“But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife; And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh.” (Mk 10:6-8)

From the beginning of the creation God, God made them male and female. You are either male or female and this is not by your choice but by God’s choice, for his purpose, for his pleasure, for his glory, and according to his desire. It is not according to your carnal mind and wicked devices.

“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.” (Rm 1:18-32)

It isn’t by accident that the homosexual community chose the rainbow as their emblem. They chose it because they which commit such things who knowing the judgment of God that they are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them. These are people who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. People who do not like to retain God in their knowledge so God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient. These are haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, and inventors of evil. This is why they are so bold, boastful, and love to declare gay pride why using the rainbow which is the token of the covenant of God’s promise between God and man and beast that he will not destroy the world by water after the judgment of God was poured out in the days of Noah. These lovers of self carry about and flaunt this token of God’s promise knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them as the scripture says.

However, you do not have to live in that lifestyle as God can set you free as also seen in scripture. “Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.” (1 Cor 6:9-11)

Come let us Grow Together: Television

Come let us Grow Together is a weekly series that deals with the many topical categories that exist within the Word of God. The purpose of this series is to grow in wisdom, knowledge, and understanding in things pertaining to God.

The Television is something that today is virtually accessible to everyone. However, the content that is on the Television whether through the commercials, the movie, sitcom, or whatever program you may be viewing can be extremely detrimental to your soul and your walk with Jesus Christ. The content on the Television is highly provocative, sensual, full of filthy language, and imagery. It is extremely difficult to find anything on the Television that isn’t full of filthy content. Even if you do find something that isn’t the commercials are. In this day and age with the accessibility to digital content in one form or another it virtually eliminates the topic of the Television or cable programming as it can be purchased from a variety of sources and used on a variety of devices. Even so “Abstain from all appearance of evil.” (1 Thess 5:22) You are in a spiritual battle fighting “against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” (Eph 6:12)

“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.” (1 Jn 2:15-17) “Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.” (2 Tim 2:19) “And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.” (Gal 5:24-25)

As Christians we too desire entertainment. However, if you don’t watch you will waste all your time pursuing entertainment versus following after Christ and reaching out to lost souls in need of salvation. “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” (Acts 1:8) The Holy Ghost gives you power! Power also to be his witness! “But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:” (1 Peter 3:15” This requires studying the Bible and understanding sound doctrine and then when asked questions concerning our faith being able to answer it. “Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.” (2 Cor 6:17-7:1)

These are commandments we are reading. This is not maybe I will and maybe I won’t. This is if you don’t you don’t love Jesus Christ and if you don’t love Jesus Christ you will not be saved and if you are not saved you are the enemies of God and will be cast into hellfire where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth. Are you trying to scare me? I’m trying to wake you up to truth! “If ye love me, keep my commandments.” (Jn 14:15) “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” (Mt 10:28) “It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.” (Heb 10:31) To believe otherwise is foolish!

C & C: Through Their Word

Connections and Comparisons is an ongoing weekly series that deals with many scriptures in the Bible, some of which are not commonly addressed. The purpose of this series is to examine the scriptures at hand comparing what is said and looking at the connections within.

John 17:20
20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;

Jesus, while praying, to his Father, makes a petition for not only his Apostles, “but for them also which shall believe on me through their word“. It is of the utmost importance that you realize that Jesus has let us know that it is through their word that we will believe on him. We are to be obedient to their word or we are not being obedient to Jesus Christ.

Speaking with the Jews who desired to know if Jesus was the Christ, Jesus spoke these words.

John 10:25-33
25 Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father’s name, they bear witness of me.
26 But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you.
27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.
30 I and my Father are one.
31 Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him.
32 Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?
33 The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.

Jesus told the Jews that “I and my Father are one” claiming to be God. Jesus was God manifested in the flesh. However, the Jews even after Jesus told them the answer to their question of whether he was the Christ saying, “I told you, and ye believed not” after hearing Jesus say, “I and my Father are one” “took up stones again to stone him” because they said it was “for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.”

Jesus made absolutely certain that the Apostles understood who he was.

Matthew 16:13-20
13 When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?
14 And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.
15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
20 Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ.

The Apostle Peter who by revelation of the Father made the proclamation that “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God” was given by Jesus “the keys of the kingdom of heaven“. The rest of the Apostles also understanding that Jesus was “the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

Jesus also made sure that the Apostles understood that he was the Holy Spirit.

John 14:15-18
15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

Jesus just revealed plainly to his Apostles that he is the Comforter, “Even the Spirit of truth” saying, “but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.” Jesus was the one with them and has now said to them, “I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.” It is Jesus that is the indwelling Spirit of God, the Comforter, “Even the Spirit of truth“. So the name of the Holy Spirit is Jesus as was just stated by Jesus.

Jesus also made sure that the Apostles understood that he was the Father manifested in the flesh.

John 14:8-11
8 Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us.
9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?
10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.
11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works’ sake.

Jesus also made sure that the Apostles understood that he had both manifested and declared the name of his Father

John 17:6-8
6 I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word.
7 Now they have known that all things whatsoever thou hast given me are of thee.
8 For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me.

John 17:26
26 And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.

Jesus also received his name by inheritance.

Hebrews 1:4-5
4 Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.
5 For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?

In the time of Jesus there were not any last names given to a person. Therefore Jesus receiving his name by inheritance, while also telling us that he was the Holy Spirit, while also telling us that I and my Father are one, while also telling us he that hath seen me hath seen the Father, while also telling us I have manifested thy name and I have declared unto them thy name, reveals to us that the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost is Jesus.

The Apostles had full understanding of this as Jesus opened their understanding to all the scriptures in the Old Testament concerning himself.

Luke 24:44-49
44 And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.
45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,
46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:
47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
48 And ye are witnesses of these things.
49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.

