Come let us Grow Together: Walk in Wisdom Toward them that are Without

Come let us Grow Together is a weekly series that deals with the many topical categories that exist within the Word of God. The purpose of this series is to grow in wisdom, knowledge, and understanding in things pertaining to God.

“Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time. Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.” (Col 4:5-6) “But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes. And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.” (2 Tim 2:23-26) While we also remain aware O’ God “And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.” (2 Cor 11:14-15) Let our labor of love flourish as the noonday and let the Water of Life flow forth and let our love of Christ prevail against any that would stand in our way in Jesus name I pray.

“Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin; That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God. For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries: Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you: Who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead.” (1 Peter 4:1-5)

When followers of Christ are converted and born again of God they no longer partake of the lifestyles they once partook of. This is something that those who walk after the flesh do not understand unless God draws them by His Spirit and they listen and obey. The friends you once had will eventually come to an end unless you are a struggling Christian or they are tremendously respectful of your deeply held convictions and obedience to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. “Can two walk together, except they be agreed?” (Amos 3:3) This the Lord asked of Israel through the Prophet Amos. The answer is no they can’t walk together.

“Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.” (2 Cor 6:14-18) “Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners. Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.” (1 Cor 15:33-34)

When followers of Christ are converted and born again of God when their friends begin to ask them to come and partake of any number of things you may have once partook of with them, even if it was recently, is going to be confusing to them. They likely will try their best to persuade you to do it anyway. In many cases they could care less that you have become born again because they have no interest in serving God but rather serving their own lusts even as you once did with them.

“And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” (Eph 2:1-10)

This may lead to name calling by them toward you and talking about you behind your back while other gossiping friends relay back to you what is taking place or you may even see it posted on one of your favorite social hangouts online. The answer is clearly written in scripture that we are not to partake of the lifestyles we once partook of while walking in the flesh in our past. We are now walking after the Spirit.

“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.” (1 Jn 2:15-17)

“There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.” (Rm 8:1-8)

Come let us Grow Together: God’s Will for your Life in the Word of God

When we ask God for help in prayer we must first remember this. “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” (Heb 11:6) We are also instructed to “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” (Phil 4:6-7) And we are not suppose to pray in repetitions. “But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.” (Matt 6:7) So to put this into perspective you desire God’s will in your life and are seeking His direction. Here we see that when you come to God you must first exercise faith that you believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. You are then instructed to not be anxious when praying but every thing in prayer and thanksgiving letting your requests be known unto God. And not to pray in repetitions. This also will take away your stress as you are seeking God’s will and trusting in Him for it.

Heb 11_6

On the other hand it is perfectly ok to think out a plan for example saying I would like to go to college and I plan to complete it. Etc. You are making a plan. But before you make any plans the scriptures say for us to do this: “Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.” (James 4:13-15) Do you see how that works with what I said above with the scriptures and for your overall plan? This way you have made a plan but have said if the Lord will I will do this. So then you have prayed and asked according to His will recognizing that plans can change and God’s will for you will be shown to you as you follow Him seeking that direction. Here is how you do that. “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.” (Matt 6:33-34) See God knows what you have need of. Sometimes we think it is a need that we are seeking from the Lord and yet in reality it is actually only a desire that we ourselves want.

When you are seeking direction you must also be following the direction God has already given to you in His Word. Your first priority here is to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness. The rest will be added to you. So you decide to make a plan for college but then you ask God if it’s according to your will I would like to do this. And then you put your faith in God while you pursue His Word. Because God has revealed His will in His Word. “Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” (1 Thess 5:16-18) “For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication: That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour; Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God: That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified. For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.” (1 Thess 4:3-7) “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.” (2 Tim 2:15-16)

See how this works with first seeking the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and the rest will be added unto you? You first had faith in God and sought His direction. You then make a plan that I would like to go to college Lord if it be your will. You then study the Word of God while applying God’s will in your life of which we saw that God desires us to be rejoicing evermore, praying without ceasing (meaning keeping a close communication with the Lord where He is always on your heart), and in everything giving thanks. This we are told IS THE WILL OF GOD as well as to KNOW HOW TO KEEP OURSELVES in sanctification and honor and to study the Word of God to show ourselves approved unto God. This is the direction for ALL CHRISTIANS!

