Romans 13:11-14
11 And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.
12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.
13 Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.
14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

Do you know the time?  No matter your answer it is high time to awake out of sleep!

Matthew 25:1-13
1 Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
2 And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
3 They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:
4 But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
5 While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.

All ten virgins slumbered and slept!  This does not mean that all ten virgins were not watching for the bridegroom!  Five of the ten virgins were wise!  They were prepared to meet the bridegroom having took oil in their vessels with their lamps!  We are commanded “Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.” (Mt 24:42) Therefore these five wise virgins were watching, praying, prepared, and ready to meet the bridegroom their Lord.

6 And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.
7 Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
8 And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.
9 But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.
10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.

The five wise virgins though sleeping the natural sleep that all mankind is partaker of was still watching, praying, prepared, and ready to meet the bridegroom their Lord!  And they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut!

11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

The Lord Jesus knows that all of us must sleep the natural sleep of man.  Jesus himself as man also slept.

Matthew 8:23-27
23 And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him.
24 And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep.
25 And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish.
26 And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.
27 But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!

The sleep Jesus is speaking of concerning his coming to catch away his bride is that of spiritual sleep.  Otherwise anytime a person fell asleep according to that which all mankind are partakers of, that being natural sleep, would be in danger of hellfire because only those that are saved and awake can meet the bridegroom of which we know is not the case since we read concerning the ten virgins that “While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.” Yet, the five wise virgins “that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.”

Mark 13:28-37
28 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When her branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is near:
29 So ye in like manner, when ye shall see these things come to pass, know that it is nigh, even at the doors.
30 Verily I say unto you, that this generation shall not pass, till all these things be done.
31 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.
32 But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.
33 Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.

“And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.” (Rm 13:11-14)

34 For the Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch.
35 Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning:
36 Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping.
37 And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.

Again, the ten virgins “all slumbered and slept” the natural sleep of mankind but five of the ten virgins were spiritually awake!!  Having “took oil in their vessels with their lamps” they were watching and prepared for the coming of the bridegroom their Lord!!  They were prepared for whether “at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning” for the coming of the bridegroom their Lord!! And they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut!!

Cut the Weights and Produce some Fruit!! For the Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work!!  Those that are spiritually awake are producing fruit even as Jesus gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work!!  Those that are naturally asleep do not have oil in their lamps nor are they busy about the work that the master of the house left for them to do!!

Luke 21:29-36
29 And he spake to them a parable; Behold the fig tree, and all the trees;
30 When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand.
31 So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand.
32 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled.
33 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.
34 And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.
35 For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.
36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

Heed the warning!!  “lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.”  However, for those that are watching and praying, represented by the five wise virgins awaiting their bridegroom, that day will not take you unaware because we are the children of the light and have been watching, praying, and we are prepared and ready to meet the bridegroom our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ!!

1 Thessalonians 5:1-9
1 But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.
2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
7 For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.
8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.
9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,

The five wise virgins are the children of light, and the children of the day!!  We are not spiritually asleep as the rest of the whole Earth.  For we know the times and the seasons and are producing fruit as the master of the house has gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work!!  For we know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night!! But we are not in darkness, that that day should overtake us as a thief!!

We are busy producing fruit, watching, praying, and we are prepared and ready to meet the bridegroom our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ!!  To the rest of the Earth it’s high time to awake out of sleep!!  Cut the Weights and Produce some Fruit!!

Matthew 24:42-51
42 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.
43 But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.
44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.
45 Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?
46 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.
47 Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.

The five wise virgins are busy producing fruit!!  For the Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work!!  Those that are spiritually awake are producing fruit even as Jesus gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work!!  We have watched and our house will not be broken up as the rest of the whole Earth!! Cut the Weights and Produce some Fruit!!

48 But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming;
49 And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken;
50 The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of,
51 And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Hebrews 12:1-3
1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
3 For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.

Come let us Grow Together: The Sign of Circumcision

Come let us Grow Together is a weekly series that deals with the many topical categories that exist within the Word of God.  The purpose of this series is to grow in wisdom, knowledge, and understanding in things pertaining to God.

God gave to Abraham the method of cutting the covenant.

This is my covenant, which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee; Every man child among you shall be circumcised. And ye shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall be a token of the covenant betwixt me and you. (Gen 17:10-11)

Circumcision was a visible mark and sign in a man’s flesh that he had been separated unto God.

Gentiles become Abraham’s Heirs.

Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin. Cometh this blessedness then upon the circumcision only, or upon the uncircumcision also? for we say that faith was reckoned to Abraham for righteousness. And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had yet being uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also: (Rom 4:8-9, 11)

The method of cutting the covenant.

In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; (Col 2:11-14)

How to partake of the New Testament Covenant.

Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. (Acts 2:38)

Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.  Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ. (Gal 3:13-14, 16)

For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.  (Gal 3:27, 29)

Who are Christ’s?  Those who have been born of water and of the Spirit.  Those who have repented and been baptized in Jesus name for the remission of sins, and those who have received the promise of the Holy Ghost evidenced by the speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives the utterance.

For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God. (Rom 2:28-29)

We are speaking of how we enter into the New Testament Covenant!!  This process begins with understanding that just as Abraham received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had yet being uncircumcised, that we to also enter into the New Testament Covenant with a circumcision.

Just as God cut the covenant with Abraham with the sign of circumcision, even so God also cuts the covenant with us in a different way.  Instead of it being a circumcision of the flesh, it is a circumcision of the heart.

This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them; (Heb 10:16)

It is important to understand that when the Lord writes His laws into your hearts and into your minds, it comes by the receiving of the Holy Ghost.

And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more. (Heb 10:17)

To enter into this covenant one must repent of their sins and be baptized in Jesus name for the remission of their sins.  God will have cut the covenant with us because the circumcision of Christ, the circumcision made without hands, takes place when you are buried with Him in baptism.  Wherein you have faith in the operation of God who raised up Jesus from the dead.

So when we repent of our sins and get baptized in Jesus name for the remission of our sins, we enter into the New Testament Covenant, just as Abraham entered into the covenant that God gave to him and to his seed after him.

Abraham received the sign of circumcision and was given a promise.  We too are circumcised and we too receive a promise.  The promise we receive is that we will receive the Holy Ghost.  When we receive the Holy Ghost, the Lord, writes His laws in your hearts and in your minds.