After Jesus opened their understanding of the scriptures pertaining to himself he told them to preach repentance and remission of sins in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem and that, “I send the promise of my Father upon you“. Jesus also tells them that after receiving the Holy Spirit which is the same as the Holy Ghost that the Holy Ghost would bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

John 14:26
26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Notice that Jesus said, concerning the Holy Ghost, that “the Father will send in my name” also said, “I send the promise of my Father upon you“. This is because Jesus is the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost as we have already seen in the scriptures above.

After the Holy Ghost was poured out upon the believers when the day of Pentecost had fully come the multitude that was there desired to know what was taking place because when the Holy Ghost is received by a believer they will speak with other tongues as the Spirit gives them the utterance. The Apostle Peter who was given the keys of the kingdom of heaven by Jesus Christ when it was revealed to him that Jesus was the Christ, answered the multitude concerning what was taking place as well as answering the most important question that all people who desire to be saved want to know, that is how to be born again.

Acts 2:36-39
36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.
37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

Remember that the Apostles had their understanding opened to all the scriptures concerning Jesus Christ and that now having received the Holy Ghost which Jesus said would bring to their “remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you” told everyone, including you and me, what they must do to be born again. “Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost“. The promise was to “even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

This was their word and Jesus said, “Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;” (Jn 17:20) The Apostles correctly understood “the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost” as Jesus revealed the name to them and to us. This name was Jesus and we see that through their word we now know how to be born again.

Through their word we continue to see that baptism was in the name of Jesus Christ.

Acts 8:14-16
14 Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:
15 Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:
16 (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)

Acts 10:44-48
44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.
45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.
46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,
47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?
48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.

The Apostle Paul who was not among the twelve Apostles also taught the same thing. We learn that the Apostle Paul received his understanding by revelation of Jesus Christ.

Galatians 1:11-12
11 But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man.
12 For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.

Acts 19:1-6
1 And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples,
2 He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost.
3 And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John’s baptism.
4 Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.
5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.

So it is of the utmost importance that you are obedient to what the Apostles taught which they had of God. To fulfill all that Jesus spoke of concerning salvation we, through their word, are told, “Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.” (Acts 2:38-39)

The Apostle Paul instructs us concerning baptism in Jesus name.

Romans 6:3-6
3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

Colossian 2:8-12
8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:
11 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:
12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.

The Apostle Peter again stresses to us that water baptism in Jesus name saves us.

1 Peter 3:20-21
20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.
21 The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:

This is their word!!

Ephesians 2:16-20
16 And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:
17 And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.
18 For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.
19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;
20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;

Jesus Christ was both a Prophet and an Apostle.

Acts 3:22-23
22 For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you.
23 And it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people.

Hebrews 3:1
1 Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;

To obey Jesus is to obey, through their word, what is commanded of us.

Salvation and Baptism

To be born again we must obey their word.

Acts 2:38-39
38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

Colossians 3:17
17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

Jeshurun is Waxen Fat

Deuteronomy 32:15-16
15 But Jeshurun waxed fat, and kicked: thou art waxen fat, thou art grown thick, thou art covered with fatness; then he forsook God which made him, and lightly esteemed the Rock of his salvation.
16 They provoked him to jealousy with strange gods, with abominations provoked they him to anger.

Jeshurun is a symbolical name for Israel. This song of Moses that God gave to him was to be a prophetic witness against the children of Israel for their forsaking the Law of Moses and turning their back on God who brought them out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm, with plagues, and mighty wonders in the sight of their eyes.

Deuteronomy 32:28-44
28 For they are a nation void of counsel, neither is there any understanding in them.
29 O that they were wise, that they understood this, that they would consider their latter end!
30 How should one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight, except their Rock had sold them, and the LORD had shut them up?
31 For their rock is not as our Rock, even our enemies themselves being judges.
32 For their vine is of the vine of Sodom, and of the fields of Gomorrah: their grapes are grapes of gall, their clusters are bitter:
33 Their wine is the poison of dragons, and the cruel venom of asps.
34 Is not this laid up in store with me, and sealed up among my treasures?
35 To me belongeth vengeance, and recompence; their foot shall slide in due time: for the day of their calamity is at hand, and the things that shall come upon them make haste.
36 For the LORD shall judge his people, and repent himself for his servants, when he seeth that their power is gone, and there is none shut up, or left.
37 And he shall say, Where are their gods, their rock in whom they trusted,
38 Which did eat the fat of their sacrifices, and drank the wine of their drink offerings? let them rise up and help you, and be your protection.
39 See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god with me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of my hand.
40 For I lift up my hand to heaven, and say, I live for ever.
41 If I whet my glittering sword, and mine hand take hold on judgment; I will render vengeance to mine enemies, and will reward them that hate me.
42 I will make mine arrows drunk with blood, and my sword shall devour flesh; and that with the blood of the slain and of the captives, from the beginning of revenges upon the enemy.
43 Rejoice, O ye nations, with his people: for he will avenge the blood of his servants, and will render vengeance to his adversaries, and will be merciful unto his land, and to his people.
44 And Moses came and spake all the words of this song in the ears of the people, he, and Hoshea the son of Nun.

At verse 43 we learn of the Gentiles being called by God and that He will be merciful unto his land, and to his people. Both Jew and Gentile becoming one people in God which is through Jesus Christ our Lord. Remember this song was given to Moses before the children of Israel passed over Jordan into the land of Canaan. It was a testimony against the children of Israel that once they took the land they would forget their God who delivered them from Egypt and who had given them all this land. Jeshurun waxed fat.