So this is what you are to be doing. As for the college and other things you desire in life remember to always ask according to the Lord’s will and continue to grow in Christ and seeking after the Kingdom of God and His righteousness always. Because plans can change. And we can not do things by our own power or might or because we will it to happen. This IS NOT the correct way. “Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.” (Zech 4:6) “So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.” (Rm 9:16)

Remember this also. “Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith? And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind.” (Lk 12:27-29) “The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand. I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.” (Psa 37:23-25)

You hear God through learning His Word and knowing what it says. This doesn’t mean God won’t speak to you nor do I mean that you will not be led of God by His own way of teaching you. But you do not put your faith in your heart you put your faith in the Word of God because our hearts can’t be trusted. “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.” (Jer 17:9-10)

Romans 1:20
20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them. (Psalms 139:15-16)

But ask now the beasts, and they shall teach thee; and the fowls of the air, and they shall tell thee: Or speak to the earth, and it shall teach thee: and the fishes of the sea shall declare unto thee. Who knoweth not in all these that the hand of the LORD hath wrought this? (Job 12:7-9)

Or who shut up the sea with doors, when it brake forth, as if it had issued out of the womb? When I made the cloud the garment thereof, and thick darkness a swaddlingband for it, And brake up for it my decreed place, and set bars and doors, And said, Hitherto shalt thou come, but no further: and here shall thy proud waves be stayed? Hast thou commanded the morning since thy days; and caused the dayspring to know his place; That it might take hold of the ends of the earth, that the wicked might be shaken out of it? (Job 38:8-13)

James 3:3-12
3 Behold, we put bits in the horses’ mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body.
4 Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth.
5 Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!
6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.

The tongue defiles the whole body even as Jesus said, “And Jesus said, Are ye also yet without understanding? Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught? But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man. For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies: These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man.” (Mt 15:16-20) The tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity, and sets on fire the course of nature as itself is a fire, as what you say in an instant can change everything. The Apostle James likens the tongue as being set on fire of hell.

7 For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind:
8 But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.

It is our responsibility to do our best to control what we say by applying the Word of God. However it is impossible for us to tame the tongue and we will make mistakes. Repent to those you have spoken against and repent to God.

9 Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God.
10 Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.
11 Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter?
12 Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh.

Matthew 12:36-37
36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.
37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

Every word you speak whether by yourself or with others, whether spoken recklessly or carefully thought out and spoken you will give account.

Proverbs 18:19-21
19 A brother offended is harder to be won than a strong city: and their contentions are like the bars of a castle.
20 A man’s belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled.
21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

Your words again will set on fire the course of nature. When a brother is offended “their contentions are like the bars of a castle.” They are not easily won over again as you have hurt and offended them. “A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth: and the recompence of a man’s hands shall be rendered unto him.” (Pro 12:14) “A man shall eat good by the fruit of his mouth: but the soul of the transgressors shall eat violence. He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.” (Pro 13:2-3)

The saying sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me is a lie! The Apostle James tells us that the tongue “is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!” Your words can inflict life long suffering on people, cause fights, separate friends and families, and even cause people to lose control from your provocations to even commit murder. “He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.”

James 1:19-22
19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:
20 For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.
21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.
22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

Proverbs 11:13
13 A talebearer revealeth secrets: but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter.

Galatians 5:15
15 But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another.

1 Peter 3:10-12
10 For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:
11 Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it.
12 For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.

Proverbs 20:19
19 He that goeth about as a talebearer revealeth secrets: therefore meddle not with him that flattereth with his lips.

Proverbs 18:6-8
6 A fool’s lips enter into contention, and his mouth calleth for strokes.
7 A fool’s mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare of his soul.
8 The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.

Words can absolutely hurt you and those around you! Are you a gossiper? “The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.” Do you spend your time listening to gossip? Do you refrain your tongue from evil? Do you keep your lips from beguiling others? What kind of conversation do you partake of? Are you one who reveals secrets? Or are you of a faithful spirit, one who conceals the matter?

If we want to see good days we need to follow after the Words of Jesus.

John 12:46-50
46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.
47 And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
48 He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.
49 For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.
50 And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.

If the words that Jesus spoke are going to judge us in the last day then it is of the utmost importance to know what he taught as well as his disciples since Jesus also gave them the Words of life that we are to live by. It is of the utmost importance that the children of God, who are the ambassadors of Christ, to sanctify the Lord God in your hearts and be ready always to give an answer to every man who asks you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear.