Thus you enter into the New Testament Covenant when you repent and are baptized in Jesus name for the remission of your sins.  However, you must then receive the promise to complete the fulfilment of the Covenant in which God writes His laws in your hearts and minds.

For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. (1 Cor 12:13)

You enter into the body of Christ when you receive the Spirit of Christ.  Not beforehand.  When you are baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins you enter into the New Testament Covenant, but are awaiting the promise of the believers, which is the Holy Ghost and how we gain access into the body of Christ.

Understand that it is a promise that you will receive the Spirit of Christ when you have repented of your sins and have been baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins.  However, until you receive the Spirit of Christ you are not in the body of Christ.  Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. (Rom 8:9b)

Remember we must be born of water and of the Spirit to see or enter into the kingdom of God. (Jn 3:1-7) It is intended that when you repent and get baptized in Jesus name for the remission of your sins, that you then receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.  However, we know that many times one repents and gets baptized in Jesus name, but may not receive the Holy Ghost for some time.  However, it is a promise of God that they will.  God can not lie.  It will take place.

He that loves the Lord, let him obey.

This is a story that took place many, many years ago.  In chapter one, there was a Fire Captain who came to tell men how they could live, if they ever were to catch on fire.   Upon one occasion he told one person, that if you want to live if you catch on fire, you must Stop and Roll.  This baffled the man because he was uncertain how one could roll while standing up.

At another occasion in chapter one, several people were gathered around and many of them doubted the doctrine of the Fire Captain.  So the Fire Captain told these people, If you want to live if you catch on fire, you must Drop to the name of the Ground, Land, and Dirt.  Go therefore and teach all people.

Upon a separate occasion in chapter one, the Fire Captain was talking with his Fire Lieutenants and he asked them, who do the people say that I am?  And after several responses, he then asked his Fire Lieutenants, who do you say that I am?   And one of the Fire Lieutenants said you are the Fire Captain the one who will save us from the fire.  The Fire Captain replied you are blessed so I will give you the Keys to How to live if you catch on fire.

It came to pass that many of the people hated the Fire Captain because they did not believe that he really was the Fire Captain.  So they persecuted him and put him to death.

Later on in chapter two, their was a big fire in one of the buildings where many followers of the Fire Captain were gathered together.  The crowd came to see what was taking place, because to their amazement the people were rolling all around and none of them were injured or killed.  So the people started yelling out how is it that you people were able to live seeing that your clothes have caught on fire?  Then the one Fire Lieutenant that correctly identified the Fire Captain spoke up with the other eleven Fire Lieutenants gathered around and said, you men that are gathered around here, be it known to you that this Fire Captain you have killed was really the Fire Captain as he claimed.

Upon hearing this and knowing what they had just witnessed with all these followers of the Fire Captain still alive and unharmed, the people said we did not realize that he was truly the Fire Captain, what must we do that we too will not die if we catch on fire?  Then the one Fire Lieutenant that correctly identified the Fire Captain spoke and said, to live if you catch on fire, you must Stop, Drop to the Earth, and you will roll around.

Still Later on in chapter three, a different Fire Lieutenant than the one Fire Lieutenant that correctly identified the Fire Captain, spoke to a group of people who had all experienced catching on fire and applying what the Fire Captain had told them to do, and this Fire Lieutenant told them that if you catch on fire, just believe the Fire Captain and you will live.

It came to pass over time that this story was recorded in a book.  Many generations later, people still wanted to know how to live if they were to catch on fire.  So three different teachers studied through the three chapters in the book.

The first teacher claimed that he had the understanding of how to live if you catch on fire.  He taught all the people that he met, that if you want to live if you catch on fire, that you have to Stop and just believe the Fire Captain and you will live.

The second teacher claimed that he had the understanding of how to live if you catch on fire.  He taught all the people that he met, that if you want to live if you catch on fire, that you have to not only Stop, but you must Drop to the name of the Ground, Land, and Dirt and you will live.

The third teacher claimed that he had the understanding of how to live if you catch on fire.  He taught all the people that he met, that if you want to live if you catch on fire, that you must Stop, Drop to the Earth, and you will roll around and you will live.

Who of the three teachers was obedient to the Fire Captain?

Who of the three teachers was not obedient to the Fire Captain?

The Meaning of the Parable

This is a true story that took place many, many years ago.  In the four books of the Gospel, there was a man named Jesus Christ who came to tell men how they could have eternal life, so that they would be able to escape going to Hell.   Upon one occasion he told a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, that if you want to enter the Kingdom of God, you must be born again of water and of the Spirit.  This baffled the man because he was uncertain how one could be born again.

John 3:1-7
1  There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:
2  The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.
3  Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
4  Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born?
5  Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
6  That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
7  Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

At another occasion in the four books of the Gospel, several people were gathered around and many of them doubted the doctrine of Jesus Christ.  So Jesus Christ spoke to His disciples in reference to gaining eternal life, while all the people were gathered around, and told them, Go therefore and teach all nations.  baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

Matthew 28:16:20
16  Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them.
17  And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted.
18  And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
19  Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20  Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Upon a separate occasion in the four books of the Gospel, Jesus Christ was talking with his Apostles and he asked them, who do the people say that I am?  And after several responses, He then asked his Apostles, who do you say that I am?   And one of the Apostles named Peter said  thou are the Christ, the Son of the living God.  Then Jesus Christ replied you are blessed for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.  And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.  And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven

Matthew 16:13-19
13  When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?
14  And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.
15  He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
16  And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
17  And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
18  And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
19  And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

It came to pass that many of the people hated Jesus Christ because they did not believe that he really was the Son of God.  So they persecuted him and put him to death.

Matthew 16:20-21
20  Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ.
21  From that time forth began Jesus to show unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.

Later on in the book of Acts or the Acts of the Apostles, the followers of Jesus Christ were all with one accord in one place.  And as they prayed and sought the Lord they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.   When it was noised abroad multitudes and crowds came to see what was taking place, because to their amazement every man heard them speaking in their own languages wherein they were born.  So the people started yelling out, What meaneth this?  Then Peter, the Apostle Jesus had given the keys to the kingdom of heaven, stood up with the other eleven Apostles and spoke unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words:  For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day.  But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel.  Peter continued on saying, this Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know:  Him ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain.