Isaiah 3:1-15
1 For, behold, the Lord, the LORD of hosts, doth take away from Jerusalem and from Judah the stay and the staff, the whole stay of bread, and the whole stay of water,
2 The mighty man, and the man of war, the judge, and the prophet, and the prudent, and the ancient,
3 The captain of fifty, and the honourable man, and the counsellor, and the cunning artificer, and the eloquent orator.
4 And I will give children to be their princes, and babes shall rule over them.
5 And the people shall be oppressed, every one by another, and every one by his neighbour: the child shall behave himself proudly against the ancient, and the base against the honourable.
6 When a man shall take hold of his brother of the house of his father, saying, Thou hast clothing, be thou our ruler, and let this ruin be under thy hand:
7 In that day shall he swear, saying, I will not be an healer; for in my house is neither bread nor clothing: make me not a ruler of the people.
8 For Jerusalem is ruined, and Judah is fallen: because their tongue and their doings are against the LORD, to provoke the eyes of his glory.
9 The shew of their countenance doth witness against them; and they declare their sin as Sodom, they hide it not. Woe unto their soul! for they have rewarded evil unto themselves.
10 Say ye to the righteous, that it shall be well with him: for they shall eat the fruit of their doings.
11 Woe unto the wicked! it shall be ill with him: for the reward of his hands shall be given him.
12 As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths.
13 The LORD standeth up to plead, and standeth to judge the people.
14 The LORD will enter into judgment with the ancients of his people, and the princes thereof: for ye have eaten up the vineyard; the spoil of the poor is in your houses.
15 What mean ye that ye beat my people to pieces, and grind the faces of the poor? saith the Lord GOD of hosts.

Jeshurun waxed fat and defiled and polluted the Lord’s vineyard. Declaring their sins even as Sodom did. Their princes and leaders caused them to err and follow after other gods. Their tongues and their doings provoked the Lord. The ancients of his people and the princes were guilty of eaten up the Lord’s vineyard; spoiling the poor and taking their spoil into their houses.

Isaiah 5:1-7
1 Now will I sing to my wellbeloved a song of my beloved touching his vineyard. My wellbeloved hath a vineyard in a very fruitful hill:
2 And he fenced it, and gathered out the stones thereof, and planted it with the choicest vine, and built a tower in the midst of it, and also made a winepress therein: and he looked that it should bring forth grapes, and it brought forth wild grapes.
3 And now, O inhabitants of Jerusalem, and men of Judah, judge, I pray you, betwixt me and my vineyard.
4 What could have been done more to my vineyard, that I have not done in it? wherefore, when I looked that it should bring forth grapes, brought it forth wild grapes?
5 And now go to; I will tell you what I will do to my vineyard: I will take away the hedge thereof, and it shall be eaten up; and break down the wall thereof, and it shall be trodden down:
6 And I will lay it waste: it shall not be pruned, nor digged; but there shall come up briers and thorns: I will also command the clouds that they rain no rain upon it.
7 For the vineyard of the LORD of hosts is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah his pleasant plant: and he looked for judgment, but behold oppression; for righteousness, but behold a cry.

Deuteronomy 32:19-24
19 And when the LORD saw it, he abhorred them, because of the provoking of his sons, and of his daughters.
20 And he said, I will hide my face from them, I will see what their end shall be: for they are a very froward generation, children in whom is no faith.
21 They have moved me to jealousy with that which is not God; they have provoked me to anger with their vanities: and I will move them to jealousy with those which are not a people; I will provoke them to anger with a foolish nation.
22 For a fire is kindled in mine anger, and shall burn unto the lowest hell, and shall consume the earth with her increase, and set on fire the foundations of the mountains.
23 I will heap mischiefs upon them; I will spend mine arrows upon them.
24 They shall be burnt with hunger, and devoured with burning heat, and with bitter destruction: I will also send the teeth of beasts upon them, with the poison of serpents of the dust.

In verse 21 in the song of Moses God has spoken that in his jealousy because of the children of Israel’s idol worship that they had provoked him to anger. In return God is going to provoke them to anger with a foolish nation this being the gentiles which would take place through Jesus Christ our Lord. At verse 43 in the song of Moses above we also saw the calling of the gentiles when the Lord said, “Rejoice, O ye nations, with his people”. We see through God the calling for Israel’s destruction while leaving a remnant.

Isaiah 65:1-9
1 I am sought of them that asked not for me; I am found of them that sought me not: I said, Behold me, behold me, unto a nation that was not called by my name.
2 I have spread out my hands all the day unto a rebellious people, which walketh in a way that was not good, after their own thoughts;
3 A people that provoketh me to anger continually to my face; that sacrificeth in gardens, and burneth incense upon altars of brick;
4 Which remain among the graves, and lodge in the monuments, which eat swine’s flesh, and broth of abominable things is in their vessels;
5 Which say, Stand by thyself, come not near to me; for I am holier than thou. These are a smoke in my nose, a fire that burneth all the day.
6 Behold, it is written before me: I will not keep silence, but will recompense, even recompense into their bosom,
7 Your iniquities, and the iniquities of your fathers together, saith the LORD, which have burned incense upon the mountains, and blasphemed me upon the hills: therefore will I measure their former work into their bosom.
8 Thus saith the LORD, As the new wine is found in the cluster, and one saith, Destroy it not; for a blessing is in it: so will I do for my servants’ sakes, that I may not destroy them all.
9 And I will bring forth a seed out of Jacob, and out of Judah an inheritor of my mountains: and mine elect shall inherit it, and my servants shall dwell there.