1 Peter 3:15
15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:

Are you ready to give an answer to every person that asks you a reason of the hope of Jesus Christ that we have within with meekness and fear?

2 Timothy 2:14-16
14 Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers.
15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
16 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.

If we are going to be able to give an answer to every person that asks us a reason of the hope of Jesus Christ that we have within us with meekness and fear, then we must study to show ourselves approved unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, correctly interpreting the word of truth. We must know the word of God and be able to correctly interpret it. This not only for our own selves but for all of those who are in need of the truth.

2 Timothy 2:23-26

Our goal is to be equipped and ready to teach at any moment with patience and love. In meekness instructing those who oppose themselves. It is God that gives them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; but it is you that has the word of life to instruct them with.

We are equipped by the fivefold ministry that God gave to us so that we could learn the words of God that we might be able to know and understand for our own selves as well as to be ready and able to instruct those who desire to know of the hope that is within us which is Jesus Christ the hope of glory!

Ephesians 4:7-16
7 But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.
8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.

Jesus Christ gave gifts unto men. The Gift of Eternal Life, The Gift of the Holy Ghost, The nine Gifts of the Holy Ghost, The Gift of restoration of Sonship through Adoption, The Gift of Grace, The Gift of Righteousness, and also the Gift of the Five Fold Ministry.

9 (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?
10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)
11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

The five fold ministry is to equip the saints with the knowledge of the truth that we might share them with others and fulfill the great commission of Jesus Christ to go and teach all nations with the correct understanding of what we are teaching the people.

The five fold ministry is suppose to equip us with the correct understanding so that we can come together in the unity of the faith of which means there wouldn’t be any more Christian divisions because the one faith of how to be correctly born again is given to us as the Apostle Peter instructed us saying, “Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” (Acts 2:38) The five fold ministry is suppose to teach you of the knowledge of the Son of God with the correct interpretation so that we are not deceived about who Jesus the Son of God is. “And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.” (1 Jn 5:20)

14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

Once we have this knowledge of the truth we are to be “speaking the truth in love”. We will give account of every word spoken and death and life are in the power of the tongue.

Ephesians 4:29-30
29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

Our words should have life in them. There shouldn’t be corrupt communications proceeding out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. We are to be edifying with our conversations and ministering grace unto the hearers of our words that they may learn of Jesus Christ and be encouraged, uplifted, edified, and shown the only right and correct way for them to escape the wrath of God that is to come.

Colossians 4:5-6
5 Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time.
6 Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.

Walking with wisdom toward them that are without requires that you first have this wisdom yourself. Then let your speech be with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man! Again we need to be well equipped and learned in the gospel teaching of Jesus Christ so that we may be ready to give an answer to every person that asks us.

James 1:5-7
5 If of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.

You will know if you have the wisdom that is from God.

James 3:17-18
17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

Godly wisdom “is first pure”! Is holy producing righteousness, uprightness, and virtue within those who possess it. Then peaceable! Godly wisdom is peaceable! “Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.” (Rm 14:19) “Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:” (Heb 12:14) Godly wisdom is gentle, mild, moderate! Godly wisdom is easy to be intreated, persuaded, and compliant! As long as it fully aligns up with the scriptures! Godly wisdom is full of mercy! “And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.” (Eph 4:32) Godly wisdom is full of good fruits! “Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.” (Phil 1:11) Godly wisdom is without partiality! “But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.” (James 2:9) Godly wisdom is without hypocrisy! “And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?” (Lk 6:46)

18 And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.

“Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.” (Mt 5:9)

2 Peter 1:1-12
1 Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:
2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

The Apostle Peter speaking to those “that have obtained like precious faith” “through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue” tells us that we have been given “exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature”! “For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.” (Eph 5:30) The Apostle Peter then goes on to give us instructions on how we can be sure that we are neither “barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ” and that “if ye do these things, ye shall never fall”!

5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;

Even as we “have obtained like precious faith” we are to give “all diligence” to “add to your faith virtue”! Diligent being with speed, eagerness, and in all earnestness! We are to add to our “like precious faith” virtue! Virtue being moral excellence and uprightness! And to this virtue knowledge! Knowledge of the Word of God!

6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;

And to this knowledge of the Word of God temperance! Temperance being self control! And to self control patience! “But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.” (James 1:4) And to this patience godliness! The attributes of being Godly! “He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.” (1 Jn 2:6)

7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.