Upon hearing this and now knowing they had crucified the Lord Jesus Christ they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and the rest of the Apostles, Men and brethren what shall we do?  Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.  For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

Acts 2:1-47
1  And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
2  And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
3  And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
4  And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
5  And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.
6  Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language.
7  And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans?
8  And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?
9  Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia,
10  Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes,
11  Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God.
12  And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this?
13  Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine.
14  But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words:
15  For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day.
16  But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;
17  And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:
18  And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:
19  And I will show wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:
20  The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come:
21  And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.
22  Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know:
23  Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:
24  Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it.
25  For David speaketh concerning him, I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved:
26  Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope:
27  Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
28  Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance.
29  Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day.
30  Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;
31  He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.
32  This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.
33  Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.
34  For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself, The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand,
35  Until I make thy foes thy footstool.
36  Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.
37  Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
38  Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
39  For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
40  And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.
41  Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.
42  And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.
43  And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles.
44  And all that believed were together, and had all things common;
45  And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.
46  And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,
47  Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

Still Later on in the epistles to the churches, Apostle Paul was speaking instead of Apostle Peter and he was addressing the churches, of which already understood the plan of salvation given by Apostle Peter on the day of Pentecost from the book of Acts and he told the people if you confess with your mouth and believe God raised Jesus from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Romans 10:8-10
8  But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;
9  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

It came to pass over time that this story was recorded in the Bible.  Many generations later, people still wanted to know how to obtain eternal life and escape from going to Hell.  So three different teachers studied through the Bible.

The first teacher claimed that he had the understanding of how to obtain eternal life and escape going to Hell.  He taught all the people that he met, that if you want to obtain eternal life and escape going to Hell, that you have to Repent and just believe in thine heart that God hath raised Jesus from the dead, confessing Jesus is Lord, and thou shalt be saved.

The second teacher claimed that he had the understanding of how to obtain eternal life and escape going to Hell.  He taught all the people that he met, that if you want to obtain eternal life and escape going to Hell, that you have to not only Repent, but you must be baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, and thou shalt be saved.

The third teacher claimed that he had the understanding of how to obtain eternal life and escape going to Hell.  He taught all the people that he met, that if you want to obtain eternal life and escape going to Hell, that you must Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost, and thou shalt be saved.  And this promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

Who of the three teachers was obedient to the teaching of Jesus Christ?

Who of the three teachers was not obedient to the teaching of Jesus Christ?

Come let us Grow Together: Grace

Come let us Grow Together is a weekly series that deals with the many topical categories that exist within the Word of God.  The purpose of this series is to grow in wisdom, knowledge, and understanding in things pertaining to God.

“Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.” (Rm 5:1-2)  Though we are “justified by faith” it is important to take notice that “we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand”.  Did you know that you can turn the grace of God into lasciviousness?  “Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ. I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not.” (Jude 1:3-5)

We are warned of those that would creep in unaware being ungodly men who would turn the grace of God into lasciviousness.  “But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.” (2 Peter 2:1-3)

Did you know that you can do despite unto the Spirit of grace? “He that despised Moses’ law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace? For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.” (Heb 10:28-31)

Did you know that the grace of God that brings salvation has instructions that you are to obey in order to actually be saved by grace?  “For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.” (Titus 2:11-15)
“What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?” (Rm 6:1-2) Are you truly abounding in the grace of God and the faith of the gospel of Jesus Christ?  “Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.” (1 Cor 15:1-2)

“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.” (Mt 7:21-27)

1 Peter 4:12-19
12 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:
13 But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.
14 If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.
15 But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men’s matters.
16 Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.
17 For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?
18 And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?
19 Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.

Rejoice when the fiery trial which is to try you comes your way!!  For you are partaking of Christ’s sufferings!!  If you are reproached for the name of Christ, be happy!!  “If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also. But all these things will they do unto you for my name’s sake, because they know not him that sent me. If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloke for their sin. He that hateth me hateth my Father also. If I had not done among them the works which none other man did, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen and hated both me and my Father. But this cometh to pass, that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause.” (Jn 15:18-25)

Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.  Let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator!!

Romans 8:16-28
16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
19 For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.
20 For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope,
21 Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.
22 For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.
23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.
24 For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?
25 But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.
26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

The whole creation groans and travails in pain together until now!!  And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body!!  If so be that we suffer with Christ, that we may be also glorified together!!

2 Timothy 2:8-13
8 Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel:
9 Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound.
10 Therefore I endure all things for the elect’s sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.
11 It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him:
12 If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:
13 If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.

We are heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together!!  The word of God is not bound!!  “So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” (Isa 55:11)

2 Corinthians 4:16-18
16 For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.
17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;
18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

For our light affliction, which is but for a moment!!  “If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory. Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: For which things’ sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience: In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them. But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all. Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him. Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them. Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord. Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged. Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God: And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ. But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons.” (Col 3:1-25)   Works for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory!! While we look not at the things which are seen!! But at the things which are not seen!! For the things which are seen are temporal!! But the things which are not seen are eternal!!

Romans 5:1-6
1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;
4 And patience, experience; and experience, hope:
5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.

Justified by faith!!  We have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand!!  And rejoice in hope of the glory of God!!  And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also!!  Knowing that tribulation works patience!!  And patience, experience!!  And experience, hope!!  And hope makes not ashamed!!  Because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts!!  By the Holy Ghost which is given unto us!!

James 1:1-4
1 James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting.
2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;
3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

Count it all joy when you fall into various temptations!!  Let patience have her perfect work!!
That you may be perfect and entire!!  Wanting nothing!!  Does anyone desire godliness with contentment??

2 Thessalonians 1:1-10
1 Paul, and Silvanus, and Timotheus, unto the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ:
2 Grace unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
3 We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth;
4 So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure:
5 Which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer:
6 Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you;
7 And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,
8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;
10 When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.

To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven!! A time for mercy and a time for judgment!!  A time to be delivered and a time to remain!!  A time to pluck up from the roots which is planted and a time to plant which is aright!!  A time for offenses to come and a time for offenses to cease!!  A time for persecutions and tribulations!!  And a time for flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ!!  It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God!!