In verses 1 and 2 we see God turning to the gentiles a nation that didn’t seek for God turned to God while at the same time God said of the children of Israel that he had spread out his hands all the day unto a rebellious people, which walked after their own thoughts. At verses 6 and 7 God says, “Behold, it is written before me: I will not keep silence, but will recompense, even recompense into their bosom, Your iniquities, and the iniquities of your fathers together”. This was written in the song of Moses of their turning away from God and his judgment against them for it. While also prophesying of turning to the gentiles because of Israel’s wickedness of which God testified of them in the song of Moses, For their vine is of the vine of Sodom, and of the fields of Gomorrah: their grapes are grapes of gall, their clusters are bitter: Their wine is the poison of dragons, and the cruel venom of asps. And again, in verse 9 of Isaiah chapter 3 saying, the shew of their countenance doth witness against them; and they declare their sin as Sodom, they hide it not. Woe unto their soul! Then we see the Lord with his great grace and mercy give them hope along with the gentiles through Jesus Christ saying, Thus saith the LORD, As the new wine is found in the cluster, and one saith, Destroy it not; for a blessing is in it: so will I do for my servants’ sakes, that I may not destroy them all. And I will bring forth a seed out of Jacob, and out of Judah an inheritor of my mountains: and mine elect shall inherit it, and my servants shall dwell there. This seed out of Jacob is Jesus Christ of the tribe of Judah and the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

Romans 9:27-32
27 Esaias also crieth concerning Israel, Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, a remnant shall be saved:
28 For he will finish the work, and cut it short in righteousness: because a short work will the Lord make upon the earth.
29 And as Esaias said before, Except the Lord of Sabaoth had left us a seed, we had been as Sodoma, and been made like unto Gomorrha.
30 What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, which followed not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith.
31 But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness.
32 Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone;

As God said in his mercy, And I will bring forth a seed out of Jacob, and out of Judah an inheritor of my mountains: and mine elect shall inherit it, and my servants shall dwell there. We see from verses 27 through 29 from Romans speaking of what Isaiah prophesied from Isaiah 65:8-9 and then revealing to us how the children of Israel stumbled at that stumblingstone of which is Jesus Christ. They stumbled because they followed after the law of righteousness not by faith but as it were by the works of the law of which no flesh can be justified because by the law is the knowledge of sin.

Romans 3:19-23
19 Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.
20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
21 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;
22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:
23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

They stumbled at that stumblingstone. For “if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law. But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.” (Gal 3:21-22) “But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith. And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.” (Gal 3:11-12)

Matthew 21:33-46
33 Hear another parable: There was a certain householder, which planted a vineyard, and hedged it round about, and digged a winepress in it, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country:
34 And when the time of the fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the husbandmen, that they might receive the fruits of it.
35 And the husbandmen took his servants, and beat one, and killed another, and stoned another.
36 Again, he sent other servants more than the first: and they did unto them likewise.
37 But last of all he sent unto them his son, saying, They will reverence my son.
38 But when the husbandmen saw the son, they said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and let us seize on his inheritance.
39 And they caught him, and cast him out of the vineyard, and slew him.
40 When the lord therefore of the vineyard cometh, what will he do unto those husbandmen?
41 They say unto him, He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out his vineyard unto other husbandmen, which shall render him the fruits in their seasons.
42 Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord’s doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?
43 Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.
44 And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.
45 And when the chief priests and Pharisees had heard his parables, they perceived that he spake of them.
46 But when they sought to lay hands on him, they feared the multitude, because they took him for a prophet.

In this parable we also learn that the Jews were jealous and envious of Jesus, of whom was the Son that they were going to slay, to seize on his inheritance. At verse 43 Jesus says, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof. This would be the nation of the gentiles as prophesied throughout the Old Testament and by Jesus Christ. This was the stumblingstone, the stone the builders rejected, the same becoming the head of the corner. Jesus Christ the chief corner stone. And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.

1 Peter 2:4-10
4 To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious,
5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
6 Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.
7 Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,
8 And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.
9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

The kingdom of God taken away from the natural seed of Israel and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof. The gentiles a people that sought him not was found of him which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

Exodus 19:5-8
5 Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine:
6 And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel.
7 And Moses came and called for the elders of the people, and laid before their faces all these words which the LORD commanded him.
8 And all the people answered together, and said, All that the LORD hath spoken we will do. And Moses returned the words of the people unto the LORD.

The children of Israel didn’t keep the covenant of the Lord as God himself testified through the song of Moses that they wouldn’t but rather Jeshurun waxed fat and the kingdom was taken from them and given to a nation producing the fruits thereof. The Lord said if you keep my covenant then “ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people” they would “be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation”. This is the same thing the Apostle Peter has spoken above concerning, Jesus Christ being “a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.” Those that are obedient to Jesus Christ not stumbling at the stumbling stone or the word these have entered into the inheritance promised to Abraham saying, “Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ” and “ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light”. Even as prophesied in the song of Moses and the parable of the vineyard spoken by Jesus Christ above.

Romans 9:3-12
3 For I could wish that myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh:
4 Who are Israelites; to whom pertaineth the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of God, and the promises;
5 Whose are the fathers, and of whom as concerning the flesh Christ came, who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen.
6 Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel:
7 Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called.
8 That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.
9 For this is the word of promise, At this time will I come, and Sara shall have a son.
10 And not only this; but when Rebecca also had conceived by one, even by our father Isaac;
11 (For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth😉
12 It was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger.

Jeshurun waxed fat and missed the time of their visitation but as many as received him became the sons of God. Jesus bearing them witness.

Luke 19:41-44
41 And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it,
42 Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes.
43 For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side,
44 And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.

John 5:36-47
36 But I have greater witness than that of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me.
37 And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape.
38 And ye have not his word abiding in you: for whom he hath sent, him ye believe not.
39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.
40 And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.
41 I receive not honour from men.
42 But I know you, that ye have not the love of God in you.
43 I am come in my Father’s name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.
44 How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh from God only?
45 Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuseth you, even Moses, in whom ye trust.
46 For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me.
47 But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?

John 1:10-13
10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

Even as the Apostle Paul spoke “Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect” for “the children of the promise are counted for the seed.”

Galatians 3:16-18
16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.
17 And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect.
18 For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise.

Even as the Apostle Paul said, “For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel: Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called. That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.” ” For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise.”

John 15:1-11
1 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.
2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.
3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.
4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.
7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
8 Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.
9 As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.
10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.
11 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.

James 5:7
7 Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.

Hebrews 4:6-11
6 Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:
7 Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.
8 For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.
9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.
10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.
11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

Jeshurun is Waxen Fat and the kingdom was taken from them and given to a nation producing the fruits thereof.