And to these Godly attributes brotherly kindness! Brotherly kindness being brotherly love! “Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:” (1 Peter 1:22) And to this brotherly love charity! Charity being a love for all mankind! “Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.” (Rm 13:10)

8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9 But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.
10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:
11 For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
12 Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth.

1 Peter 4:8-11
8 And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.
9 Use hospitality one to another without grudging.
10 As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
11 If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

We are to have fervent love among ourselves! We are to be good stewards of the manifold grace of God!

1 Corinthians 13:4-8
4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;

“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (Jn 14:6) Heroin is not your answer! Is it a hurt in your heart that is calling you? Is it the pleasure of sin for a season that is calling you? Heroin is not your answer!

Is the pain in your life coming from sorrow of heart? Is it the pain of anxiety, worry, and fear that is drawing you? Is it the pleasure of rebellion that is drawing you? Or is it the dire need to be noticed? Heroin is not your answer! Is it the cool crowd that is calling after you or is it the haughty spirit that is calling you? Heroin is not your answer! Jesus was, is, and will always be your answer!! Whether you have had an experience with Him or not! Jesus was, is, and will always be your answer!!

You want free from pain of the heart? Jesus was, is, and will always be your answer!! You want free from rebellion and a haughty spirit? Jesus was, is, and will always be your answer!! I rebuke that haughty spirit from you right now in Jesus name!! There’s power in the name of Jesus!! Heroin is not your answer!

Heroin has killed many of it’s slaves!! I said satan has killed many of his slaves of which you have become because of your own rebellious desires and pleasures!! But praise be to God who is always your answer!! You need Jesus not heroin!! I’m talking about a crying out in repentance of all of your sins to Jesus who was, is, and will always be your answer!!

You need a strong support system of Holy Ghost filled saints of God who will bind together with you against this attack from the devil and claim all authority over this foul spirit and demonic attacks!! However, you must first repent of your sins and then, “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” (James 4:7) Call for the elders of the Church no matter the time of day or night because “whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it” (1 Cor 12:26) and we will stand together with you and will fight along side you because we love you and you are part of the Lord’s body. Heroin is not your answer! Cocaine is not your answer! Crack is not your answer! Ecstasy is not your answer! LSD is not your answer! Synthetic Marijuana is not your answer! Jesus was, is, and will always be your answer!!

“Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” (James 5:16) Anybody need a healing? “Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed”. You are not alone!!

Faith, hope, truth, life!! Jesus was, is, and will always be your answer!! It’s time to forgive yourself for your mistakes!! Let go of resentments, feelings of guilt and shame, bitterness, and hatreds before it totally consumes you!!

Heroin is not your answer! Jesus was, is, and will always be your answer!! Quit running away from God and call out to Him.

1 Timothy 6:6-19
6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.
7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.
8 And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.

Why would a man of God want to put such a dangerous doctrine of The Prosperity Message of Riches out to anyone? Especially young sheep of whom they devour? Jesus said, “for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.” While the Apostle Paul admonishes and warns Timothy to make sure that he knew and taught against such a doctrine. Listen how clearly the Apostle Paul explains this to Timothy of which he is sending to teach this to others of which included you and I. The Apostle Paul explicitly tells Timothy that this is a commandment giving this “charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession; That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ”.

We are warned that “they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.” So why would a man of God want to put such a dangerous doctrine of The Prosperity Message of Riches out to anyone? Especially young sheep of whom they devour? As well as a doctrine that is against the Word of God? These Pastors and teachers have lost their way. They themselves may be desiring riches for themselves and not to be used for the kingdom of God but for a life of luxury and ease. The Apostle Paul said, “For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.” They have “erred from the faith” for “the love of money is the root of all evil” and they are instructing both babes in the Lord and the mature to seek after riches while claiming this is of God of which it is not!! What is of God is what the Apostle Paul continues to tell Timothy to follow after and to teach others to do the same which is, “But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.”

So the man of God is to “flee these things”. To “follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness” and “Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called”.

This is very unpopular to those who desire to be rich!! This is very unpopular to them who desire worldly gain!! This is very unpopular to them who are wolves in sheep’s clothing!! This is very unpopular to the hireling who will not lay down his life for the sheep!!

However, the Apostle Paul continues to teach Timothy who will be teaching others on how those who are rich are to conduct themselves. “Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate; Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.”