Acts 14:19-23
19 And there came thither certain Jews from Antioch and Iconium, who persuaded the people, and, having stoned Paul, drew him out of the city, supposing he had been dead.
20 Howbeit, as the disciples stood round about him, he rose up, and came into the city: and the next day he departed with Barnabas to Derbe.
21 And when they had preached the gospel to that city, and had taught many, they returned again to Lystra, and to Iconium, and Antioch,
22 Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.
23 And when they had ordained them elders in every church, and had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord, on whom they believed.

Revival can not be stopped!!  Whether stoned and left as one dead or not!!  Revival can not be stopped!!  For the Lord is with us!!  Returning again Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors, and Teachers will be ordained and anointed from on High!!

2 Corinthians 11:23-33
23 Are they ministers of Christ? (I speak as a fool) I am more; in labours more abundant, in stripes above measure, in prisons more frequent, in deaths oft.
24 Of the Jews five times received I forty stripes save one.
25 Thrice was I beaten with rods, once was I stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I have been in the deep;
26 In journeyings often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils by mine own countrymen, in perils by the heathen, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren;
27 In weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness.
28 Beside those things that are without, that which cometh upon me daily, the care of all the churches.
29 Who is weak, and I am not weak? who is offended, and I burn not?
30 If I must needs glory, I will glory of the things which concern mine infirmities.
31 The God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which is blessed for evermore, knoweth that I lie not.
32 In Damascus the governor under Aretas the king kept the city of the Damascenes with a garrison, desirous to apprehend me:
33 And through a window in a basket was I let down by the wall, and escaped his hands.

2 Corinthians 12:1-16
1 It is not expedient for me doubtless to glory. I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord.
2 I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven.
3 And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;)
4 How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.
5 Of such an one will I glory: yet of myself I will not glory, but in mine infirmities.
6 For though I would desire to glory, I shall not be a fool; for I will say the truth: but now I forbear, lest any man should think of me above that which he seeth me to be, or that he heareth of me.
7 And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.
8 For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me.
9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.
11 I am become a fool in glorying; ye have compelled me: for I ought to have been commended of you: for in nothing am I behind the very chiefest apostles, though I be nothing.
12 Truly the signs of an apostle were wrought among you in all patience, in signs, and wonders, and mighty deeds.
13 For what is it wherein ye were inferior to other churches, except it be that I myself was not burdensome to you? forgive me this wrong.
14 Behold, the third time I am ready to come to you; and I will not be burdensome to you: for I seek not yours, but you: for the children ought not to lay up for the parents, but the parents for the children.
15 And I will very gladly spend and be spent for you; though the more abundantly I love you, the less I be loved.
16 But be it so, I did not burden you: nevertheless, being crafty, I caught you with guile.

Glory in your infirmities!!  That the power of Christ may rest upon you!!  For the strength of the Lord is made perfect in weakness!!

2 Corinthians 5:1-10
1 For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
2 For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven:
3 If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked.
4 For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life.
5 Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit.
6 Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:
7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)
8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
9 Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.
10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

We have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens!!  Earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven!!  We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord!!

1 Corinthians 3:11-15
11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;
13 Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.
14 If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
15 If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

Let us labor therefore in the Lord that whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him!!  For the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is!!

Acts 8:25-39
25 And they, when they had testified and preached the word of the Lord, returned to Jerusalem, and preached the gospel in many villages of the Samaritans.
26 And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert.
27 And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship,
28  Was returning, and sitting in his chariot read Esaias the prophet.
29 Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot.
30 And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest?
31 And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.
32  The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth:
33 In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth.
34 And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man?
35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.
36 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?
37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
38 And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.
39 And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.

It is of the utmost importance that you have a Pastor and a preacher in your life!!  Otherwise how can you hear and understand except some man should guide you?

Romans 10:13-17
13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?
17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

You need a Pastor and a preacher in your life to hear and understand the Word of God!!  You need help from the called man of God!! “how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent?”

Hebrews 13:17
17 Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.

It is vitally important that you understand what you read and what you hear!!  It is vitally important that scripture is interpreted correctly!!  It is vitally important to understand the context of the scriptures you are reading!!  How can I, except some man should guide me?

Even the passages we just read have eternal consequences to your soul concerning salvation!!  You can look at these scriptures and immediately say “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” not keeping the verse at hand in context with the epistle to the Roman Church and not in the correct understanding with other scriptures to the destruction of your own soul!! Did the scripture not also say “But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?” Have you believed the report?  Have you obeyed the gospel?

2 Timothy 2:15
15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Are you studying the scriptures to see if what you are being taught is correct?

2 Timothy 3:16-17
16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

What about what Jesus said?

Matthew 7:21-23
21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

What about what the Apostle Paul just said in Romans chapter 10 verse 13?  “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”  Did he make a mistake?  Or have a greater revelation than Jesus Christ of whom he received the gospel?  Or is there something that you do not understand?  How can I, except some man should guide me?

What is the context of the scripture at hand?  How does this work together with the other scriptures in the Word of God?  We just read that when Philip preached Jesus to the eunuch that the eunuch upon seeing “a certain water” “said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him. And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.”

So after hearing and believing the preaching of Jesus the eunuch knew he must be baptized.  So did the Apostle Paul not know this?  Or is there something that you do not understand?  How can I, except some man should guide me?

Does the Apostle Paul in Romans chapter 10 forget what he said in chapter 6 concerning baptism in Jesus name that the people obeyed?  Does that make void what Jesus spoke?  “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.”  Or is there something that you do not understand?  How can I, except some man should guide me?

Romans 6:16-18
16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.
18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness

So the people that the Apostle Paul was speaking to had “obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered” them before he later tells these same people “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13)

In Romans 6:17 we find that the Apostle Paul says, “but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.”  In Romans 10:9 above it read, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”  Does this make void the doctrine that they obeyed from the heart that was delivered to them?  The answer is no.  It is written that they had obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered to them.

As you can see from this example you can not just go to a certain scripture in a certain book of the Word of God and decide that you understand it’s meaning without studying the rest of the scriptures contained elsewhere.  What you see here is the people obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine that was delivered to them and then later on those people were told that “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”  This is because these people had “obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered” to them.  What is this form of doctrine which was delivered to them?  It is the baptism in Jesus name.   Hear it!

Romans 6:3
3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

This form of doctrine that they obeyed from the heart is found in the book of Acts 2:36-39.

Acts 2:36-39
36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made the same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.