Come let us Grow Together: Sports

Come let us Grow Together is a weekly series that deals with the many topical categories that exist within the Word of God. The purpose of this series is to grow in wisdom, knowledge and understanding in things pertaining to God.

“Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.” (2 Cor 6:14-7:1)

We as the sons and daughters of the Father and “the temple of the living God” are told as “Having therefore these promises”, referring to the promises in Christ Jesus our Lord and “heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him”, (Rm 8:17) that we are to “cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit” and to also be “perfecting holiness in the fear of God.” We as the sons and daughters of the Father are to walk in Christ. Rooted and built up in Christ. Established in the faith of the gospel teaching of Jesus Christ abounding in the faith with all thanksgiving even as we have been taught by the Word of God throughout the New Testament.

Sports are not only very time consuming whether you are playing them or only watching them but sports are of the world of which we are told “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.” (1 Jn 2:15-17) Sports and competition within them evoke many spirits, attitudes, and ungodly behavior. The clothing worn in the majority of sports are very ungodly and we as the sons and daughters of the Father were told to “cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.”

“Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. Abstain from all appearance of evil. And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Thes 5:21-23) Many sports themselves are all about sexuality and sensuality. They not only have completely inappropriate clothing but the very acts of which they are doing are ungodly! Are you still listening to me? Hear it again, “Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.”

“And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.” (1 Jn 2:3-6)

Let their table become a snare before them: and that which should have been for their welfare, let it become a trap. Let their eyes be darkened, that they see not; and make their loins continually to shake. Pour out thine indignation upon them, and let thy wrathful anger take hold of them. Psa 69:22-24

C & C: The Spring Board of Life! Take the Dive!

Connections and Comparisons is an ongoing weekly series that deals with many scriptures in the Bible, some of which are not commonly addressed. The purpose of this series is to examine the scriptures at hand comparing what is said and looking at the connections within.

The spring board of life is believing that Jesus is the Son of God and that he was put to death for the sins of the world. Taking the dive is having faith to believe that you will receive everlasting life when you dive into the water. The water is the receiving of the Holy Ghost which is also known as the Spirit of life. So, what are you waiting for? Take the dive.

You can believe that Jesus is the Son of God and never take the dive into the water. You can climb onto the diving board and refuse to exercise your faith and dive into the water. Whether out of fear or simply because you do not want to change your lifestyle.

If it is out of fear that you refuse to take the dive then I ask what is the fear you are having? God has promised to give his Spirit to anyone that obeys him. “And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.” (Acts 5:32) However to obey him you must understand how to take the dive. You don’t want to take the dive only to find out that you never landed in the water. How can this be? You didn’t obey him even though you thought you did because you were taught incorrectly. If the reason you haven’t taken the dive is because you don’t want to change your lifestyle then I ask you what is your soul worth to you? “For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?” (Mt 16:26)

John 7:37-39
37 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.
38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

So how do you know when you take the dive from the spring board of life whether or not you landed in the Holy Ghost water? You must apply the scriptures. What do the scriptures teach concerning this.

Acts 2:1-4
1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

When these people dove off the spring board of life they landed in the Holy Ghost water. How do we know. They “began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.” This is how it was prophesied to come. “For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people. To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.” (Isa 28:11-12) Are you one that will not hear? What about when those of Samaria received the Holy Ghost? Did they get it automatically because they were believers in Jesus Christ? What does the scriptures teach about it?

Acts 8:12-17
12 But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.
13 Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done.
14 Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:
15 Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:
16 (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)
17 Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.

The scriptures show us that the people even though they had believed the preaching of Jesus Christ, had accepted that Jesus Christ was the Son of God, repented of their sins and “were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus”, that these believers still didn’t have the Holy Ghost “For as yet he was fallen upon none of them”. These believers received the Holy Ghost when the Apostles Peter and John “laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.”

Simon the sorcerer “himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done”. However, even after wondering at all “the miracles and signs which were done” he didn’t offer any money to have this power also but when he saw that the believers received the Holy Ghost he offered money to buy this gift so that he could make gain off of it and go about laying hands on people that they may receive this free gift. So what did he see? And why was this even greater than “the miracles and signs which were done” insomuch as he offered money for having this power granted to him to make merchandise off of others by selling them the free gift of the Holy Ghost? The answer for what he saw was given already in Acts 2 above “And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.” Simon had to have seen the people receive the gift of the Holy Ghost evidenced by speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance because had he not seen anything outwardly taking place after previously “beholding the miracles and signs which were done” and yet not offering money that he might be able to do the same, then it had to be something else. So we know what he saw and he knew this gift of the Holy Ghost was beyond “the miracles and signs which were done” that he had already witnessed.

There are several accounts that show us in the Book of Acts people receiving the Holy Ghost and that when they did they spoke with other tongues as the Spirit gave them the utterance. We will look at those scriptures as well. But first let us look at what Simon said via the scriptures.

Acts 8:18-24
18 And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles’ hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money,
19 Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost.
20 But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.
21 Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God.
22 Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee.
23 For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity.
24 Then answered Simon, and said, Pray ye to the Lord for me, that none of these things which ye have spoken come upon me.

Let us look at another example of people who did not receive the Holy Ghost just because they were believers in Jesus Christ as the Son of God.

Acts 19:1-6
1 And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples,
2 He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost.
3 And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John’s baptism.
4 Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.
5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.