John 10:7-14
7 Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.
8 All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them.
9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.
10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
12 But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep.
13 The fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep.
14 I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.

Acts 20:28-35
28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.
29 For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.
30 Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.

Jesus clearly teaches against The Prosperity Message of Riches!!

Luke 12:29-34
29 And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind.
30 For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things.
31 But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.
32 Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
33 Sell that ye have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth.
34 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Your treasure is supposed to be above “where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” So if your heart is on worldly gain of uncertain riches that fly away that is where you heart is also. You have erred from the faith!!

To the rich young ruler Jesus showed how hard it is for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.

Luke 18:18-25
18 And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?
19 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God.
20 Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother.
21 And he said, All these have I kept from my youth up.
22 Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.
23 And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: for he was very rich.
24 And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!
25 For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle’s eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

This rich young ruler had the opportunity to leave behind the riches of the world and to literally come and follow after Jesus. Jesus gave him the opportunity to be one of his followers and have “treasure in heaven” but these worldly riches “which drown men in destruction and perdition” were more important to him than to lay up “treasure in heaven” and to follow after Jesus. Jesus then told his disciples, “How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!” Saying, “For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle’s eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.” So why would a man of God want to put such a dangerous doctrine of The Prosperity Message of Riches out to anyone? Especially young sheep of whom they devour? The answer is they are no longer following the gospel message and have erred from the faith and are teaching others to do the same! Woe unto these false teachers of men who are leading their sheep to their own destruction and demise!

1 Corinthians 1:26-29
26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:
27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;
28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:
29 That no flesh should glory in his presence.

The virgin Mary prophesying speaks concerning the rich of the world.

Luke 1:46-55
46 And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord,
47 And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.
48 For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.
49 For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is his name.
50 And his mercy is on them that fear him from generation to generation.
51 He hath shewed strength with his arm; he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.
52 He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree.
53 He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he hath sent empty away.
54 He hath holpen his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy;
55 As he spake to our fathers, to Abraham, and to his seed for ever.

The Apostle James also speaks in the same manner as the Apostle Paul.

James 2:5-7
5 Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?
6 But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats?
7 Do not they blaspheme that worthy name by the which ye are called?

James 5:1-7
1 Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you.
2 Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten.
3 Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days.
4 Behold, the hire of the labourers who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them which have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of sabaoth.
5 Ye have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been wanton; ye have nourished your hearts, as in a day of slaughter.
6 Ye have condemned and killed the just; and he doth not resist you.
7 Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.

To those that are rich the Apostle James tells them:

James 1:9-11
9 Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted:

King Solomon the wisest and riches king tells us many things concerning riches!

Proverbs 11:28
28 He that trusteth in his riches shall fall: but the righteous shall flourish as a branch.

7 There is that maketh himself rich, yet hath nothing: there is that maketh himself poor, yet hath great riches.

Proverbs 22:1
1 A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold.

Proverbs 23:4-5
4 Labour not to be rich: cease from thine own wisdom.
5 Wilt thou set thine eyes upon that which is not? for riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away as an eagle toward heaven.

But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes. And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will. (2 Tim 2:23-26)

But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain. A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject; Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself. (Titus 3:9-11)

Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do. (1 Tim 1:4)

As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. (1 Peter 4:10-11)

Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time. Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man. (Col 4:5-6)

Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. (Eph 4:29) Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God. (James 1:19-20)

Matthew 11:28-30
28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

We need to enter into the rest of the Lord. The rest of the Lord is the receiving of the Holy Ghost evidenced by the speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives the utterance as witnessed in the Book of Acts 2:1-4 and throughout the Book of Acts.

Jesus reveals to this woman of Samaria that he is the Christ. There are those that claim that Jesus never claimed to be the Messiah or the Christ but this is not true as he most definitely claimed to be the Messiah or Christ to the woman of Samaria saying to her statement, “I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things. Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.” The living water that Jesus spoke of was the Holy Ghost as Jesus said, “He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)” (Jn 7:37-38)

We must enter into the rest of the Lord.

Hebrews 4:1-16
1 Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.
2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
3 For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.

