

Genesis 2:7
7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

Death was the result of man’s sin!

Romans 5:12
12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

According to the Word of God, “The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.” (Psalms 14:1) The reason for their folly? “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.” (Romans 1:18-23)

So then, what took place between Genesis chapter 1 verse 1 and verse 2? Genesis chapter 1 verses 1 and 2 just describes to us the first part of the creation process that was not finished yet. The rest of the chapter tells us how God filled the Earth with life and that which was needful to sustain life.

So if man and dinosaur walked the Earth together does the Bible speak of dinosaurs?

Exodus 20:11
11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

Genesis 1:21 (KJV)
21 And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

Genesis 1:21 (NKJV)
21 So God created great sea creatures and every living thing that moves, with which the waters abounded, according to their kind, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.

Hebrew word in use:

Tanniyn – intensive from the same as <H8565> (tan); a marine or land monster, i.e. sea-serpent or jackal :- dragon, sea-monster, serpent, whale.—Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary

Smith’s Bible Dictionary:

Whale – As to the signification of the Hebrew terms tan and tannin, variously rendered in the Authorized Version by “dragon,” “whale,” “serpent,” “sea-monster” see DRAGON.—Smith’s Bible Dictionary

Dragon – The translators of the Authorized Version, apparently following the Vulgate, have rendered by the same word “dragon” the two Hebrew words tan and tannin, which appear to be quite distinct in meaning.

1. The former is used, always in the plural, in Job 30:29; Psal 44:19; Isai 34:13; 43:20; Jere 9:11 It is always applied to some creatures inhabiting the desert, and we should conclude from this that it refers rather to some wild beast than to a serpent. The syriac renders it by a word which, according to Pococke, means a “jackal.”

2. The word tannin seems to refer to any great monster, whether of the land or the sea, being indeed more usually applied to some kind of serpent or reptile, but not exclusively restricted to that sense. Exod 7:9, 10, 12; Deut 32:33; Psal 91:13 In the New Testament it is found only in the Apocalypse, Reve 12:3, 4, 7, 9, 16, 17 etc., as applied metaphorically to “the old serpent, called the devil, and Satan.”
—Smith’s Bible Dictionary

Our focus is on the word tannin but I have included both definitions so that you will understand why the strong’s concordance above read: i.e. sea-serpent or jackal. So I am not saying that every time you see the word dragon that it could be referring to a dinosaur, but I am saying that in some of those cases it might be.

At the time of the translating of the KJV Bible the English word dinosaur had not yet been coined.

Word Origin & History according to dictionary.com:

dinosaur – 1841, coined by Sir Richard Owen, from Gk. deinos “terrible” + sauros “lizard,” of unknown origin.

As you can see from the word origin of dinosaur it meant terrible lizard. As you know lizards are reptiles and the word dinosaur literally meant fearful lizard.

Funk & Wagnalls Dictionary
Dinosaur – One of a group of extinct reptiles, widely distributed during the Mesozoic period and including the largest known land animals.

There is two things of importance that I would like to draw your attention to here. First that in the very definition of the word dinosaur they include the Mesozoic period. Remember the Mesozoic period is referring to the geologic column of time of which is completely unbiblical.

World English Dictionary
Mesozoic
— adj 1. of, denoting, or relating to an era of geological time that began 250 000 000 years ago with the Triassic period and lasted about 185 000 000 years until the end of the Cretaceous period

The second thing of importance in the definition of the word dinosaur is that it included the largest known land animals, and as we learned from Smith’s Bible dictionary the word tannin seems to refer to any great monster, whether of the land or the sea, being indeed more usually applied to some kind of serpent or reptile, but not exclusively restricted to that sense.