Notice carefully the question the Apostle Paul asks? “Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed?” This question would never have been asked if you received the Holy Ghost just because you believe in Jesus Christ as your personal savior. These disciples said, “We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost.” Then take careful attention and listen to what the Apostle Paul asks them. “Unto what then were ye baptized?” Why would he ask them this question? Remember the Apostle Paul received the gospel teaching directly by Jesus Christ himself and did not learn it of men. He did not learn the teaching of Jesus Christ from the other Apostles. Jesus Christ revealed to the Apostle Paul by direct revelation the gospel teaching of Jesus Christ. “But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb, and called me by his grace, To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood: Neither went I up to Jerusalem to them which were apostles before me; but I went into Arabia, and returned again unto Damascus.” (Gal 1:15-17) So why did the Apostle Paul ask these believers who had never heard of the Holy Ghost this question? “Unto what then were ye baptized?” The Apostle Paul knew that to be born again you had to do as the Apostle Peter instructed when the Holy Ghost was poured out. He knew this by revelation of God and not by man. This is what the Apostle Peter said you had to do in order to be born again. “Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” (Acts 2:38) So the reason that Apostle Paul asked the question to the believers who had never even heard if there were any Holy Ghost “Unto what then were ye baptized” was that he understood that you had to “Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” The Apostle Paul then teaches the believers of Jesus Christ and “When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.” So the believers even after being baptized in Jesus name did not receive the gift of the Holy Ghost until the Apostle “Paul had laid his hands upon them” and when the Holy Ghost came upon them “they spake with tongues, and prophesied.”

Make sure that when you get on the spring board of life and take the dive that you land in the Holy Ghost water because you can take the dive and land somewhere else if you believe that you have received the Holy Ghost and haven’t spoke with other tongues as the Spirit gives the utterance as we can now see from scriptures that the Holy Ghost only comes into a person when it is evidenced by the speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives the utterance. “But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.” (Rm 8:9)

John 4:5-14
5 Then cometh he to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.
6 Now Jacob’s well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour.
7 There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink.
8 (For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.)
9 Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.
10 Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.
11 The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?
12 Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?
13 Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:
14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

The spring board of life and taking the dive is not a one time experience nor is it intended to be.

Acts 4:19-31
19 But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye.
20 For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.
21 So when they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding nothing how they might punish them, because of the people: for all men glorified God for that which was done.
22 For the man was above forty years old, on whom this miracle of healing was shewed.
23 And being let go, they went to their own company, and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said unto them.
24 And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, Lord, thou art God, which hast made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is:
25 Who by the mouth of thy servant David hast said, Why did the heathen rage, and the people imagine vain things?
26 The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and against his Christ.
27 For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together,
28 For to do whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel determined before to be done.
29 And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word,
30 By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus.
31 And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.

We know that the Apostle Peter and John already received the Holy Ghost when the day of Pentecost had fully come when the Holy Ghost was first poured out upon the believers. We can also see that the company of the Apostles Peter and John from their prayer were “thy servants” of Jesus Christ and so we know when “they were all filled with the Holy Ghost” that they were refilled with the Holy Ghost and spoke with tongues as the Spirit gave them the utterance.

Being renewed in the Holy Ghost is something we are instructed to do.

Titus 3:4-5
4 But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,
5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

We are saved “by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;“. You can’t renew the Holy Ghost unless you first have the Holy Ghost of which we have seen only comes with the evidence of speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives the utterance. This also reveals to you that you can’t have any of the gifts of the Holy Ghost if you never received it in the first place. Which also shows you that divers kinds of tongues, which is a gift of the Holy Ghost, is not the same as receiving the Holy Ghost which will always be evidenced by the speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives the utterance and we are saved not only “by the washing of regeneration” but also by the “renewing of the Holy Ghost“.

Jude 1:17-21
17 But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ;
18 How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts.
19 These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit.
20 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,
21 Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

Jude who was addressing “…them that are sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ, and called” (Jude 1:1) which would be people who had already partook of being born again which also refers to the Holy Ghost as “them that are sanctified by God the Father” would be people who had received the Holy Ghost as it is by the Holy Ghost we are sanctified. “That I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Ghost.” (Rm 15:16) So when he says, “But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost” he is speaking to those who “are sanctified by God”. Unless you believe that all these believers had quit praying and he was only encouraging them to start praying again then Jude was meaning to build up yourselves by praying in the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gave them the utterance. It is highly improbable to believe the saints he was addressing had quit praying since the letter was sent to those “preserved in Jesus Christ, and called” (Jude 1:1).

Romans 8:26-27
26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

The Apostle Paul is here referring to praying in the Holy Ghost “for we know not what we should pray for as we ought”. So the Holy Ghost within us “maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.”

It’s time to get on the spring board of life and take the dive the correct way!

Come let us Grow Together: What does it mean to Speak in Tongues

The full title of this message is, Come let us Grow Together: What does it mean to Speak in Tongues and How do you Know if that Person is Really and Truly Speaking in Tongues and not Just Trying to Deceive You?  I thought the title was to long for the title bar.

Come let us Grow Together is a weekly series that deals with the many topical categories that exist within the Word of God. The purpose of this series is to grow in wisdom, knowledge, and understanding in things pertaining to God.

What is meant by speaking in tongues is that God will speak through you in another language that you do not know. This takes place as the Spirit gives the utterance. When you speak with other tongues you can quench it. Meaning to stop yourself from speaking. We are told in the scriptures not to do this. “Quench not the Spirit.” (1 Thess 5:19) The Apostle Paul said, “I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all:” (1 Cor 14:18) And he also said “Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.” (1 Cor 13:1) So we learn here that there are many languages that God can use when someone either receives the Holy Spirit for the first time, or whether that person is giving thanks to God in tongues, or whether that person is in intercessory prayer speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives the utterance, or whether the gift of the Spirit known as divers kinds of tongues is being used; that this language could be a language that was spoken on our Earth or that of Angels. However if the gift of divers kinds of tongues is being used this is only to be done with the gift of interpretation of tongues. Whether that be the same person who spoke with the gift of divers kinds of tongues or another that interprets it. But remember that you can not use the gift of divers kinds of tongues if you have never first received the gift of the Holy Spirit of which will always come with the evidence of speaking with other tongues as we see throughout the scriptures. (Isa 28:11-12) (Acts 2:1-4) (Acts 8:14-19) (Acts 10:44-48) (Acts 19:1-6) (1 Cor 14:21)

So, how do you know if that person is really speaking in tongues and not just trying to deceive you? There are several answers here. We are told in scripture “Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.” (1 Jn 4:1-3)

So we need to try the spirit to see if it be of God. What manner of fruit is the person bearing that is speaking with other tongues? Are they producing good fruit? “For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes. A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.” (Lk 6:43-45)

If this is a person that is bringing forth a tongue that is being interpreted, if their word does not come to pass either the interpreter was wrong or both the person speaking in divers kinds of tongues and the interpreter is wrong. So does the interpretation align to the Word of God? Because God and His Word are inseparable. The Word of God is always taken over someone who is giving a prophecy or the interpretation of an unknown tongue.