Acts 8:34-39

The preaching of the gospel of Jesus Christ to someone who is not saved will always bring forth what you must do in order to be saved!!  “Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the LORD our God shall call. And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation. Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.” (Acts 2:38-41)

Salvation is the gift of God but if you do not obey the gospel and “Save yourselves from this untoward generation” by applying what was spoken to “even as many as the LORD our God shall call” (Acts 2:39) then you will be lost in your sins because you did not obey the gospel of Jesus Christ!!

Let’s take a closer look at Romans chapter 6 where we learn that those to whom this epistle to the Church at Rome had already obeyed from their heart and you will discover the topic of baptism in Jesus name and that of the promise of the Holy Ghost.  It was this form of doctrine that they had obeyed that had set them free from the law of sin and death!!

18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.

Let’s take a closer look at Romans chapter 6.

Romans 6:1-9
1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

Notice carefully the question asked here, “How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?”  The Apostle Paul goes on to explain how we become dead to sin.

3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:

Notice the if clause in verse 5.  If we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection.  Also in verse 3 the Apostle Paul speaks of the baptism in Jesus name as the way that we are planted together in the likeness of his death.  This is that form of doctrine that they obeyed from the heart which was delivered to them.

6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
7 For he that is dead is freed from sin.
8 Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:
9 Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.

If you are not planted together in the likeness of his death, the body of sin will not be destroyed and you will perish in your sins because your old man was not crucified with him and therefore you will not be dead with Christ nor will you be freed from sin that you inherited from Adam.

How can I, except some man should guide me?

2 Corinthians 3:1-6
1 Do we begin again to commend ourselves? or need we, as some others, epistles of commendation to you, or letters of commendation from you?
2 Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men:
3 Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.
4 And such trust have we through Christ to God-ward:
5 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God;
6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.

Your life is a written epistle known and read of all men and You Never Know Who is Watching You!!  You may think I don’t care what people think of me.  I’m going to do whatever I feel like whenever I feel like.  But You Never Know Who is Watching You!!  Your actions in your life can have a major impact on multitudes of people.

Mark 5:1-20
1 And they came over unto the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gadarenes.
2 And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit,
3 Who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains:
4 Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man tame him.

You Never Know Who is Watching You!!

5 And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones.
6 But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him,
7 And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not.

Jesus had his eye on him!!

8 For he said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit.
9 And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many.
10 And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country.
11 Now there was there nigh unto the mountains a great herd of swine feeding.
12 And all the devils besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them.
13 And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand;) and were choked in the sea.
14 And they that fed the swine fled, and told it in the city, and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that was done.

You Never Know Who is Watching You!!  You may think I don’t care what people think of me.  I’m going to do whatever I feel like whenever I feel like.  But You Never Know Who is Watching You and the impact you can have on multitudes of people.  This man possessed with a legion of demons had no idea that Jesus had his eye upon him and was going to set him free!!  It could be you next!!  Even if you think it will never happen to me.  One day, maybe today, you will be set free and your actions in your life can have a major impact on multitudes of people.

15 And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.
16 And they that saw it told them how it befell to him that was possessed with the devil, and also concerning the swine.
17 And they began to pray him to depart out of their coasts.

Through one man being delivered of a legion of demons by Jesus Christ all eyes were now upon him and Jesus!!  What will your response be onlooker?  Will you ask Jesus to depart out of your city?  Will you oppose the Almighty God of the heavens and the earth?  Or will you rejoice with Jesus and the one delivered from their demon possession and welcome the Master to your city with great joy and not fear?

18 And when he was come into the ship, he that had been possessed with the devil prayed him that he might be with him.
19 Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee.
20 And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel.

This man wanted to follow Jesus but Jesus knew that Decapolis needed a witness.  This man went home and told all of his friends!!  This could be you this very day!!  He spread forth how Jesus had compassion upon him and published all throughout Decapolis “and all men did marvel.”  You Never Know Who is Watching You!!

Mark 7:31-37
31 And again, departing from the coasts of Tyre and Sidon, he came unto the sea of Galilee, through the midst of the coasts of Decapolis.
32 And they bring unto him one that was deaf, and had an impediment in his speech; and they beseech him to put his hand upon him.
33 And he took him aside from the multitude, and put his fingers into his ears, and he spit, and touched his tongue;
34 And looking up to heaven, he sighed, and saith unto him, Ephphatha, that is, Be opened.
35 And straightway his ears were opened, and the string of his tongue was loosed, and he spake plain.

The man who was possessed of the devil had published all throughout Decapolis what wonderful things Jesus Christ had done for him!!  A whole multitude of people were stirred up by the testimony of a man that was delivered of demon possession who once had all eyes upon him because he was mad, and cutting himself, and no man could tame or keep him bound!!

36 And he charged them that they should tell no man: but the more he charged them, so much the more a great deal they published it;
37 And were beyond measure astonished, saying, He hath done all things well: he maketh both the deaf to hear, and the dumb to speak.

You Never Know Who is Watching You!!

Acts 17:1-14
1 Now when they had passed through Amphipolis and Apollonia, they came to Thessalonica, where was a synagogue of the Jews:
2 And Paul, as his manner was, went in unto them, and three sabbath days reasoned with them out of the scriptures,
3 Opening and alleging, that Christ must needs have suffered, and risen again from the dead; and that this Jesus, whom I preach unto you, is Christ.
4 And some of them believed, and consorted with Paul and Silas; and of the devout Greeks a great multitude, and of the chief women not a few.

Your witness for Jesus Christ can be felt around the world as God changes your life and gives you ministries to witness of him around the world.  Whether it be in person or by means of the internet!!  You Never Know Who is Watching You!!

5 But the Jews which believed not, moved with envy, took unto them certain lewd fellows of the baser sort, and gathered a company, and set all the city on an uproar, and assaulted the house of Jason, and sought to bring them out to the people.
6 And when they found them not, they drew Jason and certain brethren unto the rulers of the city, crying, These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also;

It’s time to turn your world upside down through the power of the Holy Ghost!!  Yes you!!  This day God could set you free and anoint you to turn your world upside down and not your world alone but the entire world through your ministries given to you by God to reach out all over the world.  Whether in person or through internet ministries of which are powerful methods for reaching souls around the world for the glory of God!!