“And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.” (Rev 13:8) “Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:” (Isa 46:9-10) “(As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.” (Rm 4:17)

“For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.” The faith of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the everlasting gospel, was preached unto Abraham and to his seed. “Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness. Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham. And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed. So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.” (Gal 3:6-9) “For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith. For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect: Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression. Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all, (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were. Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be. And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara’s womb: He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform. And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness. Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him; But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead; Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.” (Rm 4:13-25) “But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith. And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them. Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. Brethren, I speak after the manner of men; Though it be but a man’s covenant, yet if it be confirmed, no man disannulleth, or addeth thereto. Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.” (Gal 3:11-16) The faith of the gospel of Jesus Christ, that was preached afore to Abraham and to his seed, “saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed” is the everlasting gospel. Jesus Christ is that seed of Abraham of which was prophesied to come throughout the Old Testament first being prophesied in Genesis after the fall of mankind saying to the serpent, “And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.” (Gen 3:15) That seed was Jesus Christ. “And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.” (Rev 14:6-7)

Continuing from Hebrews chapter 4.
4 For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.
5 And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest.
6 Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:

“While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation. For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses. But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness? And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not? So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.” (Heb 3:15-19)

“This Moses whom they refused, saying, Who made thee a ruler and a judge? the same did God send to be a ruler and a deliverer by the hand of the angel which appeared to him in the bush. He brought them out, after that he had shewed wonders and signs in the land of Egypt, and in the Red sea, and in the wilderness forty years. This is that Moses, which said unto the children of Israel, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear. This is he, that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel which spake to him in the mount Sina, and with our fathers: who received the lively oracles to give unto us: To whom our fathers would not obey, but thrust him from them, and in their hearts turned back again into Egypt, Saying unto Aaron, Make us gods to go before us: for as for this Moses, which brought us out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him. And they made a calf in those days, and offered sacrifice unto the idol, and rejoiced in the works of their own hands. Then God turned, and gave them up to worship the host of heaven; as it is written in the book of the prophets, O ye house of Israel, have ye offered to me slain beasts and sacrifices by the space of forty years in the wilderness? Yea, ye took up the tabernacle of Moloch, and the star of your god Remphan, figures which ye made to worship them: and I will carry you away beyond Babylon. Our fathers had the tabernacle of witness in the wilderness, as he had appointed, speaking unto Moses, that he should make it according to the fashion that he had seen. Which also our fathers that came after brought in with Jesus into the possession of the Gentiles, whom God drave out before the face of our fathers, unto the days of David; Who found favour before God, and desired to find a tabernacle for the God of Jacob. But Solomon built him an house. Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as saith the prophet, Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool: what house will ye build me? saith the Lord: or what is the place of my rest? Hath not my hand made all these things?” (Acts 7:35-50)

8 For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.
9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.

The rest of the Lord. “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Mt 11:28) However, in King David’s time in the Psalms “Nearly five hundred years after the time when the Israelites were going to the promised land, and when the offer of rest was made to them, we hear David speaking” (—Barnes’ Notes on the New Testament) through prophecy of another day, “For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. To day if ye will hear his voice, Harden not your heart, as in the provocation, and as in the day of temptation in the wilderness: When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my work. Forty years long was I grieved with this generation, and said, It is a people that do err in their heart, and they have not known my ways: Unto whom I sware in my wrath that they should not enter into my rest.” (Psa 95:7-11) The writer of Hebrews brings this up to the Hebrews and to us who read it today that if Jesus, this being Joshua the son of Nun which is the same name but filtered into our English language from Hebrew in the Old Testament and from the Greek in the New Testament, that if Joshua “had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.” However, God through King David did speak of another day, “There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.“

The rest of the Lord which comes by receiving the Holy Ghost evidenced by speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives the utterance as found in Acts 2:1-4 and throughout the Book of Acts.

“The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.” (Lk 16:16) “Then said one unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved? And he said unto them, Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.” (Lk 13:23-24) “Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.”

“Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts. For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little: For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people. To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear. But the word of the LORD was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.” (Isa 28:9-13)

“Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham. Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded (According as it is written, God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear;) unto this day. And David saith, Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, and a stumblingblock, and a recompence unto them: Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see, and bow down their back alway. I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy. Now if the fall of them be the riches of the world, and the diminishing of them the riches of the Gentiles; how much more their fulness? For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office: If by any means I may provoke to emulation them which are my flesh, and might save some of them. For if the casting away of them be the reconciling of the world, what shall the receiving of them be, but life from the dead?” (Rm 11:6-15) “Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.” (Rm 11:22)

12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.
14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.
15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Mt 11:28) “Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep. All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them. I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep. But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep. The Hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep. I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine. As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep. And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd. Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.” (Jn 10:7-18)

Therefore let us not be of those who did not believe and could not enter in but rather let us labor to enter into the rest of the Lord where we cease from our own works as God did from his. This takes place when we receive the free gift of the Holy Ghost evidenced by the speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives the utterance as is found in the Book of Acts 2:1-4 and throughout the Book of Acts.