There is also a gift of the Spirit known as the gift of discernment. Again you must first have the Holy Spirit before you can operate in one of the gifts of the Spirit. But this gift of discernment can reveal to you whether this is of God or not. There is also the gift of knowledge that can reveal to a person whether this is of God or not. However, it is imperative to make sure that you understand that when someone receives the Holy Ghost or the Holy Spirit that they will always speak with other tongues as the Spirit gives the utterance and this is not meant for an interpretation. This is the person receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost: everlasting life. The nine gifts of the Holy Ghost are gifts that are used to edify the body of Christ after that a person has first received the Holy Ghost. The gifts of the Spirit are to edify the body of Christ. However, this does not mean that God will not correct or chastise his people and use a spoken word to do so or a tongue and interpretation of the tongue to do so. Also the Pastor of the Church is God’s chosen man to shepherd his flock. So if the Pastor be of God and thus filled with the Spirit of God the shepherd will be looking out for his flock. We are to “Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.” (Heb 13:17) The Pastor of the Church will also be trying the spirit to see if it is of God and if he does not believe it to be true will inform the person and the Church. However, if the Pastor makes a mistake in doing this then that is between him and God. The person with the message has fulfilled what God gave to them and if they are cut off then they are to obey the Pastor even if it is to the detriment of the Church.

It is of the utmost importance that you follow after the plan of Salvation and go to a Church that is teaching the true plan of Salvation that is given to us and was laid out for us throughout the book of Acts as this was where we learned of the actions of the Apostles and were taught the plan of Salvation for all of mankind. The Epistles to the Churches that are after the book of Acts are written to already established Churches who have already been obedient to the plan of Salvation and are written to show the Christian how we are to live a holy life and also to explain to us what has taken place after we have been saved. The plan of salvation is not found in the epistles to the Churches but in the book of Acts, and the epistles elaborate to the Church what Jesus Christ has done for us and how that once you have become born again what has taken place and what we are to do. The plan of Salvation was given in Acts chapter 2 where the Holy Ghost was first poured out upon the believers and the message of what we are to do to become born again is given to us in this same chapter.

“Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ. Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation. Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.” (Acts 2:36-41)

C & C: The devil’s Slave Trade

Connections and Comparisons is an ongoing weekly series that deals with many scriptures in the Bible, some of which are not commonly addressed. The purpose of this series is to examine the scriptures at hand comparing what is said and looking at the connections within.

Ezekiel 18:4
4 Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.

When Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden they became the children of disobedience and thus the devil “had the power of death” (Heb 2:14) over mankind. The devil’s Slave Trade had begun and mankind was in need of a Savior which would be Jesus the Christ. “And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life: And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.” (Gen 3:14-15)

Ezekiel 18:20-24
20 The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.
21 But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die.
22 All his transgressions that he hath committed, they shall not be mentioned unto him: in his righteousness that he hath done he shall live.
23 Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord GOD: and not that he should return from his ways, and live?
24 But when the righteous turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and doeth according to all the abominations that the wicked man doeth, shall he live? All his righteousness that he hath done shall not be mentioned: in his trespass that he hath trespassed, and in his sin that he hath sinned, in them shall he die.

Even though Jesus destroyed “him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;” (Heb 2:14) the law of sin and death still applies!!

Romans 6:14-18
14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.
16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.
18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.

However, if “ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you” then you are “then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness“. So Jesus Christ made a way for all of mankind to be free and destroyed The devil’s Slave Trade. However, the soul that sins will still die as was stated, “Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

Romans 8:1-2
1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

The devil’s Slave Trade destroyed but the soul that sins will still surely die!!

2 Corinthians 4:4-7
4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
5 For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake.
6 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

The devil still has the power to blind “the minds of them which believe not” because he is the father of the children of disobedience!! As promised in the Garden of Eden the prophecy spoken of God saying to the serpent the devil “And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel” (Gen 3:15) was fulfilled in Jesus the Christ. Jesus was this seed of the woman, the woman being the virgin Mary, and this seed, Jesus the Christ, crushed the head of the devil upon his death at the cross of calvary where Jesus then descended into the bowels of the Earth and took back the power the devil had over mankind, that being death!! The devil’s Slave Trade was destroyed!!

Luke 4:18-19
18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

Hebrews 2:14-18
14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;
15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
16 For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham.
17 Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.
18 For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.

Revelation 1:17-18
17 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:
18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

The devil’s Slave Trade destroyed!!

Ephesians 4:8-10
8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.
9 (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?
10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)

So how can you become free of the law of sin and death since The devil’s Slave Trade is destroyed?

John 3_5 and Acts2_38 equals salvation

John 3:1-7
1 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:
2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.
3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born?
5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

Several things to discuss here. First off this born again process is not a fleshly birth but a spiritual birth as stated in verse 6. Also it is very important to remember that these instructions that were given here are instructions that were given just 7 verses prior to this scripture: 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Yet people will cling to verse 16 and claim to be born again while ignoring everything else Jesus spoke on. For instance: Did Jesus not just tell Nicodemus, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God? Did Jesus not also tell us except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. Did Jesus not also tell us He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved.