7 Whom Jason hath received: and these all do contrary to the decrees of Caesar, saying that there is another king, one Jesus.
8 And they troubled the people and the rulers of the city, when they heard these things.

You Never Know Who is Watching You!! “He that is not with me is against me: and he that gathereth not with me scattereth.” (Lk 11:23)  Which one are you?  “We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain. (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)” (2 Cor 6:1-2)

9 And when they had taken security of Jason, and of the other, they let them go.
10 And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews.
11  These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
12 Therefore many of them believed; also of honourable women which were Greeks, and of men, not a few.

You Never Know Who is Watching You!!  Those of Berea “received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.”  They did not believe blindly what they were being taught!!  Do you?  If you don’t know the Word of God and search out the scriptures daily to see what you are being taught by your Pastor or teacher then you will believe anything no matter how out of context what you are being taught is. Blown “with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;” (Eph 4:14)

13 But when the Jews of Thessalonica had knowledge that the word of God was preached of Paul at Berea, they came thither also, and stirred up the people.
14 And then immediately the brethren sent away Paul to go as it were to the sea: but Silas and Timotheus abode there still.

Are you gathering in with Jesus or are you scattering abroad with satan?  Are you asking Jesus into your country and into your city?  Or are you pleading with him to depart from your coasts and your borders?  You Never Know Who is Watching You!!  “For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes. A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh. And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?” (Lk 6:43-46)

Luke 9:51-56
51 And it came to pass, when the time was come that he should be received up, he stedfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem,
52 And sent messengers before his face: and they went, and entered into a village of the Samaritans, to make ready for him.
53 And they did not receive him, because his face was as though he would go to Jerusalem.
54 And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did?
55 But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of.
56 For the Son of man is not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them. And they went to another village.

Some nations, some territories, some peoples, some counties, and some cities may reject Jesus Christ at the first!!  Or a new people arise in their place and over time they reject Jesus Christ as where their former people’s of that land may not have rejected Christ!!  Should we call upon the Lord and command that fire should come down out of heaven and consume them all?  What spirit are you of?  Do you know?  If Jesus would have said yes, then how could the people of Samaria ever receive the Word of God and be saved?  You Never Know Who is Watching You!!

Acts 8:5-8
5 Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them.
6 And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did.
7 For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed with them: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed.
8 And there was great joy in that city.

Today could be the day that you are delivered of devils that have been possessing your vessel!!  It’s time to get to a Church that is Holy Ghost filled, preaching the truth, and be set free of the demon possession you are living under!!  Today could be the day that you receive the miracle to your body or mind that you have so long lived with and are desperately in need of Jesus to deliver you!!  It’s time to get to a Church that is Holy Ghost filled, preaching the truth, and be set free by the miracle working power of Jesus Christ!!  Are you to concerned with who is looking at you?  Do you have to much fear or pride in your life preventing you from reaching out to Jesus for what you have need of concerning your life?  You Never Know Who is Watching You!!  You may find that God delivers you of all of your addictions and afflictions in your life and you may become a world changer!!  You could be the one that God calls to set your city, your nation, your world on fire for God!!  Go turn our world upside down!!

Acts 16:16-26
16 And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying:
17 The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the most high God, which shew unto us the way of salvation.

You Never Know Who is Watching You!!  Even satan was watching Paul even as satan and his angels are watching you!!

18 And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour.
19 And when her masters saw that the hope of their gains was gone, they caught Paul and Silas, and drew them into the marketplace unto the rulers,
20 And brought them to the magistrates, saying, These men, being Jews, do exceedingly trouble our city,
21 And teach customs, which are not lawful for us to receive, neither to observe, being Romans.

You may cost people some money as they come out from their corrupt practices!!  You may cause your city to want to cast you into prison!!  You may cause your city to become zealous of our God and have a mighty move of God and revival!!

22 And the multitude rose up together against them: and the magistrates rent off their clothes, and commanded to beat them.
23 And when they had laid many stripes upon them, they cast them into prison, charging the jailor to keep them safely:

You may bear in your body the marks of the Lord Jesus!!  While your witness causes many people to convert to the truth to the saving of their souls!!

24 Who, having received such a charge, thrust them into the inner prison, and made their feet fast in the stocks.
25 And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.

You Never Know Who is Watching You!!  It didn’t matter to the Apostle Paul and Silas that they were surrounded by other prisoners and were currently sitting in a prison because they were preaching the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ!!  Even after being beat and cast into prison unjustly the Apostle Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God “and the prisoners heard them.”

26 And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s bands were loosed.

You Never Know Who is Watching You and the multitudes of people that are affected by you!!

Scriptures to Commit to Memory and some of the Reasons Why

1) Isaiah 28:9-13, 2 Timothy 3:16-17, 2 Timothy 2:15-16, Hebrews 11:6, 1 Corinthians 2:12-14

The goal here is to show how scriptures are set up in the Bible so that one can learn to whom God will teach knowledge and to whom God will make to understand doctrine. That all scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.  That without faith it is impossible to please God for he that comes to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him, because the natural man receives not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

2) Luke 23:39-43, Mark 2:5-11, Hebrews 9:15-28, Luke 22:19-20, 1 Corinthians 11:23-30

The goal here is to show that the thief on the cross died under the Old Testament and was not part of the New Testament which did not take place until Acts chapter 2 when the Holy Ghost was poured out upon the believers.  This was the birth of the New Testament Church.

3) John 3:1-8, Luke 13:1-5, Mark 16:14-18, Luke 24:44-53, Matthew 28:18-20, Acts 2:36-39

The goal here is to show how we must be born again to see or enter the kingdom of God.  This shows we must repent, be baptized, and the name we are to be baptized in according to Jesus’ own words which took place in Luke 24:47 as well as Matthew 28:19 and when both are fulfilled as the Apostles understood since Jesus had opened their understanding concerning himself in scripture in Luke 24:44 the fulfillment is found in Acts 2:38.

4) Acts 2:36-39, Acts 8:13-22, Acts 10:44-48, Acts 19:1-6, Acts 22:16

The goal here is to show that baptism is always done in Jesus name.  This also covers in a few instances the receiving of the Holy Ghost speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives the utterance and that it isn’t an automatic process.  This can be seen in Acts chapter 8:16 and Acts 19:6.  For those who say that Acts chapter 8 doesn’t specifically mention speaking in other tongues as the Spirit gives the utterance it is clear that Simon saw that by the laying on of the Apostle’s hands the people received the Holy Ghost and he offered them money.  What did he see?  He never offered money when he was watching miracles and signs being performed.  The scriptures already have shown that receiving the Holy Ghost was evidenced with the speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gave the utterance and doesn’t have to reiterate it every time.