Come let us Grow Together: Worshippers of Self

Worshipers of self are those that are worshipers of human reasoning. Those who worship their own opinions over what the Word of God teaches us. Generally using phrases that start with, “I don’t believe” or “I don’ feel” versus being obedient to the Word of God.

These people are lovers of self more than lovers of God. They depend upon human ability. Resting on their own fruitfulness of their own labors. They shove God out of the way and let their human reasoning or their own opinions take over. Thus they eliminate the need to trust in God because they “believe” or “feel” they can trust in their own self. They put their trust into their own hands, their own opinions, and their own abilities.

These worshipers of self will try to justify their actions by human reasoning. I still have money in my pocket. I still have a car to drive. I still feel God in my life. And thus they have made an idol out of their own opinions and have become worshipers of self. Then they will set themselves in the congregation of God and expect him to share with them His devotion while they cling to the idol of self.

The idol of who cares what God thinks about the affairs of my life. I’ll just use my own human reasoning to decide where I can survive spiritually and how I can survive spiritually. I’m talking about that human mentality, that human ability that says why should I pray and seek God? I’m making a good living and I trust in the works of my hands more than I trust in the hands of God. I’m talking about that attitude that says I must be alright with God or I wouldn’t have all of these good things in my life. I’m alright even though I am living in fornication. I’m alright even though I’m still living in sin. I think I’m alright because I still have a good job in spite of my sinful habit. I still have my family in spite of the sin that I let into the doors of my home. I still have fun and I’m not convicted about my carnality. I’m talking about WORSHIPERS OF SELF! I’m talking about the worship of human reasoning! I’m talking about the worship of your own opinion! I’m talking about the mentality that says I still feel God when I come to Church despite my compromised life!

I’m here to tell you that you are lovers of self more than lovers of God! You are lovers of what others have more than lovers of God!! You are lovers of what you believe more than lovers of God!! You are lovers of vanity more than lovers of God!! You are lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God!!

I’m telling you that you are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved for ever!! I’m telling you that you are without fear of God!! Carried about of winds. What the latest fashion is. What the latest fad is. What the latest tradition of men is. Never concerning yourself with What thus saith the Word of God. Trees whose fruit withers away, sitting in the congregation of God! Claiming to be followers of God, and yet your dwelling place is in the congregation of the dead whose nigh end is burning!!

I say to you repent of this your wickedness!! I say to you repent of your idolatrous practices of worshiping your own self! Worshiping your own ideals! Worshiping what you discern to be truth versus what the Word of God teaches us! Except you repent you will die in your sins!!

What are you bowing your knee to? For they that are of such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own fleshly desires!! They are serving their own fleshly wants!! They are serving their own fleshly cravings!! And they are serving their own carnal devices!!

Serving whatever my flesh wants and serving whatever my flesh desires while finding ways in the worship of self to justify it!! It’s time to place this idol of self on the altar of sacrifice!! It’s time for a spiritual cleansing and a spiritual awakening to the acknowledging of the truth!! It’s a time of refreshing and renewing in the Holy Ghost!! For our God will abundantly pardon!! Only you must put away the idol of self!! It’s time to cast self into the Fire of the Holy Ghost!! Purge yourself therefore of CARNALITY and LUST FILLED THOUGHTS and PRACTICES and LIVE!! It’s time to DIE OUT TO THE WORSHIP OF SELF!

Laying on the altar of sacrifice!! Let me die for you Lord!! Paul said, I die daily!! WE MUST MORTIFY THE DEEDS of the FLESH and NOT fulfill the LUSTS thereof!!

But I think this is ok… But I think that is alright… That’s not the way I see it… That’s not the way I interpret it… Lovers of Self you are!! Worshipers of Self you be!! It’s time to lay yourself on the altar of repentance why it is still called today!! For you are not promised your next breath!! It is appointed unto man once to die then comes the judgment!!