God did so love the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. That is why we need to follow after the instructions that Jesus gave to us. Not just some of it. All scripture is given by inspiration of God. (2 Tim 3:16)

To fulfill being born of water you must be baptized as Jesus said, he that believeth and is baptized shall be saved.

Matthew 28:18-20
18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Notice Jesus said, teach all nations, baptizing them, and teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you. Not just some things. But all things. For all scripture is given by inspiration of God. (2 Tim 3:16)

So here Jesus tells us to baptize them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. So what is the name?

Jesus tells us the name and we are also told that Jesus received His name by inheritance.

Hebrews 1:4
4 Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.

John 5:43a
43 I am come in my Father’s name, and ye receive me not:

John 17:6, 26
6 I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word.
26 And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.

John 14:16-18, 26
16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Luke 24:45-49
45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,
46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:
47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
48 And ye are witnesses of these things.
49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.

Jesus opened their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, and told them what to speak. He told them to preach repentance and remission of sins in His name. And they did!!! He also told them to go to Jerusalem and wait for the promise of the Holy Ghost. They did!!!!

So when the Holy Ghost was poured out as the Lord had promised, the Apostles told everyone, including you and me, what they needed to do in order to obtain salvation.

Notice that the Apostle Peter, preached to them exactly what the Lord told them.

38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

(Lk 24:47 repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.)

(Jn 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.)

The Apostle Peter continues……

39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

The Plan of Salvation for every generation! Remember: The Holy Ghost will come into you with the evidence of speaking in another tongue as the Spirit gives the utterance. (Acts 2:4)

That is enough to tell you that the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost was Jesus. The Apostles did exactly what the Lord told them to do. They preached repentance and remission of sins in His name, with the understanding that the Lord had just given to them, thus fulfilling baptizing everyone in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.

Jesus prayed saying, “Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;” (Jn 17:20)

To follow what Jesus taught you must obey what “their word” was and their word as we have seen was exactly what Jesus told them to say and to do!!

Colossians 3:17
17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

This would include water baptism as we have already seen!! Now we are told explicitly “whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus“.

Come let us Grow Together is a weekly series that deals with the many topical categories that exist within the Word of God. The purpose of this series is to grow in wisdom, knowledge, and understanding in things pertaining to God.

Who or what are you placing before your God? Is your god the worship of mother earth? Is your god that of sustainability? Is your god communism? Socialism? That of the good of the group over the individual rights endowed by the one and only true Creator? Do you worship collectivism over individualism? Do you worship democracy over the republic?

Are you crying out for the Beast over the Christ? Is your god your belly? Is your god so small that it can’t even sustain it’s own creation? Is your god so little that it must steal from others to sustain the rest of the populace? Do you worship the elite? Do you understand your god’s true desire? Do you even know who your god is?

Do you realize that your god is satan? Do you realize the elite’s dream of a populace reduction of around 95% of the population is never going to come to pass? Do you realize that every time a dictator rises up out of these communistic ideologies that the end result is that those who dissent are killed by the tens of millions? Do you realize that the anti-christ is actually going to become the leader of this globalist movement that you worship? That you will never receive what you crave or desire because your dreams will be shattered because the true Creator of the Universe already saw the end from the beginning and declared it? “Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:” (Isa 46:9-10)

“Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying, Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us. He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision. Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure. Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion. I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee. Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession. Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel. Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth. Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.” (Psa 2:1-12)

“And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy. And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority. And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast. And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him? And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months. And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven. And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations. And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. If any man have an ear, let him hear.” (Rev 13:1-9)

“And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS. And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God; That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great. And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army. And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone. And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh.” (Rev 19:11-21)

Luke 13:23-29
23 Then said one unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved? And he said unto them,

26 Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets.
27 But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity.
28 There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out.
29 And they shall come from the east, and from the west, and from the north, and from the south, and shall sit down in the kingdom of God.

Strive to enter in at the strait gate! There are many obstacles standing close about this narrow way and few there be that find it. Hear what Jesus the Master is saying! This is a strait gate and you must strive to enter in. To strive is to struggle! You are going to have to struggle and fight a good warfare to enter in at this gate and to remain on this path! Other wise Jesus has plainly said, “When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are: Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets. But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out.” Do you hear it? These were people who claimed to be followers of Christ! These were people who claimed to be Christians! These were people who claimed Christianity! They cried out to Jesus saying, “We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets.” However, these people were liars! They refused to obey the teachings of Jesus Christ! Applying only what verses of scripture they liked or wanted to believe! Making excuses as to why they didn’t have to apply every scripture at all times! Living one way on their jobs and another at the Church! Hypocrites playing games with their souls and that of others with there so called conflicting testimony of Jesus Christ while at the same time acting just like the world that was around them as they were really of the world and not of Jesus Christ as he said, “I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity.”

James 3:10-12
10 Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.
11 Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter?
12 Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh.

You are either a follower of Jesus Christ or a follower of satan! There isn’t any other options! Followers of Christ depart from iniquity! Followers of Christ pick up their crosses daily and follow after him! Followers of Christ produce good fruit! Followers of Christ are soul winners! Followers of Christ are busy about the Master’s business! Followers of Christ keep their whole body, soul, and spirit under subjection to Jesus Chris!

You are either gathering in for Jesus Christ or you are scattering abroad! You can’t be both!! You are either a child of Christ or a child of the devil! Which one are you? Are you striving to enter in at the strait gate? Are you just putting on a good show? You may fool your friends and even one another but you are not fooling the Righteous King of Glory who is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart!

2 Timothy 2:19-22
19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.
21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.
22 Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

Luke 9:23-25
23 And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.
24 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.
25 For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away?

Luke 6:43-49
43 For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
44 For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes.

Proverbs 11:30
30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.

James 1:5-8
5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.
8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

Luke 2:46-49
46 And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions.

John 3:34-35

2 Corinthians 4:3-5
3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:

5 For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake.

Hebrews 4:11-13