5) 1 Corinthians 15:1-4, Acts 2:36-39, Ephesians 2:8-9, Titus 2:11-13, Galatians 5:6, Titus 3:4-5, Ephesians 5:25-27

The goal here is to show that by grace you are saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.  However, the grace of God teaches us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world and that faith works by love.  As Jesus said, “If ye love me, keep my commandments.” (John 14:15)  So for us to be saved by grace through faith we must be obedient to the commandments God has given to us that show us how to be born again of water and of the Spirit (John 3:1-8) or we do not love Jesus.  This is fulfilled when we obey the gospel of the Lord’s death, burial, and resurrection by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost, where we are sanctified and cleansed by the washing of water by the word.  Which are references to how we were born again.  Which is referencing the plan of salvation for all mankind which was given in the book of Acts chapter 2 by the Apostle Peter.  “Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.” (Acts 2:38-39)

6) Acts 2:36-39, Romans 6:1-8, Romans 6:14-19, Romans 10:8-17, Colossians 2:11-15, 1 Peter 3:20-22

The goal here is to show that those to whom the Apostle Paul said, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved” (Romans 10:9) that those same people had already been obedient to the plan of salvation found in the book of Acts as they had already “obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.” (Romans 6:17-18) This statement the Apostle Paul made in direct reference to the beginning of the same chapter saying, “Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.” (Romans 6:3-4) We also find out that it is in the water baptism in Jesus name that we “are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.” (Colossians 2:11-12) This is why the Apostle Peter who was the Apostle who gave us the plan of salvation in the book of Acts 2:38 says in 1 Peter 3:21 “whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:” The baptism in Jesus name saves us not by the putting away of the filth of the flesh but rather by the circumcision of Christ where we are buried with him in baptism.  Thus the answer of a good conscience toward God because of your faith of the operation of God where your sins are remitted.  Thus “baptism doth also now save us”.

7) Isaiah 28:9-13, Acts 2:1-4, Acts 2:16-21, Joel 2:28-32, 1 Corinthians 14:21, 1 Corinthians 12:1, 1 Corinthians 12:27-31, 1 Corinthians 14:1, 1 Corinthians 14:12

The goal here is to show the Holy Ghost as was prophesied to come and how it was fulfilled with the speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gave the utterance.  It is also to show that from 1 Corinthians chapters 12-14 the topic is spiritual gifts and not the receiving of the Holy Ghost.  It also shows that to compare the gift of divers kinds of tongues to the receiving of the Holy Ghost evidenced with the speaking with others tongues as the Spirit gives the utterance to try to justify why every one doesn’t speak with other tongues when they receive the Holy Ghost is also comparable to saying do all have the gift of faith even as the gift of faith isn’t the same as having faith of which if you did not have you would not become born again and thus would not receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.  Even so the gift of faith and the gift of divers kinds of tongues are only gifts of the Holy Ghost of which you must first receive to operate any of the gifts.

8) Isaiah 7:14, Isaiah 9:6-7, Matthew 1:20-25, John 10:30, John 14:15-20, Hebrews 1:4-5, Acts 2:32-33, 1 Timothy 3:16

The goal here is to show that the son that was to be born of a virgin would be both “The mighty God, The everlasting Father” and that it was the Holy Ghost that overshadowed the virgin Mary when she conceived child and that child’s name was Jesus of which was received by inheritance and since Jesus said “ I and my Father are one” and that it was himself that would not leave us comfortless saying “I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you” while it was Jesus himself that poured out the Holy Ghost upon the believers whereas the Apostle Peter said, “he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear”.  It becomes apparent that the revealed name of God in the New Testament was Jesus as Jesus is God manifest in the flesh.

9) John 1:17, Romans 3:19-20, Romans 6:12-16, Romans 7:12, Romans 8:1-4, Romans 10:4, 2 Corinthians 3:6-11, Galatians 3:9-13, Galatians 4:4-7, Ephesians 2:13-18, Hebrews 8:6-13, Hebrews 10:9-18

The goal here is to show with absolute certainty that we are not living under the Old Testament Law of Moses.  “For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.” (John 1:17) “For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.” (Romans 6:14) “For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:” (Romans 8:3) “For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.” (Romans 10:4) “For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.” (Hebrews 8:7) “In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.” (Hebrews 8:13) “Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second. By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.” (Hebrews 10:9-10)

10) Isaiah 28:9-13, Matthew 11:28-30, Acts 2:1-4, 1 Corinthians 14:21-22, Hebrews 4:1-11, Colossians 2:16-17, Romans 14:4-6, Galatians 4:9-11, Galatians 4:19-26, Romans 10:4

The goal here is to show how the Sabbath rest is fulfilled in Jesus Christ through the receiving of the Holy Ghost.  “For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people. To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.” (Isaiah 28:11-12) “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.” (Matthew 11:28-29) “In the law it is written, With men of other tongues and other lips will I speak unto this people; and yet for all that will they not hear me, saith the Lord. Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not: but prophesying serveth not for them that believe not, but for them which believe.” (1 Corinthians 14:21-22) In verse 21 the Apostle Paul is speaking of the receiving of the Holy Ghost as the Spirit gives the utterance when a person first receives the Holy Ghost while also confirming once again that there are those for all that will they not hear me, saith the Lord.  Whereas in verse 22 the Apostle Paul goes back to the main topic of spiritual gifts of the Holy Ghost and thus speaking in other tongues as the Spirit gives the utterance becomes a snare as seen from Isaiah 28:13 which says, “But the word of the LORD was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.” (See number 7 for explanation of receiving the Holy Ghost versus divers kinds of tongues.)  This Sabbath rest being fulfilled in Jesus Christ through the receiving of the Holy Ghost continues to be seen “Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it. For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.” (Hebrews 4:1-2) “For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works. And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest. Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:” (Hebrews 4:4-6) “For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.” (Hebrews 4:10-11) “Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.” (Colossians 2:16-17) “For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.” (Romans 10:4) Remember we are not living under the Mosaic Law, but grace and truth by Jesus Christ.

11) Hebrews 12:14, Matthew 5:9, 2 Corinthians 6:14 – 2 Corinthians 7:1, 1 John 2:15-17, 1 Peter 1:13-16

The goal here is to show that following after peace and holiness is part of salvation.  That we are not to be unequally yoked together with unbelievers for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness?  We are told to “come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you” and to “cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.” “For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.”  Therefore we are to be “As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance” “Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

Come let us Grow Together: The Gospel of the Stars

Come let us Grow Together is a weekly series that deals with the many topical categories that exist within the Word of God.  The purpose of this series is to grow in wisdom, knowledge, and understanding in things pertaining to God.

The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament showeth his handiwork. Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night showeth knowledge. There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard. Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun, Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race. His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof. (Psa 19:1-6)

Many people teach a doctrine that the Gospel of Christ is found in the constellations of the Zodiac.  They typically refer to a few passages of scriptures to bring forth this teaching.  One person writes:

The twelve major constellations of the Zodiac are referred to in the bible as the “Mazzaroth.”  The word Zodiac comes from the Greek word Zoe, which means life, and Dia, which means through or pathway.  Zodiac literally means: “the path to life.”  According to many Christian scholars, God depicted his story and his promise of salvation within the stars with the Gospel written in symbolic pictorial language manifesting the path to eternal life.

However this is not true.  The word Mazzaroth is found in Job 38:32a which reads, “Canst thou bring forth Mazzaroth in his season?”  Most likely the word Mazzaroth does refer to what we call the Zodiac, but this is not certain.

4216. mazzarah, maz-zaw-raw’; appar. from H5144 in the sense of distinction; some noted constellation (only in the plur.), perh. collect. the zodiac:–Mazzoroth. Comp. H4208.

The word zodiac does not mean the path of life, but rather circle of animals.

Origin:
1350–1400; Middle English zodiaque  < Latin zodiacus  < Greek zoidiakòs  ( kýklos ) signal (circle), equivalent to zoidi ( on ) animal sign ( zô ( ion ) animal + -idion  diminutive suffix) + -akos  -ac

Word Origin & History: Zodiac
late 14c., from O.Fr. zodiaque , from L. zodiacus  “zodiac,” from Gk. zodiakos (kyklos)  “zodiac (circle),” lit. “circle of little animals,” from zodiaion , dim. of zoion  “animal” (see zoo).

Moreover, the zodiac signs do not even appear above the Arctic Circle (66 degrees latitude) which means that there is no ‘Gospel in the Stars’ for many Eskimos, Siberians, Greenlanders, and Scandinavians. (CRI – Christian Research Institute)

In an article by Alova entitled, “An Astrological Dilemma: Polar Latitudes” it states, “Everywhere in polar latitudes, there are dates and times when sections of the zodiac never rise or set.” (© 2009, published in ISAR International Astrologer, Sagittarius 2009, p. 27-33

As you can see, the Gospel in the Stars theory is a lie from hell to trick one into astrology.

Psalms 19:1-6
1  The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament showeth his handiwork.

Here we see that the heavens declare the glory of God.  Notice the word declare.

2  Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night showeth knowledge.

Day and night are used here.  Not just night.  So again, this is not referring to the constellations of the Zodiac alone.

3  There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard.

This means that everywhere, including above the Arctic Circle at latitude 66.6̊ north and below the Antarctic Circle latitude 66.6̊ south, their voice is heard.  What did they declare? The glory of God.  What is the topic?  The stars.

4  Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun,

If this were only referring to night time and the constellations of the Zodiac versus just stars, then the use of day and the sun would not be used.  However, if one recognized that these scriptures are speaking of the stars, then everything makes sense since the sun is a star.

5  Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race.

6  His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.

Come let us Grow Together: The City of God

Come let us Grow Together is a weekly series that deals with the many topical categories that exist within the Word of God.  The purpose of this series is to grow in wisdom, knowledge, and understanding in things pertaining to God.

For he hath looked down from the height of his sanctuary; from heaven did the LORD behold the earth; (Psa 102:19)

All the flocks of Kedar shall be gathered together unto thee, the rams of Nebaioth shall minister unto thee: they shall come up with acceptance on mine altar, and I will glorify the house of my glory. The glory of Lebanon shall come unto thee, the fir tree, the pine tree, and the box together, to beautify the place of my sanctuary; and I will make the place of my feet glorious.  (Isa 60:7, 13)

And he said unto me, Son of man, the place of my throne, and the place of the soles of my feet, where I will dwell in the midst of the children of Israel for ever, and my holy name, shall the house of Israel no more defile, neither they, nor their kings, by their whoredom, nor by the carcases of their kings in their high places. (Ezek 43:7)

The sun shall be no more thy light by day; neither for brightness shall the moon give light unto thee: but the LORD shall be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy God thy glory. Thy sun shall no more go down; neither shall thy moon withdraw itself: for the LORD shall be thine everlasting light, and the days of thy mourning shall be ended. (Isa 60:19-20)

And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever. (Rev 22:5)

Therefore thy gates shall be open continually; they shall not be shut day nor night; that men may bring unto thee the forces of the Gentiles, and that their kings may be brought. (Isa 60:11)

And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it. And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof. And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it. And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there. And they shall bring the glory and honour of the nations into it. And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life. (Rev 21:22-27)

There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High. God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early. (Psa 46:4-5)

Blessed is the man whom thou choosest, and causest to approach unto thee, that he may dwell in thy courts: we shall be satisfied with the goodness of thy house, even of thy holy temple. Thou visitest the earth, and waterest it: thou greatly enrichest it with the river of God, which is full of water: thou preparest them corn, when thou hast so provided for it. (Psa 65:4, 9)

Afterward he brought me again unto the door of the house; and, behold, waters issued out from under the threshold of the house eastward: for the forefront of the house stood toward the east, and the waters came down from under from the right side of the house, at the south side of the altar. And by the river upon the bank thereof, on this side and on that side, shall grow all trees for meat, whose leaf shall not fade, neither shall the fruit thereof be consumed: it shall bring forth new fruit according to his months, because their waters they issued out of the sanctuary: and the fruit thereof shall be for meat, and the leaf thereof for medicine. (Ezek 47:1, 12)

And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. (Rev 22:1-2)
